We study completely integrable systems attached to Takiff algebras $\mathfrak{g}_N$, extending open Toda systems of split simple Lie algebras $\mathfrak{g}$. With respect to Darboux coordinates on coadjoint orbits $\mathcal{O}$, the potentials of the hamiltonians are products of polynomial and exponential functions. General solutions for equations of motion for $\mathfrak{g}_N$ are obtained using differential operators called jet transformations. These results are applied to a $3$-body problem based on $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$, and to an extension of soliton solutions for $A_\infty$ to associated Takiff algebras. The new classical integrable systems are then lifted to families of commuting operators in an enveloping algebra, solving a Vinberg problem and quantizing the Poisson algebra of functions on $\mathcal{O}$.
For every simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ we consider the associated Takiff algebra $\mathfrak{g}^{}_{\ell}$ defined as the truncated polynomial current Lie algebra with coefficients in $\mathfrak{g}$. We use a matrix presentation of $\mathfrak{g}^{}_{\ell}$ to give a uniform construction of algebraically independent generators of the center of the universal enveloping algebra ${\rm U}(\mathfrak{g}^{}_{\ell})$. A similar matrix presentation for the affine Kac--Moody algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}^{}_{\ell}$ is then used to prove an analogue of the Feigin--Frenkel theorem describing the cent…
We construct a family of quasigraded Lie algebras that coincide with the deformations of the loop algebras in "principal" gradation and admit Kostant-Adler-Symes scheme. Using them we obtain new Volterra coupled systems and modified Toda field equations for all series of classical matrix Lie algebras $\mathfrak{g}$.
Let H_T=C[T,T^{-1}] be the Hopf algebra of symmetries of a lattice of rank 1, or equivalently, H_T is the group algebra of a free Abelian group with one generator T. We construct conformal algebras, vertex Poisson algebras and vertex algebras with H_T as symmetry. For example, the Hamiltonian structure for the infinite Toda lattice gives rise to an H_T-vertex Poisson structure on a free difference algebra. Examples of H_T-vertex algebras are constructed from representations of a class of infinite dimensional Lie algebras related to H_T in the same way loop algebras are related to the Hopf alge…
In this paper, we construct a new even constrained B(C) type Toda hierarchy and derive its B(C) type Block type additional symmetry. Also we generalize the B(C) type Toda hierarchy to the $N$-component B(C) type Toda hierarchy which is proved to have symmetries of a coupled $\bigotimes^NQT_+ $ algebra ( $N$-folds direct product of the positive half of the quantum torus algebra $QT$).
Toda equations associated with twisted loop groups are considered. Such equations are specified by Z-gradations of the corresponding twisted loop Lie algebras. The classification of Toda equations related to twisted loop Lie algebras with integrable Z-gradations is discussed.
In this paper, we define Orlov-Schulman's operators $M_L$, $M_R$, and then use them to construct the additional symmetries of the bigraded Toda hierarchy (BTH). We further show that these additional symmetries form an interesting infinite dimensional Lie algebra known as a Block type Lie algebra, whose structure theory and representation theory have recently received much attention in literature. By acting on two different spaces under the weak W-constraints we find in particular two representations of this Block type Lie algebra.
The orthosymplectic super Lie algebra $\mathfrak{osp}(1|\,2\ell)$ is the closest analog of standard Lie algebras in the world of super Lie algebras. We demonstrate that the corresponding $\mathfrak{osp}(1|\,2\ell)$-Toda chain turns out to be an instance of a $BC_\ell$-Toda chain. The underlying reason for this relation is discussed.
A tower for a (2+1)-dimensional Toda type system is constructed in terms of a series expansion of operators which can be interpreted as generalized Bessel coefficients; the result is formulated as an analog of the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff formula. We tackle the problem of the construction of infinitesimal algebraic skeletons for such a tower and discuss some open problems arising along our approach. In particular, we realize the prolongation skeleton as a Kac-Moody algebra.
