The paper is devoted to 2-local automorphisms on $AW^\ast$-algebras. Using the technique of matrix algebras over a unital Banach algebra we prove that any 2-local automorphism on an arbitrary $AW^\ast$-algebra without finite type~I direct summands is a global automorphism.

Homotopy of inner automorphism groups of Cuntz algebras

We present and study C*-algebras generated by "periodic weighted creation operators" on the Fock space associated with an automorphism $α$ on a C*-algebra $A$. These algebras can be viewed as generalized Bunce-Deddens algebras associated with the automorphism and can be written as a certain direct limit. For any abstract subfactor planar algebra $P$, there exists a finite index extremal subfactor $M_0 \subset M_1$ with $P$ as its standard invariant. In this paper, we classify the automorphism group of a bipartite graph planar algebra, and obtain subfactor planar subalgebras by taking fixed points under groups of automorphisms. This construction provides both new examples of subfactors and new descriptions of the planar algebras of previously known examples.
We prove that the automorphisms of any separable C*-algebra that does not have continuous trace are not classifiable by countable structures up to unitary equivalence. We obtain some results that relate the Connes spectrum with the innerness of automorphisms in the fixed point local multiplier algebra. The results are variants and/or extensions of corresponding results of Olesen, Pedersen and Stormer [6], [7], [9] and Ara and Mathieu [1] to the case of local multiplier algebras.

In this paper we extend a result of Semrl stating that every 2-local automorphism of the full operator algebra on a separable infinite dimensional Hilbert space is an automorphism. We investigate the structure of the outer automorphism group of the Cuntz algebra and the closely related problem of conjugacy of MASAa in O_n. In particular, we exhibit an uncountable family of MASAs, conjugate to the standard MASA D_n via Bogolubov automorphisms, that are not inner conjugate to D_n.
