The aim of this paper is by using generating functions to further study some identities and properties on the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind, the degenerate $r$-Stirling numbers of the second kind, the degenerate Stirling numbers of the first kind and the unsigned degenerate Stirling numbers of the first kind.
A number of identities are proved by using Stirling transforms. These identities involve Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds, hyperharmonic and derangement numbers, Bernoulli and Euler numbers and polynomials, powers, power sums, and factorials.
Recently, authors studied the unsigned degenerate r-Stirling number of the first kind and the degenerate r-Stirling number of the second kind, respectively of which are the degenerate versions of the unsigned r-Stirling numbers of the first kind and those of the r-Stirling numbers of the second kind. The aim of this paper is to derive some identities involving such special numbers from the inverse relations for them.
In this article we use an interplay between Newton series and binomial formulas in order to generate a number of series identities involving Cauchy numbers, harmonic numbers, Laguerre polynomials, and Stirling numbers of the first kind.
In this paper we establish plenty of number theoretic and combinatoric identities involving generalized Bernoulli and Stirling numbers of both kinds. These formulas are deduced from Pascal type matrix representations of Bernoulli and Stirling numbers. For this we define and factorize a modified Pascal matrix corresponding to Bernoulli and Stirling cases.
Recently, Kim-Jang-Yi have introduced q-Bernstein polynomials. From these q-Berstein polynomials, we investigte some properties related to q-Stirling numbes and q-Bernoulli numbes.
Recently, the $λ$-analogues of $r$-Stirling numbers of the first kind were studied by Kim-Kim. The aim of this paper is to introduce the $λ$-analogues of $r$-Stirling numbers of the second kind and to investigate some properties, recurrence relations and certain identities on those numbers. We also introduce the $λ$-analogues of Whitney-type $r$-Stirling numbers of the second and derive similar results to the case of the $λ$-analogues of r-Stirling numbers of the second kind. In addition, we consider the $λ$-analogues of Dowling polynomials and deduce a Dobinski-like formula.
In this paper, we derive some identities and recurrence relations for the degenerate Stirling numbers of the first kind and of the second kind which are degenerate versions of the ordinary Stirling numbers of the first kind and of the second kind. They are deduced from the normal oderings of degenerate integral powers of the number operator and their inversions, certain relations of boson operators and from the recurrence relations of the Stirling numbers themselves. Here we note that, while the normal ordering of an integral power of the number operator is expressed with the help of the Stirl…
In a recent work, the degenerate Stirling polynomials of the second kind were studied by T. Kim. In this paper, we investigate the extended degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind and the extended degenerate Bell polynomials associated with them. As results, we give some expressions, identities and properties about the extended degener- ate Stirling numbers of the second kind and the extended degenerate Bell polynomials.
Recently, the degenerate Stirling numbers of the first kind were introduced. In this paper, we give some formulas for the degenerate Stirling numbers of the first kind in the terms of the complete Bell polynomials with higher-order harmonic number arguments. Also, we derive an identity connecting the degenerate Stirling numbers of the first kind and the degenerate derangement numbers by using probabilistic method.
We study a general type of series and relate special cases of it to Stirling series, infinite series discussed by Choi and Hoffman, and also to special values of the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function, complementing and generalizing earlier results. Moreover, we survey properties of certain truncated multiple zeta and zeta star values, pointing out their relation to finite sums of harmonic numbers. We also discuss the duality result of Hoffman, relating binomial sums and truncated multiple zeta star values.
The degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind and of the first kind, which are respectively degenerate versions of the Stirling numbers of the second kind and of the first kind, appear frequently when we study various degenerate versions of some special numbers and polynomials. The aim of this paper is to consider the r-truncated degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind, which reduce to the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second for r = 1, and to investigate their explicit expressions, some properties and related identities, in connection with several other degenerate special num…
In this paper, we consider the degenerate Stirling polynomials of the second kind which are derived from the generating function. In addition, we give some new identities for these polynomials.
