In this paper, we first construct the free Rota-Baxter family algebra generated by some set $X$ in terms of typed angularly $X$-decorated planar rooted trees. As an application, we obtain a new construction of the free Rota-Baxter algebra only in terms of angularly decorated planar rooted trees (not forests), which is quite different from the known construction via angularly decorated planar rooted forests by K. Ebrahimi-Fard and L. Guo. We then embed the free dendriform (resp. tridendriform) family algebra into the free Rota-Baxter family algebra of weight zero (resp. one). Finally, we prove that the free Rota-Baxter family algebra is the universal enveloping algebra of the free (tri)dendriform family algebra.
In this paper, by using Gröbner-Shirshov bases for Rota-Baxter algebras, we prove that every dendriform dialgebra over a field of characteristic 0 can be embedded into its universal enveloping Rota-Baxter algebra of weight 0.
In this paper, we introduce the Hom-algebra setting of the notions of matching Rota-Baxter algebras, matching (tri)dendriform algebras and matching (pre)Lie algebras. Moreover, we study the properties and relationships between categories of these matching Hom-algebraic structures.
The notion of matching Rota-Baxter algebras was recently introduced by Gao, Guo and Zhang [{\em J. Algebra} 552 (2020) 134-170] motivated by the study of algebraic renormalization of regularity structures. The concept of matching Rota-Baxter algebras generalizes multiple integral operators with kernels. The same authors also introduced matching dendriform algebras as the underlying structure of matching Rota-Baxter algebras. In this paper, we introduce matching relative Rota-Baxter algebras that are also related to matching dendriform algebras. We define a matching associative Yang-Baxter equa…
Dendriform algebras are certain splitting of associative algebras and arise naturally from Rota-Baxter operators, shuffle algebras and planar binary trees. In this paper, we first consider involutive dendriform algebras, their cohomology and homotopy analogs. The cohomology of an involutive dendriform algebra splits the Hochschild cohomology of an involutive associative algebra. In the next, we introduce a more general notion of oriented dendriform algebras. We develop a cohomology theory for oriented dendriform algebras that closely related to extensions and governs the simultaneous deformati…
In this paper we study the adjoint functors between the category of Rota-Baxter algebras and the categories of dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras. In analogy to the well-known theory of the adjoint functor between the category of associative algebras and Lie algebras, we first give an explicit construction of free Rota-Baxter algebras and then apply it to obtain universal enveloping Rota-Baxter algebras of dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras. We further show that free dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras, as represented by binary planar trees and planar trees, are canonical subalgebras o…
We introduce the notion of a matching Rota-Baxter algebra motivated by the recent work on multiple pre-Lie algebras arising from the study of algebraic renormalization of regularity structures~[10,18]. This notion is also related to iterated integrals with multiple kernels and solutions of the associative polarized Yang-Baxter equation. Generalizing the natural connection of Rota-Baxter algebras with dendriform algebras to matching Rota-Baxter algebras , we obtain the notion of matching dendriform algebras. As in the classical case of one operation, matching Rota-Baxter algebras and matching d…
The aim of this paper is to introduce and study Rota-Baxter Hom-algebras. Moreover we introduce a generalization of the dendriform algebras and tridendriform algebras by twisting the identities by mean of a linear map. Then we explore the connections between these categories of Hom-algebras.
