In this note, we study the existence and uniqueness of a positive solution to a doubly singular fractional problem with nonregular data. Besides, for some cases, we will show the existence and uniqueness of another notion of a solution, so-called entropy solution. Also, with suitable assumptions on data, we will discuss the uniqueness. Finally, we will have some relaxation on the assumption to prove the existence results.
In this paper, we consider a fractional p-Laplacian system with both concave-convex nonlinearities and sign-changing weight functions in bounded domains. With the help of the Nehari\ manifold, we prove that the system has at least two nontrivial solutions when the pair of the parameters $(λ,μ)$ belongs to a certain subset of $\mathbb{R}^{n}$

We obtain nontrivial solutions of a $(N,q)$-Laplacian problem with a critical Trudinger-Moser nonlinearity in a bounded domain. In addition to the usual difficulty of the loss of compactness associated with problems involving critical nonlinearities, this problem lacks a direct sum decomposition suitable for applying the classical linking theorem. We show that every Palais-Smale sequence at a level below a certain energy threshold admits a subsequence that converges weakly to a nontrivial critical point of the variational functional. Then we prove an abstract critical point theorem based on a …
We prove existence and multiplicity results for a $N$-Laplacian problem with a critical exponential nonlinearity that is a natural analog of the Brezis-Nirenberg problem for the borderline case of the Sobolev inequality. This extends results in the literature for the semilinear case $N = 2$ to all $N \ge 2$. When $N > 2$ the nonlinear operator $- Δ_N$ has no linear eigenspaces and hence this extension requires new abstract critical point theorems that are not based on linear subspaces. We prove new abstract results based on the ${\mathbb Z}_2$-cohomological index and a related pseudo-index tha…
We study the existence of least energy sign-changing solution for the fractional equation $(-Δ)^{s} u=|u|^{2_{s}^{*}-2}u+λf(x,u)$ in a smooth bounded domain $Ω$ of $\mathbb{R}^{N},$ $u=0$ in $\mathbb{R}^{N}\setminus Ω$, where $s\in (0,1)$ and $2_{s}^{*}$ is the fractional critical Sobolev exponent. The proof is based on constrained minimization in a subset of Nehari manifold, containing all the possible sign-changing solutions of the equation.
We show optimal existence, nonexistence and regularity results for nonnegative solutions to Dirichlet problems as $$ \begin{cases} \displaystyle -Δ_1 u = g(u)|D u|+h(u)f & \text{in}\;Ω,\\ u=0 & \text{on}\;\partialΩ, \end{cases} $$ where $Ω$ is an open bounded subset of $\mathbb{R}^N$, $f\geq 0$ belongs to $L^N(Ω)$, and $g$ and $h$ are continuous functions that may blow up at zero. As a noteworthy fact we show how a non-trivial interaction mechanism between the two nonlinearities $g$ and $h$ produces remarkable regularizing effects on the solutions. The sharpness of our main results is discusse…
We prove an abstract critical point theorem based on a cohomological index theory that produces pairs of nontrivial critical points with nontrivial higher critical groups. This theorem yields pairs of nontrivial solutions that are neither local minimizers nor of mountain pass type for problems with combined nonlinearities. Applications are given to subcritical and critical $p$-Laplacian problems, Kirchhoff type nonlocal problems, and critical fractional $p$-Laplacian problems.
