In this paper, we consider Rota-Baxter operators on involutive associative algebras. We define cohomology for Rota-Baxter operators on involutive algebras that governs the formal deformation of the operator. This cohomology can be seen as the Hochschild cohomology of a certain involutive associative algebra with coefficients in a suitable involutive bimodule. We also relate this cohomology with the cohomology of involutive dendriform algebras. Finally, we show that the standard Fard-Guo construction of the functor from the category of dendriform algebras to the category of Rota-Baxter algebras restricts to the involutive case.
We find all explicit involutive solutions $X \in \mathbb C^{n \times n}$ of the Yang-Baxter-like matrix equation $AXA=XAX$, where $A \in \mathbb C^{n \times n}$ is a given involutory matrix. The construction is algorithmic.
Several aspects of relations between braces and non-degenerate involutive set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation are discussed and many consequences are derived. In particular, for each positive integer $n$ a finite square-free multipermutation solution of the Yang-Baxter equation with multipermutation level $n$ and an abelian involutive Yang-Baxter group is constructed. This answers a problem of Gateva-Ivanova and Cameron. It is also proved that finite non-degenerate involutive set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation whose associated involutive Yang-Baxter group is ab…
In {\it Set-theoretical solutions to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation} (Duke Math. J. {\bf 100} (1999), 169--209), Etingof, Schedler and Soloviev introduced, for each non-degenerate involutive set-theoretical solution $(X,σ,τ)$ of the Yang-Baxter equation, the equivalence relation $\sim$ defined on the set $X$ and they considered a new non-degenerate involutive induced \emph{retraction} solution defined on the quotient set $X^{\sim}$. It is well known that translating set-theoretical non-degenerate solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation into the universal algebra language we obtain an algebra c…
Dendriform algebras are certain splitting of associative algebras and arise naturally from Rota-Baxter operators, shuffle algebras and planar binary trees. In this paper, we first consider involutive dendriform algebras, their cohomology and homotopy analogs. The cohomology of an involutive dendriform algebra splits the Hochschild cohomology of an involutive associative algebra. In the next, we introduce a more general notion of oriented dendriform algebras. We develop a cohomology theory for oriented dendriform algebras that closely related to extensions and governs the simultaneous deformati…
Using Bieberbach groups we study multipermutation involutive solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation. We use a linear representation of the structure group of an involutive solution to study the unique product property in such groups. An algorithm to find subgroups of a Bieberbach group isomorphic to the Promislow subgroup is introduced and then used in the case of structure group of involutive solutions. To extend the results related to retractability to non-involutive solutions, following the ideas of Meng, Ballester-Bolinches and Romero, we develop the theory of right $p$-nilpotent skew brace…
Studying solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation through skew braces, with an application to indecomposable involutive solutions with abelian permutation group
To every involutive non-degenerate set-theoretic solution $(X,r)$ of the Yang-Baxter equation on a finite set $X$ there is a naturally associated finite solvable permutation group ${\mathcal G}(X,r)$ acting on $X$. We prove that every primitive permutation group of this type is of prime order $p$. Moreover, $(X,r)$ is then a so called permutation solution determined by a cycle of length $p$. This solves a problem recently asked by A. Ballester-Bolinches. The result opens a new perspective on a possible approach to the classification problem of all involutive non-degenerate set-theoretic soluti…
A new method to construct involutive non-degenerate set-theoretic solutions $(X^n,r^{(n)})$ of the Yang-Baxter equation from an initial solution $(X,r)$ is given. Furthermore, the permutation group $\mathcal{G}(X^n,r^{(n)})$ associated to the solution $(X^n,r^{(n)})$ is isomorphic to a subgroup of $\mathcal{G}(X,r)$, and in many cases $\mathcal{G}(X^n,r^{(n)})\cong \mathcal{G}(X,r)$.
We give a construction of Rota-Baxter coalgebras from Hopf module coalgebras and also derive the structures of the pre-Lie coalgebras via Rota-Baxter coalgebras of different weight. Finally, the notion of Rota-Baxter bialgebra is introduced and some examples are provided.
In this paper, we propose the concept of an $Ω$-Rota-Baxter system, which is a generalization of a Rota-Baxter system and an $Ω$-Rota-Baxter algebra of weight zero. In the framework of operated algebras, we obtain a linear basis of a free $Ω$-Rota-Baxter system for an extended diassociative semigroup $Ω$, in terms of bracketed words and the method of Gröbner-Shirshov bases. As applications, we introduce the concepts of Rota-Baxter system family algebras and matching Rota-Baxter systems as special cases of $Ω$-Rota-Baxter systems, and construct their free objects. Meanwhile, free $Ω$-Rota-Baxte…
Rota-Baxter systems of T. Brzeziński are a generalization of Rota-Baxter operators that are related to dendriform structures, associative Yang-Baxter pairs and covariant bialgebras. In this paper, we consider Rota-Baxter systems in the presence of bimodule, which we call generalized Rota-Baxter systems. We define a graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements are generalized Rota-Baxter systems. This allows us to define a cohomology theory for a generalized Rota-Baxter system. Formal one-parameter deformations of generalized Rota-Baxter systems are discussed from cohomological points of vie…
Braces were introduced by Rump as a generalization of Jacobson radical rings. It turns out that braces allow us to use ring-theoretic and group-theoretic methods for studying involutive solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation. If braces are replaced by skew braces, then one can use similar methods for studying not necessarily involutive solutions. Here we collect problems related to (skew) braces and set-theoretic solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation.