For any positive integer r, the r-associated Stirling number of the second kind enumerates the number of partitions of the set{1,2,3,...,n} into k non-empty disjoint subsets such that each subset contains at least r elements. We introduce the degenerate r-associated Stirling numbers of the second kind and of the first kind. They are degenerate versions of the r-associated Stirling numbers of the second kind and of the first kind, and reduce to the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind and of the first kind for r=1. The aim of this paper is to derive recurrence relations for both of th…
The author has constructed multiple analogues of several families of combinatorial numbers in a recent article, including the bracket symbol, and the Stirling numbers of the first and second kind. In the present paper, a multiple analogue of another sequence, the Lah numbers, is developed, and certain associated identities and significant properties of all these sequences are constructed.
In this paper we study q-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials related to q-Stirling numbers. From thsese studying we investigate some interesting q-stirling numbers' identities related to q-Bernoulli numbers.
The aim of this paper is to study the fully degenerate Bernoulli polynomials and numbers, which are a degenerate version of Bernoulli polynomials and numbers and arise naturally from the Volkenborn integral of the degenerate exponential functions on Zp. We find some explicit expressions for the fully degenerate Bernoulli polynomials and numbers in terms of the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind, the degenerate r-Stirling numbers of the second kind and of the degenerate Stirling polynomials. We also consider the degenerate poly-Bernoulli polynomials and derive explicit representatio…

Broder introduced the r-Stirling numbers of the first kind and of the second kind which enumerate restricted permutations and respectively restricted partitions, the restriction being that the first r elements must be in distinct cycles and respectively in distinct subsets. Kim-Kim-Lee-Park constructed the degenerate r-Stirling numbers of both kinds as degenerate versions of them. The aim of this paper is to derive some identities and recurrence relations for the degenerate r-Stirling numbers of the first kind and of the second kind via boson operators. In particular, we obtain the normal orde…
In this paper, we derive some identities involving special numbers and moments of random variables by using the generating functions of the moments of certain random variables. Here the related special numbers are Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds, degenerate Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds, derangement numbers, higher-order Bernoulli numbers and Bernoulli numbers of the second kind.
Recently, introduced are the generalized Euler-Genocchi and generalized degenerate Euler-Genocchi polynomials. The aim of this note is to study the multi-Euler-Genocchi and degenerate multi-Euler-Genocchi polynomials which are defined by means of the multiple logarithm and generalize respectively the generalized Euler-Genocchi and generalized degenerate Euler-Genocchi polynomials. Especially, we express the former by the generalized Euler-Genocchi polynomials, the multi-Stirling numbers of the first kind and Stirling numbers of the second kind, and the latter by the generalized degenerate Eule…
In this paper, we exploit the r-Stirling numbers of both kinds in order to give explicit formulae for the values of the high order Bernoulli numbers and polynomials of both kinds at integers. We give also some identities linked the r-Stirling numbers and binomial coefficients.
The first aim of this paper is to construct new generating functions for the generalized λ-Stirling type numbers of the second kind, generalized array type polynomials and generalized Eulerian type polynomials and numbers, attached to Dirichlet character. We derive various functional equations and differential equations using these generating functions. The second aim is provide a novel approach to deriving identities including multiplication formulas and recurrence relations for these numbers and polynomials using these functional equations and differential equations. Furthermore, by applying…
In the paper, the author establishes some identities which show that the functions $\frac1{(1-e^{\pm t})^k}$ and the derivatives $\bigl(\frac1{e^{\pm t}-1}\bigr)^{(i)}$ can be expressed each other by linear combinations with coefficients involving the combinatorial numbers and the Stirling numbers of the second kind, where $t\ne0$ and $i,k\in\mathbb{N}$.
The normal ordering of an integral power of the number operator in terms of boson operators is expressed with the help of the Stirling numbers of the second kind. As a `degenerate version' of this, we consider the normal ordering of a degenerate integral power of the number operator in terms of boson operators, which is represented by means of the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind. As an application of this normal ordering, we derive two equations defining the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind and a Dobinski-like formula for the degenerate Bell polynomials.
