Let $\mathbf{T}=(T_1,\ldots,T_d)$ be a $d$-tuple of operators on a complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$. The spherical Aluthge transform of $\mathbf{T}$ is the $d$-tuple given by $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}:=(\sqrt{P}V_1\sqrt{P},\ldots,\sqrt{P}V_d\sqrt{P})$ where $P:=\sqrt{T_1^*T_1+\ldots+T_d^*T_d}$ and $(V_1,\ldots,V_d)$ is a joint partial isometry such that $T_k=V_k P$ for all $1 \le k \le d$. In this paper, we prove several inequalities involving the joint numerical radius and the joint operator norm of $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}$. Moreover, a characterization of the joint spectral radius of an operator tuple $\mathbf{T}$ via $n$-th iterated of spherical Aluthge transform is established.

In this note, we verify that the bounded shadowing property and quasi-hyperbolicity of bounded linear operators on Hilbert spaces are preserved under Aluthge transforms.
Let $T\in B(H)$ be a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space $H$, let $T = V|T|$ be its polar decomposition of $T$ and let $λ\in [0,1]$. The $λ$-Aluthge transform $Δ_λ(T)$ and the mean transforms $M(T)$ are defined respectively by: \[Δ_λ(T):=|T|^λV|T|^{1-λ} \;\; \text{and} \;\; M(T):=\frac12(|T|V+V|T|).\] In this paper, we use several examples of weighted shift operators to prove that the Aluthge and mean transforms do not preserve the class of $m-$isometries in any directions.
In this paper we give several expressions of spectral radius of a bounded operator on a Hilbert space, in terms of iterates of Aluthge transformation, numerical radius and the asymptotic behavior of the powers of this operator. Also we obtain several characterizations of normaloid operators.
Let H and K be two Hilbert spaces and B(H) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators from H into itself. The main purpose of this paper is to obtain a characterization of bijective maps $Φ$ : B(H) $\rightarrow$ B(K) satisfying the following condition $Δ$ $λ$ ($Φ$(A)$Φ$(B)) = $Φ$($Δ$ $λ$ (AB)) f orall A, B $\in$ B(H), where $Δ$ $λ$ (T) stands the $λ$-Aluthge transform of the operator T $\in$ B(H). More precisely, we prove that a bijective map $Φ$ satisfies the above condition, if and only , if $Φ$(A) = U AU * for all A $\in$ B(H), for some unitary operator U : H $\rightarrow$ K.
Let H and K be two complex Hilbert spaces and B(H) be the algebra of bounded linear operators from H into itself. The main purpose in this paper is to obtain a characterization of bijective maps $Φ$ : B(H) $\rightarrow$ B(K) satisfying the following condition $Δ$ $λ$ ($Φ$(A) $\bullet$ $Φ$(B)) = $Φ$($Δ$ $λ$ (A $\bullet$ B)) for all A, B $\in$ B(H), where $Δ$ $λ$ (T) stands the $λ$-Aluthge transform of the operator T $\in$ B(H) and A $\bullet$ B = 1 2 (AB + BA) is the Jordan product of A and B. We prove that a bijective map $Φ$ satisfies the above condition, if and only if there exists an unitar…
Let $A = U |A|$ be the polar decomposition of $A$. The Aluthge transform of the operator $A$, denoted by $\tilde{A}$, is defined as $\tilde{A} =|A|^{\frac{1}{2}} U |A|^{\frac{1}{2}}$. In this paper, first we generalize the definition of Aluthge transform for non-negative continuous functions $f, g$ such that $f(x)g(x)=x\,\,(x\geq0)$. Then, by using of this definition, we get some numerical radius inequalities. Among other inequalities, it is shown that if $A$ is bounded linear operator on a complex Hilbert space ${\mathscr H}$, then \begin{equation*} h\left( w(A)\right) \leq \frac{1}{4}\left\V…
In this article, we present some new inequalities for the numerical radius of products of Hilbert space operators and the generalized Aluthge transform. In particular, we show some upper bounds for $ω(ABC+DEF)$ using the celebrated Buzano inequality, then some consequences that generalize some results from the literature are discussed. After that, inequalities that involve the generalized Aluthge transform are shown using some known bounds for the numerical radius of the product of two operators.
