Necessary and sufficient stability and instability conditions are obtained for multi-term homogeneous linear fractional differential equations with three Caputo derivatives and constant coefficients. In both cases, fractional-order-dependent as well as fractional-order-independent characterisations of stability and instability properties are obtained, in terms of the coefficients of the multi-term fractional differential equation. The theoretical results are exemplified for the particular cases of the Basset and Bagley-Torvik equations, as well as for a multi-term fractional differential equation of an inextensible pendulum with fractional damping terms, and for a fractional harmonic oscillator.
In the present paper, we determine the estimations on Atangana-Baleanu-Caputo fractional derivative at extreme points. With the assistance of the estimations obtained, we derive the comparison results. Peano's type existence results established for nonlinear fractional differential equations involving Atangana-Baleanu-Caputo fractional derivative. The acquired comparison results are then utilized to deal with the existence of local, extremal and global solution.
In this paper, we develop the theory of nonlinear hybrid fractional differential equations involving Atangana--Baleanu--Caputo (ABC) fractional derivative. We construct the equivalent fractional integral equation and establish the existence results through it. Further, we build up the theory of inequalities for ABC--hybrid fractional differential equations and use it to examine the uniqueness, existence of a maximal and minimal solution and the comparison results.
In this paper we consider space-time fractional telegraph equations, where the time derivatives are intended in the sense of Hilfer and Hadamard while the space fractional derivatives are meant in the sense of Riesz-Feller. We provide the Fourier transforms of the solutions of some Cauchy problems for these fractional equations. Probabilistic interpretations of some specific cases are also provided.
This is a first version of a paper concerning abstract evolution equation with fractional time derivatives. Maximal regularity results in spaces of continuous and Hoelder continuous functions are described.
We prove the uniqueness in determining both orders of fractional time derivatives and spatial derivatives in diffusion equations by pointwise data. The proof relies on the eigenfunction expansion and the asymptotics of the Mittag-Leffler function.
A numerical scheme for solving fractional initial value problems involving the Atangana-Baleanu fractional derivative is presented. Some examples for the proposed method are included, both for equations and systems of fractional initial value problems.
We study a nonlocal nonlinear parabolic problem with a fractional time derivative. We prove a Krylov-Safonov type result; mainly, we prove Holder regularity of solutions. Our estimates remain uniform as the order of the fractional time derivative approaches 1.
To study the existence and uniqueness of solutions to Cauchy-type problems for fractional q-difference equations with the bi-ordinal Hilfer fractional q-derivative which is an extension of the Hilfer fractional q-derivative. An approach is based on the equivalence of the nonlinear Cauchy-type problem with a nonlinear Volterra q-integral equation of the second kind. Applying an analog of Banach fixed point theorem we prove the uniqueness and the existence of the solution. Moreover, we present an explicit solution to the q-analog of the Cauchy problem for the linear case.
The present article deals with the similarity method to tackle the fractional Schrodinger equation where the derivative is defined in the Riesz sense. Moreover the procedure of reducing a fractional partial differential equation (FPDE) into an ordinary differential equation (ODE) has been efficiently displayed by means of suitable scaled transform to the proposed fractional equation. Furthermore the ODEs are treated effectively via the Fourier transform. The graphical solutions are also depicted for different fractional derivatives .
We consider fractional diffusion equation with the distributed order Caputo derivative. We prove existence of a weak and regular solution for general uniformly elliptic operator under the assumption that the weight function is only integrable.
In this paper we investigate fractional differential equations with Hilfer fractional derivative of order $1<γ<2$ and type $δ\in [0,1]$ in a Banach space. We introduce a family of general fractional cosine operator functions of order $1<γ<2$ and type $δ\in [0,1]$ and discuss their properties to give a suitable definition of mild solution of a semilinear evolution equation. In last section an example is presented.
We introduce complex order fractional derivatives in models that describe viscoelastic materials. This can not be carried out unrestrictedly, and therefore we derive, for the first time, real valued compatibility constraints, as well as physical constraints that lead to acceptable models. As a result, we introduce a new form of complex order fractional derivative. Also, we consider a fractional differential equation with complex derivatives, and study its solvability. Results obtained for stress relaxation and creep are illustrated by several numerical examples.
The article constructs a general solution of a degenerate equation with a fractional derivative of Dzhrbashyan-Nersesyan. Particular solutions are presented through the Kilbas-Saigo function.
The mixed problem for a degenerate high order equation with a fractional derivative in a rectangular domain is considered in the article. The existence of a solution and its uniqueness are shown by the spectral method.
