We discuss the Cauchy problem for anisotropic wave equations. Precisely, we address the question to know which kind of Cauchy data on the lateral boundary are necessary to guarantee the uniqueness of continuation of solutions of an anisotropic wave equation. In the case where the uniqueness holds, the natural problem that arise naturally in this context is to estimate the solutions, in some appropriate space, in terms of norms of the Cauchy data. We aim in this paper to convert, via a reduced Fourrier-Bros-Iagolnitzer transform, the known stability results on the Cauchy problem for elliptic equations to stability results on the Cauchy problem for waves equations. By proceeding in that way the main difficulty is to control the residual terms, induced by the reduced Fourrier-Bros-Iagolnitzer transform, by the Cauchy data. Also, the uniqueness of continuation from Cauchy data is obtained as byproduct of stability results.
In this short paper we prove a global logarithmic stability of the Cauchy problem for H 2-solutions of an anisotropic elliptic equation in a Lip-schitz domain. The result we obtained is based on tools borrowed from the existing technics to establish stability estimate for the Cauchy problem [4] (see also [1]) combined with tools we already used in [6] to study an inverse medium problem.
The uniqueness of parabolic Cauchy problems is nowadays a classical problem and since Hadamard \cite{Ha} these kind of problems are known to be ill-posed and even severely ill-posed. Until now there are only few partial results concerning the quantification of the stability for parabolic Cauchy problems. In the present article, we bring the complete answer to this issue, provided that the space domain has finite diameter with respect to the geodesic distance and assuming that solutions are sufficiently smooth.

We consider a Cauchy problem for a fractional anisotropic parabolic equation in anisotropic Hölder spaces. The equation generalizes the heat equation to the case of fractional power of the Laplace operator and the power of this operator can be different with respect to different groups of space variables. The time derivative can be either fractional Caputo - Jrbashyan derivative or usual derivative. Under some necessary conditions on the order of the time derivative we show that the operator of the whole problem is an isomorphism of appropriate anisotropic Hölder spaces. Under some another con…
We use a method developed by Strauss to obtain global wellposedness results in the mild sense for the small data Cauchy problem in modulation spaces $M_{p,q}^s(\mathbb{R}^d)$, where $q=1$ and $s\geq0$ or $q\in(1,\infty]$ and $s>\frac{d}{q'}$ for a nonlinear Schrödinger equation with higher order anisotropic dispersion and algebraic nonlinearities.
We prove a sharp three sphere inequality for solutions to third order perturbations of a product of two second order elliptic operators with real coefficients. Then we derive various kinds of quantitative estimates of unique continuation for the anisotropic plate equation. Among these, we prove a stability estimate for the Cauchy problem for such an equation and we illustrate some applications to the size estimates of an unknown inclusion made of different material that might be present in the plate. The paper is self-contained and the Carleman estimate, from which the sharp three sphere inequ…
We consider the Cauchy problem for the rotation-modified Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (RMKP) equation \begin{align*} \partial_{x}\left(u_{t}-β\partial_{x}^{3}u +\partial_{x}(u^{2})\right)+\partial_{y}^{2}u-γu=0 \end{align*} in the anisotropic Sobolev spaces $H^{s_{1},\>s_{2}}(\mathbb{R}^{2})$. When $β<0$ and $γ>0,$ we prove that the Cauchy problem is locally well-posed in $H^{s_{1},\>s_{2}}(\mathbb{R}^{2})$ with $s_{1}>-\frac{1}{2}$ and $s_{2}\geq 0$. Our result considerably improves the Theorem 1.4 of R. M. Chen, Y. Liu, P. Z. Zhang( Transactions of the American Mathematical Society, 364(2012), 339…
In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for the fifth-order KP-I equation \begin{align*} u_t + \partial_x^5u+\partial_x^{-1}\partial_y^2u + \frac{1}{2}\partial_x(u^2)=0. \end{align*} Firstly, we establish the local well-posedness of the problem in the anisotropic Sobolev spaces $H^{s_1, s_2}(\mathbb{R}^2)$ with $s_1>-\frac{9}{8}$ and $s_2\geq 0$. Secondly, we establish the global well-posedness of the problem in $H^{s_1,0}(\mathbb{R}^2)$ with $s_1>-\frac{4}{7}$. Our result improves considerably the results of Saut and Tzvetkov (J. Math.\ Pures Appl.\ 79(2000), 307--338.) and Li and Xiao …
The goal of this paper is three-fold. Firstly, we prove that the Cauchy problem for generalized KP-I equation \begin{eqnarray*} u_{t}+|D_{x}|^α\partial_{x}u+\partial_{x}^{-1}\partial_{y}^{2}u+\frac{1}{2}\partial_{x}(u^{2})=0,α\geq4 \end{eqnarray*} is locally well-posed in the anisotropic Sobolev spaces$ H^{s_{1},\>s_{2}}(\R^{2})$ with $s_{1}>-\frac{α-1}{4}$ and $s_{2}\geq 0$. Secondly, we prove that the problem is globally well-posed in $H^{s_{1},\>0}(\R^{2})$ with $s_{1}>-\frac{(α-1)(3α-4)}{4(5α+3)}$ if $4\leq α\leq5$. Finally, we prove that the problem is globally well-posed in $H^{s_{1},\>0…
In this work, we study the dissipation-modified Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation in two space-dimensional case. We establish that the Cauchy problem for this equation is locally well-posed in anisotropic Sobolev spaces. We show in some sense that our result is sharp. We also prove the global well-posedness for this equation under suitable conditions.
