Motivated by the relation between Schur algebra and the group algebra of a symmetric group, along with other similar examples in algebraic Lie theory, Min Fang and Steffen Koenig addressed some behaviour of the endomorphism algebra of a generator over a symmetric algebra, which they called gendo-symmetric algebra. Continuing this line of works, we classify in this article the representation-finite gendo-symmetric algebras that have at most one isomorphism class of indecomposable non-injective projective module. We also determine their almost ν-stable derived equivalence classes in the sense of Wei Hu and Changchang Xi. It turns out that a representative can be chosen as the quotient of a representation-finite symmetric algebra by the socle of a certain indecomposable projective module.
Gendo-symmetric algebras were recently introduced by Fang and König. An algebra is called gendo-symmetric in case it is isomorphic to the endomorphism ring of a generator over a finite dimensional symmetric algebra. We show that a finite dimensional algebra $A$ over a field $K$ is gendo-symmetric if and only if there is a bocs-structure on $(A,D(A))$, where $D=Hom_K(-,K)$ is the natural duality. Assuming that $A$ is gendo-symmetric, we show that the module category of the bocs $(A,D(A))$ is isomorphic to the module category of the algebra $eAe$, when $e$ is an idempotent such that $eA$ is the …
We prove that a finite dimensional algebra $A$ with representation-finite subcategory consisting of modules that are semi-Gorenstein-projective and $n$-th syzygy modules is left weakly Gorenstein. This generalises a theorem of Ringel and Zhang who proved the result in the case $n=1$. As an application we show that monomial algebras and endomorphism rings of modules over representation-finite algebras are weakly Gorenstein. We then give a new connection between the theory of dominant dimension and Gorenstein homological algebra for gendo-symmetric algebras. As an application, we will see that t…
The famous Nakayama conjecture states that the dominant dimension of a non-selfinjective finite dimensional algebra is finite. In \cite{Yam}, Yamagata stated the stronger conjecture that the dominant dimension of a non-selfinjective finite dimensional algebra is bounded by a function depending on the number of simple modules of that algebra. With a view towards those conjectures, new bounds on dominant dimensions seem desirable. We give a new approach to bounds on the dominant dimension of gendo-symmetric algebras via counting non-isomorphic indecomposable summands of rigid modules in the modu…
We describe Serre functors for (generalisations of) the category O associated with a semi-simple complex Lie algebra. In our approach, projective-injective modules play an important role. They control the Serre functor in the case of a quasi-hereditary algebra having a double centraliser property with respect to a symmetric algebra. As an application of the double centraliser property and our description of Serre functors, we prove three conjectures of Khovanov about the projective-injective modules in the parabolic category O for sl_n.
We show that for any singular dominant integral weight $λ$ of a complex semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, the endomorphism algebra $B$ of any projective-injective module of the parabolic BGG category $\mathcal{O}_λ^{\mathfrak{p}}$ is a symmetric algebra (as conjectured by Khovanov) extending the results of Mazorchuk and Stroppel for the regular dominant integral weight. Moreover, the endomorphism algebra $B$ is equipped with a homogeneous (non-degenerate) symmetrizing form. In the appendix, there is a short proof due to K. Coulembier and V. Mazorchuk showing that the endomorphism algebra …
Cuspidal representations of a reductive p-adic group G over a field of characteristic different from p are relatively injective and projective with respect to extensions that split by a U-equivariant linear map for any subgroup U that is compact modulo the centre. The category of smooth representations over a field whose characteristic does not divide the pro-order of G is the product of the subcategories of cuspidal representations and of subrepresentations of direct sums of parabolically induced representations.