Rota-Baxter algebras and the closely related dendriform algebras have important physics applications, especially to renormalization of quantum field theory. Braided structures provide effective ways of quantization such as for quantum groups. Continuing recent study relating the two structures, this paper considers Rota-Baxter algebras and dendriform algebras in the braided contexts. Applying the quantum shuffle and quantum quasi-shuffle products, we construct free objects in the categories of braided Rota-Baxter algebras and braided dendriform algebras, under the commutativity condition. We f…
We generalize three results of M. Aguiar, which are valid for Loday's dendriform algebras, to arbitrary dendriform algebras, i.e., dendriform algebras associated to algebras satisfying any given set of relations. We define these dendriform algebras using a bimodule property and show how the dendriform relations are easily determined. An important concept which we use is the notion of polarization of an algebra, which we generalize here to (arbitrary) dendriform algebras: it leads to a generalization of two of Aguiar's results, dealing with deformations and filtrations of dendriform algebras. W…
A Rota-Baxter algebra $A_R$ is an algebra $A$ equipped with a distinguished Rota-Baxter operator $R$ on it. Rota-Baxter algebras are closely related to dendriform algebras introduced by Loday. In this paper, we first consider the non-abelian extension theory of Rota-Baxter algebras and classify them by introducing the non-abelian cohomology. Next, given a non-abelian extension $0 \rightarrow B_S \rightarrow E_U \rightarrow A_R \rightarrow 0$ of Rota-Baxter algebras, we construct the Wells type exact sequences and find their role in extending a Rota-Baxter automorphism $β\in \mathrm{Aut}(B_S)$ …
We realize the free dendriform trialgebra on one generator, as well as several other examples of dendriform trialgebras, as sub-trialgebras of an algebra of noncommutative polynomials in infinitely many variables.
A dendriform algebra is an associative algebra whose product splits into two binary operations and the associativity splits into three new identities. These algebras arise naturally from some combinatorial objects and through Rota-Baxter operators. In this paper, we start by defining cohomology of dendriform algebras with coefficient in a representation. The deformation of a dendriform algebra $A$ is governed by the cohomology of $A$ with coefficient in itself. Next we study $\mathrm{Dend}_\infty$-algebras (dendriform algebras up to homotopy) in which the dendriform identities hold up to certa…
In this paper, we first prove that a Rota-Baxter family algebra indexed by a semigroup induces an ordinary Rota-Baxter algebra structure on the tensor product with the semigroup algebra. We show that the same phenomenon arises for dendriform and tridendriform family algebras. Then we construct free dendriform family algebras in terms of typed decorated planar binary trees. Finally, we generalize typed decorated rooted trees to typed valently decorated Schröder trees and use them to construct free tridendriform family algebras.
In this paper, we consider Rota-Baxter operators on involutive associative algebras. We define cohomology for Rota-Baxter operators on involutive algebras that governs the formal deformation of the operator. This cohomology can be seen as the Hochschild cohomology of a certain involutive associative algebra with coefficients in a suitable involutive bimodule. We also relate this cohomology with the cohomology of involutive dendriform algebras. Finally, we show that the standard Fard-Guo construction of the functor from the category of dendriform algebras to the category of Rota-Baxter algebras…
We study Hom-type analogs of Rota-Baxter and dendriform algebras, called Rota-Baxter $G$-Hom-associative algebras and Hom-dendriform algebras. Several construction results are proved. Free algebras for these objects are explicitly constructed. Various functors between these categories, as well as an adjunction between the categories of Rota-Baxter Hom-associative algebras and of Hom-(tri)dendriform algebras, are constructed.
An O-operator is a relative version of a Rota-Baxter operator and, in the Lie algebra context, is originated from the operator form of the classical Yang-Baxter equation. We generalize the well-known construction of dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras from Rota-Baxter algebras to a construction from O-operators. We then show that this construction from O-operators gives all dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras. Furthermore there are bijections between certain equivalence classes of invertible O-operators and certain equivalence classes of dendriform dialgebras and trialgebras.