This article is devoted to the study of the Cauchy problem for the Muskat equation. We consider initial data belonging to the critical Sobolev space of functions with three-half derivative in $L^2$, up to a fractional logarithmic correction. As a corollary, we obtain the first local and global well-posedness results for initial free surface which are not Lipschitz.
We consider the one-dimensional logarithmic Schrödinger equation with a delta potential. Global well-posedness is verified for the Cauchy problem in H1(R) and in an appropriate Orlicz space. In the attractive case, we prove orbital stability of the ground states via variational approach.
The Cauchy-problem for the generalized Kadomtsev-Petviashvili-II equation $$u_t + u_{xxx} + \partial_x^{-1}u_{yy}= (u^l)_x, \quad l \ge 3,$$ is shown to be locally well-posed in almost critical anisotropic Sobolev spaces. The proof combines local smoothing and maximal function estimates as well as bilinear refinements of Strichartz type inequalities via multilinear interpolation in $X_{s,b}$-spaces.
In this work we shall study the well-posedness and ill-posedness of the Cauchy problem associated to the equation \begin{equation*} u_{t}+a(u^{n})_{x}+(b\mathscr{H} u_{t}+u_{yy})_{x}=0, \end{equation*} in anisotropic weigthed Sobolev spaces. In particular, we examine the unique continuation property for solutions, of this, with polynomial decay.
In the paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for a fifth order pseudoparabolic equation that appears in studying the issues of fluid filtration in fissured media, the moisture transfer in soils and etc. The Cauchy problem with non-classic conditions not requiring the agreement conditions are studied for a discontinuous coefficient pseudoparabolic equation. The equivalence of these conditions with the Cauchy classic condition is substantiated in the case when the solution of the stated problem is sought in S.L.Sobolev anisotropic space.
In this paper, by using a compactness method, we study the Cauchy problem of the logarithmic Schrödinger equation with harmonic potential. We then address the existence of ground states solutions as minimizers of the action on the Nehari manifold. Finally, we explicitly compute ground states (Gausson-type solution) and we show their orbital stability.
The aim of this paper is to investigate well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for the degenerate Zakharov system. Local well-posedness holds for anisotropic Sobolev data by applying $U^2, V^2$ type spaces. We give the Schrödinger initial data $H^{s_k, s'}$ and the wave data $H^{s_l, s'}$ where $s_k > (d-1)/2, s_l > (d-2)/2, s_k - s_l = 1/2$ and $s' > 1/2$.
In this paper we examine the well-posedness and ill-posedeness of the Cauchy problems associated to a family equations of ZK-KP-type \[ \begin{cases} u_{t}=u_{xxx}-\mathscr{H}D_{x}^αu_{yy}+uu_{x}, \cr u(0)=ψ\in Z \end{cases} \] in anisotropic Sobolev spaces, where $1\le α\le 1$, $\mathscr{H}$ is the Hilbert transform and $D_{x}^α$ is the fractional derivative, both with respect to $x$.
In this work, we study the Cauchy problem for the radially symmetric spatially homogeneous Boltzmann equation with Debye-Yukawa potential. We prove that this Cauchy problem enjoys the same smoothing effect as the Cauchy problem defined by the evolution equation associated to a fractional logarithmic harmonic oscillator. To be specific, we can prove the solution of the Cauchy problem belongs to Shubin spaces.