The Lie algebra of vector fields on $R^m$ acts naturally on the spaces of differential operators between tensor field modules. Its projective subalgebra is isomorphic to $sl_{m+1}$, and its affine subalgebra is a maximal parabolic subalgebra of the projective subalgebra with Levi factor $gl_m$. We prove two results. First, we realize all injective objects of the parabolic category O$^{gl_m}(sl_{m+1})$ of $gl_m$-finite $sl_{m+1}$-modules as submodules of differential operator modules. Second, we study projective quantizations of differential operator modules, i.e., $sl_{m+1}$-invariant splittin…
For a certain finite graph E, we consider the corresponding finite dimensional algebra A with radical square zero. An explicit compact generator for the homotopy category of acyclic complexes of injective (resp. projective) modules over A, called the injective (resp. projective) Leavitt complex of E, was constructed in [18] (resp. [19]). We overview the connection between the injective (resp. projective) Leavitt complex and the Leavitt path algebra of E. A differential graded bimodule structure, which is right quasi-balanced, is endowed to the injective (resp. projective) Leavitt complex in [1…
Let $Λ$ be an artin algebra and let $\mathcal{P}^{<\infty}_Λ$ the category of finitely generated right $Λ$-modules of finite projective dimension. We show that $\mathcal{P}^{<\infty}_Λ$ is contravariantly finite in $\rm mod\,Λ$ if and only if the direct sum $E$ of the indecomposable Ext-injective modules in $\mathcal{P}^{<\infty}_Λ$ form a tilting module in $\rm mod\,Λ$. Moreover, we show that in this case $E$ coincides with the direct sum of the minimal right $\mathcal{P}^{<\infty}_Λ$-approximations of the indecomposable $Λ$-injective modules and that the projective dimension of $E$ equal to …
Let A be a self-injective algebra over an algebraically closed field k. We show that if an A-module M of complexity one has an open orbit in the variety of d-dimensional A-modules, then M is periodic. As a corollary we see that any simple A-module of complexity one must be periodic. In the course of the proof, we also show that modules with open orbits are preserved by stable equivalences of Morita type between self-injective algebras.
In this paper, we introduce the notion of $ν$-stable silting-discrete algebras, which unify silting-discrete algebras and tilting-discrete self-injective algebras, where $ν$ is a triangle auto-equivalence of the bounded homotopy category of finitely generated projective modules. Moreover, we give an example of tilting-discrete self-injective algebras which are not silting-discrete.
Given a finite dimensional algebra $A$, we consider certain sets of idempotents of $A$, called self-injective cores, to which we associate 2-subcategories of the 2-category of projective bimodules over $A$. We classify the simple transitive 2-representations of such 2-subcategories, vastly generalizing the main result of arXiv:1805.05724.
We give a result of Auslander-Ringel-Tachikawa type for Gorenstein-projective modules over a complete Gorenstein order. In particular, we prove that a complete Gorenstein order is of finite Cohen-Macaulay representation type if and only if every indecomposable pure-injective object in the stable category of Gorenstein-projective modules is compact.
Let $R$ be a ring with identity and $\C(R)$ denote the category of complexes of $R$-modules. In this paper we study the homotopy categories arising from projective (resp. injective) complexes as well as Gorenstein projective (resp. Gorenstein injective) modules. We show that the homotopy category of projective complexes over $R$, denoted $\KPC$, is always well generated and is compactly generated provided $\KPR$ is so. Based on this result, it will be proved that the class of Gorenstein projective complexes is precovering, whenever $R$ is a commutative noetherian ring of finite Krull dimension…
We show that there is a reflection type bijection between the indecomposable summands of two multiplicity free tilting modules $X$ and $Y$. This bijection fixes the common indecomposable summands of $X$ and $Y$ and sends indecomposable projective (resp., injective) summands of exactly one module to non-projective (resp., non-injective) summands of the other. Moreover, this bijection interchanges the two possible non-isomorphic complements of an almost complete tilting module.
