In this paper we give sufficient conditions to obtain continuity results of solutions for the so called {\em $ϕ-$Laplacian} $Δ_ϕ$ with respect to domain perturbations. We point out that this kind of results can be extended to a more general class of operators including, for instance, nonlocal nonstandard growth type operators.
In this paper we prove local interior and boundary Lipschitz continuity of solutions of a free boundary problem involving the $A$-Laplacian. We also show that the free boundary is represented locally by graphs of a family of lower semi-continuous functions.
In this paper we give sufficient conditions on the approximating domains in order to obtain the continuity of solutions for the fractional $p-$laplacian. These conditions are given in terms of the fractional capacity of the approximating domains.
In this paper we investigate a two dimensional free boundary problem involving the A-Laplacian. We show that the free boundary is represented locally by graphs of a family of continuous functions.
In this thesis, a unified approach to prove the boundedness of gradients of solutions to degenerate and singular elliptic and parabolic phi-Laplacian systems is presented. At first, a Cacciopoli-type energy inequality with an additional function f which can be chosen freely is proven. Then, Di Giorgi's method is applied using level sets which will lead to L-infinity-estimates on the gradient of the weak solution.
We establish the local continuity of locally bounded weak solutions (temperatures) to the doubly singular parabolic equation modeling the phase transition of a material: \[ \partial_t β(u)-Δ_p u\ni 0\quad\text{ for }\tfrac{2N}{N+1}<p<2, \] where $β$ is a maximal monotone graph with a jump at zero and $Δ_p$ is the $p$-Laplacian. Moreover, a logarithmic type modulus of continuity is quantified, which has been conjectured to be optimal.
Locally bounded, local weak solutions to a special class of quasilinear, anisotropic, $p$-Laplacian type elliptic equations, are shown to be locally Hölder continuous. Homogeneous local upper bounds are established for local weak solutions to a general class of quasilinear anisotropic equations.
Here we generalize quasilinear parabolic $p-$Laplacian type equations to obtain the prototype equation as \[ u_t - \text{div} (g(|Du|)/ |Du| \cdot Du) = 0, \] where a nonnegative, increasing, and continuous function $g$ trapped in between two power functions $|Du|^{g_0 -1}$ and $|Du|^{g_1 -1}$ with $1<g_0 \leq g_1 < \infty$. Through this generalization in the setting from Orlicz spaces, we provide a uniform proof with a single geometric setting that a bounded weak solution is locally Hölder continuous considering $1 < g_0 \leq g_1 \leq 2$ and $2 \leq g_0 \leq g_1 < \infty$ separately. By using…
We consider a one-Laplace equation perturbed by $p$-Laplacian with $1<p<\infty$. We prove that a weak solution is continuously differentiable ($C^{1}$) if it is convex. Note that similar result fails to hold for the unperturbed one-Laplace equation. The main difficulty is to show $C^{1}$-regularity of the solution at the boundary of a facet where the gradient of the solution vanishes. For this purpose we blow-up the solution and prove that its limit is a constant function by establishing a Liouville-type result, which is proved by showing a strong maximum principle. Our argument is rather elem…
We present an elementary approach for the proof of Schauder estimates for the equation $(-Δ)^s u(x)=f(x), \,0<s<1$, with $f$ having a modulus of continuity $ω_f$, based on the Poisson representation formula and dyadic ball approximation argument. We give the explicit modulus of continuity of $u$ in balls $B_r(x)\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ in terms of $ω_f$.
We study generalized fractional $p$-Laplacian equations to prove local boundedness and Hölder continuity of weak solutions to such nonlocal problems by finding a suitable fractional Sobolev-Poincaré inquality.
We show that for a uniformly elliptic divergence form operator $L$, defined in an open set $Ω$ with Ahlfors-David regular boundary, BMO-solvability implies scale invariant quantitative absolute continuity (the weak-$A_\infty$ property) of elliptic-harmonic measure with respect to surface measure on $\partial Ω$. We do not impose any connectivity hypothesis, qualitative or quantitative; in particular, we do not assume the Harnack Chain condition, even within individual connected components of $Ω$. In this generality, our results are new even for the Laplacian. Moreover, we obtain a converse, un…
We consider solutions $u\in W^{1,p}\big(Ω;\mathbb{R}^{N}\big)$ of the $p$-Laplacian PDE \begin{equation} \nabla\cdot\big(a(x)|Du|^{p-2}Du\big)=0,\notag \end{equation} for $x\inΩ\subseteq\mathbb{R}^{n}$, where $Ω$ is open and bounded. More generally, we consider solutions of the elliptic system \begin{equation} \nabla\cdot\left(a(x)g'\big(a(x)|Du|\big)\frac{Du}{|Du|}\right)=0\text{, }x\inΩ\notag \end{equation} as well as minimizers of the functional \begin{equation} \int_Ωg\big(a(x)|Du|\big)\ dx.\notag \end{equation} In each case, the coefficient map $a\ : \ Ω\rightarrow\mathbb{R}$ is only assu…
We study a parabolic equation for the fractional $p-$Laplacian of order $s$, for $p\ge 2$ and $0<s<1$. We provide space-time Hölder estimates for weak solutions, with explicit exponents. The proofs are based on iterated discrete differentiation of the equation in the spirit of J. Moser.

