In the $\mathcal{N}=1$, $d=3$ superspace, we propose a massive superfield theory formulated in terms of a spinor gauge superfield, whose component content includes a two-form field, and a real scalar matter superfield. For this model, we explicitly calculate the one-loop correction to the superfield effective potential. In particular, we show that the one-loop effective potential is independent the gauge-fixing parameters.
The basic theorem of the Lagrangian formulation for general superfield theory of fields (GSTF) is proved. The gauge transformations of general type (GTGT) and gauge algebra of generators of GTGT (GGTGT) as the consequences of the above theorem are studied. It is established the gauge algebra of GGTGT contains the one of generators of gauge transformations of special type (GGTST) as one's subalgebra. In the framework of Lagrangian formulation for GSTF the nontrivial superfield model generalizing the model of Quantum Electrodynamics and belonging to the class of gauge theory of general type (GTh…
We explicitly calculate the one-loop effective potential for the supersymmetric topologically massive gauge theory in four dimensions, where the chiral scalar superfield is directly coupled to the field strength for the gauge spinor superfield.
A superfield version on superspace $(x^μ,θ^a)$ is proposed for the $Sp(2)$-- covariant Lagrangian quantization of general gauge theories. The BRST- and antiBRST- transformations are realized on superfields as supertranslations in the $θ^a$-- directions. A new (geometric) interpretation of the Ward identities in the quantum gauge theory is given.
We analyze the superfield equations of the 4-dimensional N=2 and N=4 SYM-theories using light-cone gauge conditions and the harmonic-superspace approach. The harmonic superfield equations of motion are drastically simplified in this gauge, in particular, the basic harmonic-superfield matrices and the corresponding harmonic analytic gauge connections become nilpotent on-shell.
We write down closed formulas for all necessary steps to obtain multiparticle super Yang--Mills superfields in the so-called BCJ gauge. The superfields in this gauge have obvious applications in the quest for finding BCJ-satisfying representations of amplitudes. As a benefit of having these closed formulas, we identify the explicit finite gauge transformation responsible for attaining the BCJ gauge. To do this, several combinatorial maps on words are introduced and associated identities rigorously proven.
We propose a modification of the gauge-fixing procedure in the Lagrangian method of superfield BRST quantization for general gauge theories which simultaneously provides a natural generalization of the well-known BV quantization scheme as far as gauge-fixing is concerned. A superfield form of BRST symmetry for the vacuum functional is found. The gauge-independence of the S-matrix is established.
We propose an algorithm for the construction of higher order gauge field theories from a superfield formulation within the Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism. This is a generalization of the superfield algorithm recently considered by Batalin and Marnelius. This generalization seems to allow for non-topological gauge field theories as well as alternative representations of topological ones. A five dimensional non-abelian Chern-Simons theory and a topological Yang-Mills theory are treated as examples.
We develop a superfield formulation of gauge and matter field theories on a two-dimensional sphere with rigid N=(2,2) as well as extended supersymmetry. The construction is based on a supercoset SU(2|1)/[U(1) x U(1)] containing $S^2$ as the bosonic subspace. We derive an explicit form of supervielbein and covariant derivatives on this coset, and use them to construct classical superfield actions for gauge and matter supermultiplets in this superbackground. We then apply superfield methods for computing one-loop partition functions of these theories and demonstrate how the localization techniqu…
Although the chiral dotted spinor superfield should describe a Massive Superspin One Half multiplet, it has not been obvious how to derive this from an action. In this paper this is done by including a chiral undotted spinor superfield, finding the BRST transformations that govern both of these, and then finding the action as an invariant of the transformations. It turns out that both kinds of spinor superfields are needed. Moreover, the BRST transformations for the two kinds of chiral spinor superfields are generated from each other by a special involution that exchanges Grassmann odd (even) …
We apply the functional renormalization group approach to a $\mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric gauge model with one chiral superfield coupled to a vector $U(1)$ superfield. We find that the nonrenormalization theorem still works at leading order in the supercovariant derivative expansion of the fields. We also find the beta functions and we study the behavior of its fixed points in the local potential approximation. Regulators are also discussed.
Recently, Batalin and Marnelius proposed a superfield algorithm for master actions in the BV-formulation for a class of first order gauge field theories. Possible theories are determined by a ghost number prescription and a simple local master equation. We investigate consistent solutions of these local master equations with emphasis on four and six dimensional theories.
