We point out similarities between two partitions of a flag manifold with pieces indexed by Weyl group elements. One partition is defined using the action of a Frobenius map, the other partition is defined using conjugation by a regular semisimple element.
A flag manifold over a semifield K can be partitioned into "half i-circles" which are orbits of a K-action on that flag manifold. Here i is fixed and it corresponds to a simple reflection in the Weyl group. We prove (for certain K) a connectedness property of the flag manifold: any two points of it can be joined by a finite sequence of half i-circles for various i.
For any semifield K we define a K-form of a partial flag manifold of a semisimple group G of simply laced type over the complex numbers. The definition is in terms of the theory of canonical bases.
Let G be a semisimple simply connected group of simply laced type over C. We show that the flag manifold of G has a version defined over the "tropical" semifield Z on which the monoid G(Z) associated to G and the semifield Z acts.
We show that the quantized flag manifold at a root of unity has natural affine open covering parametrized by the elements of the Weyl group. In particular, the quantized flag manifold turns out to be a quasi-scheme in the sense of Rosenberg.
In this work we study the existence of invariant almost complex structures on real flag manifolds associated to split real forms of complex simple Lie algebras. We show that, contrary to the complex case where the invariant almost complex structures are well known, some real flag manifolds do not admit such structures. We check which invariant almost complex structures are integrable and prove that only some flag manifolds of the Lie algebra $ C_{l}$ admit complex structures.
We first describe the tangent space to the affine flag manifold associated to a simple algebraic group over $\mathbb{C}$ at the distinguished point starting from standard definitions. We then construct projective lines in the affine flag manifold tangent to given root vectors associated to imaginary roots of the corresponding affine Kac-Moody algebra and describe in which Schubert varieties they lie.
We study the adjoint and coadjoint representations of a class of Lie group including the Euclidean group. Despite the fact that these representations are not in general isomorphic, we show that there is a geometrically defined bijection between the sets of adjoint and coadjoint orbits of such groups. In addition, we show that the corresponding orbits, although different, are homotopy equivalent. We also provide a geometric description of the adjoint and coadjoint orbits of the Euclidean and orthogonal groups as a special class of flag manifold which we call a Hermitian flag manifold. These man…
In this paper, we develop the theory of flag manifold over a semifield for any Kac-Moody root datum. We show that the flag manifold over a semifield admits a natural action of the monoid over that semifield associated with the Kac-Moody datum and admits a cellular decomposition. This extends the previous work of Lusztig, Postnikov, Rietsch and others on the totally nonnegative flag manifolds (of finite type) and the work of Lusztig, Speyer, Williams on the tropical flag manifolds (of finite type). As a by-product, we prove a conjecture of Lusztig on the duality of totally nonnegative flag mani…
We use the Hopf fibration to explicitly compute generators of the second homotopy group of the flag manifolds of a compact Lie group. We show that these $2$-spheres have nice geometrical properties such as being totally geodesic surfaces with respect to any invariant metric on the flag manifold. We characterize when the generators with the same invariant geometry are in the same homotopy class. This is done by exploring the action of Weyl group on the irreducible components of isotropy representation of the flag manifold.
We explain that the Plücker relations provide the defining equations of the thick flag manifold associated to a Kac-Moody algebra. This naturally transplant the result of Kumar-Mathieu-Schwede about the Frobenius splitting of thin flag manifolds to the thick case. As a consequence, we provide a description of the global sections of line bundles of a thick Schubert variety as conjectured in Kashiwara-Shimozono [Duke Math. J. 148 (2009)]. This also yields the existence of a compatible basis of thick Demazure modules, and the projective normality of the thick Schubert varieties.
We give a combinatorial Chevalley formula for an arbitrary weight, in the torus-equivariant K-theory of semi-infinite flag manifolds, which is expressed in terms of the quantum alcove model. As an application, we prove the Chevalley formula for anti-dominant fundamental weights in the (small) torus-equivariant quantum K-theory of the flag manifold G/B; this has been a longstanding conjecture about the multiplicative structure of the mentioned quantum K-theory. Moreover, in type A, we prove that the so-called quantum Grothendieck polynomials indeed represent Schubert classes in the (non-equivar…
We continue the study, begun in [Kouno-Naito-Orr-Sagaki, 2021], of inverse Chevalley formulas for the equivariant $K$-group of semi-infinite flag manifolds. Using the language of alcove paths, we reformulate and extend our combinatorial inverse Chevalley formula to arbitrary weights in all simply-laced types (conjecturally also for $E_8$).
