Explicit exponential stability tests are obtained for the scalar neutral differential equation $$ \dot{x}(t)-a(t)\dot{x}(g(t))=-\sum_{k=1}^m b_k(t)x(h_k(t)), $$ together with exponential estimates for its solutions. Estimates for solutions of a non-homogeneous neutral equation are also obtained, they are valid on every finite segment, thus describing both asymptotic and transient behavior. For neutral differential equations, exponential estimates are obtained here for the first time. Both the coefficients and the delays are assumed to be measurable, not necessarily continuous functions.
The $μ$-neutral linear fractional multi-delayed differential nonhomogeneous system with noncommutative coefficient matrices is introduced. The novel $μ$-neutral multi-delayed perturbation of Mittag-Leffler type matrix function is proposed. Based on this, an explicit solution to the system is investigated step by step. The existence uniqueness of solutions to $μ$-neutral nonlinear fractional multi-delayed differential system is obtained with regard to the supremum norm. The notion of stability analysis in the sense of solutions to the described system is discussed on the grounds of the fixed po…
We obtain new explicit exponential stability conditions for the linear scalar neutral equation with two bounded delays $ (x(t)-a(t)x(g(t)))'+b(t)x(h(t))=0, $ where $|a(t)| \leq A_0 < 1$, $0<b_0\leq b(t)\leq B_0$, assuming that all parameters of the equation are measurable functions. To analyze exponential stability, we apply the Bohl-Perron theorem and a reduction of a neutral equation to an equation with an infinite number of non-neutral delay terms. This method has never been used before for this neutral equation; its application allowed to omit a usual restriction $|a(t)|<\frac{1}{2}$ in kn…
We obtain new explicit exponential stability conditions for the linear scalar neutral equation with two bounded delays $ \dot{x}(t)-a(t)\dot{x}(g(t))+b(t)x(h(t))=0, $ where $ 0\leq a(t)\leq A_0<1$, $0<b_0\leq b(t)\leq B$, using the Bohl-Perron theorem and a transformation of the neutral equation into a differential equation with an infinite number of delays. The results are applied to the neutral logistic equation.
In this paper, we study the dynamical behaviors of neutral differential equations with small delays. We first establish the existence and smoothness of the global inertial manifolds for these equations. Then we further prove the smoothness of inertial manifolds with respect to small delays for a certain class of neutral differential equations. The method can be also applied to deal with more general small-delay systems. Finally, we apply our main results to the van der Pol oscillator model with small delay.
We present a review of known stability tests and new explicit exponential stability conditions for the linear scalar neutral equation with two delays $$ \dot{x}(t)-a(t)\dot{x}(g(t))+b(t)x(h(t))=0, $$ where $$ |a(t)|<1,~ b(t)\geq 0, ~h(t)\leq t, ~g(t)\leq t, $$ and for its generalizations, including equations with more than two delays, integro-differential equations and equations with a distributed delay.
We present new explicit exponential stability conditions for the linear scalar neutral equation with two variable coefficients and delays $$ (x(t)-a(t)x(g(t)))'=-b(t)x(h(t)), $$ where $|a(t)|<1$, $b(t)\geq 0$, $h(t)\leq t$, $g(t)\leq t$, in the case when the delays $t-h(t)$, $t-g(t)$ are bounded, as well as an asymptotic stability condition, if the delays can be unbounded.
In this article, we study the ergodicity of neutral retarded stochastic functional differential equations driven by $α$-regular Volterra process. Based on the equivalence between neutral retarded stochastic functional differential equations and the stochastic evolution equation, we get the ergodicity of neutral retarded stochastic functional differential equations.
Nonresonant Hopf-Hopf bifurcation and a chaotic attractor in neutral functional differential equations

Spectral properties and transition to instability in neutral delay differential equations are investigated in the limit of large delay. An approximation of the upper boundary of stability is found and compared to an analytically derived exact stability boundary. The approximate and exact stability borders agree quite well for the large time delay, and the inclusion of a time-delayed velocity feedback improves this agreement for small delays. Theoretical results are complemented by a numerically computed spectrum of the corresponding characteristic equations.
In this manuscript, we establish asymptotic local exponential stability of the trivial solution of differential equations driven by Hölder--continuous paths with Hölder exponent greater than $1/2$. This applies in particular to stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter greater than $1/2$. We motivate the study of local stability by giving a particular example of a scalar equation, where global stability of the trivial solution can be obtained.