The concept of Rota-Baxter family algebra is a generalization of Rota-Baxter algebra. It appears naturally in the algebraic aspects of renormalizations in quantum field theory. Rota-Baxter family algebras are closely related to dendriform family algebras. In this paper, we first construct an $L_\infty$-algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements correspond to Rota-Baxter family algebra structures. Using this characterization, we define the cohomology of a given Rota-Baxter family algebra. As an application of our cohomology, we study formal and infinitesimal deformations of a given Rota-Baxter family…
We introduce a generalization of parametrized Rota-Baxter algebras, which includes family and matching Rota-Baxter algebras. We study the structure needed on the set $Ω$ of parameters in order to obtain that free Rota-Baxter algebras are described in terms of typed and angularly decorated planar rooted trees: we obtain the notion of $λ$-extended diassociative semigroup, which includes sets (for matching Rota-Baxter algebras) and semigroups (for family Rota-Baxter algebras), and many other examples. We also describe free commutative $Ω$-Rota-Baxter algebras generated by a commutative algebra A …
Let $L$ be a simple anti-commutative algebra. In this paper we prove that a non skew-symmetric solution of the classical Yang-Baxter equation on $L$ with $L$-invariant symmetric part induces on $L$ a Rota-Baxter operator of a non-zero weight.
We study possible connections between Rota-Baxter operators of non-zero weight and non-skew-symmetric solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation on finite-dimensional quadratic Lie algebras. The particular attention is made to the case when for a solution $r$ the element $r+τ(r)$ is $L$-invariant.
Universal enveloping Lie Rota-Baxter algebras of pre-Lie and post-Lie algebras are constructed. It is proved that the pairs of varieties (Lie Rota-Baxter algebras of zero weight, preLie algebras) and (Lie Rota-Baxter algebras of nonzero weight,post-Lie algebras) are PBW-pairs and the variety of Lie Rota-Baxter algebras is not Schreier.
In this paper, we establish the Composition-Diamond lemma for associative nonunitary Rota-Baxter algebras with weight $λ$. As applications, we obtain a linear basis of a free commutative Rota-Baxter algebra without unity and show that every countably generated Rota-Baxter algebra with weight 0 can be embedded into a two-generated Rota-Baxter algebra.
Rota-Baxter systems were introduced by Brzeziński as a generalization of Rota-Baxter operators that are related to dendriform structures, associative Yang-Baxter pairs and covariant bialgebras. In this paper, we define Rota-Baxter systems on Hom-associative algebras and show how they induce Hom-dendriform structures and weak pseudotwistors on the underlying Hom-associative algebra. We introduce Hom-Yang-Baxter pairs and a notion of covariant Hom-bialgebra. Given a Hom-Yang-Baxter pair, we construct a twisted Rota-Baxter system and a (quasitriangular) covariant Hom-bialgebra. Finally, we consid…
In this paper, we introduce relative Rota-Baxter systems on Leibniz algebras and give some characterizations and new constructions. Then we construct a graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements are relative Rota-Baxter systems. This allows us to define a cohomology theory associated with a relative Rota-Baxter system. Finally, we study formal deformations and extendibility of finite order deformations of a relative Rota-Baxter system in terms of the cohomology theory.
We introduce the notion of Rota-Baxter coalgebra which can be viewed as the dual notion of Rota-Baxter algebra. We provide some concrete examples and establish various properties of this new object. We also consider comodules over Rota-Baxter coalgebras.
Universal enveloping Rota-Baxter algebras of preassociative and postassociative algebras are constructed. The question of Li Guo is answered: the pair of varieties (Rota-Baxter algebras of nonzero weight, postassociative algebras) is a PBW-pair and the pair (Rota-Baxter algebras of zero weight, preassociative algebras) is not.
The aim of this paper is first to introduce and study Rota-Baxter cosystems and bisystems as generalization of Rota-Baxter coalgebras and bialgebras, respectively, with various examples. The second purpose is to provide an alternative definition of covariant bialgebras via coderivations. Furthermore, we consider coquasitriangular covariant bialgebras which are generalization of coquasitriangular infinitesimal bialgebras, coassociative Yang-Baxter pairs, coassociative Yang-Baxter equation, double coalgebras and dendriform coalgebras. We study some of their properties and relationships with Rota…
We generalize the notion of a Rota-Baxter operator on groups and the notion of a Rota-Baxter operator of weight 1 on Lie algebras and define and study the notion of a Rota-Baxter operator on a cocommutative Hopf algebra $H$. If $H=F[G]$ is the group algebra of a group $G$ or $H=U(\mathfrak{g})$ the universal enveloping algebra of a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, then we prove that Rota-Baxter operators on $H$ are in one to one correspondence with corresponding Rota-Baxter operators on groups or Lie algebras.