Dendriform coalgebras are the dual notion of dendriform algebras and are splitting of associative coalgebras. In this paper, we define a cohomology theory for dendriform coalgebras based on some combinatorial maps. We show that the cohomology with self coefficients governs the formal deformation of the structure. We also relate this cohomology with the cohomology of dendriform algebras, coHochschild (Cartier) cohomology of associative coalgebras and cohomology of Rota-Baxter coalgebras which we introduce in this paper. Finally, using those combinatorial maps, we introduce homotopy analogue of …
Rota-Baxter systems were introduced by Brzeziński as a generalization of Rota-Baxter operators that are related to dendriform structures, associative Yang-Baxter pairs and covariant bialgebras. In this paper, we define Rota-Baxter systems on Hom-associative algebras and show how they induce Hom-dendriform structures and weak pseudotwistors on the underlying Hom-associative algebra. We introduce Hom-Yang-Baxter pairs and a notion of covariant Hom-bialgebra. Given a Hom-Yang-Baxter pair, we construct a twisted Rota-Baxter system and a (quasitriangular) covariant Hom-bialgebra. Finally, we consid…
The concept of Rota-Baxter family algebra is a generalization of Rota-Baxter algebra. It appears naturally in the algebraic aspects of renormalizations in quantum field theory. Rota-Baxter family algebras are closely related to dendriform family algebras. In this paper, we first construct an $L_\infty$-algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements correspond to Rota-Baxter family algebra structures. Using this characterization, we define the cohomology of a given Rota-Baxter family algebra. As an application of our cohomology, we study formal and infinitesimal deformations of a given Rota-Baxter family…
Rota-Baxter systems of T. Brzeziński are a generalization of Rota-Baxter operators that are related to dendriform structures, associative Yang-Baxter pairs and covariant bialgebras. In this paper, we consider Rota-Baxter systems in the presence of bimodule, which we call generalized Rota-Baxter systems. We define a graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements are generalized Rota-Baxter systems. This allows us to define a cohomology theory for a generalized Rota-Baxter system. Formal one-parameter deformations of generalized Rota-Baxter systems are discussed from cohomological points of vie…
Dendriform structures arise naturally in algebraic combinatorics (where they allow, for example, the splitting of the shuffle product into two pieces) and through Rota-Baxter algebra structures (the latter appear, among others, in differential systems and in the renormalization process of pQFT). We prove new combinatorial identities in dendriform dialgebras that appear to be strongly related to classical phenomena, such as the combinatorics of Lyndon words, rewriting rules in Lie algebras, or the fine structure of the Malvenuto-Reutenauer algebra. One of these identities is an abstract noncomm…
This paper introduces the braidings of dendriform algebras and tridendriform algebras. By studying free braided dendriform algebras, we obtain braidings of the Hopf algebras of Loday and Ronco of planar binary rooted trees. We also give a variation of the braiding of Foissy for the noncommutative Connes-Kreimer (a.k.a the Foissy-Holtkamp) Hopf algebra of planar rooted forests so that the well-known isomorphism between this Hopf algebra and the Loday-Ronco Hopf algebra is extended to the braided context. As free braided tridendriform algebras, we also give braided extension of the Hopf algebra …
The aim of this work is to introduce and study the notions of Hom-pre-Jordan algebra and Hom-J-dendriform algebra which generalize Hom-Jordan algebras. Hom-Pre-Jordan algebras are regarded as the underlying algebraic structures of the Hom-Jordan algebras behind the Rota-Baxter operators and $\mathcal{O}$-operators introduced in this paper. Hom-Pre-Jordan algebras are also analogues of Hom-pre-Lie algebras for Hom-Jordan algebras. The anti commutator of a Hom-pre-Jordan algebra is a Hom-Jordan algebra and the left multiplication operator gives a representation of a Hom-Jordan algebra. On the ot…
In this paper, we study Rota-Baxter operators and super $\mathcal{O}$-operator of associative superalgebras, Lie superalgebras, pre-Lie superalgebras and $L$-dendriform superalgebras. Then we give some properties of pre-Lie superalgebras constructed from associative superalgebras, Lie superalgebras and $L$-dendriform superalgebras. Moreover, we provide all Rota-Baxter operators of weight zero on complex pre-Lie superalgebras of dimensions $2$ and $3$.