Let $Λ$ be a derived-discrete algebra. We show that the Krull-Gabriel dimension of the homotopy category of projective $Λ$-modules, and therefore the Cantor-Bendixson rank of its Ziegler spectrum, is $2$, thus extending a result of Bobiński and Krause. We also describe all the indecomposable pure-injective complexes and hence the Ziegler spectrum for derived-discrete algebras, extending a result of Z. Han. Using this, we are able to prove that all indecomposable complexes in the homotopy category of projective $Λ$-modules are pure-injective, so obtaining a class of algebras for which every ind…
A pair $(A, P)$ is called a cover of $\operatorname{End}_A(P)^{op}$ if the Schur functor $\operatorname{Hom}_A(P, -)$ is fully faithful on the full subcategory of projective $A$-modules, for a given projective $A$-module $P$. By definition, Morita algebras are the covers of self-injective algebras and then $P$ is a faithful projective-injective module. Conversely, we show that $A$ is a Morita algebra and $\operatorname{End}_A(P)^{op}$ is self-injective whenever $(A, P)$ is a cover of $\operatorname{End}_A(P)^{op}$ for a faithful projective-injective module $P$.
In this paper, we study a relationship between tilting modules with finite projective dimension and dominant dimension with respect to injective modules as a generalization of results of Crawley-Boevey-Sauter, Nguyen-Reiten-Todorov-Zhu and Pressland-Sauter. Moreover, we give characterizations of almost $n$-Auslander-Gorenstein algebras and almost $n$-Auslander algebras by the existence of tilting modules. As an application, we describe a sufficient condition for almost $1$-Auslander algebras to be strongly quasi-hereditary by comparing such tilting modules and characteristic tilting modules.
Recently, Yekutieli introduced projective dimension and injective dimension of DG-modules by generalizing the characterization of projective dimension and injective dimension of ordinary modules by vanishing of Ext-group. In this paper, we introduce DG-version of projective resolution and injective resolution for DG-modules over a connective DG-algebra which are different from known DG-version of projective and injective resolutions. An important feature of these resolutions is that, roughly speaking, the "length" of these resolutions give projective or injective dimensions. We show that these…
We show, in full generality, that Lusztig's $\mathbf{a}$-function describes the projective dimension of both indecomposable tilting modules and indecomposable injective modules in the regular block of the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$, proving a conjecture from the first paper. On the way we show that the images of simple modules under projective functors can be represented in the derived category by linear complexes of tilting modules. These complexes, in turn, can be interpreted as the images of simple modules under projective functors in the Koszul dual of the category $\mathcal{O}$. Finally, …
We show that an adaptation of Landrock's Lemma for symmetric algebras also holds for cellular algebras and BGG algebras. This is a result relating the radical layers of any two projective modules. The reason it holds in our setting is that there is a duality between injective hulls and projective covers. As a corollary we deduce that BGG reciprocity respects Loewy structure.
Let $R$ be a ring and $\mathcal{Q}$ be a finite and acyclic quiver. We present an explicit formula for the injective envelopes and projective precovers in the category $\rm{Rep} (\mathcal{Q} ,R)$ of representations of $\mathcal{Q}$ by left $R$-modules. We also extend our formula to all terms of the minimal injective resolution of $R\mathcal{Q}$. Using such descriptions, we study the Auslander-Gorenstein property of path algebras. In particular, we prove that the path algebra $R\mathcal{Q}$ is $k$-Gorenstein if and only if $\mathcal{Q}=\overrightarrow{A_{n}}$ and $R$ is a $k$-Gorenstein ring, w…
We consider the homotopy category of complexes of projective modules over any gentle algebra. We prove that indecomposable $Σ$-pure-injective objects in s must be shifts of string or band complexes. We begin with a survey of purity in compactly generated triangulated categories, recalling some characterisations of $Σ$-pure-injective objects that mimic classical results from the model theory of modules. We then specify to the aforementioned homotopy category, and describe the compact objects in this case. Our proof uses a recent adaptation of a classification technique known as the functorial f…
