We give algebraic and geometric classifications of $6$-dimensional complex nilpotent anticommutative algebras. Specifically, we find that, up to isomorphism, there are $14$ one-parameter families of $6$-dimensional nilpotent anticommutative algebras, complemented by $130$ additional isomorphism classes. The corresponding geometric variety is irreducible and determined by the Zariski closure of a one-parameter family of algebras. In particular, there are no rigid $6$-dimensional complex nilpotent anticommutative algebras.
In this paper, we give a complete classification of $n$-dimensional nilpotent non-Tortkara anticommutative algebras with $(n-4)$-dimensional annihilator over $\mathbb{C}$.
Anticommutative Engel algebras of the first five degeneration levels are classified. All algebras appearing in this classification are nilpotent Malcev algebras.

The paper is devoted to give the complete algebraic classification of nilpotent binary Lie algebras of dimension $\leq 6$ over an arbitrary base field ${\mathbb{F}}$ of characteristic not $2$ and the complete geometric classification of nilpotent binary Lie algebras of dimension $6$ over $\mathbb C.$ As an application, we have the algebraic and geometric classification of nilpotent anticommutative $\mathfrak{CD}$-algebras of dimension $\leq 6.$
We give a complete description of degenerations of $3$-dimensional nilpotent algebras, $4$-dimensional nilpotent commutative algebras and $5$-dimensional nilpotent anticommutative algebras over $ \mathbb C$. In particular, we correct several mistakes from the paper `Contractions of low-dimensional nilpotent Jordan algebras' by Ancochea Bermúdez, Fresán and Margalef Bentabol.
We give a geometric classification of complex $n$-dimensional $2$-step nilpotent (all, commutative and anticommutative) algebras. Namely, has been found the number of irreducible components and their dimensions. As a corollary, we have a geometric classification of complex $5$-dimensional nilpotent associative algebras. In particular, it has been proven that this variety has $14$ irreducible components and $9$ rigid algebras.
First, we construct some families of nonsolvable anticommutative algebras, solvable Lie algebras and even nilpotent Lie algebras, that can be endowed with the structure of a simple Hom-Lie algebra. This situation shows that a classification of simple Hom-Lie algebras would be unrealistic without any further restrictions. We introduce the class of \emph{strongly simple Hom-Lie algebras}, as the class of anticommutative algebras that are simple Hom-Lie with respect to all their twisting maps. We show some of its properties, provide a characterization and explore some of its subclasses. Furthermo…
An algebraic classification of complex $5$-dimensional nilpotent commutative $\mathfrak{CD}$-algebras is given. This classification is based on an algebraic classification of complex $5$-dimensional nilpotent Jordan algebras.
Leibniz algebras are a non-anticommutative version of Lie algebras. They play an important role in different areas of mathematics and physics and have attracted much attention over the last thirty years. In this paper we investigate whether conditions such as being a Lie algebra, cyclic, simple, semisimple, solvable, supersolvable or nilpotent in such an algebra are preserved by lattice isomorphisms.
This paper is devoted to the complete algebraic classification of complex $5$-dimensional nilpotent commutative algebras. Our method of classification is based on the standard method of classification of central extensions of smaller nilpotent commutative algebras and the recently obtained classification of complex $5$-dimensional nilpotent commutative $\mathfrak{CD}$-algebras.
In this paper we generalize the Skjelbred Sund method, used to classify nilpotent Lie algebras, in order to classify triple systems with non zero annihilator. We develop this method with the purpose of classifying nilpotent Lie triple systems, obtaining from it the algebraic classification of the nilpotent Lie triple systems up to dimension four. Additionally, we obtain the geometric classification of the variety of nilpotent Lie triple systems up to dimension four.
We give the complete algebraic classification of all complex 4-dimensional nilpotent algebras. The final list has 234 (parametric families of) isomorphism classes of algebras, 66 of which are new in the literature.