Exponential stability and solution estimates are investigated for a delay system $$ \dot{x}(t) - A(t)\dot{x}(g(t))=\sum_{k=1}^m B_k(t)x(h_k(t)) $$ of a neutral type, where $A$ and $B_k$ are $n\times n$ bounded matrix functions, and $g, h_k$ are delayed arguments. Stability tests are applicable to a wide class of linear neutral systems with time-varying coefficients and delays. In addition, explicit exponential estimates for solutions of both homogeneous and non-homogeneous neutral systems are obtained for the first time. These inequalities are not just asymptotic estimates, they are valid on e…
The main purpose of this paper is to present a general method for the controllability of the stability of a system of fractional-order differential equations around its equilibrium states. This method is applied to analyze and control the fractional stability of the fractional 2-dimensional fractional Toda lattice with one linear control.
We consider a linear scalar delay differential equation (DDE), consisting of two arbitrary distributed time delays. We formulate necessary conditions for stability of the trivial solution which are independent of the distributions. For the case of one discrete and one gamma distributed delay, we give an explicit description of the region of stability of the trivial solution and discuss how this depends on the model parameters.
In the paper a two-dimensional integro-differential system is considered. Using some variational methods we give sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of a solution to the considered system. Moreover, we show that the system is stable and robust.
In this paper, we give a review of fractal calculus which is an expansion of standard calculus. Fractal calculus is applied for functions which are not differentiable or integrable on totally disconnected fractal sets such as middle-$μ$ Cantor sets. Analogues of the Lyapunov functions and features are given for asymptotic behaviors of fractal differential equations. Stability of fractal differentials in the sense of Lyapunov is defined. For the suggested fractal differential equations, sufficient conditions for the stability and uniform boundedness and convergence of the solutions are presente…
In this paper, which is a direct continuation and generalization of the recent works by the authors [https://doi.org/10.1051/cocv/2019073, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jde.2021.03.003], we show the validity of the generic multiplicity-induced-dominancy property for a general class of linear functional differential equations with a single delay, including the retarded as well as the neutral cases. The result is based on an appropriate integral representation of the corresponding characteristic quasipolynomial functions involving some appropriate degenerate hypergeometric functions.
In this paper, we discuss on the linearized stability of the trivial solution for a class of nonlinear Caputo fractional differential systems of order $α\in(1,2)$. We show that some recent existing results in this direction are wrong. To complete the literature we also give a criterion to test the asymptotic stability of the trivial solution of this system.
In this paper, the problem of stability in terms of two measures is considered for a class of stochastic partial differential delay equations with switching. Sufficient conditions for stability in terms of two measures are obtained based on the technique of constructing a proper approximating strong solution system and carrying out a limiting type of argument to pass on stability of strong solutions to mild ones obtained by Bao, Truman and Yuan [ J. Bao, A. Truman,C. Yuan, Stability in distribution of mild solutions to stochastic partial differential delay equations with jumps, Proc. R. Soc. A…
We prove the theorem of linearized asymptotic stability for fractional differential equations. More precisely, we show that an equilibrium of a nonlinear Caputo fractional differential equation is asymptotically stable if its linearization at the equilibrium is asymptotically stable. As a consequence we extend Lyapunov's first method to fractional differential equations by proving that if the spectrum of the linearization is contained in the sector $\{λ\in \C : |\arg λ| > \frac{απ}{2}\}$ where $α> 0$ denotes the order of the fractional differential equation, then the equilibrium of the nonline…
In this paper, we investigate a class of nonlinear impulsive stochastic differential evolution equations with infinite delay in Banach space. Based on the Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem, sufficient conditions of the existence of the square mean piecewise almost periodic solutions to this type of equations are derived. Moreover, the exponential stability of the square mean piecewise almost periodic solution is investigated.
The solvability and stability analysis of linear time invariant systems of delay differential-algebraic equations (DDAEs) is analyzed. The behavior approach is applied to DDAEs in order to establish characterizations of their solvability in terms of spectral conditions. Furthermore, examples are delivered to demonstrate that the eigenvalue-based approach to analyze the exponential stability of dynamical system is only valid for a special class of DDAEs, namely non-advanced. Then, a new concept of weak stability is proposed and studied for DDAEs whose matrix coefficients pairwise commute.
Necessary and sufficient conditions are explored for the asymptotic stability and instability of linear two-dimensional autonomous systems of fractional-order differential equations with Caputo derivatives. Fractional-order-dependent and fractional-order-independent stability and instability properties are fully characterized, in terms of the main diagonal elements of the systems' matrix, as well as its determinant.
Necessary and sufficient stability and instability conditions are obtained for multi-term homogeneous linear fractional differential equations with three Caputo derivatives and constant coefficients. In both cases, fractional-order-dependent as well as fractional-order-independent characterisations of stability and instability properties are obtained, in terms of the coefficients of the multi-term fractional differential equation. The theoretical results are exemplified for the particular cases of the Basset and Bagley-Torvik equations, as well as for a multi-term fractional differential equat…