Let A be an Artin algebra and e an idempotent in A. It is an interesting topic to compare the homological dimension of the algebras A,A/AeA and eAe. For example, in [2], the relation among the global dimension of these algebras is discussed under the condition that AeA is a strongly idempotent ideal. Motivated by this, we try to compare the finitistic dimension of these algebras under certain homological conditions on AeA. In particular, under the condition that AeA is a strongly idempotent ideal with finite projective dimension, we prove that if the finitistic projective (or injective) dimens…
Let g=g_{0} \oplus g_{1} be a classical Lie superalgebra and F be the category of finite dimensional g-supermodules which are semisimple over g_{0}. In this paper we investigate the homological properties of the category F. In particular we prove that F is self-injective in the sense that all projective supermodules are injective. We also show that all supermodules in F admit a projective resolution with polynomial rate of growth and, hence, one can study complexity in F. If g is a Type I Lie superalgebra we introduce support varieties which detect projectivity and are related to the associate…
We study tilting and projective-injective modules in a parabolic BGG category $\mathcal O$ for an arbitrary classical Lie superalgebra. We establish a version of Ringel duality for this type of Lie superalgebras which allows to express the characters of tilting modules in terms of those of simple modules in that category. We also obtain a classification of projective-injective modules in the full BGG category $\mathcal O$ for all simple classical Lie superalgebras. We then classify and give an explicit combinatorial description of parabolic subalgebras of the periplectic Lie superalgebras and …
We give a construction of Gorenstein projective $τ$-tilting modules in terms of tensor products of modules. As a consequence, we give a class of non-self-injective algebras admitting non-trivial Gorenstein projective $τ$-tilting modules. Moreover, we show that a finite dimensional algebra $Λ$ over an algebraically closed field is $CM$-$τ$-tilting finite if $T_n(Λ)$ is $CM$-$τ$-tilting finite which gives a partial answer to a question on $CM$-$τ$-tilting finite algebras posed by Xie and Zhang.
Let A be a finite-dimensional algebra. If A is self-injective, then all modules are reflexive. Marczinzik recently has asked whether A has to be self-injective in case all the simple modules are reflexive. Here, we exhibit an 8-dimensional algebra which is not self-injective, but such that all simple modules are reflexive (actually, for this example, the simple modules are the only non-projective indecomposable modules which are reflexive). In addition, we present some properties of simple reflexive modules in general. Marczinzik had motivated his question by providing large classes of algebra…
In this paper, we introduce and study relative phantom morphisms in extriangulated categories defined by Nakaoka and Palu. Then using their properties, we show that if $(\C,\E,\s)$ is an extriangulated category with enough injective objects and projective objects, then there exists a bijective correspondence between any two of the following classes: (1) special precovering ideals of $\C$; (2) special preenveloping ideals of $\C$; (3) additive subfunctors of $\E$ having enough special injective morphisms; and (4) additive subfunctors of $\E$ having enough special projective morphisms. Moreover,…
We initiate the study of derived functors in the setting of extriangulated categories. By using coends, we adapt Yoneda's theory of higher extensions to this framework. We show that, when there are enough projectives or enough injectives, thus defined extensions agree with the ones defined earlier via projective or injective resolutions. For categories with enough projective or enough injective morphisms, we prove that these are right derived functors of the $\operatorname{Hom}$-bifunctor in either argument. Since $\operatorname{Hom}$ is only half-exact in each argument, it is natural to expec…
We classify the blocks, compute the Verma flags of tilting and projective modules in the BGG category $\mathcal O$ for the exceptional Lie superalgebra $G(3)$. The projective injective modules in $\mathcal O$ are classified. We also compute the Jordan-Hölder multiplicities of the Verma modules in $\mathcal O$.
We show that Auslander algebras have a unique tilting and cotilting module which is generated and cogenerated by a projective-injective; its endomorphism ring is called the projective quotient algebra. For any representation-finite algebra, we use the projective quotient algebra to construct desingularizations of quiver Grassmannians, orbit closures in representation varieties, and their desingularizations. This generalizes results of Cerulli Irelli, Feigin and Reineke.