We provide fundamental properties of the first eigenpair for fractional $p$-Laplacian eigenvalue problems under singular weights, which is related to Hardy type inequality, and also show that the second eigenvalue is well-defined. We obtain a-priori bounds and the continuity of solutions to problems with such singular weights with some additional assumptions. Moreover, applying the above results, we show a global bifurcation emenating from the first eigenvalue, the Fredholm alternative for non-resonant problems, and obtain the existence of infinitely many solutions for some nonlinear problems …
For proper minimizers of parabolic variational integrals with linear growth with respect to $|Du|$, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition for $u$ to be continuous at a point $(x_o,t_o)$, in terms of a sufficient fast decay of the total variation of $u$ about $(x_o,t_o)$ (see (1.4) below). These minimizers arise also as {proper} solutions to the parabolic $1$-laplacian equation. Hence, the continuity condition continues to hold for such solutions (§ 3).
In this paper we consider a smooth bounded domain $Ω\subset \R^N$ and a parametric family of radially symmetric kernels $K_ε: \R^N \to \R_+$ such that, for each $ε\in (0,1)$, its $L^1-$norm is finite but it blows up as $ε\to 0$. Our aim is to establish an $ε$ independent modulus of continuity in $Ω$, for the solution $u_ε$ of the homogeneous Dirichlet problem \begin{equation*} \left \{ \begin{array}{rcll} - \I_ε[u] \&=\& f \& \mbox{in} \ Ω. \\ u \&=\& 0 \& \mbox{in} \ Ω^c, \end{array} \right . \end{equation*} where $f \in C(\barΩ)$ and the operator $\I_ε$ has the form \begin{equation*} \I_ε[u]…
A homogeneous Dirichlet problem with $(p,q)$-Laplace differential operator and reaction given by a parametric $p$-convex term plus a $q$-concave one is investigated. A bifurcation-type result, describing changes in the set of positive solutions as the parameter $λ>0$ varies, is proven. Since for every admissible $λ$ the problem has a smallest positive solution $\bar u_λ$, both monotonicity and continuity of the map $ λ\mapsto \bar u_λ$ are studied.
The asymptotic behavior of the first eigenvalues of magnetic Laplacian operators with large magnetic fields and Neumann realization in polyhedral domains is characterized by a hierarchy of model problems. We investigate properties of the model problems (continuity, semi-continuity, existence of generalized eigenfunctions). We prove estimates for the remainders of our asymptotic formula. Lower bounds are obtained with the help of a classical IMS partition based on adequate coverings of the polyhedral domain, whereas upper bounds are established by a novel construction of quasimodes, qualified a…
In the paper we consider a boundary value problem involving a differential equation with the fractional Laplacian $(-Δ)^{α/2}$ for $α\in\left( 1,2\right) $ and some superlinear and subcritical nonlinearity $G_{z}$ provided with a nonhomogeneous Dirichlet exterior boundary condition. Some sufficient conditions under which the set of weak solutions to the boundary value problem is nonempty and depends continuously in the Painleve-Kuratowski sense on distributed parameters and exterior boundary data are stated. The proofs of the existence results rely on the Mountain Pass Theorem. The application…
We extend the celebrate De Giorgi-Nash-Moser theory to a wide class of nonlinear equations driven by nonlocal, possibly degenerate, integro-differential operators, whose model is the fractional $p$-Laplacian operator on the Heisenberg-Weyl group $\mathbb{H}^n$. Amongst other results, we prove that the weak solutions to such a class of problems are bounded and Hölder continuous, by also establishing general estimates as fractional Caccioppoli-type estimates with tail and logarithmic-type estimates.