In a previous paper, Rahmani introduced a new family of p-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials by means of the Gauss hypergeometric function. Motivated by this paper and as a degenerate version of those numbers and polynomials, we introduce the generalized degenerate Bernoulli numbers and polynomials again by using the Gauss hypergeometric function. In addition, we introduce the degenerate type Eulerian numbers as a degenerate version of Eulerian numbers. For the generalized degenerate Bernoulli numbers, we express them in terms of the degenerate Stirling numbers of the second kind, of the degene…
The multi-Stirling numbers of the second kind, the unsigned multi-Stirling numbers of the first kind, the multi-Lah numbers and the multi-Bernoulli numbers are all defined with the help of the multiple logarithm, and generalize respectively the Stirling numbers of the second kind, the unsigned Stirling numbers of the first kind, the unsigned Lah numbers and the higher-order Bernoulli numbers . The aim of this paper is to introduce the multi-Stirling numbers of the second kind and to find several identities involving those four numbers defined by means of the multiple logarithm and some other s…
We study inverse factorial series and their relation to Stirling numbers of the first kind. We prove a special representation of the polylogarithm function in terms of series with such numbers. Using various identities for Stirling numbers of the first kind we construct a number of expansions of functions in terms of inverse factorial series where the coefficients are special numbers. These results are used to prove/reprove the asymptotic expansion of some classical functions. We also prove a binomial formula involving inverse factorials.
I recent years, many mathematicians studied various degenerate version of some spcial polynomials of which quite a few interesting results were discovered. In this paper, we introduce the type 2 degenerate Bernoulli polynomials of the second kind and their higher-order analogues, and study some identities and expressions for these polynomials. Specially, we obtain a relation between the type 2 degenerate Bernoulli polynomials of the second kind and degenerate Bernoulli polynomials of the second kind, and identity involving hihger-order analogues of those polynomials and the degenerate stirling…
Recently, the numbers $Y_{n}(λ)$ and the polynomials $Y_{n}(x,λ)$ have been introduced by the second author [22]. The purpose of this paper is to construct higher-order of these numbers and polynomials with their generating functions. By using these generating functions with their functional equations and derivative equations, we derive various identities and relations including two recurrence relations, Vandermonde type convolution formula, combinatorial sums, the Bernstein basis functions, and also some well known families of special numbers and their interpolation functions such as the Apos…
This paper presents a number of identities for Dirichlet series and series with Stirling numbers of the first kind. As coefficients for the Dirichlet series we use Cauchy numbers of the first and second kinds, hyperharmonic numbers, derangement numbers, binomial coefficients, central binomial coefficients, and Catalan numbers.
Poly-Cauchy numbers with level $2$ are defined by inverse sine hyperbolic functions with the inverse relation from sine hyperbolic functions. In this paper, we show several convolution identities of poly-Cauchy numbers with level $2$. In particular, that of three poly-Cauchy numbers with level $2$ can be expressed as a simple form. In the sequel, we introduce the Stirling numbers of the first kind with level $2$
In this paper, we present a formula for generating various exotic series in the spirit of Ovidiu Furdui and Alina Sintamarian. Our new series (evaluated in closed form) involve Bernoulli, harmonic, and Catalan numbers. Also Stirling numbers of the second kind, other special numbers, and exponential polynomials. The results include series identities with Laguerre polynomials and derangement polynomials.
In this paper, we consider the degenerate poly-Bernoulli polynomials and present new and explicit formulas for computing them in terms of the degenerate Bernoulli polynomials and Stirling numbers of the second kind.
We obtain closed form expressions for convolutions of scale transformations within a certain subset of Appell polynomials. This subset contains the Bernoulli, Apostol-Euler, and Cauchy polynomials, as well as various kinds of their generalizations, among others. We give a unified approach mainly based on a probabilistic generalization of the Stirling numbers of the second kind. Different illustrative examples, including reformulations of convolution identities already known in the literature, are discussed in detail.
