For these two decades, the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function has been studied actively. Recently Kaneko and Tsumura constructed its variants from the viewpoint of poly-Bernoulli numbers. In this paper, we generalize their zeta functions of Arakawa-Kaneko type to those with indices in which positive and negative integers are mixed. We show that values of these functions at positive integers can be expressed in terms of the multiple Hurwitz zeta star values.
Recently, the level two analogue of multiple polylogarithm function ${\rm A}(k_1,\ldots,k_r;z)$ and Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function $ψ(k_1,\ldots,k_r;s)$ were introduced by M. Kaneko and H. Tsumura, for $k_1,\ldots,k_r \in \mathbb{Z}_{\ge 1}$ . In this paper, we investigate some of their special relations. In particular, we prove some explicit forms of ${\rm A}(k_1,\ldots,k_r;z)$ and $ψ(k_1,\ldots,k_r;s)$. Also, we introduce a level $m$ anlogue of the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta functions.
In this paper, we construct certain analogues of the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta functions. We prove functional relations between these functions and the Mordell-Tornheim multiple zeta functions. Furthermore we give some formulas among Mordell-Tornheim multiple zeta values as their applications.
T. Ito defined an analog of the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function to obtain relations among Mordell-Tornheim multiple zeta values. In this paper, we develop two things related to an analog of the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function. One is to find an analog of the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function of Miyagawa-type (defined by T. Miyagawa) and to obtain a relation among Miyagawa-type MZVs. The other is to find a class of zeta functions to which Ito's zeta functions of the case of general index are related.
We construct a certain class of Arakawa--Kaneko zeta-functions associated with $GL_2(\mathbb{C})$, which includes the ordinary Arakawa--Kaneko zeta-function. We also define poly-Bernoulli polynomials associated with $GL_2(\mathbb{C})$ which appear in their special values of these zeta-functions. We prove some functional relations for these zeta-functions, which are regarded as interpolation formulas of various relations among poly-Bernoulli numbers. Considering their special values, we prove difference relations and duality relations for poly-Bernoulli polynomials associated with $GL_2(\mathbb…
We study for $s\in\N=\{1,2,...\}$ the functions $ξ_{k}(s)=\frac{1}{Γ(s)}\int_{0}^{\infty}\frac{t^{s-1}}{e^t-1}\Li_{k}(1-e^{-t})dt$, and more generally $ξ_{k_1,...,k_r}(s)=\frac{1}{Γ(s)}\int_{0}^{\infty}\frac{t^{s-1}}{e^t-1}\Li_{k_1,...,k_r}(1-e^{-t})dt$, introduced by Arakawa and Kaneko \cite{Arakawa} and relate them with (finite) multiple zeta functions, partially answering a question of \cite{Arakawa}. In particular, we give an alternative proof of a result of Ohno \cite{Ohno2}.

Let $p,x$ be real numbers, and $s$ be a complex number, with $\Re(s)>1-r$, $p\geq 1$, and $x+1>0$. The zeta function $Z^{\bfα}_p(s;x)$ is defined by $$ Z^{\bfα}_p(s;x) =\frac{1}{Γ(s)}\int^\infty_0 \frac{e^{-xt}} {e^t-1}\,Li_{\bfα}\left(\frac{1-e^{-t}}p\right) t^{s-1}\,dt, $$ where ${\bfα}=(α_1,\ldots,α_r)$ is a $r$-tuple positive integers, and $Li_{\bfα}(z)$ is the one-variable multiple polylogarithms. Since $Z^{\bfα}_1(s;0)=ξ(\bfα;s)$, we call this function as a generalized Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function. In this paper, we investigate the properties and values of $Z^{\bfα}_p(s;x)$ with differen…
Recently, Kaneko and Tsumura introduced multiple $\widetilde{T}$-values, another kind of poly-Euler numbers and the related Arakawa-Kaneko type zeta function. It is shown that each of them satisfies similar formulas to those of multiple zeta values, poly-Bernoulli numbers and the related Arakawa-Kaneko type zeta function. In this paper, we show some explicit relations for values of Kaneko-Tsumura $λ$ function at positive integers, including the duality type relation.
We first review our previous works of Arakawa and the authors on two, closely related single-variable zeta functions. Their special values at positive and negative integer arguments are respectively multiple zeta values and poly-Bernoulli numbers. We then introduce, as a generalization of Sasaki's work, level 2 analogue of one of the two zeta functions and prove results analogous to those by Arakawa and the first named author.