This article focuses on a quasilinear wave equation of $p$-Laplacian type: \[ u_{tt} - Δ_p u -Δu_t = f(u) \] in a bounded domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^3$ with a sufficiently smooth boundary $Γ=\partial Ω$ subject to a generalized Robin boundary condition featuring boundary damping and a nonlinear source term. The operator $Δ_p$, $2<p<3$, denotes the classical $p$-Laplacian. The interior and boundary terms $f(u)$, $h(u)$ are sources that are allowed to have a supercritical exponent, in the sense that their associated Nemytskii operators are not locally Lipschitz from $W^{1,p}(Ω)$ into $L^2(Ω)$ o…
In this work, we study the existence of weak solution to the following quasi linear elliptic problem involving the fractional $p$-Laplacian operator, a Hardy potential and multiple critical Sobolev nonlinearities with singularities, \begin{align*} (-Δ_p)^su - μ\dfrac{\vert u \vert^{p-2} u}{\vert x \vert^{ps}} = \dfrac{\vert u\vert^{p^*_s(β)-2}u}{\vert x \vert^β} + \dfrac{\vert u\vert^{p^*_s(α)-2} u}{\vert x \vert^α}, \end{align*} where $ x \in \mathbb{R}^N$, $u\in D^{s,p}(\mathbb{R}^N)$, $0<s<1$, $1<p<+\infty$, $N>sp$, $0<α<sp$, $0<β<sp$, $β\neqα$, $μ< μ_H := \inf_{u \in D^{s,p}(\mathbb{R}^N) …
In this paper we study the existence of multiple nontrivial positive weak solutions to the following system of problems. \begin{align*} \begin{split} -Δ_{p}u-Δ_q u &= λf(x)|u|^{r-2}u+ν\frac{1-α}{2-α-β}h(x) |u|^{-α}|v|^{1-β}\,\,\mbox{in}\,\,Ω,\\ -Δ_{p}v-Δ_q v &= μg(x)|v|^{r-2}v+ν\frac{1-β}{2-α-β}h(x) |u|^{1-α}|v|^{-β}\,\,\mbox{in}\,\,Ω,\\ u,v&>0\,\,\mbox{in}\,\,Ω,\\ u= v &= 0\,\, \mbox{on}\,\, \partialΩ\end{split} \end{align*} where (C):~$0<α<1,\;0<β<1,$ $2-α-β<q<\frac{N(p-1)}{N-p}<p<r<p^*$, with $p^*=\frac{Np}{N-p}$. We will guarantee the existence of a solution in the Nehari manifold. Further…
In this paper, we develop a sliding method for the fractional Laplacian. We first obtain the key ingredients needed in the sliding method either in a bounded domain or in the whole space, such as narrow region principles and maximum principles in unbounded domains. Then using semi-linear equations involving the fractional Laplacian in both bounded domains and in the whole space, we illustrate how this new sliding method can be employed to obtain monotonicity of solutions. Some new ideas are introduced. Among which, one is to use Poisson integral representation of $s$-subharmonic functions in d…
In this note we present the Pohozaev identity for the fractional Laplacian. As a consequence of this identity, we prove the nonexistence of nontrivial bounded solutions to semilinear problems with supercritical nonlinearities in star-shaped domains.
In the present paper, we prove time decay estimates of solutions in weighted Sobolev spaces to the second order evolution equation with fractional Laplacian and damping for data in Besov spaces. Our estimates generalize the estimates obtained in the previous studies. The second aim of this article is to apply these estimates to prove small data global well-posedness for the Cauchy problem of the equation with power nonlinearities. Especially, the estimates obtained in this paper enable us to treat more general conditions on the nonlinearities and the spatial dimension than the results in the p…
In this article using Nehari manifold method we study the multiplicity of solutions of the following nonlocal elliptic system involving variable exponents and concave-convex nonlinearities: \begin{equation*} \;\;\; \begin{array}{rl} (-Δ)_{p(\cdot)}^{s} u&=λ~ a(x)| u|^{q(x)-2}u+\frac{α(x)}{α(x)+β(x)}c(x)| u|^{α(x)-2}u| v| ^{β(x)},\hspace{2mm} x\in Ω; \\ (-Δ)_{p(\cdot)}^{s} v&=μ~ b(x)| v|^{q(x)-2}v+\frac{α(x)}{α(x)+β(x)}c(x)| v|^{α(x)-2}v| u| ^{β(x)},\hspace{2.5mm} x\in Ω; \\ u=v&=0 ,\hspace{1cm} x\in Ω^c:=\mathbb R^N\setminusΩ, \end{array} \end{equation*} where $Ω\subset\mathbb R^N,~N\geq2$ is …
This paper deals with existence of solutions to the following fractional $p$-Laplacian system of equations \begin{equation*} %\tag{$\mathcal P$}\label{MAT1} \begin{cases} (-Δ_p)^s u =|u|^{p^*_s-2}u+ \frac{γα}{p_s^*}|u|^{α-2}u|v|^β\;\;\text{in}\;Ω, (-Δ_p)^s v =|v|^{p^*_s-2}v+ \frac{γβ}{p_s^*}|v|^{β-2}v|u|^α\;\;\text{in}\;Ω, % % u,\;v\in\wsp, \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $s\in(0,1)$, $p\in(1,\infty)$ with $N>sp$, $α,\,β>1$ such that $α+β= p^*_s:=\frac{Np}{N-sp}$ and $Ω=\mathbb{R}^N$ or smooth bounded domains in $\mathbb{R}^N$. For $Ω=\mathbb{R}^N$ and $γ=1$, we show that any ground state so…
In this work, we address the questions of existence, uniqueness, and boundary behavior of the positive weak-dual solution of equation $\mathbb{L}_γ^s u = \mathcal{F}(u)$, posed in a $C^2$ bounded domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$, with appropriate homogeneous boundary or exterior Dirichlet conditions. The operator $\mathbb{L}_γ^s$ belongs to a general class of nonlocal operators including typical fractional Laplacians such as restricted fractional Laplacian, censored fractional Laplacian and spectral fractional Laplacian. The nonlinear term $\mathcal{F}(u)$ covers three different amalgamation of …
We prove several classification results for $p$-Laplacian problems on bounded and unbounded domains, and deal with qualitative properties of sign-changing solutions to $p$-Laplacian equations on $\mathbb R^N$ involving critical nonlinearities. Moreover, on radial domains we characterise the compactness of possibly sign-changing Palais-Smale sequences.