We construct the classical W-algebras for some non-abelian Toda systems associated with the Lie groups GL(2n,R) and Sp(n,R). We start with the set of characteristic integrals and find the Poisson brackets for the corresponding Hamiltonian counterparts. The convenient block matrix representation for the Toda equations is used. The infinitesimal symmetry transformations generated by the elements of the W-algebras are presented.
We prove that with a $(2+1)$-dimensional Toda type system are associated algebraic skeletons which are (compatible assemblings) of particle-like Lie algebras of dyons and triadons type. We obtain trix-coaxial and dyx-coaxial Lie algebra structures for the system from algebraic skeletons of some particular choice for compatible associated absolute parallelisms. In particular, by a first choice of the absolute parallelism, we associate with the $(2+1)$-dimensional Toda type system a trix-coaxial Lie algebra structure made of two (compatible) base triadons constituting a $2$-catena. Furthermore, …
The full Kostant--Toda hierarchy on a semisimple Lie algebra is a system of Lax equations, in which the flows are determined by the gradients of the Chevalley invariants. This paper is concerned with the full Kostant--Toda hierarchy on the even orthogonal Lie algebra. By using a Pfaffian of the Lax matrix as one of the Chevalley invariants, we construct an explicit form of the flow associated to this invariant. As a main result, we introduce an extension of the Schur's $Q$-functions in the time variables, and use them to give explicit formulas for the polynomial $τ$-functions of the hierarchy.
Black hole generalized p-brane solutions for a wide class of intersection rules are obtained. The solutions are defined on a manifold that contains a product of n - 1 Ricci-flat internal spaces. They are defined up to a set of functions H_s obeying non-linear differential equations equivalent to Toda-type equations with certain boundary conditions imposed. A conjecture on polynomial structure of governing functions H_s for intersections related to semisimple Lie algebras is suggested. This conjecture is proved for Lie algebras: A_m, C_{m+1}, m > 0. For simple Lie algebras the powers of polynom…
We build in this paper the algebra of q-deformed pseudo-differential operators shown to be an essential step towards setting a q-deformed integrability program. In fact, using the results of this q-deformed algebra, we derive the q-analogues of the generalized KdV hierarchy. We focus in particular on the first leading orders of this q-deformed hierarchy namely the q-KdV and q-Boussinesq integrable systems. We present also the q-generalization of the conformal transformations of the currents and discuss the primarity condition of the fields by using the Volterra gauge group transformations for …
Generalizations of the q-Onsager algebra are introduced and studied. In one of the simplest case and q=1, the algebra reduces to the one proposed by Uglov-Ivanov. In the general case and $q\neq 1$, an explicit algebra homomorphism associated with coideal subalgebras of quantum affine Lie algebras (simply and non-simply laced) is exhibited. Boundary (soliton non-preserving) integrable quantum Toda field theories are then considered in light of these results. For the first time, all defining relations for the underlying non-Abelian symmetry algebra are explicitely obtained. As a consequence, bas…
We prove that the extended Toda hierarchy of \cite{CDZ} admits nonabelian Lie algebra of infinitesimal symmetries isomorphic to the half of the Virasoro algebra. The generators $L_m$, $m\geq -1$ of the Lie algebra act by linear differential operators onto the tau function of the hierarchy. We also prove that the tau function of a generic solution to the extended Toda hierarchy is annihilated by a combination of the Virasoro operators and the flows of the hierarchy. As an application we show that the validity of the Virasoro constraints for the $CP^1$ Gromov-Witten invariants and their descende…
We study the two-dimensional affine Toda field equations for affine Lie algebra $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$ modified by a conformal transformation and the associated linear equations. In the conformal limit, the associated linear problem reduces to a (pseudo-)differential equation. For classical affine Lie algebra $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$, we obtain a (pseudo-)differential equation corresponding to the Bethe equations for the Langlands dual of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, which were found by Dorey et al. in study of the ODE/IM correspondence.
Developing observation made in \cite{commut} we show that simple identity of the commutator type on an associative algebra is in one-to-one correspondence to 2D (infinite) Toda chain. We introduce representation of elements of associative algebra that, under some generic conditions, enables derivation of the Toda chain equation and its Lax pair from the given commutator identity.