In this paper a systematic study of unitary asymptotes of commuting $n$-tuples of general Hilbert space operators is initiated. Special emphasis is put on the study of the quasianalicity property.
This article implements a simple convex approach and block techniques to obtain several new refined versions of numerical radius inequalities for Hilbert space operators. This includes comparisons among the norms of the operators, their Cartesian parts, their numerical radii, the numerical radius of the product of two operators, and the Aluthge transform.
Composition operators with analytic symbols on some reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces of entire functions on a complex Hilbert space are studied. The questions of their boundedness, seminormality and positivity are investigated. It is proved that if such an operator is bounded, then its symbol is a polynomial of degree at most 1, i.e., it is an affine mapping. Fock's type model for composition operators with linear symbols is established. As a consequence, explicit formulas for their polar decomposition, Aluthge transform and powers with positive real exponents are provided. The theorem of Car…

Using the polar decomposition of a bounded linear operator $A$ defined on a complex Hilbert space, we obtain several numerical radius inequalities of the operator $A$, which generalize and improve the earlier related ones. Among other bounds, we show that if $w(A)$ is the numerical radius of $A$, then \begin{eqnarray*} w(A) &\leq& \frac12 \|A\|^{1/2} \left\| |A|^{t} + |A^*|^{1-t} \right \|, \end{eqnarray*} for all $t\in [0,1].$ Also, we obtain some upper bounds for the numerical radius involving the spectral radius and the Aluthge transform of operators. It is shown that \begin{eqnarray*} w(A)…
Given scalars $a_n (\neq 0)$ and $b_n$, $n \geq 0$, the tridiagonal kernel or band kernel with bandwidth $1$ is the positive definite kernel $k$ on the open unit disc $\mathbb{D}$ defined by \[ k(z, w) = \sum_{n=0}^\infty \Big((a_n + b_n z)z^n\Big) \Big((\bar{a}_n + \bar{b}_n \bar{w}) \bar{w}^n \Big) \qquad (z, w \in \mathbb{D}). \] This defines a reproducing kernel Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}_k$ (known as tridiagonal space) of analytic functions on $\mathbb{D}$ with $\{(a_n + b_nz) z^n\}_{n=0}^\infty$ as an orthonormal basis. We consider shift operators $M_z$ on $\mathcal{H}_k$ and prove that …
In this paper, a new criterion for the similarity of commuting tuples of operators on Hilbert spaces is introduced. As an application, we obtain a geometric similarity invariant of tuples in the Cowen-Douglas class which gives a partial answer to a question raised by R.G. Douglas about the similarity of quasi-free Hilbert modules. Moreover, a new subclass of commuting tuples of Cowen-Douglas class is obtained.
In this paper, we investigate the spectral radius al- gebras related to the weighted conditional expectation operators on the Hilbert spaces L2(F). We give a large classes of operators on L2(F) that have the same spectral radius algebra. As a con- sequence we get that the spectral radius algebras of a weighted conditional expectation operator and its Aluthge transformation are equal. Also, we obtain an ideal of the spectral radius algebra related to the rank one operators on the Hilbert space H. Finally we get that the operator T majorizes all closed range elements of the spectral radius algeb…
This paper deals with representing in concrete fashion those Hilbert spaces that are vector subspaces of the Hardy spaces $H^p(\bb D^n) \ (1\le p\le \infty)$ that remain invariant under the action of coordinate wise multiplication by an $n$-tuple $(T_{B_1},\dots, T_{B_n})$ of operators where each $B_i, \ 1\le i\le n,$ is a finite Blaschke factor on the open unit disc. The critical point to be noted is that these $T_{B_i}$ are assumed to be weaker than isometries as operators. Thus our main theorem extends the principal result of \cite{LS} in the following three directions: $(i)$ from one to se…
Let T be a Cowen-Douglas tuple on a Banach space X. We use functional representations of T to associate with each T-invariant subspace Y of X an integer called the fiber dimension of Y. Among other results we prove a limit formula for the fiber dimension, show that it is invariant under suitable changes of Y and deduce a dimension formula for pairs of homogeneous invariant subspaces of graded Cowen-Douglas tuples on Hilbert spaces. We thus extend results proved by L. Chen, G. Cheng and X. Fang for single Cowen-Douglas operators on Hilbert spaces to the case of commuting operator systems on Ban…
The aim of the present paper is, firstly we study the concepts of (m, (q_1, ..., q_d))- partial isometries on a Hilbert space, secondly, we introduce the notion of m- invertibility of tuples of operators as a natural generalization of the m-invertibility in single variable operators.