Kaneko and Tsumura introduced a new kind of multiple zeta functions $η(k_1,\ldots,k_r;s_1,\ldots,s_r)$. This is an analytic function of complex variables $s_1,\ldots,s_r$, while $k_1,\ldots,k_r$ are non-positive integer parameters. In this paper, we first extend this function to an analytic function $η(s'_1,\ldots,s'_r;s_1,\ldots,s_r)$ of $2r$ complex variables. Then we investigate its special values at positive integers. In particular, we prove some linear relations among these $η$-values and the multiple zeta values $ζ(k_1,\ldots,k_r)$ of Euler-Zagier type.
In this paper, we define and study a variant of multiple zeta values of level 2 (which is called multiple mixed values or multiple $M$-values, MMVs for short), which forms a subspace of the space of alternating multiple zeta values. This variant includes both Hoffman's multiple $t$-values and Kaneko-Tsumura's multiple $T$-values as special cases. We set up the algebra framework for the double shuffle relations (DBSFs) of the MMVs, and exhibits nice properties such as duality, integral shuffle relation, series stuffle relation, etc., similar to ordinary multiple zeta values. Moreover, we study …
Ihara, Kaneko, and Zagier defined two regularizations of multiple zeta values and proved the regularization theorem that describes the relation between those regularizations. We show that the regularization theorem can be generalized to polynomials whose coefficients are regularizations of multiple zeta values and that specialize to symmetric multiple zeta values defined by Kaneko and Zagier.
Let $X_0^{\star}(k,n,s)$ denote the sum of all multiple zeta-star values of weight $k$, depth $n$ and height $s$. Kaneko and Ohno conjecture that for any positive integers $m,n,s$ with $m,n\geqslant s$, the difference $(-1)^mX_0^{\star}(m+n+1,n+1,s)-(-1)^nX_0^{\star}(m+n+1,m+1,s)$ can be expressed as a polynomial of zeta values with rational coefficients. We give a proof of this conjecture in this paper.
We present several formulas for some specific multiple $L$-values of conductor four. This grew out from the study of zeta functions of level four of Arakawa-Kaneko type. Closely related is a new version of multiple poly-Euler numbers and we briefly discuss this too.
The Kaneko-Zagier conjecture states that finite and symmetric multiple zeta values satisfy the same relations. In the previous work with H.~Bachmann and Y.~Takeyama, we proved that the finite and symmetric multiple zeta value are obtained as an `algebraic' and `analytic' limit at $q\rightarrow 1$ of a certain truncated multiple harmonic $q$-series, and studied its relations in order to give partial evidence of the Kaneko-Zagier conjecture. In this paper, we start with truncated multiple harmonic $q$-series of level $N$, which is a $q$-analogue of the truncated colored multiple zeta value. We i…
We use the Arakawa-Berndt theory of generalized eta-functions to prove a conjecture of Lalìn, Rodrigue and Rogers concerning the algebraic nature of special values of the secant zeta functions.
We establish a short exact sequence about depth-graded motivic double zeta values of even weight relative to $μ_2$. We find a basis for the depth-graded motivic double zeta values relative to $μ_2$ of even weight and a basis for the depth-graded motivic triple zeta values relative to $μ_2$ of odd weight. As an application of our main results, we prove Kaneko and Tasaka's conjectures about the sum odd double zeta values and the classical double zeta values. We also prove an analogue of Kaneko and Tasaka's conjecture in depth three. At last we formulate a conjecture which is related to sum odd m…
A q-analogue of the Riemann zeta function was studied in [Kaneko et al. 03] via a certain q-series of two variables. We introduce in a similar way a q-analogue of the Dirichlet L-functions and make a detailed study of them, including some issues concerning the classical limit of the q-analogue left open in [Kaneko et al. 03]. We also examine a "crystal" limit (i.e. q->0) behavior of the q-analogue. The q-trajectories of the trivial and essential zeros of the Riemann zeta function are investigated numerically when q moves in (0,1]. Moreover, conjectures for the crystal limit behavior of zeros o…
We prove that the $\mathbb{Q}$-vector space generated by the multiple zeta values is generated by the finite real multiple zeta values introduced by Kaneko and Zagier.
An explicit formula for the height-one multiple zeta values was proved by Kaneko and the second author. We give an alternative proof of this result and its generalization. We also prove its counterpart for the finite multiple zeta values.
We introduce finite and symmetric Mordell-Tornheim type of multiple zeta values and give a new approach to the Kaneko-Zagier conjecture stating that the finite and symmetric multiple zeta values satisfy the same relations.
Ihara, Kaneko, and Zagier proved the derivation relation for multiple zeta values. The first named author obtained its counterpart for finite multiple zeta values in $\mathcal{A}$. In this paper, we present its generalization in $\mathcal{A}_{n}$.