We study matrices which transform the sequence of Fibonacci or Lucas polynomials with even index to those with odd index and vice versa. They turn out to be intimately related to generalized Stirling numbers and to Bernoulli, Genocchi and tangent numbers and give rise to various identities between these numbers. There is also a close connection with the Akiyama-Tanigawa algorithm.
Harmonic numbers have been studied since antiquity, while hyperharmonic numbers were intoduced by Conway and Guy in 1996. The degenerate harmonic numbers and degenerate hyperharmonic numbers are their respective degenerate versions. The aim of this paper is to further investigate some properties, recurrence relations and identities involving the degenerate harmonic and degenerate hyperharmonic numbers in connection with degenerate Stirling numbers of the first kind, degenerate Daehee numbers and degenerate derangements.
Dowling showed that the Whitney numbers of the first kind and of the second kind satisfy Stirling number-like relations. Recently, Kim-Kim introduced the degenerate r-Whitney numbers of the first kind and of the second kind, as degenerate versions and further generalizations of the Whitney numbers of both kinds. The normal ordering of an integral power of the number operator in terms of boson operators is expressed with the help of the Stirling numbers of the second kind. In this paper, it is noted that the normal ordering of a certain quantity involving the number operator is expressed in ter…
In this paper we consider the Daehee numbers and polynomials of the first and second kind, and give several explicit representations for them. In particular, we express the Daehee polynomials as the derivative of a generalized binomial coefficient. This is done by performing the Stirling transform of the power sum polynomial $S_k(x)$ associated with the sum of $k$th powers of the first $n$ positive integers $S_k(n) = 1^k + 2^k + \cdots + n^k$. Furthermore, we show the relationship between the Daehee polynomials and the hyperharmonic polynomials. This allows us to also express the hyperharmonic…
Many works have been done in recent years as to explorations for degenerate versions of some special polynomials and numbers, which began with the introduction of the degenerate Bernoulli and degenerate Euler polynomials by Carlitz. The aim of this paper is to study some properties, recurrence relations and identities related to the degenerate r-Bell polynomials, the two variable degenerate Fubini polynomials and the degenerate r-Stirling numbers of the second kind.
Recently, several types of degenerate Bell polynomials have been introduced as degenerate versions of the ordinary Bell polynomials. The aim of this paper is to study some identities for the degenerate Bell polynomials and their related identities by making use of series transformation formula obtained by Boyadzhiev. In particular, this answers to the natural question about the relationship between two different types of degenerate Bell polynomials.
The Stirling numbers of the second kind are related to normal orderings in the Weyl algebra, while the unsigned Stirling numbers of the first kind are related to normal orderings in the shift algebra. Kim-Kim introduced a λ-analogue of the unsigned Stirling numbers of the first kind and that of the r-Stirling numbers of the first kind. In this paper, we introduce a λ-analogue of the shift algebra (called λ-shift algebra) and investigate normal orderings in the λ-shift algebra. From the normal orderings in the λ-shift algebra, we derive some identities about the λ-analogue of the unsigned Stirl…

The aim of this paper is twofold. The first one is to find several relations between the type 2 higher-order degenerate Euler polynomials and the type 2 higher-order Changhee polynomials in connection with the degenerate stirling numbers of both kinds and Jindalrae-stirling numbers of both kinds. The second one is to introduce the discrete harmonic numbers and some related polynomials and numbers, and to derive their explicit expressions and an identity.
The aim of this paper is to study Jindalrae and Gaenari numbers and polynomials in connection with Jindalrae-Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds. For this purpose, we first introduce Jindalrae-Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds as extensions of the notions of the degenerate Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds, and deduce several relations involving those special numbers. Then we introduce Jindalrae and Gaenari numbers and polynomials and obtain some explicit expressions and identities associated with those numbers and polynomials. In addition, we interpret our…