We show that any m-isometric tuples of commuting operators on a finite dimensional Hilbert space can be decomposed as a sum of a spherical isometry and a commuting nilpotent tuple. Our approach applies as well to tuples of algebraic operators that are hereditary roots of polynomials in several variables.
Motivated by the theory of weighted shifts on directed trees and its multivariable counterpart, we address the question of identifying commutant and reflexivity of the multiplication $d$-tuple $\mathscr M_z$ on a reproducing kernel Hilbert space $\mathscr H$ of $E$-valued holomorphic functions on $Ω$, where $E$ is a separable Hilbert space and $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb C^d$ admitting bounded approximation by polynomials. In case $E$ is a finite dimensional cyclic subspace for $\mathscr M_z$, under some natural conditions on the $B(E)$-valued kernel associated with $\mathscr H$, the c…
Inspired by natural classes of examples, we define generalized directed semi-tree and construct weighted shifts on the generalized directed semi-trees. Given an $n$-tuple of directed directed semi-trees with certain properties, we associate an $n$-tuple of multiplication operators on a Hilbert space $\mathscr{H}^2(β)$ of formal power series. Under certain conditions, $\mathscr{H}^2(β)$ turns out to be a reproducing kernel Hilbert space consisting of holomorphic functions on some domain in $\mathbb C^n$ and the $n$-tuple of multiplication operators on $\mathscr{H}^2(β)$ is unitarily equivalent …
We introduce and study a class of operator tuples in complex Hilbert spaces, which we call spherical tuples. In particular, we characterize spherical multi-shifts, and more generally, multiplication tuples on RKHS. We further use these characterizations to describe various spectral parts including the Taylor spectrum. We also find a criterion for the Schatten $S_p$-class membership of cross-commutators of spherical $m$-shifts. We show, in particular, that cross-commutators of non-compact spherical $m$-shifts cannot belong to $S_p$ for $p \le m$. We specialize our results to some well-studied c…
We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the sum of n subspaces of a Hilbert space to be closed. We also present various properties of n-tuples of subspaces with closed sum.
We introduce the defect sequence for a contractive tuple of Hilbert space operators and investigate its properties. The defect sequence is a sequence of numbers, called defect dimensions associated with a contractive tuple. We show that there are upper bounds for the defect dimensions. The tuples for which these upper bounds are obtained, are called maximal contractive tuples. The upper bounds are different in the non-commutative and in the com- mutative case. We show that the creation operators on the full Fock space and the co ordinate multipliers on the Drury-Arveson space are maximal. We a…
A natural generalization of Krein's theorem to a pair of commuting tuples $\left(H_1^0,H_2^0\right)$ and $\left(H_1,H_2\right)$ of bounded self-adjoint operators in a separable Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$ with $H_j-H_j^0 = V_j\in \mathcal{B}_2(\mathcal{H})$(set of all Hilbert-Schmidt operators on $\mathcal{H}$) for $j=1,2,$ leads to a Stokes-like formula under trace. A major ingredient in the proof is the finite-dimensional approximation result for commuting self-adjoint n-tuples of operators, a generalization of Weyl-von Neumann-Berg's theorem.