A relative Rota-Baxter algebra is a generalization of a Rota-Baxter algebra. Relative Rota-Baxter algebras are closely related to dendriform algebras. In this paper, we introduce bimodules over a relative Rota-Baxter algebra that fits with the representations of dendriform algebras. We define the cohomology of a relative Rota-Baxter algebra with coefficients in a bimodule and then study abelian extensions of relative Rota-Baxter algebras in terms of the second cohomology group. Finally, we consider homotopy relative Rota-Baxter algebras and classify skeletal homotopy relative Rota-Baxter algeb…
In this paper we study (associative) Nijenhuis algebras, with emphasis on the relationship between the category of Nijenhuis algebras and the categories of NS algebras. This is in analogy to the well-known theory of the adjoint functor from the category of Lie algebras to that of associative algebras, and the more recent results on the adjoint functor from the categories of dendriform and tridendriform algebras to that of Rota-Baxter algebras. We first give an explicit construction of free Nijenhuis algebras and then apply it to obtain the universal enveloping Nijenhuis algebra of an NS algebr…
The notion of a Hom-Leibniz bialgebra is introduced and it is shown that matched pairs of Hom-Leibniz algebras, Manin triples of Hom-Leibniz algebras and Hom-Leibniz bialgebras are equivalent in a certain sense. The notion of Hom-Leibniz dendriform algebra is established, their bimodules and matched pairs are defined and their properties and theorems about their interplay and construction are obtained. Furthermore, the concept of BiHom-Leibniz dendriform algebras is introduced and discussed, their bimodules and matched pairs are constructed and properties are described. Finally, the connection…
The notion of $\mathcal{O}$-operator is a generalization of the Rota-Baxter operator in the presence of a bimodule over an associative algebra. A compatible $\mathcal{O}$-operator is a pair consisting of two $\mathcal{O}$-operators satisfying a compatibility relation. A compatible $\mathcal{O}$-operator algebra is an algebra together with a bimodule and a compatible $\mathcal{O}$-operator. In this paper, we construct a graded Lie algebra and an $L_\infty$-algebra that respectively characterize compatible $\mathcal{O}$-operators and compatible $\mathcal{O}$-operator algebras as Maurer-Cartan el…
The aim of this paper is first to introduce and study Rota-Baxter cosystems and bisystems as generalization of Rota-Baxter coalgebras and bialgebras, respectively, with various examples. The second purpose is to provide an alternative definition of covariant bialgebras via coderivations. Furthermore, we consider coquasitriangular covariant bialgebras which are generalization of coquasitriangular infinitesimal bialgebras, coassociative Yang-Baxter pairs, coassociative Yang-Baxter equation, double coalgebras and dendriform coalgebras. We study some of their properties and relationships with Rota…
Family algebraic structures indexed by a semigroup first appeared in the algebraic aspects of renormalizations in quantum field theory. The concept of the Rota-Baxter family and its relation with (tri)dendriform family algebras have been recently discovered. In this paper, we first consider a notion of $\mathcal{O}$-operator family as a generalization of the Rota-Baxter family and define two variations of associative Yang-Baxter family that produce $\mathcal{O}$-operator families. Given a Hochschild $2$-cocycle on the underlying algebra, we also define a notion of twisted $\mathcal{O}$-operato…
Rota-Baxter operators and bialgebras go hand in hand in their applications, such as in the Connes-Kreimer approach to renormalization and the operator approach to the classical Yang-Baxter equation. We establish a bialgebra structure that is compatible with the Rota-Baxter operator, called the Rota-Baxter antisymmetric infinitesimal (ASI) bialgebra. This bialgebra is characterized by generalizations of matched pairs of algebras and double constructions of Frobenius algebras to the context of Rota-Baxter algebras. The study of the coboundary case leads to an enrichment of the associative Yang-B…
We find a natural compatible condition between the Rota-Baxter operator and Turaev's (Hopf) group-(co)algebras, which leads to the concept of Rota-Baxter Turaev's (Hopf) group-(co)algebra. Two characterizations of Rota-Baxter Turaev's group-algebras (abbr. T-algebras) are obtained: one by Atkinson factorization and the other by T-quasi-idempotent elements. The relations among some related Turaev's group algebraic structures (such as (tri)dendriform T-algebras, Zinbiel T-algebras, pre-Lie T-algebras, Lie T-algebras) are discussed, and some concrete examples from the algebras of dimensions 2,3 a…
