We study inverse factorial series and their relation to Stirling numbers of the first kind. We prove a special representation of the polylogarithm function in terms of series with such numbers. Using various identities for Stirling numbers of the first kind we construct a number of expansions of functions in terms of inverse factorial series where the coefficients are special numbers. These results are used to prove/reprove the asymptotic expansion of some classical functions. We also prove a binomial formula involving inverse factorials.
A number of identities are proved by using Stirling transforms. These identities involve Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds, hyperharmonic and derangement numbers, Bernoulli and Euler numbers and polynomials, powers, power sums, and factorials.
Using the simple properties of Riemman integrable functions, Ramanujan's formula for sum of the square roots of first n natural numbers has been generalized to include r'th roots where r is any real number greater than 1.As an application we derive formula that gives factorial of positive integer $n$ similar to Stirling's formula.
Associated to each random variable $Y$ having a finite moment generating function, we introduce a different generalization of the Stirling numbers of the second kind. Some characterizations and specific examples of such generalized numbers are provided. As far as their applications are concerned, attention is focused in extending in various ways the classical formula for sums of powers on arithmetic progressions. Illustrations involving rising factorials, Bell polynomials, polylogarithms, and a certain class of Appell polynomials, in connection with appropriate random variables $Y$ in each cas…
In the paper, by establishing a new and explicit formula for computing the $n$-th derivative of the reciprocal of the logarithmic function, the author presents new and explicit formulas for calculating Bernoulli numbers of the second kind and Stirling numbers of the first kind. As consequences of these formulas, a recursion for Stirling numbers of the first kind and a new representation of the reciprocal of the factorial $n!$ are derived. Finally, the author finds several identities and integral representations relating to Stirling numbers of the first kind.
Recently, authors studied the unsigned degenerate r-Stirling number of the first kind and the degenerate r-Stirling number of the second kind, respectively of which are the degenerate versions of the unsigned r-Stirling numbers of the first kind and those of the r-Stirling numbers of the second kind. The aim of this paper is to derive some identities involving such special numbers from the inverse relations for them.
We introduce multi-poly-Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers, function field analogues of multi-poly-Bernoulli numbers of Imatomi-Kaneko-Takeda. We explicitly describe multi-poly-Bernoulli Carlitz numbers in terms of the Carlitz factorial and the Stirling-Carlitz numbers of the second kind and also show their relationships with function field analogues of finite multiple zeta values.
Let P be the set of the sequence of polynomials of degree n. The aim of this paper is to study the Stirling numbers of the second kind associated with P and of the first kind associated with P, in a unified and systematic way with the help of umbral calculus technique. Our results are illustrated with many examples which give rise to interesting inverse relations in each case.
Recently, the numbers $Y_{n}(λ)$ and the polynomials $Y_{n}(x,λ)$ have been introduced by the second author [22]. The purpose of this paper is to construct higher-order of these numbers and polynomials with their generating functions. By using these generating functions with their functional equations and derivative equations, we derive various identities and relations including two recurrence relations, Vandermonde type convolution formula, combinatorial sums, the Bernstein basis functions, and also some well known families of special numbers and their interpolation functions such as the Apos…
In this paper, algorithms are developed for computing the Stirling transform and the inverse Stirling transform; specifically, we investigate a class of sequences satisfying a two-term recurrence. We derive a general identity which generalizes the usual Stirling transform and investigate the corresponding generating functions also. In addition, some interesting consequences of these results related to classical sequences like Fibonacci, Bernoulli and the numbers of derangements have been derived.
In the paper, by virtue of expansions of two finite products of finitely many square sums, with the aid of series expansions of composite functions of (hyperbolic) sine and cosine functions with inverse sine and cosine functions, and in the light of properties of partial Bell polynomials, the author establishes Taylor's series expansions of real powers of two functions containing squares of inverse (hyperbolic) cosine functions in terms of the Stirling numbers of the first kind, presents an explicit formula of specific partial Bell polynomials at a sequence of derivatives of a function contain…
Poly-Cauchy numbers with level $2$ are defined by inverse sine hyperbolic functions with the inverse relation from sine hyperbolic functions. In this paper, we show several convolution identities of poly-Cauchy numbers with level $2$. In particular, that of three poly-Cauchy numbers with level $2$ can be expressed as a simple form. In the sequel, we introduce the Stirling numbers of the first kind with level $2$
We introduce an automorphism $\mathcal{S}$ of the space $C(\mathbb{Z}_p,\mathbb{C}_p)$ of continuous functions $\mathbb{Z}_p \rightarrow \mathbb{C}_p$ and show that it can be used to give an alternative construction of the $p$-adic incomplete $Γ$-functions recently introduced by O'Desky and Richman (arXiv:2012.04615). We then describe various properties of the automorphism $\mathcal{S}$, showing that it is self-adjoint with respect to a certain non-degenerate symmetric bilinear form defined in terms of $p$-adic integration, and showing that its inverse plays a role in a $p$-adic integral-trans…
In the paper, the authors establish Maclaurin's series expansions and series identities for positive integer powers of the inverse sine function, for positive integer powers of the inverse hyperbolic sine function, for the composite of incomplete gamma functions with the inverse hyperbolic sine function, for positive integer powers of the inverse tangent function, and for positive integer powers of the inverse hyperbolic tangent function, in terms of the first kind Stirling numbers and binomial coefficients, apply the newly established Maclaurin's series expansion for positive integer powers o…
We construct new integral representations for transformations of the ordinary generating function for a sequence, $\langle f_n \rangle$, into the form of a generating function that enumerates the corresponding "square series" generating function for the sequence, $\langle q^{n^2} f_n \rangle$, at an initially fixed non-zero $q \in \mathbb{C}$. The new results proved in the article are given by integral-based transformations of ordinary generating function series expanded in terms of the Stirling numbers of the second kind. We then employ known integral representations for the gamma and double …
The main purpose of this paper is to construct new families of special numbers with their generating functions. These numbers are related to the many well-known numbers, which are the Bernoulli numbers, the Fibonacci numbers, the Lucas numbers, the Stirling numbers of the second kind and the central factorial numbers. Our other inspiration of this paper is related to the Golombek's problem \cite{golombek} \textquotedblleft Aufgabe 1088, El. Math. 49 (1994) 126-127\textquotedblright . Our first numbers are not only related to the Golombek's problem, but also computation of the negative order Eu…
The aim of this paper is to give a new approach to modified $q$-Bernstein polynomials for functions of several variables. By using these polynomials, the recurrence formulas and some new interesting identities related to the second Stirling numbers and generalized Bernoulli polynomials are derived. Moreover, the generating function, interpolation function of these polynomials of several variables and also the derivatives of these polynomials and their generating function are given. Finally, we get new interesting identities of modified $q$-Bernoulli numbers and $q$-Euler numbers applying $p$-a…
The aim of this paper is to construct generating functions for some families of special finite sums with the aid of the Newton-Mercator series, hypergeometric series, and $p$-adic integral (the Volkenborn integral). By using these generating functions, their functional equations, and their partial derivative equations, many novel computational formulas involving the special finite sums of (inverse) binomial coefficients, the Bernoulli type polynomials and numbers, Euler polynomials and numbers, the Stirling numbers, the (alternating) harmonic numbers, the Leibnitz polynomials and others. Among…