We investigate the properties of pure derived categories of module categories, and show that pure derived categories share many nice properties of classical derived categories. In particular, we show that bounded pure derived categories can be realized as certain homotopy categories. We introduce the pure projective (resp. injective) dimension of complexes in pure derived categories, and give some criteria for computing these dimensions in terms of the properties of pure projective (resp. injective) resolutions and pure derived functors. As a consequence, we get some equivalent characterizatio…
Let $A$ be a finite-dimensional local algebra over an algebraically closed field, let $J$ be the radical of $A.$ The modules we are interested in are the finitely generated left $A$-modules. Projective modules are always reflexive, and an algebra is self-injective iff all modules are reflexive. We discuss the existence of non-projective reflexive module in case $A$ is not self-injective. We assume that $A$ is short (this means that $J^3 = 0$). In a joint paper with Zhang Pu, it has been shown that 6 is the smallest possible dimension of $A$ that can occur and that in this case the following co…
We consider the category $\operatorname{Qcoh}\mathbb{X}$ of quasicoherent sheaves where $\mathbb{X}$ is a weighted noncommutative regular projective curve over a field $k$. This category is a hereditary, locally noetherian Grothendieck category. We classify all indecomposable pure-injective sheaves and all cotilting sheaves of slope $\infty$. In the cases of nonnegative orbifold Euler characteristic this leads to a classification of pure-injective indecomposable sheaves and a description of all large cotilting sheaves in $\operatorname{Qcoh}\mathbb{X}$.
In this paper we consider the locally self-injective property of the product FI$^m$ of the category FI of finite sets and injections. Explicitly, we prove that the external tensor product commutes with the coinduction functor, and hence preserves injective modules. As corollaries, every projective FI$^m$-modules over a field of characteristic 0 is injective, and the Serre quotient of the category of finitely generated FI$^m$-modules by the category of finitely generated torsion FI$^m$-modules is equivalent to the category of finite dimensional FI$^m$-modules.
We show that a differential module is Gorenstein projective if and only if its underlying module is Gorenstein projective. Dually, a differential module is Gorenstein injective if and only if its underlying module is Gorenstein injective.
Every cluster-tilted algebra $B$ is the relation extension $C\ltimes \text{Ext}^2_C(DC,C)$ of a tilted algebra $C$. A $B$-module is called induced if it is of the form $M\otimes_C B$ for some $C$-module $M$. We study the relation between the injective presentations of a $C$-module and the injective presentations of the induced $B$-module. Our main result is an explicit construction of the modules and morphisms in an injective presentation of any induced $B$-module. In the case where the $C$-module, and hence the $B$-module, is projective, our construction yields an injective resolution. In par…
Let $Λ$ be an Auslander's 1-Gorenstein Artinian algebra with global dimension two. If $Λ$ admits a trivial maximal 1-orthogonal subcategory of $\modΛ$, then for any indecomposable module $M \in \mod Λ$, we have that the projective dimension of $M$ is equal to one if and only if so is its injective dimension and that $M$ is injective if the projective dimension of $M$ is equal to two. In this case, we further get that $Λ$ is a tilted algebra.
Let $Λ$ be the path algebra of a finite quiver $Q$ over a finite-dimensional algebra $A$. Then $Λ$-modules are identified with representations of $Q$ over $A$. This yields the notion of monic representations of $Q$ over $A$. If $Q$ is acyclic, then the Gorenstein-projective $\m$-modules can be explicitly determined via the monic representations. As an application, $A$ is self-injective if and only if the Gorenstein-projective $\m$-modules are exactly the monic representations of $Q$ over $A$.
Following the well-established terminology in commutative algebra, any (not necessarily commutative) finite-dimensional local algebra $A$ with radical $J$ will be said to be short provided $J^3 = 0$. As in the commutative case, we show: if a short local algebra $A$ has an indecomposable non-projective Gorenstein-projective module $M$, then either $A$ is self-injective (so that all modules are Gorenstein-projective) and then $|J^2| \le 1$, or else $|J^2| = |J/J^2| - 1$ and $|JM| = |J^2||M/JM|$. More generally, we focus the attention to semi-Gorenstein-projective and $\infty$-torsionfree modules…
We interpret the Landau-Ginzburg potentials associated to Gross-Hacking-Keel-Kontsevich's partial compactifications of cluster varieties as F-polynomials of projective representations of Jacobian algebras. Along the way, we show that both the projective and the injective representations of Jacobi-finite quivers with potential are well-behaved under Derksen-Weyman-Zelevinsky's mutations of representations.