We consider a complete filtered Rota-Baxter algebra of weight $λ$ over a commutative ring. Finding the unique solution of a non-homogeneous linear algebraic equation in this algebra, we generalize Spitzer's identity in both commutative and non-commutative cases. As an application, considering the Rota-Baxter algebra of power series in one variable with q-integral as the Rota-Baxter operator, we show certain Eulerian identities.
In this paper, by using Gröbner-Shirshov bases for Rota-Baxter algebras, we prove that every dendriform dialgebra over a field of characteristic 0 can be embedded into its universal enveloping Rota-Baxter algebra of weight 0.
We prove that all Rota-Baxter operators on a quadratic division algebra are trivial. For nonzero weight, we state that all Rota-Baxter operators on the simple odd-dimensional Jordan algebra of bilinear form are projections on a subalgebra along another one. For weight zero, we find a connection between the Rota-Baxter operators and the solutions to the alternative Yang-Baxter equation on the Cayley-Dickson algebra. We also investigate the Rota-Baxter operators on the matrix algebras of order two, the Grassmann algebra of plane, and the Kaplansky superalgebra.
In this paper, we first construct a graded Lie algebra which characterizes Rota-Baxter operators on an anti-flexible algebra as Maurer-Cartan elements. Next, we study infinitesimal deformations of bimodules over anti-flexible algebras. We also consider compatible Rota-Baxter operators on bimodules over anti-flexible algebras. Finally, We define $\mathcal{ON}$-structures which give rise to compatible Rota-Baxter operators and vice-versa.
In this paper, we introduce twisted relative Rota-Baxter operators on a Leibniz algebra as a generalization of twisted Poisson structures. We define the cohomology of a twisted relative Rota-Baxter operator $K$ as the Loday-Pirashvili cohomology of a certain Leibniz algebra induced by $K$ with coefficients in a suitable representation. Then we consider formal deformations of twisted relative Rota-Baxter operators from cohomological points of view. Finally, we introduce and study NS-Leibniz algebras as the underlying structure of twisted relative Rota-Baxter operators.
In this paper, we give a linear basis of a free Rota-Baxter system on a set by using the Gröbner-Shirshov bases method and then we obtain a left counital Hopf algebra structure on a free Rota-Baxter system.
In this paper, we introduce the cohomology theory of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Leibniz triple systems. We use the cohomological approach to study linear and formal deformations of relative Rota-Baxter operators. In particular, formal deformations and extendibility of order $n$ deformations of a relative Rota-Baxter operators are also characterized in terms of the cohomology theory. We also consider the relationship between cohomology of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Leibniz algebras and associated Leibniz triple systems.
Universal enveloping commutative Rota-Baxter algebras of pre- and postcommutative algebras are constructed. We prove that the pair of varieties (commutative Rota-Baxter algebras of nonzero weight, postcommutative algebras) is a PBW-pair and the pair (commutative Rota-Baxter algebras of zero weight, precommutative algebras) is not.
The notion of matching Rota-Baxter algebras was recently introduced by Gao, Guo and Zhang [{\em J. Algebra} 552 (2020) 134-170] motivated by the study of algebraic renormalization of regularity structures. The concept of matching Rota-Baxter algebras generalizes multiple integral operators with kernels. The same authors also introduced matching dendriform algebras as the underlying structure of matching Rota-Baxter algebras. In this paper, we introduce matching relative Rota-Baxter algebras that are also related to matching dendriform algebras. We define a matching associative Yang-Baxter equa…
Inspired by the work of Wang and Zhou [4] for Rota-Baxter algebras, we develop a cohomology theory of Rota-Baxter systems and justify it by interpreting the lower degree cohomology groups as formal deformations and as abelian extensions of Rota-Baxter systems. A further study on an $L_\infty$-algebra structure associated to this cohomology theory will be given in a subsequent paper.
In the paper we describe structures of quasitriangular Lie bialgebra on $gl_2(\mathbb C)$ using the classification of Rota-Baxter operators of nonzero weight on $gl_2(\mathbb C)$.
We establish the Gröbner-Shirshov bases theory for differential Lie $Ω$-algebras. As an application, we give a linear basis of a free differential Lie Rota-Baxter algebra on a set.
A Rota-Baxter operator defined on the polynomial algebra is called monomial if it maps each monomial to a monomial with some coefficient. We classify monomial Rota-Baxter operators defined on the algebra of polynomials in one variable without constant term. We also describe injective monomial Rota--Baxter operators of nonzero weight on the algebra of polynomials in several variables without constant term.
