We introduce a decreasing one-parameter family $\mathfrak{X}^γ(M)$, $γ>0$, of Banach subspaces of the Hardy-Goldberg space $\mathfrak{h}^1(M)$ on certain nondoubling Riemannian manifolds with bounded geometry and we investigate their properties. In particular, we prove that $\mathfrak{X}^{1/2}(M)$ agrees with the space of all functions in $\mathfrak{h}^1(M)$ whose Riesz transform is in $L^1(M)$, and we obtain the surprising result that this space does not admit an atomic decomposition.
We consider a homogeneous tree endowed with a nondoubling flow measure $μ$ of exponential growth and a probabilistic Laplacian $\mathcal{L}$ self-adjoint with respect to $μ$. We prove that the maximal characterization in terms of the heat and the Poisson semigroup of $\mathcal{L}$ and the Riesz transform characterization of the atomic Hardy space introduced in a previous work fail.
We consider an infinite homogeneous tree V endowed with the usual metric d defined on graphs and a weighted measure μ. The metric measure space V,d,μ) is nondoubling and of exponential growth, hence the classical theory of Hardy spaces does not apply in this setting. We construct an atomic Hardy space H^1 on (V,d,μ) and investigate some of its properties, focusing in particular on real interpolation properties and on boundedness of singular integrals on H^1.
Suppose that (M,d,m) is an unbounded metric measure space, which possesses two geometric properties, called "isoperimetric property" and "approximate midpoint property", and that the measure m is locally doubling. The isoperimetric property implies that the volume of balls grows at least exponentially with the radius. Hence the measure m is not globally doubling. In this paper we define an atomic Hardy space H1(m), where atoms are supported only on "small balls", and a corresponding space BMO(m) of functions of bounded mean oscillation, where the control is only on the oscillation over small b…
We consider an infinite homogeneous tree $\mathcal V$ endowed with the usual metric $d$ defined on graphs and a weighted measure $μ$. The metric measure space $(\mathcal V,d,μ)$ is nondoubling and of exponential growth, hence the classical theory of Hardy and $BMO$ spaces does not apply in this setting. We introduce a space $BMO(μ)$ on $(\mathcal V,d,μ)$ and investigate some of its properties. We prove in particular that $BMO(μ)$ can be identified with the dual of a Hardy space $H^1(μ)$ introduced in a previous work and we investigate the sharp maximal function related with $BMO(μ)$.
In this note besides two abstract versions of the Vitali Covering Lemma an abstract Hardy-Littlewood Maximal Inequality, generalizing weak type (1,1) maximal function inequality, associated to any outer measure and a family of subsets on a set is introduced. The inequality is (effectively) satisfied if and only if a special numerical constant called Hardy-Littelwood maximal constant is finite. Two general sufficient conditions for the finiteness of this constant are given and upper bounds for this constant associated to the family of (centered) balls in homogeneous spaces, family of dyadic cub…
We prove three results on wavelets for the Hardy space H^2(\R). All wavelets constructed so far for H^2(\R) are MSF wavelets. We construct a family of H^2-wavelets which are not MSF. An equivalence relation on H^2-wavelets is introduced and it is shown that the corresponding equivalence classes are non-empty. Finally, we construct a family of H^2-wavelets with Fourier transform discontinuous at the origin.
Some special Hilbert spaces are introduced to present the class of infinitesimal operators with complete minimal non-basis family of eigenvectors. The discrete Hardy inequality plays an important role in the proposed approach. The construction complement the results of G.Q.~Xu et al.~\cite{Xu} (2005) and H.~Zwart~\cite{Zwart} (2010) on the Riesz basis property of eigenvectors (eigenspaces) of infinitesimal operators. Our results are extended to the case of operators on some Banach spaces.
We present a natural family of Hilbert function spaces on the d-dimensional complex unit ball and classify which of them satisfy that subsets of the ball yield isometrically isomorphic subspaces if and only if there is an analytic automorphism of the ball taking one to the other. We also characterize pairs of weighted Hardy spaces on the unit disk which are isomorphic via a composition operator by a simple criterion on their respective sequences of weights.
This survey is based on a series of lectures given by the authors at the working seminar "Convexité et Probabilités" at UPMC Jussieu, Paris, during the spring 2013. It is devoted to maximal inequalities associated to symmetric convex sets in high dimensional linear spaces, a topic mainly developed between 1982 and 1990 but recently renewed by further advances. The series focused on proving for these maximal functions inequalities in $L^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ with bounds independent of the dimension $n$, for all $p \in (1, +\infty]$ in the best cases. This program was initiated in 1982 by Elias Stein…
We consider continuous semigroups of analytic functions $\{Φ_t\}_{t\geq0}$ in the so-called Gordon-Hedenmalm class $\mathcal{G}$, that is, the family of analytic functions $Φ:\mathbb C_+\to \mathbb C_+$ giving rise to bounded composition operators in the Hardy space of Dirichlet series $\mathcal{H}^2$. We show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between continuous semigroups $\{Φ_{t}\}_{t\geq0}$ in the class $\mathcal G$ and strongly continuous semigroups of composition operators $\{T_t\}_{t\geq0}$, where $T_t(f)=f\circΦ_t$, $f\in\mathcal{H}^2$. We extend these results for the range $p\i…
While the symbol map for the collection of bounded Toeplitz operators is well studied, there has been little work on a symbol map for densely defined Toeplitz operators. In this work a family of candidate symbols, the Sarason Sub-Symbols, is introduced as a means of reproducing the symbol of a densely defined Toeplitz operator. This leads to a partial answer to a question posed by Donald Sarason in 2008. In the bounded case the Toeplitzness of an operator can be classified in terms of its Sarason Sub-Symbols. This justifies the investigation into the application of the Sarason Sub-Symbols on d…
In this paper, we present a version of horizontal weighted Hardy-Rellich type and Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type inequalities on stratified groups and study some of their consequences. Our results reflect on many results previously known in special cases. Moreover, a new simple proof of the Badiale-Tarantello conjecture [2] on the best constant of a Hardy type inequality is provided. We also show a family of Poincaré inequalities as well as inequalities involving the weighted and unweighted $p$-sub-Laplacians.