We study analytic models of operators of class $C_{\cdot 0}$ with natural positivity assumptions. In particular, we prove that for an $m$-hypercontraction $T \in C_{\cdot 0}$ on a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$, there exists a Hilbert space $\mathcal{E}$ and a partially isometric multiplier $θ\in \mathcal{M}(H^2(\mathcal{E}), A^2_m(\mathcal{H}))$ such that \[\mathcal{H} \cong \mathcal{Q}_θ = A^2_m(\mathcal{H}) \ominus θH^2(\mathcal{E}), \quad \quad \mbox{and} \quad \quad T \cong P_{\mathcal{Q}_θ} M_z|_{\mathcal{Q}_θ},\]where $A^2_m$ is the weighted Bergman space and $H^2$ is the Hardy space over …
A well-known theorem due to R. E. Curto and N. Salinas gives a necessary and sufficient condition for the unitary equivalence of commuting tuples of bounded linear operators acting on reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. Inspired by this theorem, we obtain a different but equivalent criterion for the unitary equivalence of operators acting on reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. As an application, we describe the structure of intertwining operator and prove that the decomposition of Cowen-Douglas operators is unique up to unitary equivalence.
A characteristic function is a special operator-valued analytic function defined on the open unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^n$ associated with an $n$-tuple of commuting row contraction on some Hilbert space. In this paper, we continue our study of the representations of $n$-tuples of commuting row contractions on Hilbert spaces, which have polynomial characteristic functions. Gleason's problem plays an important role in the representations of row contractions. We further complement the representations of our row contractions by proving theorems concerning factorizations of characteristic functions. …
In this paper we extend the $H^\infty$ functional calculus to quaternionic operators and to $n$-tuples of noncommuting operators using the theory of slice hyperholomorphic functions and the associated functional calculus, called $S$-functional calculus. The $S$-functional calculus has two versions one for quaternionic-valued functions and one for Clifford algebra-valued functions and can be considered the Riesz-Dunford functional calculus based on slice hyperholomorphicity because it shares with it the most important properties. The $S$-functional calculus is based on the notion of $S$-spectru…
We generalize the notion of $m$-isometric operator tuples on Hilbert spaces in a natural way to normed spaces. This is done by defining a tuple analogue of $(m,p)$-isometric operators, so-called $(m,p)$-isometric operator tuples. We then extend this definition further by introducing $(m,\infty)$-isometric operator tuples and study properties of and relations between these objects.
A pair of Hilbert space linear operators $(V_1,V_2)$ is said to be $q$-commutative, for a unimodular complex number $q$, if $V_1V_2=qV_2V_1$. A concrete functional model for $q$-commutative pairs of isometries is obtained. The functional model is parametrized by a collection of Hilbert spaces and operators acting on them. As a consequence, the collection serves as a complete unitary invariance for $q$-commutative pairs of isometries. A $q$-commutative operator pair $(V_1,V_2)$ is said to be doubly $q$-commutative, if in addition, it satisfies $V_2V_1^*=qV_1^*V_2$. Doubly $q$-commutative pairs …
An $n$-tuple of operators $(V_1,...,V_n)$ acting on a Hilbert space $H$ is said to be isometric if the row operator $(V_1,...,V_n) : H^n \to H$ is an isometry. We prove that every isometric $n$-tuple is hyperreflexive, in the sense of Arveson. For $n = 1$, the hyperreflexivity constant is at most 95. For $n \geq 2$, the hyperreflexivity constant is at most 6.
We characterize functions of $d$-tuples of bounded operators on a Hilbert space that are uniformly approximable by free polynomials on balanced open sets.