We give algebraic and geometric classifications of complex $4$-dimensional nilpotent noncommutative Jordan algebras. Specifically, we find that, up to isomorphism, there are only $18$ non-isomorphic nontrivial nilpotent noncommutative Jordan algebras. The corresponding geometric variety is determined by the Zariski closure of $3$ rigid algebras and $2$ one-parametric families of algebras.
This paper is devoted to the complete algebraic and geometric classification of complex $4$-dimensional nilpotent weakly associative, complex $4$-dimensional symmetric Leibniz algebras, and complex $5$-dimensional nilpotent symmetric Leibniz algebras. In particular, we proved that the variety of complex $4$-dimensional symmetric Leibniz algebras has no Vergne--Grunewald--O'Halloran Property (there is an irreducible component formed by only nilpotent algebras), but on the other hand, it has Vergne Property (there are no rigid nilpotent algebras).
We give algebraic and geometric classifications of $4$-dimensional complex nilpotent terminal algebras. Specifically, we find that, up to isomorphism, there are $41$ one-parameter families of $4$-dimensional nilpotent terminal (non-Leibniz) algebras, $18$ two-parameter families of $4$-dimensional nilpotent terminal (non-Leibniz) algebras, $2$ three-parameter families of $4$-dimensional nilpotent terminal (non-Leibniz) algebras, complemented by $21$ additional isomorphism classes. The corresponding geometric variety has dimension 17 and decomposes into 3 irreducible components determined by the…
We present algebraic and geometric classifications of the $4$-dimensional complex nilpotent right alternative algebras. Specifically, we find that, up to isomorphism, there are only $9$ non-isomorphic nontrivial nilpotent right alternative algebras. The corresponding geometric variety has dimension $13$ and it is determined by the Zariski closure of $4$ rigid algebras and one one-parametric family of algebras.
This paper is devoted to the complete algebraic and geometric classification of complex $4$-dimensional nilpotent left-symmetric algebras. The corresponding geometric variety has dimension $15$ and decomposes into $3$ irreducible components determined by the Zariski closures of two one-parameter families of algebras and a two-parameter family of algebras (see Theorem B). In particular, there are no rigid $4$-dimensional complex nilpotent left symmetric algebras.
We prove that an integral Jacobson radical ring is always nil, which extends a well known result from algebras over fields to rings. As a consequence we show that if every element x of a ring R is a zero of some polynomial p_x with integer coefficients, such that p_x(1)=1, then R is a nil ring. With these results we are able to give new characterizations of the upper nilradical of a ring and a new class of rings that satisfy the Köthe conjecture, namely the integral rings.
We give a computional method to construct and classify nilpotent Jordan algebras over any arbitrary fields by the second cohomolgy of nilpotent Jordan algebras of low dimension "analogue of Skjelbred-Sund method", we see that every nilpotent Jordan algebras can be constructed by the second cohomolgy of nilpotent Jordan algebras of low dimension. We use this method to classify nilpotent Jordan algebras up to dimension three over any field and nilpotent Jordan algebras of dimension four over an algebraic closed field of characteristic not 2 and over the real field R. Also commutative nilpotent a…
Small and Zelmanov posed the question whether every element of a graded algebra over an uncountable field must be nilpotent, provided that the homogeneous elements are nilpotent. This question has recently been answered in the negative by A. Smoktunowicz. In this paper we prove that the answer is affirmative for associated graded algebras of filtered algebraic algebras. Our result is based on Amitsur's theorems on algebas over infinite fields.
In this paper we study the varieties of nilpotent Lie superalgebras of dimension $\leq 5$. We provide the algebraic classification of these superalgebras and obtain the irreducible components in every variety. As a by product we construct rigid nilpotent Lie superalgebras of arbitrary dimension.

