We give a construction that takes a simple linear algebraic group $G$ over a field and produces a commutative, unital, and simple non-associative algebra $A$ over that field. Two attractions of this construction are that (1) when $G$ has type $E_8$, the algebra $A$ is obtained by adjoining a unit to the 3875-dimensional representation and (2) it is effective, in that the product operation on $A$ can be implemented on a computer. A description of the algebra in the $E_8$ case has been requested for some time, and interest has been increased by the recent proof that $E_8$ is the full automorphism group of that algebra. The algebras obtained by our construction have an unusual Peirce spectrum.
In this paper, homological methods together with the theory of formal languages of theoretical computer science are proved to be effective tools to determine the growth and the Hilbert series of an associative algebra. Namely, we construct a class of finitely presented associative algebras related to a family of context-free languages. This allows us to connect the Hilbert series of these algebras with the generating functions of such languages. In particular, we obtain a class of finitely presented graded algebras with non-rational algebraic Hilbert series.
This paper is devoted to the complete algebraic and geometric classification of complex $4$-dimensional nilpotent weakly associative, complex $4$-dimensional symmetric Leibniz algebras, and complex $5$-dimensional nilpotent symmetric Leibniz algebras. In particular, we proved that the variety of complex $4$-dimensional symmetric Leibniz algebras has no Vergne--Grunewald--O'Halloran Property (there is an irreducible component formed by only nilpotent algebras), but on the other hand, it has Vergne Property (there are no rigid nilpotent algebras).
We study associative multiplications in semi-simple associative algebras over C compatible with the usual one or, in other words, linear deformations of semi-simple associative algebras over C. It turns out that these deformations are in one-to-one correspondence with representations of certain algebraic structures, which we call M-structures in the matrix case and PM-structures in the case of direct sums of several matrix algebras. We also investigate various properties of PM-structures, provide numerous examples and describe an important class of PM-structures. The classification of these PM…
In this review article, first we give the concrete formulas of representations and cohomologies of associative algebras, Lie algebras, pre-Lie algebras, Leibniz algebras and 3-Lie algebras and some of their strong homotopy analogues. Then we recall the graded Lie algebras and graded associative algebras that characterize these algebraic structures as Maurer-Cartan elements. The corresponding Maurer-Cartan element equips the graded Lie or associative algebra with a differential. Then the deformations of the given algebraic structures are characterized as the Maurer-Cartan elements of the result…
We give the algebraic classification of alternative, left alternative, Jordan, bicommutative, left commutative, assosymmetric, Novikov and left symmetric central extensions of null-filiform associative algebras.
We describe subalgebras of the Lie algebra $\mf{gl}(n^2)$ that contain all inner derivations of $A=M_n(F)$ (where $n\ge 5$ and $F$ is an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0). In a more general context where $A$ is a prime algebra satisfying certain technical restrictions, we establish a density theorem for the associative algebra generated by all inner derivations of $A$.
Pseudoalgebras, introduced in [BDK], are multi-dimensional analogues of conformal algebras, which provide an axiomatic description of the singular part of the operator product expansion. Our main interest in this paper is the pseudoalgebra Cend_n, which is the analogue of an algebra of endomorphisms of a finite module. We study its algebraic properties. In particular, we introduce the class of unital pseudoalgebras and describe their structure and representations. Also, we classify pseudoalgebras algebraically similar to Cend_n.
In this paper, we consider graded associative conformal algebras. The class of these objects includes pseudo-algebras over non-cocommutative Hopf algebras of regular functions on some linear algebraic groups. In particular, an associative conformal algebra which is graded by a finite group $Γ$ is a pseudo-algebra over the coordinate Hopf algebra of a linear algebraic group $G$ such that the identity component $G^0$ is the affine line and $G/G^0\simeq Γ$. A classification of simple and semisimple graded associative conformal algebras of finite type is obtained.
Let $\boldsymbolΛ_3(\mathbb C)\,(=\mathbb C^{27})$ be the space of structure vectors of $3$-dimensional algebras over $\mathbb C$ considered as a $G$-module via the action of $G={\rm GL}(3,\mathbb C)$ on $\boldsymbolΛ_3(\mathbb C)$ `by change of basis'. We determine the complete degeneration picture inside the algebraic subset $\mathcal A^s_3$ of $\boldsymbolΛ_3(\mathbb C)$ consisting of associative algebra structures via the corresponding information on the algebraic subsets $\mathcal L_3$ and $\mathcal J_3$ of $\boldsymbolΛ_3(\mathbb C)$ of Lie and Jordan algebra structures respectively. Thi…
From the definition and properties of unital hom-associative algebras, and the use of the Kaplansky's constructions, we develop new algebraic structures called 2-hom-associative bialgebras, 2-hom-bialgebras, and 2-2-hom-bialgebras. Besides, we devise a construction of hom-left symmetric dialgebras and discuss their main relevant properties.