We define a scale of weighted Morrey spaces which contains different weighted versions appearing in the literature. This allows us to obtain weighted estimates for operators in a unified way. In general, we obtain results for weights of the form $|x|^αw(x)$ with $w\in A_p$ and nonnegative $α$. We study particularly some properties of power-weighted spaces and in the case of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator our results for such spaces are sharp. By using extrapolation techniques the results are given in abstract form in such a way that they are automatically obtained for many operators.
For a wide family of multivariate Hausdorff operators, a new stronger condition for the boundedness of an operator from this family on the real Hardy space $H^1$ by means of atomic decomposition.
In this paper we introduce the family of spaces $RM(p,q)$, $1\leq p,q\leq +\infty$. They are spaces of holomorphic functions in the unit disc with average radial integrability. This family contains the classical Hardy spaces (when $p=\infty$) and Bergman spaces (when $p=q$). We characterize the inclusion between $RM(p_1,q_1)$ and $RM(p_2,q_2)$ depending on the parameters. For $1<p,q<\infty$, our main result provides a characterization of the dual spaces of $RM(p,q)$ by means of the boundedness of the Bergman projection. We show that $RM(p,q)$ is separable if and only if $q<+\infty$. In fact, w…
A version of Littlewood-Paley-Rubio de Francia inequality for the two-parameter Walsh system is proved: for any family of disjoint rectangles $I_k = I_k^1 \times I_k^2$ in ${\mathbb{Z}_+ \times \mathbb{Z}_+}$ and a family of functions $f_k$ with Walsh spectrum inside $I_k$ the following is true \[\left\lVert\sum\limits_k f_k\right\rVert_{L^p} \leq C_p \left\lVert\left(\sum\limits_k \left|f_k\right|^2\right)^{1/2}\right\rVert_{L^p}, \qquad 1 < p \leq 2,\] where $C_p$ does not depend on the choice of rectangles $\left\{I_k\right\}$ or functions $\left\{f_k\right\}$. The arguments are based on th…

Given a purely contractive matrix-valued analytic function $Θ$ on the unit disc $\bm{D}$, we study the $\mc{U} (n)$-parameter family of unitary perturbations of the operator $Z_Θ$ of multiplication by $z$ in the Hilbert space $L^2_Θ$ of $n-$component vector-valued functions on the unit circle $\bm{T}$ which are square integrable with respect to the matrix-valued measure $\Om_Θ$ determined uniquely by $Θ$ and the matrix-valued Herglotz representation theorem. In the case where $Θ$ is an extreme point of the unit ball of bounded $\bm{M}_n$-valued functions we verify that the $\mc{U} (n)$-paramet…
In this paper we consider weighted Morrey spaces ${\mathcal M}_{λ, {\mathcal F}}^p(w)$ adapted to a family of cubes ${\mathcal F}$, with norm $$\|f\|_{{\mathcal M}_{λ, {\mathcal F}}^p(w)}:=\sup_{Q\in {\mathcal F}}\left(\frac{1}{|Q|^λ}\int_Q|f|^pw\right)^{1/p},$$ and the question we deal with is whether a Muckenhoupt-type condition characterizes the boundedness of the Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator on ${\mathcal M}_{λ, {\mathcal F}}^p(w)$. In the case of the global Morrey spaces (when ${\mathcal F}$ is the family of all cubes in ${\mathbb R}^n$) this question is still open. In the case of t…
In this paper, a family of holomorphic spaces of tent type in the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^n$ is introduced, which is closely related to maximal and area integral functions in terms of the Bergman metric. It is shown that these spaces coincide with Bergman spaces. Furthermore, Littlewood-Paley type $g$-functions for the Bergman spaces are introduced in terms of the radial derivative, the complex gradient, and the invariant gradient. The corresponding characterizations for Bergman spaces are obtained as well. As an application, we obtain new maximal and area integral characterizations for Hardy…
Let $\mathscr{H}^2$ denote the Hardy space of Dirichlet series $f(s) = \sum_{n\geq1} a_n n^{-s}$ with square summable coefficients and suppose that $φ$ is a symbol generating a composition operator on $\mathscr{H}^2$ by $\mathscr{C}_φ(f) = f \circ φ$. Let $ζ$ denote the Riemann zeta function and $α_0=1.48\ldots$ the unique positive solution of the equation $αζ(1+α)=2$. We obtain sharp upper bounds for the norm of $\mathscr{C}_φ$ on $\mathscr{H}^2$ when $0<\operatorname{Re}φ(+\infty)-1/2 \leq α_0$, by relating such sharp upper bounds to the best constant in a family of discrete Hilbert-type ine…