Let $\mathfrak{sp}_{2n}(\mathbb {K})$ be the symplectic Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. We prove that for any nonzero nilpotent element $X \in \mathfrak{sp}_{2n}(\mathbb {K})$ there exists a nilpotent element $Y \in \mathfrak{sp}_{2n}(\mathbb {K})$ such that $X$ and $Y$ generate $\mathfrak{sp}_{2n}(\mathbb {K})$.
In this paper, we introduce the concept of (super-)multiplier-rank for Lie superalgeras and classify all the finite-dimensional nilpotent Lie superalgebras of multiplier-rank $\leq 2$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. In the process, we also determine the multipliers of Heisenberg superalgebras.
We study almost inner derivations of $2$-step nilpotent Lie algebras of genus $2$, i.e., having a $2$-dimensional commutator ideal, using matrix pencils. In particular we determine all almost inner derivations of such algebras in terms of minimal indices and elementary divisors over an arbitrary algebraically closed field of characteristic not $2$ and over the real numbers.
The type and several invariant subspaces related to the upper annihilating series of finite-dimensional nilpotent evolution algebras are introduced. These invariants can be easily computed from any natural basis. Some families of nilpotent evolution algebras, defined in terms of a nondegenerate symmetric bilinear form and some commuting symmetric diagonalizable endomorphisms relative to the form, are explicitly constructed. Both the invariants and these families are used to review and complete the classification of nilpotent evolution algebras up to dimension five over algebraically closed fie…
The variety $JorN_{5}$ of five-dimensional nilpotent Jordan algebras structures over an algebraically closed field is investigated. We show that $JorN_{5}$ is the union of five irreducible components, four of them correspond to the Zariski closure of the $GL_5$-orbits of four rigid algebras and the other one is the Zariski closure of an union of orbits of infinite family of algebras, none of them being rigid.
In this paper we classify the laws of three-dimensional and four-dimensional nilpotent Jordan algebras over the field of complex numbers. We describe the irreducible components of their algebraic varieties and extend contractions and deformations among them. In particular, we prove that J2 and J3 are irreducible and that J4 is the union of the Zariski closures of two rigid Jordan algebras.
We study the algebraic constraints on the structure of nilpotent Lie algebra $\mathbb{g}$, which arise because of the presence of an integrable complex structure $J$. Particular attention is paid to non-abelian complex structures. Constructed various examples of positive graded Lie algebras with complex structures, in particular, we construct an infinite family $\mathfrak{D}(n)$ of such algebras that we have for their nil-index $s(\mathfrak{D}(n))$: $$ s(\mathfrak{D}(n))=[ \frac{2}{3}\dim{\mathfrak{D}(n)} ]. $$
To use evolution algebras to model population dynamics that both allow extinction and introduction of certain gametes in finite generations, nilpotency must be built into the algebraic structures of these algebras with the entire algebras not to be nilpotent if the populations are assumed to evolve for a long period of time. To adequately address this need, evolution algebras over rings with nilpotent elements must be considered instead of evolution algebras over fields. This paper develops some criteria, which are computational in nature, about the nilpotency of these algebras, and shows how …
Let $K$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero and $A$ an integral $K$-domain. The Lie algebra $Der_{K}(A)$ of all $K$-derivations of $A$ contains the set $LND(A)$ of all locally nilpotent derivations. The structure of $LND(A)$ is of great interest, and the question about properties of Lie algebras contained in $LND(A)$ is still open. An answer to it in the finite dimensional case is given. It is proved that any finite dimensional (over $K$) subalgebra of $Der_{K}(A)$ consisting of locally nilpotent derivations is nilpotent. In the case $A=K[x, y],$ it is also proved that any …
Let G be a connected reductive linear algebraic group defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p. Assume that p is good for G. In this note we classify all the spherical nilpotent G-orbits in the Lie algebra of G. The classification is the same as in the characteristic zero case obtained by D.I. Panyushev in 1994: for e a nilpotent element in the Lie algebra of G, the G-orbit G.e is spherical if and only if the height of e is at most 3.