We study the existence of nontrivial solutions for a nonlinear fractional elliptic equation in presence of logarithmic and critical exponential nonlinearities. This problem extends [5] to fractional $N/s$-Laplacian equations with logarithmic nonlinearity. We overcome the lack of compactness due to the critical exponential nonlinearity by using the fractional Trudinger-Moser inequality. The existence result is established via critical point theory.
We prove the existence of a positive solution to a semipositone $N$-Laplacian problem with a critical Trudinger-Moser nonlinearity. The proof is based on obtaining uniform $C^{1,α}$ a priori estimates via a compactness argument. Our result is new even in the semilinear case $N = 2$, and our arguments can easily be adapted to obtain positive solutions of more general semipositone problems with critical Trudinger-Moser nonlinearities.
In this article, we study the existence/multiplicity results for the following variable order nonlocal Choquard problem with variable exponents \begin{equation*} \begin{array}{rl} (-Δ)_{p(\cdot)}^{s(\cdot)}u(x)&=λ|u(x)|^{α(x)-2}u(x)+\left(\DD\int_Ω\frac{F(y,u(y))}{|x-y|^{μ(x,y)}}dy\right)f(x,u(x)),\\ &~\hspace{6cm} x\in Ω, \\ u(x)&=0 ,\hspace{20mm} x\in Ω^c:=\mathbb R^N\setminusΩ, \end{array} \end{equation*} where $\Om\subset\mathbb R^N$ is a smooth and bounded domain, $N\geq 2$, $p,s,μ$ and $α$ are continuous functions on $\mathbb R^N\times\mathbb R^N$ and $f(x,t)$ is continuous function with…
In this paper we consider a class of critical concave convex Ambrosetti-Prodi type problems for the fractional $p$-Laplacian operator. By applying the Linking Theorem and the Mountain Pass Theorem as well, the interaction of the nonlinearities with the first eigenvalue of fractional $p$-Laplacian will be used to prove existence and multiplicity of solutions.
This paper is devoted to the study, with variational technique, of (p,q)-Laplacian equations in presence of general nonlinearities. Especially we obtain the existence result for the zero mass case, which includes a large class of pure power nonlinearities. More general quasilinear problems of Born-Infeld type are also considered.
We consider a nonlinear Dirichlet problem driven by the $(p,q)$-Laplacian with $1<q<p$. The reaction is parametric and exhibits the competing effects of a singular term and of concave and convex nonlinearities. We are looking for positive solutions and prove a bifurcation-type theorem describing in a precise way the set of positive solutions as the parameter varies. Moreover, we show the existence of a minimal positive solution and we study it as a function of the parameter.
In this paper, we study the existence of three solutions for a Kirchhoff equation involving the nonlocal fractional p-Laplacian considering Sobolev and Hardy nonlinearities at subcritical and critical growths. The proof is based on Mountain Pass Theorem, Ekeland's variational principle and constrained minimization in Nehari sets.
We consider a class of parametric Schrödinger equations driven by the fractional $p$-Laplacian operator and involving continuous positive potentials and nonlinearities with subcritical or critical growth. By using variational methods and Ljusternik-Schnirelmann theory, we study the existence, multiplicity and concentration of positive solutions for small values of the parameter.