In this article which is the first of a series of three, we consider $\mathcal W({\mathfrak{sl}_d})$-symmetric conformal field theory in topological regimes for a generic value of the background charge, where $\mathcal W({\mathfrak{sl}_d})$ is the W-algebra associated to the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_d}$, whose vertex operator algebra is included to that of the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak g}_1$ at level 1. In such regimes, the theory admits a free field representation. We show that the generalized Ward identities assumed to be satisfied by chiral conformal blocks wi…
The construction of a family of real Hamiltonian forms (RHF) for the special class of affine 1+1-dimensional Toda field theories (ATFT) is reported. Thus the method, proposed in [1] for systems with finite number of degrees of freedom is generalized to infinite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems. The construction method is illustrated on the explicit nontrivial example of RHF of ATFT related to the exceptional algebras E_6 and E_7. The involutions of the local integrals of motion are proved by means of the classical R-matrix approach.
This paper concerns the solutions of the full Kostant-Toda (f-KT) hierarchy in the Hessenberg form and their reductions to the $\ell$-banded Kostant-Toda ($\ell$-KT) hierarchy. We also study the f-KT hierarchy and the corresponding $\ell$-KT hierarchy on simple Lie algebras of type $A, B$ and $G$ based on root space reductions with proper Chevalley systems. Explicit formulas of the polynomial solutions for the $τ$-functions are also given in terms of the Schur functions and Schur's $Q$-functions.
We show that a natural discretisation of Virasoro algebra yields a quantum integrable model which is the Toda chain in the second Hamiltonian structure.
A Toda equation is specified by a choice of a Lie group and a $\mathbb Z$-gradation of its Lie algebra. The Toda equations associated with loop groups of complex classical Lie groups, whose Lie algebras are endowed with integrable $\mathbb Z$-gradations with finite dimensional grading subspaces, are described in an explicit form.
We propose several different types of construction principles for new classes of Toda field theories based on root systems defined on Lorentzian lattices. In analogy to conformal and affine Toda theories based on root systems of semi-simple Lie algebras, also their Lorentzian extensions come about in conformal and massive variants. We carry out the Painlevé integrability test for the proposed theories, finding in general only one integer valued resonance corresponding to the energy-momentum tensor. Thus most of the Lorentzian Toda field theories are not integrable, as the remaining resonances,…
Following the 1984 seminal work of Belavin, Polyakov and Zamolodchikov on two-dimensional conformal field theories, Toda conformal field theories were introduced in the physics literature as a family of two-dimensional conformal field theories that enjoy, in addition to conformal symmetry, an extended level of symmetry usually referred to as W-symmetry or higher-spin symmetry. More precisely Toda conformal field theories provide a natural way to associate to a finite-dimensional simple and complex Lie algebra a conformal field theory for which the algebra of symmetry contains the Virasoro alge…
We study the linear problem associated with modified affine Toda field equation for the Langlands dual $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}^\vee$, where $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$ is an untwisted affine Lie algebra. The connection coefficients for the asymptotic solutions of the linear problem are found to correspond to the $Q$-functions for $\mathfrak{g}$-type quantum integrable models. The $ψ$-system for the solutions associated with the fundamental representations of $\mathfrak{g}$ leads to Bethe ansatz equations associated with the affine Lie algebra $\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$. We also study the $A^{(2)}_{2r}$ affine …
We introduce the shifted quantum affine algebras. They map homomorphically into the quantized $K$-theoretic Coulomb branches of $3d\ {\mathcal N}=4$ SUSY quiver gauge theories. In type $A$, they are endowed with a coproduct, and they act on the equivariant $K$-theory of parabolic Laumon spaces. In type $A_1$, they are closely related to the open relativistic quantum Toda lattice of type $A$.
The quantum torus algebra plays an important role in a special class of solutions of the Toda hierarchy. Typical examples are the solutions related to the melting crystal model of topological strings and 5D SUSY gauge theories. The quantum torus algebra is realized by a 2D complex free fermion system that underlies the Toda hierarchy, and exhibits mysterious "shift symmetries". This article is based on collaboration with Toshio Nakatsu.