The paper is devoted to classify nilpotent Jordan algebras of dimension up to five over an algebraically closed field of characteristic not 2. We obtained a list of 35 isolated non-isomorphic 5-dimensional nilpotent non-associative Jordan algebras and 6 families of non-isomorphic 5-dimensional nilpotent non-associative Jordan algebras depending either on one or two parameters over an algebraically closed field of characteristic not 2 or 3. In addition to these algebras we obtained two non-isomorphic 5-dimensional nilpotent non-associative Jordan algebras over an algebraically closed field of c…
We prove a refinement of Ado's theorem for Lie algebras over an algebraically-closed field of characteristic zero. We first define what it means for a Lie algebra $L$ to be approximated with a nilpotent ideal, and we then use such an approximation to construct a faithful representation of $L$. The better the approximation, the smaller the degree of the representation will be. We obtain, in particular, explicit and combinatorial upper bounds for the minimal degree of a faithful $L$-representation. The proofs use the universal enveloping algebra of Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt and the almost-algebraic…
The paper is devoted to give a complete classification of five-dimension nilpotent evolution algebras over an algebraically closed field. We obtained a list of 27 isolated non-isomorphic nilpotent evolution algebras and 2 families of non-isomorphic algebras depending on one parameter.
In the late 1980s, Premet conjectured that the nilpotent variety of any finite dimensional restricted Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p>0$ is irreducible. This conjecture remains open, but it is known to hold for a large class of simple restricted Lie algebras, e.g. for Lie algebras of connected reductive algebraic groups, and for Cartan series $W, S$ and $H$. In this paper, with the assumption that $p>3$, we confirm this conjecture for the minimal $p$-envelope $W(1;n)_p$ of the Zassenhaus algebra $W(1;n)$ for all $n\geq 2$.
In this paper we classify the isomorphism classes of four dimensional nilpotent associative algebras over a field F, studying regular subgroups of the affine group AGL_4(F). In particular we provide explicit representatives for such classes when F is a finite field, the real field R or an algebraically closed field.
The paper studies algebraic strong shift equivalence of matrices over $n$-variable polynomial rings over a principal ideal domain $D$($n\leq 2$). It is proved that in the case $n=1$, every non-zero matrix over $D[x]$ has a full rank factorization and every non-nilpotent matrix over $D[x]$ is algebraically strong shift equivalent to a nonsingular matrix. In the case $n=2$, an example of non-nilpotent matrix over $\mathbb{R}[x,y,z]=\mathbb{R}[x][y,z]$, which can not be algebraically shift equivalent to a nonsingular matrix, is given.
We obtain the functions that bound the dimensions of finite dimensional nilpotent associative or Lie algebras of class 2 over an algebraically closed field in terms of the dimensions of their commutative subalgebras. As a result, we also compute a similar function for complex nilpotent Lie groups of class 2.
The parameter coclass has been used successfully in the study of nilpotent algebraic objects of different kinds. In this paper a definition of coclass for nilpotent semigroups is introduced and semigroups of coclass 0, 1, and 2 are classified. Presentations for all such semigroups and formulae for their numbers are obtained. The classification is provided up to isomorphism as well as up to isomorphism or anti-isomorphism. Commutative and self-dual semigroups are identified within the classification.
We study algebraic properties of matrices whose rows are mutual neighbours, and are also neigbours of 0 ("neighbour" in the sense of a certain nilpotency condition). The intended application is in synthetic differential geometry. For a square matrix of this kind, the product of the diagonal entries equals the determinant, modulo a factor n!
We construct an explicit set of algebraically independent generators for the center of the universal enveloping algebra of the centralizer of a nilpotent matrix in the Lie algebra gl_N(C). In particular, this gives a new proof of the freeness of the center, a result first proved by Panyushev, Premet and Yakimova (math.RT/0610049).
