We investigate the presence of vortex structures in a Maxwell model with a logarithmic generalization. This generalization becomes important because it generates stationary field solutions in models that describe the dynamics of a scalar field. In this work, we will choose to investigate the dynamics of the complex scalar field with the gauge field governed by Maxwell term. For this, we will investigate the Bogomol'nyi equations to describe the static field configurations. Then, we show numerically that the complex scalar field solutions that generate minimum energy configurations have internal structures. Finally, assuming a planar vision, the magnetic field and the density energy show the interesting feature of the ringlike vortex.
Topological vortices in relativistic gauge theories in flat three-dimensional spacetime are investigated. We consider the symmetry $\rm{U(1)}\times...\times \rm{U(1)}$, and for each $\rm{U(1)}$ subgroup, a complex scalar field transforming under its action is introduced, as well as generalized permeabilities through which the subsystems are coupled. We investigate in detail the features of static, finite energy solutions within this class of generalized Maxwell-Higgs models, and study the effect of the winding numbers in the magnetic properties of each subsystem. A BPS bound and the related fi…
In this work we deal with vortices in Maxwell-Higgs or Chern-Simons-Higgs models that engender long range tails. We find first order differential equations that support minimum energy solutions which solve the equations of motion. In the Maxwell scenario, we work with generalised magnetic permeabilities that lead to vortices described by solutions, magnetic field and energy density with power-law tails that extend farther than the standard exponential ones. We also find a manner to obtain a Chern-Simons model with the same scalar and magnetic field profiles of the Maxwell case. By doing so, we…
This work introduces a procedure to obtain vortex configurations described by first order equations in generalized Maxwell-Chern-Simons models without the inclusion of a neutral field. The results show that the novel methodology is capable of inducing important modification in the vortex core, leading to vortex configurations with unconventional features.
We investigate the existence of first-order vortices inherent to both the Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Higgs and the Maxwell-Chern-Simons-$CP(2)$ models extended via the inclusion of an extra scalar sector which plays the role of a source field. For both cases, we focus our attention on the time-independent configurations with radial symmetry which can be obtained through the implementation of the so-called Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield (BPS) prescription. In this sense, in order to solve the corresponding first-order differential equations, we introduce some particular scenarios which are driven by …
We consider a Maxwell-$CP(2)$ model extended to include a magnetic impurity. We focus our attention on the time-independent configurations with radial symmetry, from which we minimize the corresponding energy by following the Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield (BPS) prescription. We use the general first-order expressions in order to introduce modified scenarios in which the impurity plays a relevant role. We then solve the effective first-order equations numerically by means of a finite-difference scheme, from which we comment on the main changes on the shape of the final solutions caused by the …
In this paper we show how to derive the Bogomolny's equations of the generalized self-dual Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Higgs model presented in \cite{Bazeia:2012ux} by using the BPS Lagrangian method with a particular choice of the BPS Lagrangian density. We also show that the identification, potential terms, and Gauss's law constraint can be derived rigorously under the BPS Lagrangian method. In this method, we find that the potential terms are the most general form that could have the BPS vortex solutions. The Gauss's law constraint turns out to be the Euler-Lagrange equations of the BPS Lagrangian…
We study black hole solutions of $D=4$ Einstein-Maxwell theory coupled to a charged scalar field that are holographically dual to a $d=3$ conformal field theory with a non-vanishing chemical potential and constant magnetic field. We numerically construct black hole solutions that are dual to a superfluid phase with a periodic lattice of vortices. For the specific model we investigate, we find that the thermodynamically preferred configuration is given by a triangular lattice and moreover the vortices are associated with the lowest Landau level. We also construct black holes describing a lattic…
We introduced a generalized Maxwell-Higgs model in a $(3+1)$ isotropic spacetime, and we found their stationary solutions using the BPS approach in curved spacetime. In order to investigate the compact-like vortices, we assume a particular choice for the generalization term. The model is controlled by a potential driven by a single real parameter that can be used to change the vortex solutions profile as they approach their bound values. Resembling some flat spacetime vortex solutions, our model tends to compress the vortices when the parameter $l$ increases. Through numerical analysis, we als…