We consider nonlinear elliptic problems involving a nonlocal operator: the square root of the Laplacian in a bounded domain with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions. For positive solutions to problems with power nonlinearities, we establish existence and regularity results, as well as a priori estimates of Gidas-Spruck type. In addition, among other results, we prove a symmetry theorem of Gidas-Ni-Nirenberg type.
We prove nonexistence of nontrivial bounded solutions to some nonlinear problems involving nonlocal operators of the form \[Lu(x)=\sum a_{ij}\partial_{ij}u+{\rm PV}\int_{\R^n}(u(x)-u(x+y))K(y)dy.\] These operators are infinitesimal generators of symmetric Lévy processes. Our results apply to even kernels $K$ satisfying that $K(y)|y|^{n+σ}$ is nondecreasing along rays from the origin, for some $σ\in(0,2)$ in case $a_{ij}\equiv0$ and for $σ=2$ in case that $(a_{ij})$ is a positive definite symmetric matrix. Our nonexistence results concern Dirichlet problems for $L$ in star-shaped domains with c…
We consider the parabolic, initial value problem $$ v_t =Δ_p(v)+λg(x,v)ϕ_p(v), \quad \text{in $Ω\times (0,\infty),$} $$ \[ v =0, \text{in $\partialΩ\times (0,\infty),$}\tag{IVP} v =v_0\ge0, \text{in $Ω\times \{0\},$} \] where $Ω$ is a bounded domain in ${\mathbb R}^N$, for some integer $N\ge1$, with smooth boundary $\partialΩ$, $ϕ_p(s):=|s|^{p-1} {\rm sgn}s$, $s\in{\mathbb R}$, $Δ_p$ denotes the $p$-Laplacian, with $p>\max\{2,N\}$, $v_0\in C^0(\overlineΩ)$, and $λ>0$. The function $g:\overline{Ω} \times [0,\infty)\to(0,\infty)$ is $C^0$ and, for each $x\in\overline{Ω}$, the function $g(x,\cdot…
We prove a result of existence of positive solutions of the Dirichlet problem for $-Δ_p u=\mathrm{w}(x)f(u,\nabla u)$ in a bounded domain $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^N$, where $Δ_p$ is the $p$-Laplacian and $\mathrm{w}$ is a weight function. As in previous results by the authors, and in contrast with the hypotheses usually made, no asymptotic behavior is assumed on $f$, but simple geometric assumptions on a neighborhood of the first eigenvalue of the $p$-Laplacian operator. We start by solving the problem in a radial domain by applying the Schauder Fixed Point Theorem and this result is used to constr…
We study the following nonlinear Choquard equation driven by a fractional Laplacian: $$ (-Δ)^{s}u+ u =(|x|^{-μ}\ast F(u))f(u)|{4.14mm}{in}|{1.14mm} \mathbb{R}^N, $$ with $N\geq3$, $s\in(0,1)$ and $μ\in(0,N)$. By Supposing that the nonlinearities satisfy the general Berestycki-Lions type conditions \cite{BL}, we are able to prove the existence of groundstates for this equation by variational methods.
This paper studies a nonlinear Dirichlet problem for the $p$-Laplacian operator with nonlinearity consisting of power components. The problem under consideration can be though of as a perturbation of the Ambrosetti-Brezis-Cerami problem with concave-convex nonlinearity. The combined effect of power components in the perturbed nonlinearity allows to establish a higher order multiplicity of positive solutions. We study properties of the perturbed energy functional and prove the existence of three positive solutions to the problem at hand.
We consider a nonlinear Dirichlet problem driven by a variable exponent $p$-Laplacian plus an indefinite potential term. The reaction has the competing effects of a parametric concave (sublinear) term and of a convex (superlinear) perturbation (an anisotropic concave-convex problem). We prove a bifurcation-type theorem describing the changes in the set of positive solutions as the positive parameter $λ$ varies. Also, we prove the existence of minimal positive solutions.
We consider the fractional elliptic inequality with variable-exponent nonlinearity $$ (-Δ)^{\fracα{2}} u+λ\, Δu \geq |u|^{p(x)}, \quad x\in\mathbb{R}^N, $$ where $N\geq 1$, $α\in (0,2)$, $λ\in\mathbb{R}$ is a constant, $p: \mathbb{R}^N\to (1,\infty)$ is a measurable function, and $(-Δ)^{\fracα{2}}$ is the fractional Laplacian operator of order $\fracα{2}$. A Liouville-type theorem is established for the considered problem. Namely, we obtain sufficient conditions under which the only weak solution is the trivial one. Next, we extend our study to systems of fractional elliptic inequalities with …
In this paper, we consider a non-local diffusion equation involving the fractional $p(x)$-Laplacian with nonlinearities of variable exponent type. Employing the sub-differential approach we establish the existence of local solutions. By combining the potential well theory with the Nehari manifold, we obtain the existence of global solutions and finite time blow-up of solutions. Moreover, we study the asymptotic stability of global solutions as time goes to infinity in some variable exponent Lebesgue spaces.
