In arXiv:1004.1407, Flandoli, Gubinelli, and Priola proposed a stochastic variant of the classical point vortex system of Helmholtz and Kirchoff in which multiplicative noise of transport-type is added to the dynamics. An open problem in the years since is to show that in the mean-field scaling regime, in which the circulations are inversely proportional to the number of vortices, the empirical measure of the system converges to a solution of a two-dimensional Euler vorticity equation with multiplicative noise. By developing a stochastic extension of the modulated-energy method of Serfaty and Duerinckx for mean-field limits of deterministic particle systems and by building on ideas introduced by the author for studying such limits at the scaling-critical regularity of the mean-field equation, we solve this problem under minimal assumptions.
We prove finite speed of propagation for the multiplicative stochastic wave equation in two and three dimensions which leads us to a global space-time well-posedness result for the cubic nonlinear equation in the analogue of the energy space.
In this article, we study Stochastic mass critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations with a multiplicative noise in 3D with a slight time decay ($\langle t \rangle^{-ε}$), and prove associated space-time bound and scattering behavior.
In this paper we focus on the stochastic Euler-Poincaré equations with pseudo-differential/multiplicative noise. We first establish two new cancellation properties on pseudo-differential operators, which play a key role in energy estimate. Then, we obtain results on local solution, blow-up criterion and global existence. The interplay between stability on exiting times and continuous dependence of solution on initial data are also studied for the multiplicative noise case.
Existence and uniqueness of solutions to the stochastic heat equation with multiplicative spatial noise is studied. In the spirit of pathwise regularization by noise, we show that a perturbation by a sufficiently irregular continuous path establish wellposedness of such equations, even when the drift and diffusion coefficients are given as generalized functions or distributions. In addition we prove regularity of the averaged field associated to a Lévy fractional stable motion, and use this as an example of a perturbation regularizing the multiplicative stochastic heat equation.
We describe sufficient conditions on the reaction terms and multiplicative noise terms of a stochastic reaction-diffusion equation that guarantee that the solutions never explode. Both the reaction term and multiplicative noise terms are allowed to grow superlinearly.
Under non-periodic boundary conditions, we consider the long-time behavior for stochastic 2D nematic liquid crystals flows with velocity and orientations perturbed by additive noise and multiplicative noise respectively. It is the first result for the long-time behavior of stochastic nematic liquid crystals under Dirichlet boundary condition for velocity field and Neumann boundary condition for orientation field.
We consider a $p$-Laplace evolution problem with multiplicative noise on a bounded domain $D \subset \mathbb{R}^d$ with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions for $1<p< \infty$. The random initial data is merely integrable. Consequently, the key estimates are available with respect to truncations of the solution. We introduce the notion of renormalized solutions for multiplicative stochastic $p$-Laplace equations with $L^1$-initial data and study existence and uniqueness of solutions in this framework.
We proved that there exists a unique invariant measure for solutions of stochastic conservation laws with Dirichlet boundary condition driven by multiplicative noise. Moreover, a polynomial mixing property is established. This is done in the setting of kinetic solutions taking values in an L^1-weighted space.
In this article we establish strong convergence rates on the whole probability space for explicit full-discrete approximations of stochastic Burgers equations with multiplicative trace-class noise. The key step in our proof is to establish uniform exponential moment estimates for the numerical approximations.
A condition is identified that implies that solutions to the stochastic reaction-diffusion equation $\frac{\partial u}{\partial t} = \mathcal{A} u + f(u) + σ(u) \dot{W}$ on a bounded spatial domain never explode. We consider the case where $σ$ grows polynomially and $f$ is polynomially dissipative, meaning that $f$ strongly forces solutions toward finite values. This result demonstrates the role that the deterministic forcing term $f$ plays in preventing explosion.
We carry out the construction of some ill-posed multiplicative stochastic heat equations on unbounded domains. The two main equations our result covers are, on the one hand the parabolic Anderson model on $\mathbf{R}^3$, and on the other hand the KPZ equation on $\mathbf{R}$ via the Cole-Hopf transform. To perform these constructions, we adapt the theory of regularity structures to the setting of weighted Besov spaces. One particular feature of our construction is that it allows one to start both equations from a Dirac mass at the initial time.
We give decay estimates of the solution to the linear Schrödinger equation in dimension $d \geq 3$ with a small noise which is white in time and colored in space. As a consequence, we also obtain certain asymptotic behaviour of the solution. The proof relies on the bootstrapping argument used by Journé-Soffer-Sogge for decay of deterministic Schrödinger operators.
A stochastic affine evolution equation with bilinear noise term is studied where the driving process is a real-valued fractional Brownian motion. Stochastic integration is understood in the Skorokhod sense. Existence and uniqueness of weak solution is proved and some results on the large time dynamics are obtained
We prove the global space-time bound for the mass critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation perturbed by a small multiplicative noise in dimension three. The associated scattering behavior are also obtained. We also prove a global Strichartz space-time bound for the linear stochastic model, which is new itself and serves a prototype model for the nonlinear case. The proof combines techniques from \cite{fan2018global}, \cite{fan2020long} as well as local smoothing estimates for linear Schrödinger operators.