We study a general type of series and relate special cases of it to Stirling series, infinite series discussed by Choi and Hoffman, and also to special values of the Arakawa-Kaneko zeta function, complementing and generalizing earlier results. Moreover, we survey properties of certain truncated multiple zeta and zeta star values, pointing out their relation to finite sums of harmonic numbers. We also discuss the duality result of Hoffman, relating binomial sums and truncated multiple zeta star values.
Two classes of relations for multiple zeta values are handled algebraically. A restricted sum formula is proved by Eie, Liaw and Ong. The derivation relation is proved by Ihara, Kaneko and Zagier. In this paper we show the latter implies the former.
In this paper, we investigate linear relations among regularized motivic iterated integrals on $\mathbb{P}^{1}\setminus\{0,1,\infty\}$ of depth two, which we call regularized motivic double zeta values. Some mysterious connections between motivic multiple zeta values and modular forms are known, e.g. Gangl--Kaneko--Zagier relation for the totally odd double zeta values and Ihara--Takao relation for the depth graded motivic Lie algebra. In this paper, we investigate so-called non-admissible cases and give many new Gangl--Kaneko--Zagier type and Ihara--Takao type relations for regularized motivi…
We introduce the unified double zeta function of Mordell--Tornheim type and compute its values at non-positive integer points. We then discuss a possible generalization of the Kaneko--Zagier conjecture for all integer points.
Ohno's relation is a well-known relation among multiple zeta values. In this paper, we prove Ohno-type relation for finite multiple zeta values, which is conjectured by Kaneko. As a corollary, we give an alternative proof of the sum formula for finite multiple zeta values, which was first proved by Saito and Wakabayashi.
We prove a duality formula for certain sums of values of poly-Bernoulli polynomials which generalizes dualities for poly-Bernoulli numbers. We first compute two types of generating functions for these sums, from which the duality formula is apparent. Secondly we give an analytic proof of the duality from the viewpoint of our previous study of zeta-functions of Arakawa-Kaneko type. As an application, we give a formula that relates poly-Bernoulli numbers to the Genocchi numbers.
The refined Kaneko-Zagier conjecture claims that the algebras spanned by two kinds of "completed" finite multiple zeta values, called $\hat{A}$- and $\hat{S}$-MZVs, are isomorphic. Recently, Komori defined $\hat{S}$-MZVs of general integer (i.e., not necessarily positive) indices, extending the existing definition for positive indices. In view of the refined Kaneko-Zagier conjecture, Komori's work suggests that these extended values are closely connected to $\hat{A}$-MZVs of general indices, which can be defined in an obvious way. In this paper, we show that the generalization of the refined K…
We construct and study a certain zeta function which interpolates multi-poly-Bernoulli numbers at non-positive integers and whose values at positive integers are linear combinations of multiple zeta values. This function can be regarded as the one to be paired up with the $ξ$-function defined by Arakawa and the first-named author. We show that both are closely related to the multiple zeta functions. Further we define multi-indexed poly-Bernoulli numbers, and generalize the duality formulas for poly-Bernoulli numbers by introducing more general zeta functions.
We present explicit formulas for Hecke eigenforms as linear combinations of q-analogues of modified double zeta values. As an application, we obtain period polynomial relations and sum formulas for these modified double zeta values. These relations have similar shapes as the period polynomial relations of Gangl, Kaneko and Zagier and the usual sum formulas for classical double zeta values.
In this paper we consider iterated integrals of multiple polylogarithm functions and prove some explicit relations of multiple polylogarithm functions. Then we apply the relations obtained to find numerous formulas of alternating multiple zeta values in terms of unit-exponent alternating multiple zeta values. In particular, we prove several conjectures given by Borwein-Bradley-Broadhurst \cite{BBBL1997}, and give some general results. Furthermore, we discuss Kaneko-Yamamoto multiple zeta values, and establish some relations between it and multiple zeta values. Finally, we establish a linear re…
In their seminal paper "Double zeta values and modular forms" Gangl, Kaneko and Zagier defined a double Eisenstein series and used it to study the relations between double zeta values. One of their key ideas is to study the formal double space and apply the double shuffle relations. They also proved the double shuffle relations for the double Eisenstein series. More recently, Kaneko and Tasaka extended the double Eisenstein series to level 2, proved its double shuffle relations and studied the double zeta values of level 2. Motivated by the above works, we define in this paper the correspondin…
The derivation relation is a well known relation among multiple zeta values, which was first obtained by Ihara, Kaneko and Zagier. The analogous formula for finite multiple zeta values, which we call the derivation relation for finite multiple zeta values, was conjectured by the third author and proved by the second author. In this paper, we show these two kinds of derivation relations are respectively equivalent to the Ohno type relations for multiple zeta values and finite multiple zeta values. We also reprove these derivation relations in several different ways.