We consider the Dirichlet problem for positive solutions of the equation $-Δ_p (u) = f(u)$ in a convex, bounded, smooth domain $Ω\subset\R^N$, with $f$ locally Lipschitz continuous. \par We provide sufficient conditions guarantying $L^{\infty} $ a priori bounds for positive solutions of some elliptic equations involving the $p$-Laplacian and extend the class of known nonlinearities for which the solutions are $L^{\infty} $ a priori bounded. As a consequence we prove the existence of positive solutions in convex bounded domains.
We consider a stochastic partial differential equation with two logarithmic nonlinearities, with two reflections at 1 and -1 and with a constraint of conservation of the space average. The equation, driven by the derivative in space of a space-time white noise, contains a bi-Laplacian in the drift. The lack of the maximum principle for the bi-Laplacian generates difficulties for the classical penalization method, which uses a crucial monotonicity property. Being inspired by the works of Debussche, Goudenège and Zambotti, we obtain existence and uniqueness of solution for initial conditions in …
We compute critical groups of variational functionals arising from quasilinear elliptic boundary value problems with jumping nonlinearities, when the asymptotic limits of the equation lie in various regions of the plane that are separated by certain curves of the Fucik spectrum. As an application some existence and multiplicity results are established via Morse theoretic and perturbation arguments.
We study the extremal solution for the problem $(-Δ)^s u=λf(u)$ in $Ω$, $u\equiv0$ in $\R^n\setminusΩ$, where $λ>0$ is a parameter and $s\in(0,1)$. We extend some well known results for the extremal solution when the operator is the Laplacian to this nonlocal case. For general convex nonlinearities we prove that the extremal solution is bounded in dimensions $n<4s$. We also show that, for exponential and power-like nonlinearities, the extremal solution is bounded whenever $n<10s$. In the limit $s\uparrow1$, $n<10$ is optimal. In addition, we show that the extremal solution is $H^s(\R^n)$ in an…
We present a construction of harmonic functions on bounded domains for the spectral fractional Laplacian operator and we classify them in terms of their divergent profile at the boundary. This is used to establish and solve boundary value problems associated with nonhomogeneous boundary conditions. We provide a weak-$L^1$ theory to show how problems with measure data at the boundary and inside the domain are well-posed. We study linear and semilinear problems, performing a sub- and supersolution method, and we finally show the existence of large solutions for some power-like nonlinearities.
The main goal of this paper is the study of two kinds of nonlinear problems depending on parameters in unbounded domains. Using a nonstandard variational approach, we first prove the existence of bounded solutions for nonlinear eigenvalue problems involving the fractional Laplace operator and nonlinearities that have subcritical growth. In the second part, based on a variational principle of Ricceri [16], we study a fractional nonlinear problem with two parameters and prove the existence of multiple solutions.
It is established $L^{p}$ estimates for the fractional $Φ$-Laplacian operator defined in bounded domains where the nonlinearity is subcritical or critical in a suitable sense. Furthermore, using some fine estimates together with the Moser's iteration, we prove that any weak solution for fractional $Φ$-Laplacian operator defined in bounded domains belongs to $L^\infty(Ω)$ under appropriate hypotheses on the $N$-function $Φ$. Using the Orlicz space and taking into account the fractional setting for our problem the main results are stated for a huge class of nonlinear operators and nonlinearities…
We obtain nontrivial solutions for two types of critical $p$-Laplacian problems with asymmetric nonlinearities in a smooth bounded domain in ${\mathbb R}^N,\, N \ge 2$. For $p < N$, we consider an asymmetric problem involving the critical Sobolev exponent $p^\ast = Np/(N - p)$. In the borderline case $p = N$, we consider an asymmetric critical exponential nonlinearity of the Trudinger-Moser type. In the absence of a suitable direct sum decomposition, we use a linking theorem based on the ${\mathbb Z}_2$-cohomological index to obtain our solutions.