We present a Lagrangian formulation for the free superspin-3/2 massive 4D, N=1 superfield. The model is described by a dynamical real vector superfield and an auxiliary real scalar superfield. The corresponding multiplet contains spin-1, spin-2 and two spin-3/2 propagating component fields on-shell. The auxillary superfield is needed to ensure that the on-shell vector superfield carries only the irreducible representation of the Poincare supergroup with a given mass and the fixed superspin of 3/2. The bosonic sector of the component level of the model is also presented.
We formulate a generic three-dimensional superfield higher-derivative gauge theory coupled to the matter, which, in certain cases reduces to the three-dimensional scalar super-QED, or supersymmetric Maxwell-Chern-Simons or Chern-Simons theories with matter. For this theory, we explicitly calculate the one-loop effective potential.
The rules for superfield Lagrangian quantization method for general gauge theories on a basis of their generalization to special superfield models within a so-called $θ$-superfield theory of fields ($θ$-STF) are formulated. The $θ$-superfield generating functionals of Green's functions together with effective action are constructed. Their properties including new interpretation and superfield realization of BRST transformations, Ward identities are studied.
We construct an N=1 supersymmetric Lagrangian model for the massive superspin-1 superfield. The model is described by a dynamical spinor superfield and an auxiliary chiral scalar superfield. On-shell this model leads to a spin-1/2, spin-3/2 and two spin-1 propagating component fields. The superfield action is given and its structure in the fermionic component sector is presented. We prove that the most general theory is characterized by a one parameter family of actions. The massless limit is shown to correspond to the dynamics of both the gravitino and superhelicity-1/2 multiplets.
We study a supergauge transformation of a complex superfield which generates a chiral superfield in two-dimensional ${\cal N}=(2,2)$ theory. This complex superfield is referred to as the prepotential of the chiral superfield. Since there exist redundant component fields in the prepotential, we remove some of them by a gauge-fixing condition. This situation is parallel to that of a vector superfield. In order to obtain a suitable configuration of the GLSM for the exotic five-brane which gives rise to a nongeometric background, we impose a relatively relaxed gauge-fixing condition. It turns out …
A variant for the superspin one-half massive superparticle in $ 4D $, $ \mathcal{N}=1 $, based on Dirac superfields, is offered. As opposed to the current known models that use spinor chiral superfields, the propagating fields of the supermultiplet are those of the lowest mass dimensions possible: scalar, Dirac and vector fields. Besides the supersymmetric chiral condition, the Dirac superfields are not further constrained, allowing a very straightforward implementation of the path-integral method. The corresponding superpropagators are presented. In addition, an interaction super Yukawa poten…
For the gauge massless higher spin 4D, N = 1 off-shell supermultiplets previously developed, we provide evidence of a twistor-like oscillator realization that is intrinsically related to the superfield structure of the dynamical variables and gauge transformations. Gauge invariant field strengths and linearized Bianchi identities for these multiplets are worked out. It is further argued, inspired by earlier non- supersymmetric constructions due to Klishevich and Zinoviev, that a massive superspin-$s$ multiplet can be described as a gauge-invariant dynamical system involving massless multiplets…
We give a gauge-covariant formulation of seven-dimensional super-Yang-Mills theory in terms of N=1 superfields. Furthermore, we show that five and seven dimensions are the only cases where such a formulation exists by analysing the interplay of Lorentz and R symmetries. The action is expressed in terms of field strengths and a Chern--Simons-like superpotential. Each term is manifestly N=1 supersymmetric, Lorentz invariant in four dimensions and gauge invariant under superfield gauge transformations, including those that do not preserve Wess--Zumino gauge.
We study the low-energy effective actions for gauge superfields induced by quantum N=2 and N=4 supersymmetric matter fields in three-dimensional Minkowski space. Analyzing the superconformal invariants in the N=2 superspace we propose a general form of the N=2 gauge invariant and superconformal effective action. The leading terms in this action are fixed by the symmetry up to the coefficients while the higher order terms with respect to the Maxwell field strength are found up to one arbitrary function of quasi-primary N=2 superfields constructed from the superfield strength and its covariant s…
We study the relation between a supermatrix model and the free 4D, N=1 supersymmetric field theory of a massless supermultiplet with spins (3, 5/2). In order to do this, we construct a superfield formulation of the theory. We show that solutions of the equations of motion for the supermultiplet (3, 5/2) satisfy the equations of motion of a supermatrix model.