Recently, Masanobu Kaneko introduced a conjecture on an extension of the derivation relation for multiple zeta values. The goal of the present paper is to present a proof of this conjecture by reducing it to a class of relations for multiple zeta values studied by Kawashima. In addition, some algebraic aspects of the quasi-derivation operator $\partial_n^{(c)}$ on $\mathbb{Q}< x,y>$, which was defined by modeling a Hopf algebra developed by Connes and Moscovici, will be presented.
In this survey article, we discuss the algebraic structure of q-analogues of multiple zeta values, which are closely related to derivatives of Eisenstein series. Moreover, we introduce the formal double Eisenstein space, which generalizes the formal double zeta space of Gangl, Kaneko, and Zagier. Using the algebraic structure of q-analogues of multiple zeta values, we will present a realization of this space. As an application, we will obtain purely combinatorial proofs of identities among (quasi-)modular forms.
We define finite multiple zeta values (FMZVs) associated with some combinatorial objects, which we call 2-colored rooted trees, and prove that FMZVs associated with 2-colored rooted trees satisfying certain mild assumptions can be written explicitly as $\mathbb{Z}$-linear combinations of the usual FMZVs. Our result can be regarded as a generalization of Kamano's recent work on finite Mordell-Tornheim multiple zeta values. As an application, we will give a new proof of the shuffle relation of FMZVs, which was first proved by Kaneko and Zagier.
Colored multiple zeta values are special values of multiple polylogarithms evaluated at Nth roots of unity. In this paper, we define both the finite and the symmetrized versions of these values and show that they both satisfy the double shuffle relations. Further, we provide strong evidence for an isomorphism connecting the two spaces generated by these two kinds of values. This is a generalization of a recent work of Kaneko and Zagier on finite and symmetrized multiple zeta values and of the second author on finite and symmetrized Euler sums.
Ohno's relation states that a certain sum, which we call an Ohno type sum, of multiple zeta values remains unchanged if we replace the base index by its dual index. In view of Oyama's theorem concerning Ohno type sums of finite and symmetric multiple zeta values, Kaneko looked at Ohno type sums of finite and symmetric multiple zeta-star values and made a conjecture on the generating function for a specific index of depth three. In this paper, we confirm this conjecture and further give a formula for arbitrary indices of depth three.
The $t$-adic symmetric multiple zeta values were defined Jarossay, which have been studied as a real analogue of $\boldsymbol{p}$-adic finite multiple zeta values. In this paper, we consider the star analogues based on several regularization processes of multiple zeta-star values: harmonic regularization, shuffle regularization, and Kaneko-Yamamoto's type regularization. We also present the cyclic sum formula for $t$-adic symmetric multiple zeta(-star) values, which is the counterpart of that for $\boldsymbol{p}$-adic finite multiple zeta(-star) values obtained by Kawasaki. The proof uses our …
Multiple $T$-values, a variant of multiple zeta values of level two, were introduced and studied by Kaneko and Tsumura. This paper will introduce iterated log-tangent integrals and discuss their relations with multiple $T$-values. We will use ideas from the author's previous work on multiple zeta values and iterated log-sine integrals to do so.
The even weight period polynomial relations in the double shuffle Lie algebra $\mathfrak{ds}$ were discovered by Ihara, and completely classified by the second author by relating them to restricted even period polynomials associated to cusp forms on $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. In an article published in the same year, Gangl, Kaneko and Zagier displayed certain linear combinations of odd-component double zeta values which are equal to scalar multiples of simple zeta values in even weight, and also related them to restricted even period polynomials. In this paper, we relate the two sets of rela…
For odd $k$, we give a formula for the relations between double zeta values $ζ(r,k-r)$ with $r$ even. This formula provides a connection with the space of cusp forms on $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})$. This is the odd weight analogue of a result by Gangl, Kaneko and Zagier. We also provide an answer of a question asked by Zagier about the left kernel of some matrix. Although the restricted sum statement fails in the odd weight case, we provide an asymptotical statement that replaces it. Our statement works more generally for restricted sums with any congruence condition on the first entry of the d…
The sum formula is one of the most well-known relations among multiple zeta values. This paper proves a conjecture of Kaneko predicting that an analogous formula holds for finite multiple zeta values.
In this paper we present some new identities for multiple polylogarithms (abbr. MPLs) and multiple harmonic star sums (abbr. MHSSs) by using the methods of iterated integral computations of logarithm functions. Then, by applying these formulas obtained, we establish some explicit relations between Kaneko-Yamamoto type multiple zeta values (abbr. K-Y MZVs), multiple zeta values (abbr. MZVs) and MPLs. Further, we find some explicit relations between MZVs and multiple zeta star values (abbr. MZSVs). Furthermore, we define an Apéry-type variant of MZSVs $ζ^\star_B({\bf k})$ (called multiple zeta $…