The purpose of this paper is to study the structure and the algebraic varieties of Hom-associative algebras. We give characterize multiplicative simple Hom-associative algebras and show some examples deforming the $2\times 2$-matrix algebra to simple Hom-associative algebras. We provide a classification of $n$-dimensional Hom-associative algebras for $n\leq3$. Then study their derivations and compute small Hom-Type Hochschild cohomology groups. Furthermore, we discuss their irreducible components.
We associate an square to any two dimensional evolution algebra. This geometric object is uniquely determined, does not depend on the basis and describes the structure and the behaviour of the algebra. We determine the identities of degrees at most four, as well as derivations and automorphisms. We look at the group of automorphisms as an algebraic group, getting in this form a new algebraic invariant. The study of associative representations of evolution algebras is also started and we get faithful representations for most two-dimensional evolution algebras. In some cases we prove that faithf…
A classification of (countable) direct limits of finite dimensional involution simple associative algebras over an algebraically closed field of arbitrary characteristic is obtained. This also classifies the corresponding dimension groups. The set of invariants consists of two supernatural numbers and two real parameters.
We generalize Baranov and Shlaka's results about bar-minimal Jordan-Lie and regular inner ideals of finite dimensional associative algebras. Let A be a finite dimensional 1-perfect associative algebras A over an algebraically closed field \mathbb{F} of characteristic p\ge0 and let A' be a subalgebra of A. We prove that for any bar-minimal Jordan-Lie inner ideal B' a A', there is a bar-minimal Jordan-Lie inner ideal of A that contains B' and if B' is regular, then is a regular inner ideal of A that contains B'. We also prove that for any strict orthogonal pair (e',f') in A', there is a strict o…
Let $k$ be an algebraically closed field and let $A$ be a finitely generated $k-$algebra. We show that the scheme of n-dimensional representations of $A$ is smooth when $A$ is hereditary and coherent. We deduce from this the smoothness of the Nori-Hilbert scheme associated to $A.$
The purpose of this paper is to study the structure and the algebraic varieties of BiHom-associative algebras. We provide a classication of n-dimensional BiHom-associative and BiHom-bialgebras and BiHom Hopf algebras for n $\le$ 3.
In this article we study homotopes of finite-dimensional algebras (not necessarily, associative). In the case of associative algebras we study homotopes by methods of Category theory and give description of so-called well-tempered elements of finite-dimensional associative algebra in algebraic terms.
We introduce post-associative algebra structures and study their relationship to post-Lie algebra structures, Rota--Baxter operators and decompositions of associative algebras and Lie algebras. We show several results on the existence of such structures. In particular we prove that there exists no post-Lie algebra structure on a pair $(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{n})$, where $\mathfrak{n}$ is a simple Lie algebra and $\mathfrak{g}$ is a reductive Lie algebra, which is not isomorphic to $\mathfrak{n}$. We also show that there is no post-associative algebra structure on a pair $(A,B)$ arising from a …
We introduce an embedding of the free magma on a set A into the direct product of the free magma on a singleton set and the free semigroup on A. This embedding is then used to prove several theorems related to algebraic independence of subsets of the free non-associative algebra on A. Among these theorems is a generalization of a result due to Kurosh, which states that every subalgebra of a free non-associative algebra is also free.
Algebraic scheme for constructing deformations of structure constants for associative algebras generated by a deformation driving algebras (DDAs) is discussed. An ideal of left divisors of zero plays a central role in this construction. Deformations of associative three-dimensional algebras with the DDA being a three-dimensional Lie algebra and their connection with integrable systems are studied.
In this paper we classify the isomorphism classes of four dimensional nilpotent associative algebras over a field F, studying regular subgroups of the affine group AGL_4(F). In particular we provide explicit representatives for such classes when F is a finite field, the real field R or an algebraically closed field.