We study regularity for a parabolic problem with fractional diffusion in space and a fractional time derivative. Our main result is a De Giorgi-Nash-Moser Holder regularity theorem for solutions in a divergence form equation. We also prove results regarding existence, uniqueness, and higher regularity in time.
We prove uniqueness for weak solutions to abstract parabolic equations with the fractional Marchaud or Caputo time derivative. We consider weak solutions in time for divergence form equations when the fractional derivative is transferred to the test function.
In this paper, with the help of previously constructed self-similar solutions, we construct a solution to a Cauchy-type problem for an even-order high-order equation with a fractional derivative in the sense of Hilfer
The Caputo time-derivative is usually defined pointwise for well-behaved functions, say, for continuously differentiable functions. Accordingly, in the theory of the partial fractional differential equations with the Caputo derivatives, the functional spaces where the solutions are looked for are often the spaces of the smooth functions that are too narrow. In this paper, we introduce a suitable definition of the Caputo derivative in the fractional Sobolev spaces and investigate it from the operator theoretic viewpoint. In particular, some important equivalences of the norms related to the fra…
In the present work we discuss higher order multi-term partial differential equation (PDE) with the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative in time. We investigate a boundary value problem for fractional heat equation involving higher order Caputo-Fabrizio derivatives in time-variable. Using method of separation of variables and integration by parts, we reduce fractional order PDE to the integer order. We represent explicit solution of formulated problem in particular case by Fourier series.
A new definition of a fractional derivative has recently been developed, making use of a fractional Dirac delta function as its integral kernel. This derivative allows for the definition of a distributional fractional derivative, and as such paves a way for application to many other areas of analysis involving distributions. This includes (but is not limited to): the fractional Fourier series (i.e. an orthonormal basis for fractional derivatives), the fractional derivative of Fourier transforms, and fundamental solutions to differential equations such as the wave equation. This paper observes …
This paper is devoted to study the nonlinear sequential fractional boundary value problems involving generalized $ψ$-Caputo fractional derivatives with nonlocal boundary conditions. We investigate the Green function and some of its properties, from which we obtain a new Lyapunov-type inequality for our problem. A lower bound for the possible eigenvalues of our problem is derived. Furthermore, we apply some properties of the Green function to obtain some existence results for our problem. It is worth mentioning that our results still work with some source functions including singularities.
This work aims to use the homotopy analysis method to obtain analytical solutions of linear time-fractional Navier-Stokes equations with cylindrical coordinates and of a system of nonlinear time-fractional Navier-Stokes equations with Cartesian coordinates. These equations are described in the $ψ$-Caputo time-fractional derivative. The solutions obtained for time-fractional Navier-Stokes equations are graphically presented.
We study existence, uniqueness and regularity properties of classical solutions to viscous Hamilton-Jacobi equations with Caputo time-fractional derivative. Our study relies on a combination of a gradient bound for the time-fractional Hamilton-Jacobi equation obtained via nonlinear adjoint method and sharp estimates in Sobolev and Hölder spaces for the corresponding linear problem.
We prove maximum and comparison principles for fractional discrete derivatives in the integers. Regularity results when the space is a mesh of length $h$, and approximation theorems to the continuous fractional derivatives are shown. When the functions are good enough, these approximation procedures give a measure of the order of approximation. These results also allows us to prove the coincidence, for good enough functions, of the Marchaud and Grünwald-Letnikov derivatives in every point and the speed of convergence to the Grünwald-Letnikov derivative. The fractional discrete derivative will …
We prove that the (nonlocal) Marchaud fractional derivative in $\mathbb{R}$ can be obtained from a parabolic extension problem with an extra (positive) variable, as the operator that maps the heat conduction equation to the Neumann condition. Some properties of the fractional derivative are deduced from those of the local operator. In particular we prove a Harnack principle for Marchaud-stationary functions.
In this paper we obtain new estimates of the Hadamard fractional derivatives of a function at its extreme points. The extremum principle is then applied to show that the initial-boundary-value problem for linear and nonlinear time-fractional diffusion equations possesses at most one classical solution and this solution depends continuously on the initial and boundary conditions. The extremum principle for an elliptic equation with a fractional Hadamard derivative is also proved.
We define fractional derivatives $\pppa$ in Sobolev spaces based on $L^p(0,T)$ by an operator theory, and characterize the domain of $\pppa$ in subspaces of the Sobolev-Slobodecki spaces $W^{α,p}(0,T)$. Moreover we define $\pppa u$ for $u\in L^p(0,T)$ in a sense of distribution. Then we discuss initial value problems for linear fractional ordinary differential equations by means of such $\pppa$ and establish several results on the unique existence of solutions within specified classes according to the regularity of the coefficients and the non-homogeneous terms in the equations.