Given a bounded operator $Q$ on a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$, a pair of bounded operators $(T_1, T_2)$ on $\mathcal{H}$ is said to be $Q$-commuting if one of the following holds: \[ T_1T_2=QT_2T_1 \text{ or }T_1T_2=T_2QT_1 \text{ or }T_1T_2=T_2T_1Q. \] We give an explicit construction of isometric dilations for pairs of $Q$-commuting contractions for unitary $Q$, which generalizes the isometric dilation of Ando [2] for pairs of commuting contractions. In particular, for $Q=qI_{\mathcal{H}}$, where $q$ is a complex number of modulus $1$, this gives, as a corollary, an explicit construction of …
Let $Ω$ be an irreducible bounded symmetric domain of rank $r$ in $\mathbb C^d.$ Let $\mathbb K$ be the maximal compact subgroup of the identity component $G$ of the biholomorphic automorphism group of the domain $Ω$. The group $\mathbb K$ consisting of linear transformations acts naturally on any $d$-tuple $\boldsymbol T=(T_1,\ldots, T_d)$ of commuting bounded linear operators. If the orbit of this action modulo unitary equivalence is a singleton, then we say that $\boldsymbol T$ is $\mathbb{K}$-homogeneous. In this paper, we obtain a model for all $\mathbb{K}$-homogeneous $d$-tuple $\boldsym…
This paper generalizes the classical Sz.-Nagy--Foias $H^{\infty}(\mathbb{D})$ functional calculus for Hilbert space contractions. In particular, we replace the single contraction $T$ with a tuple $T=(T_1, \dots, T_d)$ of commuting bounded operators on a Hilbert space and replace $H^{\infty}(\mathbb{D})$ with a large class of multiplier algebras of Hilbert function spaces on the unit ball in $\mathbb C^d$.
In this article, we discuss necessary condition of conditional dilation for both completely non-unitary (c.n.u) $Γ_{n}$-contractions and c.n.u $\mathbb E$-contractions. Consider two tuples, $(A_1, \dots, A_{n-1})$ and $(B_1, \dots, B_{n-1})$, of operators defined on two Hilbert spaces. One of the principal goals is to identify a necessary and a sufficient condition guaranteeing the existence of a c.n.u $Γ_n$-contraction $(S_1, \dots, S_{n-1},P)$ such that $(A_1, \dots, A_{n-1})$ becomes the $\mathcal{F}_O$-tuple of $(S_1, \dots, S_{n-1},P)$ and $(B_1, \dots,B_{n-1})$ becomes the $\mathcal{F}_O…
An $n$-tuple of operators $(V_1,...,V_n)$ acting on a Hilbert space $H$ is said to be isometric if the operator $[V_1\...\ V_n]:H^n\to H$ is an isometry. We prove a decomposition for an isometric tuple of operators that generalizes the classical Lebesgue-von Neumann-Wold decomposition of an isometry into the direct sum of a unilateral shift, an absolutely continuous unitary and a singular unitary. We show that, as in the classical case, this decomposition determines the weakly closed algebra and the von Neumann algebra generated by the tuple.
We introduce a notion called `maximal commuting piece' for tuples of Hilbert space operators. Given a commuting tuple of operators forming a row contraction there are two commonly used dilations in multivariable operator theory. Firstly there is the minimal isometric dilation consisting of isometries with orthogonal ranges and hence it is a noncommuting tuple. There is also a commuting dilation related with a standard commuting tuple on Boson Fock space. We show that this commuting dilation is the maximal commuting piece of the minimal isometric dilation. We use this result to classify all rep…
Motivated by Ball, Li, Timotin and Trent's Schur-Agler class version of commutant lifting theorem, we introduce a class, denoted by $\mathcal{P}_n(\mathcal{H})$, of $n$-tuples of commuting contractions on a Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$. We always assume that $n \geq 3$. The importance of this class of $n$-tuples stems from the fact that the von Neumann inequality or the existence of isometric dilation does not hold in general for $n$-tuples, $n \geq 3$, of commuting contractions on Hilbert spaces (even in the level of finite dimensional Hilbert spaces). Under some rank-finiteness assumptions, w…