We are interested in a WKB analysis of the Logarithmic Non-Linear Schrödinger Equation with "Riemann-like" variables in an analytic framework in semiclassical regime. We show that the Cauchy problem is locally well posed uniformly in the semiclassical constant and that the semiclassical limit can be performed. In particular, our framework is not only compatible with the Gross-Pitaevskii equation with logarithmic nonlinearity, but also allows initial data (and solutions) which can converge to $0$ at infinity.
In this paper, we study the large time behavior of solutions to the Cauchy problem for the anisotropic conservation laws in two dimensional space. Without any smallness assumption on the initial data, the decay rates of solutions in $L^2$ space and homogeneous Sobolev space $\dot{H}^γ$ are obtained by using the method of time-frequency decomposition and the classical energy method.
In this paper we establish optimal solvability results, that is, maximal regularity theorems, for the Cauchy problem for linear parabolic differential equations of arbitrary order acting on sections of tensor bundles over boundaryless complete Riemannian manifolds with bounded geometry. We employ an anisotropic extension of the Fourier multiplier theorem for arbitrary Besov spaces introduced in earlier by the author. This allows for a unified treatment of Sobolev-Slobodeckii and little Hölder spaces. In the flat case we recover classical results for Petrowskii-parabolic Cauchy problems.
In this note we develop tools to study the Cauchy problem for the system of thermo-elasticity in higher dimensions. The theory is developed for general homogeneous anisotropic media under non-degeneracy conditions. For degenerate cases a method of treatment is sketched and for the cases of cubic media and hexagonal media detailed studies are provided.
The main goal of this paper is to present orbital stability results of periodic standing waves for the one-dimensional logarithmic Klein-Gordon equation. To do so, we first use compactness arguments and a non-standard analysis to obtain the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions for the associated Cauchy problem in the energy space. Second, we prove the orbital stability of standing waves using a stablity analysis of conservative systems.
We study inverse boundary problems for first order perturbations of the biharmonic operator on a conformally transversally anisotropic Riemannian manifold of dimension $n \ge 3$. We show that a continuous first order perturbation can be determined uniquely from the knowledge of the set of the Cauchy data on the boundary of the manifold provided that the geodesic $X$-ray transform on the transversal manifold is injective.
We consider a quasilinear parabolic Cauchy problem with spatial anisotropy of orthotropic type and study the spatial localization of solutions. Assuming the initial datum is localized with respect to a coordinate having slow diffusion rate, we bound the corresponding directional velocity of the support along the flow. The expansion rate is shown to be optimal for large times.
In this paper we consider the logarithmic Schrödinger equation on a star graph. By using a compactness method, we construct a unique global solution of the associated Cauchy problem in a suitable functional framework. Then we show the existence of several families of standing waves. We also prove the existence of ground states as minimizers of the action on the Nehari manifold. Finally, we show that the ground states are orbitally stable via a variational approach.
We prove existence of the largest and the smallest entropy solutions to the Cauchy problem for a nonlinear degenerate anisotropic parabolic equation. Applying this result, we establish the comparison principle in the case when at least one of the initial functions is periodic. In the case when initial function vanishes at infinity (in the sense of strong average) we prove the long time decay of an entropy solution under exact nonlinearity-diffusivity condition.
We consider the heat equation with a logarithmic nonlinearity, on thereal line. For a suitable sign in front of the nonlinearity, weestablish the existence and uniqueness of solutions of the Cauchyproblem, for a well-adapted class of initial data. Explicitcomputations in the case of Gaussian data lead to various scenariiwhich are richer than the mere comparison with the ODE mechanism, involving (like in the ODE case) double exponential growth or decayfor large time. Finally, we prove that such phenomena remain, in the case of compactlysupported initial data.