In this paper, we consider the Sub-Laplacian L which consists of sum of squares of smooth vector fields that satisfy Hormander's finite rank condition. We study the Dirichlet problem for this operator on domains that satisfy certain geometric conditions. For such domains, several key results are established. These results consist of 1) A reversed Holder inequality for the Poisson kernel 2) Harmonic measure (corresponding to L) and surface measure (as well as the H-Perimeter measure) are mutually absolutely continuous 3) A representation (hence solvability of the Dirichlet problem) for solution…
We give a self-contained and elementary proof for boundedness, existence, and uniqueness of solutions to dynamic programming principles (DPP) for biased tug-of-war games with running costs. The domain we work in is very general, and as a special case contains metric spaces. Technically, we introduce game-trees and show that a discretized flow converges uniformly, from which we obtain not only the existence, but also the uniqueness. Our arguments are entirely deterministic, and also do not rely on (semi-)continuity in any way; in particular, we do not need to mollify the DPP at the boundary for…
In this paper, we prove gradient continuity estimates for viscosity solutions to $Δ_{p}^N u- u_t= f$ in terms of the scaling critical $L(n+2,1 )$ norm of $f$, where $Δ_{p}^N$ is the game theoretic normalized $p-$Laplacian operator defined in (1.2) below. Our main result, Theorem 2.5 constitutes borderline gradient continuity estimate for $u$ in terms of the modified parabolic Riesz potential $\mathbf{P}^{f}_{n+1}$ as defined in (2.8) below. Moreover, for $f \in L^{m}$ with $m>n+2$, we also obtain Hölder continuity of the spatial gradient of the solution $u$, see Theorem 2.6 below. This improve…
We investigate the obstacle problem for a class of nonlinear equations driven by nonlocal, possibly degenerate, integro-differential operators, whose model is the fractional $p$-Laplacian operator with measurable coefficients. Amongst other results, we will prove both the existence and uniqueness of the solutions to the obstacle problem, and that these solutions inherit regularity properties, such as boundedness, continuity and Hölder continuity (up to the boundary), from the obstacle.
In this paper we study a question related to the continuity of maximal operators of convolution type acting on $W^{1,1}(\mathbb{R})$. We prove that the map $u\mapsto (u^{*})'$ is continuous from $W^{1,1}(\mathbb{R})$ to $L^{1}(\mathbb{R})$, where $u^{*}$ is the maximal function associated to the Poisson kernel, the Heat kernel or a family of kernels related to the fractional Laplacian. This is the first result of this type for a centered maximal operator.

This article studies the partial Hölder continuity of weak solutions to certain degenerate parabolic systems whose model is the differentiable parabolic $p(x,t)$-Laplacian system, \begin{equation*}\partial_t u-\operatorname{div}[μ(z)(1+|Du|^2)^{\frac{p(z)-2}{2}}Du]=0,\qquad p(z)\geq2.\end{equation*} Here, the exponential function $p(z)$ satisfies a logarithmic continuity condition. We show that if $μ(z)$ satisfies a certain VMO-type condition, then $u$ is locally Hölder continuous except for a measure zero set.
In this brief note we discuss local Hölder continuity for solutions to anisotropic elliptic equations of the type $ \sum_{i=1}^s \partial_{ii} u+ \sum_{i=s+1}^N \partial_i \bigg(A_i(x,u,\nabla u) \bigg) =0,$ for $x \in Ω\subset \subset \mathbb{R}^N$ and $1\leq s \leq N-1$, where each operator $A_i$ behaves directionally as the singular $p$-Laplacian, $1< p < 2$ and the supercritical condition $p+(N-s)(p-2)>0$ holds true. We show that the Harnack inequality can be proved without the continuity of solutions and that in turn this implies Hölder continuity of solutions.
The purpose of this paper is to prove the uniqueness theorem of solutions of eigenvalue equations on one end of Riemannian manifolds for drift Laplacians, including the standard Laplacian as a special case; we shall impose "a sort of radiation condition" at infinity on solutions. We shall also provide several Riemannian manifolds whose Laplacians satisfy the absence of embedded eigenvalues and besides the absolutely continuity, although growth orders of their metrics on ends are very complicated.
In this paper, we obtain gradient continuity estimates for viscosity solutions of $Δ_{p}^N u= f$ in terms of the scaling critical $L(n,1 )$ norm of $f$, where $Δ_{p}^N$ is the normalized $p-$Laplacian operator defined in (1.2) below. Our main result, Theorem 2.2, corresponds to the borderline gradient continuity estimate in terms of the modified Riesz potential $\tilde I^{f}_{q}$. Moreover, for $f \in L^{m}$ with $m>n$, we also obtain $C^{1,α}$ estimates, see Theorem 2.3 below. This improves one of the regularity results in [3], where a $C^{1,α}$ estimate was established depending on the $L^{m…
In this paper, we consider Dunkl theory on R^d associated to a finite reflection group. This theory generalizes classical Fourier anal- ysis. First, we give for 1 < p <= 2, sufficient conditions for weighted Lp-estimates of the Dunkl transform of a function f using respectively the modulus of continuity of f in the radial case and the convolution for f in the general case. In particular, we obtain as application, the integrability of this transform on Besov-Lipschitz spaces. Second, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions on nonnegative functions phi defined on [0; 1] to ensure the boun…
We study some Dirichlet problem for a $p$--Laplacian type operator in the setting of Orlicz--Zygmund space $L^q\log^{-α}L(Ω,\mathbb R^N)$, $q >1$ and $α>0$. More precisely, our aim is to establish which assuptions on the parameter $α>0$ lead to existence, uniqueness of the solution and continuity of the associated nonlinear operator.