We introduce a graded Hopf algebra based on the set of parking functions (hence of dimension (n+1)^{n-1} in degree n). This algebra can be embedded into a noncommutative polynomial algebra in infinitely many variables. We determine its structure, and show that it admits natural quotients and subalgebras whose graded components have dimensions respectively given by the Schroder numbers (plane trees), the Catalan numbers, and powers of 3. These smaller algebras are always bialgebras and belong to some family of di- or tri-algebras occuring in the works of Loday and Ronco. Moreover, the fundament…
Shuffle and quasi-shuffle products are well-known in the mathematics literature. They are intimately related to Loday's dendriform algebras, and were extensively used to give explicit constructions of free commutative Rota-Baxter algebras. In the literature there exist at least two other Rota-Baxter type algebras, namely, the Nijenhuis algebra and the so-called TD-algebra. The explicit construction of the free unital commutative Nijenhuis algebra uses a modified quasi-shuffle product, called the right-shift shuffle. We show that another modification of the quasi-shuffle product, the so-called …
We study $\mathcal{O}$-operators of associative conformal algebras with respect to conformal bimodules. As natural generalizations of $\mathcal{O}$-operators and dendriform conformal algebras, we introduce the notions of twisted Rota-Baxter operators and conformal NS-algebras. We show that twisted Rota-Baxter operators give rise to conformal NS-algebras, the same as $\mathcal{O}$-operators induce dendriform conformal algebras. And we introduce a conformal analog of associative Nijenhius operators and enumerate main properties. By using derived bracket construction of Kosmann-Schwarzbach and a …
The aim of this paper is twofold. In the first part, we consider twisted Rota-Baxter operators on associative algebras that were introduced by Uchino as a noncommutative analogue of twisted Poisson structures. We construct an $L_\infty$-algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements are given by twisted Rota-Baxter operators. This leads to cohomology associated to a twisted Rota-Baxter operator. This cohomology can be seen as the Hochschild cohomology of a certain associative algebra with coefficients in a suitable bimodule. We study deformations of twisted Rota-Baxter operators by means of the above-de…
We construct an addition and a multiplication on the set of planar binary trees, closely related to addition and multiplication on the integers. This gives rise to a new kind of (noncommutative) arithmetic theory. The price to pay for this generalization is that, first the addition is not commutative, second the multiplication is distributive with the addition only on the left. This algebraic structure is the "exponent part" of the free dendriform algebra on one generator, a notion related to several other types of algebras. In the second part we extend this theory to all the planar trees. The…
In this paper, first we introduce the notion of a Leibniz bialgebra and show that matched pairs of Leibniz algebras, Manin triples of Leibniz algebras and Leibniz bialgebras are equivalent. Then we introduce the notion of a (relative) Rota-Baxter operator on a Leibniz algebra and construct the graded Lie algebra that characterizes relative Rota-Baxter operators as Maurer-Cartan elements. By these structures and the twisting theory of twilled Leibniz algebras, we further define the classical Leibniz Yang-Baxter equation, classical Leibniz r-matrices and triangular Leibniz bialgebras. Finally, w…
We consider the three-dimensional associative algebra H consisting of the 3x3 strictly upper triangular matrices whose the commutator is the Heisenberg Lie algebra. We determine the solutions of the Yang-Baxter associative equation in H. For the antisymmetric solutions, the corresponding bialgebraic structures, double constructions of Frobenius algebras and properties are given explicitly.Besides, we determine some related compatible dendriform algebras and solutions of their D-equations. Using symmetric solutions of these equations, we build the double constructions of related Connes cocycles…
A Rota-Baxter algebra, also known as a Baxter algebra, is an algebra with a linear operator satisfying a relation, called the Rota-Baxter relation, that generalizes the integration by parts formula. Most of the studies on Rota-Baxter algebras have been for commutative algebras. Two constructions of free commutative Rota-Baxter algebras were obtained by Rota and Cartier in the 1970s and a third one by Keigher and one of the authors in the 1990s in terms of mixable shuffles. Recently, noncommutative Rota-Baxter algebras have appeared both in physics in connection with the work of Connes and Krei…