Calogero-Moser models and Toda models are well-known integrable multi-particle dynamical systems based on root systems associated with Lie algebras. The relation between these two types of integrable models is investigated at the levels of the Hamiltonians and the Lax pairs. The Lax pairs of Calogero-Moser models are specified by the representations of the reflection groups, which are not the same as those of the corresponding Lie algebras. The latter specify the Lax pairs of Toda models. The Hamiltonians of the elliptic Calogero-Moser models tend to those of Toda models as one of the periods …
An algebra isomorphism between algebras of matrices and difference operators is used to investigate the discrete integrable hierarchy. We find local and non-local families of R-matrix solutions to the modified Yang-Baxter equation. The three R-theoretic Poisson structures and the Suris quadratic bracket are derived. The resulting family of bi-Poisson structures include a seminal discrete bi-Poisson structure of Kupershmidt at a special value.
The 2D Toda hierarchy occupies a central position in the family of integrable hierarchies of the Toda type. The 1D Toda hierarchy and the Ablowitz-Ladik (aka relativistic Toda) hierarchy can be derived from the 2D Toda hierarchy as reductions. These integrable hierarchies have been applied to various problems of mathematics and mathematical physics since 1990s. A recent example is a series of studies on models of statistical mechanics called the melting crystal model. This research has revealed that the aforementioned two reductions of the 2D Toda hierarchy underlie two different melting cryst…
In our previous papers we described the structure of trajectories of the symmetric Toda system on normal real forms of various Lie algebras and showed that it was totally determined by the Hasse diagram of the Bruhat order on the corresponding Weil group. This note deals with the simplest non-split real Lie algebra, $\mathfrak{so}(2,4)$. It turns out, that the phase diagram in this case is also closely related with the Bruhat order of the relative Weyl group, but a bit more information is necessary to describe the dimensions of the trajectory spaces.
Generic classically integrable boundary conditions for the $A_{n}^{(1)}$ affine Toda field theories (ATFT) are investigated. The present analysis rests primarily on the underlying algebra, defined by the classical version of the reflection equation. We use as a prototype example the first non-trivial model of the hierarchy i.e. the $A_2^{(1)}$ ATFT, however our results may be generalized for any $A_{n}^{(1)}$ ($n>1$). We assume here two distinct types of boundary conditions called some times soliton preserving (SP), and soliton non-preserving (SNP) associated to two distinct algebras, i.e. the…
High rank solutions to the 2D Toda Lattice System are constructed simultaneously with the effective calculation of coefficients of the high rank commuting ordinary difference operators. Our technic is based on the study of discrete dynamics of Tyurin Parameters characterizing the stable holomorphic vector bundles over the algebraic curves (Riemann Surfaces).
The grading operators for all nonequivalent Z-gradations of classical Lie algebras are represented in the explicit block matrix form. The explicit form of the corresponding nonabelian Toda equations is given.
In this short note we show that the Bruhat cells in real normal forms of semisimple Lie algebras enjoy the same property as their complex analogs: for any two elements $w$, $w'$ in the Weyl group $W(\mathfrak g)$, the corresponding real Bruhat cell $X_w$ intersects with the dual Bruhat cell $Y_{w'}$ iff $w\prec w'$ in the Bruhat order on $W(\mathfrak g)$. Here $\mathfrak g$ is a normal real form of a semisimple complex Lie algebra $\mathfrak g_\mathbb C$. Our reasoning is based on the properties of the Toda flows rather than on the analysis of the Weyl group action and geometric considerations…
A family of polynomial τ-functions for the NLS-Toda hierarchy is constructed. The hierarchy is associated with the homogeneous vertex operator representation of the affine algebra \g of type A_1^{(1)}. These τ-functions are given explicitly in terms of Schur functions that correspond to rectangular Young diagrams. It is shown that an arbitrary polynomial τ-function which is an eigenvector of d, the degree operator of \g, is contained in the family. By the construction, any τ-function in the family becomes a Virasoro singular vector. This consideration gives rise to a simple proof of known resu…