This paper is devoted to the inverse problem of recovering simultaneously a potential and a point source in a Shrödinger equation from the associated nonlinear Dirichlet to Neumann map. The uniqueness of the inversion is proved and logarithmic stability estimates are derived. It is well known that the inverse problem of determining only the potential while knowing the source, is ill-posed. In contrast the problem of identifying a point source when the potential is given is well posed. The obtained results show that the nonlinear Dirichlet to Neumann map contains enough information to determine…
We study global well-posedness of strong solutions for the nonhomogeneous Navier-Stokes equations with density-dependent viscosity and initial density allowing vanish in $\mathbb{R}^2$. Applying a logarithmic interpolation inequality and delicate energy estimates, we show the global existence of a unique strong solution provided that $\|\nablaμ(ρ_0)\|_{L^q}$ is suitably small, which improves the previous result of Huang and Wang [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 46, 1771--1788 (2014)] to the whole space case. Moreover, we also derive exponential decay rates of the solution. In particular, there is no need …
We investigate the behavior of the solutions of a class of certain strictly hyperbolic equations defined on $(0,T]\times \mathbb{R}^n$ in relation to a class of metrics on the phase space. In particular, we study the global regularity and decay issues of the solution to an equation with coefficients polynomially bound in $x$ with their $x$-derivatives and $t$-derivative of order ${O}(t^{-δ}),δ\in [0,1),$ and ${O}(t^{-1})$ respectively. This type of singular behavior allows coefficients to be either oscillatory or logarithmically bounded at $t=0$. We use the Planck function associated with the …
In a previous article of Dos Santos Ferreira, Kenig, Salo and Uhlmann, anisotropic inverse problems were considered in certain admissible geometries, that is, on compact Riemannian manifolds with boundary which are conformally embedded in a product of the Euclidean line and a simple manifold. In particular, it was proved that a bounded smooth potential in a Schrödinger equation was uniquely determined by the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map in dimensions n \geq 3. In this article we extend this result to the case of unbounded potentials, namely those in Ln/2. In the process, we derive Lp Carleman esti…
We give a factorization procedure for a strictly hyperbolic partial differential operator of second order with logarithmic slow scale coefficients. From this we can microlocally diagonalize the full wave operator which results in a coupled system of two first-order pseudodifferential equations in a microlocal sense. Under the assumption that the full wave equation is microlocal regular in a fixed domain of the phase space, we can approximate the problem by two one-way wave equations where a dissipative term is added to suppress singularities outside the given domain. We obtain well-posedness o…
We present a simple proof of the $C^1$ regularity of $p$-anisotropic functions in the plane for $2\leq p<\infty$. We achieve a logarithmic modulus of continuity for the derivatives. The monotonicity (in the sense of Lebesgue) of the derivatives is used. The case with two exponents is also included.
We study the stochastic homogenization for a Cauchy problem for a first-order Hamilton-Jacobi equation whose operator is not coercive w.r.t. the gradient variable. We look at Hamiltonians like $H(x,σ(x)p,ω)$ where $σ(x)$ is a matrix associated to a Carnot group. The rescaling considered is consistent with the underlying Carnot group structure, thus anisotropic. We will prove that under suitable assumptions for the Hamiltonian, the solutions of the $\varepsilon$-problem converge to a deterministic function which can be characterized as the unique (viscosity) solution of a suitable deterministic…
We introduce a new model of the logarithmic type of wave like plate equation with a nonlocal logarithmic damping mechanism. We consider the Cauchy problem for this new model in the whole space, and study the asymptotic profile and optimal decay rates of solutions as time goes to infinity in L^{2}-sense. The operator L considered in this paper was first introduced to dissipate the solutions of the wave equation in the paper studied by Charao-Ikehata in 2020. We will discuss the asymptotic property of the solution as time goes to infinity to our Cauchy problem, and in particular, we classify the…
In this paper we consider the nonlinear fractional logarithmic Schrödinger equation. By using a compactness method, we construct a unique global solution of the associated Cauchy problem in a suitable functional framework. We also prove the existence of ground states as minimizers of the action on the Nehari manifold. Finally, we prove that the set of minimizers is a stable set for the initial value problem, that is, a solution whose initial data is near the set will remain near it for all time.
We consider Cauchy's equation of motion for hyperelastic materials. The solution of this nonlinear initial-boundary value problem is the vector field which discribes the displacement which a particle of this material perceives when exposed to stress and external forces. This equation is of greatest relevance when investigating the behaviour of elastic, anisotropic composites and for the detection of defects in such materials from boundary measurements. This is why results on unique solvability and continuous dependence from the initial values are of large interest in materials research and str…
In this paper we establish the optimal regularity estimates for the Cauchy problem of stochastic kinetic equations with random coefficients in anisotropic Besov spaces. As applications, we study the nonlinear filtering problem for a degenerate diffusion process, and obtain the existence and regularity of conditional probability densities under few assumptions. Moreover, we also show the well-posedness for a class of super-linear growth stochastic kinetic equations driven by velocity-time white noises, as well as a kinetic version of Parabolic Anderson Model with measure as initial values.