In this paper, with the help of previously constructed self-similar solutions, a solution of the Cauchy problem for an equation of even order with a fractional Riemann-Liouville derivative of order $1<α<2$ is obtained.
This paper deals with the fractional Caputo--Fabrizio derivative and some basic properties related. A computation of this fractional derivative to power functions is given in terms of Mittag--Lefler functions. The inverse operator named the fractional Integral of Caputo--Fabrizio is also analyzed. The main result consists in the proof of existence and uniqueness of a global solution to a nonlinear fractional differential equation, which has been solved previously for short times by Lozada and Nieto (Progr. Fract. Differ. Appl., 1(2):87--92, 2015). The effects of memory as well as the convergen…
In this work I consider the abstract Cauchy problems with Caputo fractional time derivative of order $α\in(0,1]$, and discuss the continuity of the respective solutions regarding the parameter $α$. I also present a study about the continuity of the Mittag-Leffler families of operators (for $α\in(0,1]$), induced by sectorial operators.
We consider nonlinear nonlocal diffusive evolution equations, governed by fractional Laplace-type operators, fractional time derivative and involving porous medium type nonlinearities. Existence and uniqueness of weak solutions are established using approximating solutions and the theory of maximal monotone operators. Using the De Giorgi-Nash-Moser technique, we prove that the solutions are bounded and Hölder continuous for all positive time.
We prove two maximal regularity results in spaces of continuous and Hölder continuous functions, for a mixed linear Cauchy-Dirichlet problem with a fractional time derivative $\mathbb{D}_t^α$. This derivative is intended in the sense of Caputo and $α$ is taken in $(0, 2)$. In case $α= 1$, we obtain maximal regularity results for mixed parabolic problems already known in mathematica literature.
This article proves the uniqueness for two kinds of inverse problems of identifying fractional orders in diffusion equations with multiple time-fractional derivatives by pointwise observation. By means of eigenfunction expansion and Laplace transform, we reduce the uniqueness for our inverse problems to the uniqueness of expansions of some special function and complete the proof.
In this short note, we present a Lyapunov-type inequality that corrects the recently obtained result in [M. Kirane, B. T. Torebek: A Lyapunov-type inequality for a fractional boundary value problem with Caputo-Fabrizio derivative, J. Math. Inequal. 12, 4(2018), 1005-1012].
In this paper we introduce Lipschitz spaces with respect to the Gaussian measure, and study the boundedness of the fractional integral and fractional derivative operators on them. The methods are general enough to provide alternative proofs of the ones given in the classical case and moreover can be extended to the case of Laguerre and Jacobi expansions too
In this paper we develop a method to solve evolution equations on Gelfand triples with time-fractional derivative based on monotonicity techniques. Applications include deterministic and stochastic quasi-linear partial differential equations with time-fractional derivatives, including time-fractional (stochastic) porous media equations (including the case where the Laplace operator is also fractional) and $p$-Laplace equations as special cases.
Using the concept of fractional derivatives of Riemann$-$Liouville on time scales, we first introduce right fractional Sobolev spaces and characterize them. Then, we prove the equivalence of some norms in the introduced spaces, and obtain their completeness, reflexivity, separability and some imbeddings. Finally, as an application, we propose a recent method to study the existence of weak solutions of fractional boundary value problems on time scales by using variational method and critical point theory, and by constructing an appropriate variational setting, we obtain two existence results of…
This paper deals with the investigation of the computational solutions of an unified fractional reaction-diffusion equation, which is obtained from the standard diffusion equation by replacing the time derivative of first order by the generalized fractional time-derivative defined by Hilfer (2000), the space derivative of second order by the Riesz-Feller fractional derivative and adding the function phi(x,t) which is a nonlinear function overning reaction. The solution is derived by the application of the Laplace and Fourier transforms in a compact and closed form in terms of the H-function. T…
The identification of the right order of the equation in applied fractional modeling plays an important role. In this paper we consider an inverse problem for determining the order of time fractional derivative in a subdiffusion equation with an arbitrary second order elliptic differential operator. We prove that the additional information about the solution at a fixed time instant at a monitoring location, as "the observation data", identifies uniquely the order of the fractional derivative.
In a rectangular domain, a boundary-value problem is considered for a mixed-type equation with a regularized Caputo-like counterpart of hyper-Bessel differential operator and the bi-ordinal Hilfer's fractional derivative. Using the method of separation of variables, Laplace transform, a unique solvability of the considered problem has been established. Moreover, we have found the explicit solution of initial problems for a differential equation with the bi-ordinal Hilfer's derivative and regularized Caputo-like counterpart of the hyper-Bessel differential operator with the non-zero starting po…