In this paper, we establish the well-posedness and optimal trajectory regularity for the solution of stochastic evolution equations with generalized Lipschitz-type coefficients driven by general multiplicative noises. To ensure the well-posedness of the problem, the linear operator of the equations is only need to be a generator of a $\CC_0$-semigroup and the proposed noises are quite general, which include space-time white noise and rougher noises. When the linear operator generates an analytic $\CC_0$-semigroup, we derive the optimal trajectory regularity of the solution through a generalize…
This work exhibits a novel phase transition for the classical stochastic block model (SBM). In addition we study the SBM in the corresponding near-critical regime, and find the scaling limit for the component sizes. The two-parameter stochastic process arising in the scaling limit, an analogue of the standard Aldous' multiplicative coalescent, is interesting in its own right. We name it the (standard) Interacting Multiplicative Coalescent. To the best of our knowledge, this object has not yet appeared in the literature.
In this paper, we established a quadratic transportation cost inequality for solutions of stochastic reaction diffusion equations driven by multiplicative space-time white noise based on a new inequality we proved for the moments (under the uniform norm) of the stochastic convolution with respect to space-time white noise, which is of independent interest. The solutions of such stochastic partial differential equations are typically not semimartingales on the state space.
We show that the solutions to the damped stochastic wave equation converge pathwise to the solution of a stochastic heat equation. This is called the Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation. Cerrai and Freidlin have previously demonstrated that this result holds in the cases where the system is exposed to additive noise in any spatial dimension or when the system is exposed to multiplicative noise and the spatial dimension is one. The current paper proves that the Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation is valid in any spatial dimension when the system is exposed to multiplicative noise.
We investigate the dynamical behavior of pull-back trajectories for nonautonomous stochastic feedback systems with multiplicative noise. We proved that there exists a random periodic solution of this system and all pull-back trajectories converge to this random periodic solution as time goes to infinitely almost surely. Our results can be applied to nonautonomous stochastic Goodwin negative feedback system, nonautonomous stochastic Othmer-Tyson positive feedback system and nonautonomous stochastic competitive systems etc.
Here is investigated the bilinear optimal control problem of quantum mechanical systems with final observation governed by a stochastic nonlinear Schrödinger equation perturbed by a linear multiplicative Wiener process. The existence of an open loop optimal control and first order Lagrange optimality conditions are derived, via Skorohod's representation theorem, Ekeland's variational principle and the existence for the linearized dual backward stochastic equation. Moreover, our approach in particular applies to the deterministic case.
Upper semi-continuity of random attractors and existence of invariant measures for nonlocal stochastic Swift-Hohenberg equation with multiplicative noise
This article deals with stochastic partial differential equations with quadratic nonlinearities perturbed by small additive and multiplicative noise. We present the approximate solution of the original equation via the amplitude equation and give the rigorous error analysis. For illustration, we apply our main theorems to stochastic Burger's equation.
This paper concerns the convergence of an iterative scheme for 2D stochastic primitive equations on a bounded domain. The stochastic system is split into two equations: a deterministic 2D primitive equations with random initial value and a linear stochastic parabolic equation, which are both simpler for numerical computations. An estimate of approximation error is given, which implies that the strong speed rate of the convergence in probability is almost $\frac{1}{2}$.
The characterization of the covariance function of the solution process to a stochastic partial differential equation is considered in the parabolic case with multiplicative Lévy noise of affine type. For the second moment of the mild solution, a well-posed deterministic space-time variational problem posed on projective and injective tensor product spaces is derived, which subsequently leads to a deterministic equation for the covariance function.
We investigate the bifurcation phenomena for stochastic systems with multiplicative Gaussian noise, by examining qualitative changes in mean phase portraits. Starting from the Fokker-Planck equation for the probability density function of solution processes, we compute the mean orbits and mean equilibrium states. A change in the number or stability type, when a parameter varies, indicates a stochastic bifurcation. Specifically, we study stochastic bifurcation for three prototypical dynamical systems (i.e., saddle-node, transcritical, and pitchfork systems) under multiplicative Gaussian noise, …
We show that for $γ<\sqrt{4/3}$, it is possible to define the Levy area of a planar Brownian motion with the Liouville measure of intermittency parameter $γ$ as the underlying area measure. We also consider the case of smoother curves, and study some properties of the integration map thus defined.
We show that singular stochastic delay differential equations (SDDEs) induce cocycle maps on a field of Banach spaces. A general Multiplicative Ergodic Theorem on fields of Banach spaces is proved and applied to linear SDDEs. In Part II of this article, we use our results to prove a stable manifold theorem for non-linear singular SDDEs.
We introduce a variant of the multiplicative Sewing Lemma in [Gerasimovičs, Hocquet, Nilssen; J. Funct. Anal. 281 (2021)] which yields arbitrary high order weak approximations to stochastic differential equations, extending the cubature approximation on Wiener space introduced by Lyons and Victoir. Our analysis allows to derive stability estimates and explicit weak convergence rates. As a particular example, a cubature approximation for stochastic differential equations driven by continuous Gaussian martingales is given.
The main goal of this article is to study the effect of small, highly nonlinear, unbounded drifts (small time large deviation principle (LDP) based on exponential equivalence arguments) for a class of stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) with fully monotone coefficients driven by multiplicative Gaussian noise. The small time LDP obtained in this paper is applicable for various quasi-linear and semilinear SPDEs such as porous medium equations, Cahn-Hilliard equation, 2D Navier-Stokes equations, convection-diffusion equation, 2D liquid crystal model, power law fluids, Ladyzhenskaya …
We study a quite general class of stochastic dispersive equations with linear multiplicative noise, including especially the Schrödinger and Airy equations. The pathwise Strichartz and local smoothing estimates are derived here in both the conservative and nonconservative case. In particular, we obtain the P-integrability of constants in these estimates, where P is the underlying probability measure. Several applications are given to nonlinear problems, including local well-posedness of stochastic nonlinear Schrödinger equations with variable coefficients and lower order perturbations, integra…