Consider a second order, strongly elliptic negative semidefinite differential operator $L$ (maybe a system) on a compact Riemannian manifold $\overline{M}$ with smooth boundary, where the domain of $L$ is defined by a coercive boundary condition. Classically known results, and also recent work in \cite{DOS} and \cite{DM} establish sufficient conditions for $L^\infty-\text{BMO}_L$ continuity of $φ(\sqrt{A})$, where $φ\in S^0_1(\mathbb{R})$, and $A$ is a suitable elliptic operator. Using a variant of the Cheeger-Gromov-Taylor functional calculus due to \cite{MMV}, and short time bounds on the in…
In this work we obtain continuity results on Hölder spaces for operators belonging to a Weyl-Hörmander calculus for metrics such that the class of the associated operators contains, in particular, certain hypoelliptic laplacians. With our results we recover some historical Hölder boundedness theorems (see R. Beals \cite{Be,Be2}). The action of (periodic) Ruzhansky-Turunen classes of pseudo-differential operators on Hölder spaces also will be investigated.
We study the two membranes problem for different operators, possibly nonlocal. We prove a general result about the Hölder continuity of the solutions and we develop a viscosity solution approach to this problem. Then we obtain $C^{1,γ}$ regularity of the solutions provided that the orders of the two operators are different. In the special case when one operator coincides with the fractional Laplacian, we obtain the optimal regularity and a characterization of the free boundary.
We extend basic regularity of the free boundary of the obstacle problem to some classes of heterogeneous quasilinear elliptic operators with variable growth that includes, in particular, the $p(x)$-Laplacian. Under the assumption of Lipschitz continuity of the order of the power growth $p(x)>1$, we use the growth rate of the solution near the free boundary to obtain its porosity, which implies that the free boundary is of Lebesgue measure zero for $p(x)$-Laplacian type heterogeneous obstacle problems. Under additional assumptions on the operator heterogeneities and on data we show, in two diff…
We prove Sobolev-Poincaré and Poincaré inequalities in variable Lebesgue spaces $L^{p(\cdot)}(Ω)$, with $Ω\subset{\mathbb R}^n$ a bounded John domain, with weaker regularity assumptions on the exponent $p(\cdot)$ that have been used previously. In particular, we require $p(\cdot)$ to satisfy a new \emph{boundary $\log$-Hölder condition} that imposes some logarithmic decay on the oscillation of $p(\cdot)$ towards the boundary of the domain. Some control over the interior oscillation of $p(\cdot)$ is also needed, but it is given by a very general condition that allows $p(\cdot)$ to be discontinu…
We study qualitative positivity properties of quasilinear equations of the form \[ Q'_{A,p,V}[v] := -\mathrm{div}(|\nabla v|_A^{p-2}A(x)\nabla v) + V(x)|v|^{p-2}v =0 \qquad x\inΩ, \] where $Ω$ is a domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$, $1<p<\infty$, $A=(a_{ij})\in L^\infty_{\rm loc}(Ω;\mathbb{R}^{n\times n})$ is a symmetric and locally uniformly positive definite matrix, $V$ is a real potential in a certain local Morrey space (depending on $p$), and \[ |ξ|_{A}^{2}:=A(x)ξ\cdotξ=\sum_{i,j=1}^n a_{ij}(x)ξ_iξ_j \qquad x\inΩ,~ξ=(ξ_1,\ldots,ξ_n)\in \mathbb{R}^n. \] Our assumptions on the coefficients of the ope…
Let $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$ be an open bounded domain and $m\in \mathbb{N}$. Given $k_1,\ldots,k_m\in \mathbb{N}$, we consider a wide class of optimal partition problems involving Dirichlet eigenvalues of elliptic operators, of the following form \[ \inf\left\{F(λ_{k_1}(ω_1),\ldots, λ_{k_m}(ω_m)):\ (ω_1,\ldots, ω_m)\in \mathcal{P}_m(Ω)\right\}, \] where $λ_{k_i}(ω_i)$ denotes the $k_i$--th eigenvalue of $(-Δ,H^1_0(ω_i))$ counting multiplicities, and $\mathcal{P}_m(Ω)$ is the set of all open partitions of $Ω$, namely \[ \mathcal{P}_m(Ω)=\left\{(ω_1,\ldots,ω_m):\ ω_i\subset Ω\text{ open},\ ω_i\c…