We develop the basic constructions of homological algebra in the (appropriately defined) unbounded derived categories of modules over algebras over coalgebras over noncommutative rings (which we call semialgebras over corings). We define double-sided derived functors SemiTor and SemiExt of the functors of semitensor product and semihomomorphisms, and construct an equivalence between the exotic derived categories of semimodules and semicontramodules. Certain (co)flatness and/or (co)projectivity conditions have to be imposed on the coring and semialgebra to make the module categories abelian (an…
We equip a matrix algebra with a weighted infinitesimal unitary bialgebraic structure, via a construction of a suitable coproduct. Furthermore, an infinitesimal unitary Hopf algebra, under the view of Aguiar, is constructed on a matrix algebra. By exploring the relationship between weighted infinitesimal bialgebras and pre-Lie algebras, we construct a pre-Lie algebraic structure and then a new Lie algebraic structure on a matrix algebra. We also introduce the weighted associative Yang-Baxter equations (AYBEs) and obtain the relationship between solutions of weighted AYBEs and weighted infinite…
A Hom-algebra structure is a multiplication on a vector space where the structure is twisted by a homomorphism. The structure of Hom-Lie algebra was introduced by Hartwig, Larsson and Silvestrov and extended by Larsson and Silvestrov to quasi-hom Lie and quasi-Lie algebras. In this paper we introduce and study Hom-associative, Hom-Leibniz, and Hom-Lie admissible algebraic structures which generalize the well known associative, Leibniz and Lie admissible algebras. Also, we characterize the flexible Hom-algebras in this case. We also explain some connections between Hom-Lie algebras and Santilli…
Poisson algebra is usually defined to be a commutative algebra together with a Lie bracket, and these operations are required to satisfy the Leibniz rule. We describe Poisson structures in terms of a single bilinear operation. This enables us to explore Poisson algebras in the realm of non-associative algebras. We study their algebraic and cohomological properties, their deformations as non-associative algebras, and give a classification in low dimensions
Suppose a finite dimensional semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$ acts by derivations on a finite dimensional associative or Lie algebra $A$ over a field of characteristic $0$. We prove the $\mathfrak g$-invariant analogs of Wedderburn - Mal'cev and Levi theorems, and the analog of Amitsur's conjecture on asymptotic behavior for codimensions of polynomial identities with derivations of $A$. It turns out that for associative algebras the differential PI-exponent coincides with the ordinary one. Also we prove the analog of Amitsur's conjecture for finite dimensional associative algebras with an …
We give a computional method to construct and classify nilpotent Jordan algebras over any arbitrary fields by the second cohomolgy of nilpotent Jordan algebras of low dimension "analogue of Skjelbred-Sund method", we see that every nilpotent Jordan algebras can be constructed by the second cohomolgy of nilpotent Jordan algebras of low dimension. We use this method to classify nilpotent Jordan algebras up to dimension three over any field and nilpotent Jordan algebras of dimension four over an algebraic closed field of characteristic not 2 and over the real field R. Also commutative nilpotent a…
The paper is devoted to classify nilpotent Jordan algebras of dimension up to five over an algebraically closed field of characteristic not 2. We obtained a list of 35 isolated non-isomorphic 5-dimensional nilpotent non-associative Jordan algebras and 6 families of non-isomorphic 5-dimensional nilpotent non-associative Jordan algebras depending either on one or two parameters over an algebraically closed field of characteristic not 2 or 3. In addition to these algebras we obtained two non-isomorphic 5-dimensional nilpotent non-associative Jordan algebras over an algebraically closed field of c…
Motivated by the Mathieu conjecture [Ma], the image conjecture [Z3] and the well-known Jacobian conjecture [K] (see also [BCW] and [E]), the notion of Mathieu subspaces as a natural generalization of the notion of ideals has been introduced recently in [Z4] for associative algebras. In this paper, we first study algebraic elements in the radicals of Mathieu subspaces of associative algebras over fields and prove some properties and characterizations of Mathieu subspaces with algebraic radicals. We then give some characterizations or classifications for strongly simple algebras (the algebras wi…
A finite-dimensional unital and associative algebra over $\mathbb{R}$, or what we shall call simply "an algebra" in this paper for short, generalities the construction by which we derive the complex numbers by "adjoining an element $i$" to $\mathbb{R}$ and imposing the relation $i^2 = -1$. In this paper, we examine some of the elementary algebraic properties of such algebras, how they break-down when compared to standard grade-school algebra, and discuss how such properties are relevant to other areas of our research regarding algebras, such as the $\mathcal{A}$-calculus and the theory of $\ma…
We present a unifying framework for the key concepts and results of higher Koszul duality theory for N-homogeneous algebras: the Koszul complex, the candidate for the space of syzygies, and the higher operations on the Yoneda algebra. We give a universal description of the Koszul dual algebra under a new algebraic structure. For that we introduce a general notion: Gröbner bases for algebras over non-symmetric operads.
This is a survey paper on algorithms that have been developed during the last 25 years for the explicit computation of the structure of an associative algebra of finite dimension over either a finite field or an algebraic number field. This constructive approach was initiated in 1985 by Friedl and Ronyai and has since been developed by Cohen, de Graaf, Eberly, Giesbrecht, Ivanyos, Kuronya and Wales. I illustrate these algorithms with the case n = 2 of the rational semigroup algebra of the partial transformation semigroup PT_n on n elements; this generalizes the full transformation semigroup an…
The theory of abstract kernels in non-trivial extensions for many kinds of algebraical objects, such as groups, rings and graded rings, associative algebras, Lie algebras, restricted Lie algebras, DG-algebras and DG-Lie algebras, has been widely studied since 1940's. Gerhard Hochschild firstly treats associative algebra as an generic type in the series of kernel problems. He proves the theorem of constructing kernel by presenting many tedious relations that may lost the readers today. In this paper, we shall illustrate the formulation and recast it for Lie algebra(-oid) kernels. We also prove …
We show that the universal associative enveloping algebra of the simple anti-Jordan triple system of all $n \times n$ matrices $(n \ge 2)$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 is finite dimensional. We investigate the structure of the universal envelope and focus on the monomial basis, the structure constants, and the center. We explicitly determine the decomposition of the universal envelope into matrix algebras. We classify all finite dimensional irreducible representations of the simple anti-Jordan triple system, and show that the universal envelope is semisimple. We also …
