We initiate a systematic study of the deformation theory of the second Einstein metric $g_{1/\sqrt{5}}$ respectively the proper nearly $G_2$ structure $φ_{1/\sqrt{5}}$ of a $3$-Sasaki manifold $(M^7,g)$. We show that infinitesimal Einstein deformations for $g_{1/\sqrt{5}}$ coincide with infinitesimal $G_2$ deformations for $φ_{1/\sqrt{5}}$. The latter are showed to be parametrised by eigenfunctions of the basic Laplacian of $g$, with eigenvalue twice the Einstein constant of the base $4$-dimensional orbifold, via an explicit differential operator. In terms of this parametrisation we determine those infinitesimal $G_2$ deformations which are unobstructed to second order.
We apply the Berglund-Hübsch transpose rule from BHK mirror symmetry to show that to an $n-1$-dimensional Calabi-Yau orbifold in weighted projective space defined by an invertible polynomial, we can associate four (possibly) distinct Sasaki manifolds of dimension $2n+1$ which are $n-1$-connected and admit a metric of positive Ricci curvature. We apply this theorem to show that for a given K3 orbifold, there exists four seven dimensional Sasakian manifolds of positive Ricci curvature, two of which are actually Sasaki-Einstein.

We show that $3$-Sasaki structures admit a natural description in terms of projective differential geometry. This description provides a concrete link between $3$-Sasaki structures and several other geometries and constructions via a single unifying picture. First we establish that a $3$-Sasaki structure may be understood as a projective structure equipped with a certain holonomy reduction to the (possibly indefinite) unitary quaternionic group $\textrm{Sp}(p,q)$, namely a parallel hyperkähler structure on the projective tractor bundle satisfying a particular genericity condition. For the conv…
In this paper, we initiate the study of conformal $η$-Ricci soliton and almost conformal $η$-Ricci soliton within the framework of para-Sasakian manifold. We prove that if para-Sasakian metric admits conformal $η$-Ricci soliton, then the manifold is $η$-Einstein and either the soliton vector field $V$ is Killing or it leaves $ϕ$ invariant. Here, we have shown the characteristics of the soliton vector field $V$ and scalar curvature when the manifold admitting conformal $η$-Ricci soliton and vector field is pointwise collinear with the characteristic vector field $ξ$. Next, we show that a para-S…
It is well known that a unit sphere admits Sasakian 3-structure. Also, Sasakian manifolds are locally isometric to a unit sphere under several curvature and critical conditions. So, a natural question is: Does there exist any curvature or critical condition under which a Sasakian 3-manifold represents a geometrical object other than the unit sphere? In this regard, as an extension of the $\ast$-Ricci soliton, the notion of $\ast$-Ricci-Yamabe soliton is introduced and studied on two classes contact metric manifolds. A $(2n + 1)$-dimensional non-Sasakian $N(k)$-contact metric manifold admitting…
The purpose of this paper is to study the Sasakian geometry on odd dimensional sphere bundles over a smooth projective algebraic variety $N$ with the ultimate, but probably unachievable goal of understanding the existence and non-existence of extremal and constant scalar curvature Sasaki metrics. We apply the fiber join construction of Yamazaki \cite{Yam99} for K-contact manifolds to the Sasaki case. This construction depends on the choice of $d+1$ integral Kähler classes $[ω_j]$ on $N$ that are not necessarily colinear in the Kähler cone. We show that the colinear case is equivalent to a subc…
We study the transverse Kähler holonomy groups on Sasaki manifolds $(M,{\oldmathcal S})$ and their stability properties under transverse holomorphic deformations of the characteristic foliation by the Reeb vector field. In particular, we prove that when the first Betti number $b_1(M)$ and the basic Hodge number $h^{0,2}_B({\oldmathcal S})$ vanish, then ${\oldmathcal S}$ is stable under deformations of the transverse Kähler flow. In addition we show that an irreducible transverse hyperkähler Sasakian structure is ${\oldmathcal S}$-unstable, whereas, an irreducible transverse Calabi-Yau Sasakian…
Contact Structures of Sasaki Type and their Associated Moduli
We introduce new metric structures on a smooth manifold (called "weak" structures) that generalize the almost contact, Sasakian, cosymplectic, etc. metric structures $(φ,ξ,η,g)$ and allow us to take a fresh look at the classical theory. We demonstrate this statement by generalizing several well-known results. We prove that any Sasakian structure is rigid, i.e., our weak Sasakian structure is homothetically equivalent to a Sasakian structure. We show that a weak almost contact structure with parallel tensor $φ$ is a weak cosymplectic structure and give an example of such a structure on the prod…
We consider supergravity in five-dimensional Anti-De Sitter space $AdS_{5}$ with minimal supersymmetry, encoded by a Sasaki-Einstein metric on a five-dimensional compact manifold $M$. Our main result reveals how the Sasaki-Einstein metric emerges from a canonical state in the dual CFT, defined by a superconformal gauge theory in four dimensional Minkowski space $\mathbb{R}^{3,1}$in the t'Hooft limit where the rank $N$ tends to infinity. We obtain explicit finite $N-$approximations to the Sasaki-Einstein metric, expressed in terms of a canonical (i.e. background free) BPS-state on the gauge the…