Massive arbitrary spin supermultiplets and massless (scalar and spin one-half) supermultiplets of the N=2 Poincare superalgebra in three-dimensional flat space are considered. Both the integer spin and half-integer spin supermultiplets are studied. For such massive and massless supermultiplets, a formulation in terms of light-cone gauge unconstrained superfields defined in a momentum superspace is developed. For the supermultiplets under consideration a superspace first derivative representation for all cubic interaction vertices is obtained. A superspace representation for dynamical generator…
We exploit the geometrical superfield formalism to derive the local, covariant and continuous Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) symmetry transformations and the non-local, non-covariant and continuous dual-BRST symmetry transformations for the free Abelian one-form gauge theory in four $(3 + 1)$-dimensions (4D) of spacetime. Our discussion is carried out in the framework of BRST invariant Lagrangian density for the above 4D theory in the Feynman gauge. The geometrical origin and interpretation for the (dual-)BRST charges (and the transformations they generate) are provided in the language of tr…
We discuss some aspects of the topological features of a non-interacting two (1+1)-dimensional Abelian gauge theory in the framework of superfield formalism. This theory is described by a BRST invariant Lagrangian density in the Feynman gauge. We express the local and continuous symmetries, Lagrangian density, topological invariants and symmetric energy momentum tensor of this theory in the language of superfields by exploiting the nilpotent (anti-)BRST- and (anti-)co-BRST symmetries. In particular, the Lagrangian density and symmetric energy momentum tensor of this topological theory turn out…
A general formula for the discrete states (Neveu-Schwarz sector) in $N=1$ $2D$ super-Liouville theory is written down in the world-sheet supersymmetric form. We then derive a set of gauge states at the discrete momenta. These discrete gauge states are shown to carry the $w_\infty$ charges and serve as the symmetry parameters in the old covariant quantization of the theory.
We derive absolutely anticommuting Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) and anti-BRST symmetry transformations for the 4D free Abelian 2-form gauge theory by exploiting the superfield approach to BRST formalism. The antisymmetric tensor gauge field of the above theory was christened as the "notoph" (i.e. the opposite of "photon") gauge field by Ogievetsky and Palubarinov way back in 1966-67. We briefly outline the problems involved in obtaining the absolute anticommutativity of the (anti-) BRST transformations and their resolution within the framework of geometrical superfield approach to BRST for…
The derivation of the nilpotent (anti-)BRST symmetries for the matter fields, present in any arbitrary interacting gauge theory, has been an long-standing problem in the framework of superfield approach to BRST formalism. These nilpotent (anti-)BRST symmetries for the Dirac fields are derived in the superfield formulation for the interacting Abelian gauge theory in four $(3 + 1)$-dimensions (4D) of spacetime. The same type of symmetries are deduced for the 4D complex scalar fields having a gauge invariant interaction with the U(1) gauge field. The above interacting theories are considered on t…
We consider possible superfield representations of extended BRST symmetry for general gauge theories within the principle of gauge-fixing based on a generating equation for the gauge functional. We examine admissible superfield choices for an extended antibracket and delta-operator with given algebraic properties and show that only one of these choices is compatible with the requirement of extended BRST symmetry realized in terms of supertranslations along Grassmann coordinates. We demonstrate that this realization leads to the gauge-independence of the S-matrix.
We derive the off-shell nilpotent and absolutely anticommuting Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) and anti-BRST symmetry transformations for the dynamical non-Abelian 2-form gauge theory within the framework of geometrical superfield formalism. We obtain the (anti-) BRST invariant coupled Lagrangian densities that respect the above nilpotent symmetry transformations. We discuss, furthermore, this (anti-) BRST invariance in the language of the superfield formalism. One of the novel features of our investigation is the observation that, in addition to the horizontality condition, we have to invoke…
In the framework of superfield formalism, we demonstrate the existence of a new local, covariant, continuous and nilpotent (dual-BRST) symmetry for the BRST invariant Lagrangian density of a self-interacting two ($1 + 1$)-dimensional (2D) non-Abelian gauge theory (having no interaction with matter fields). The local and nilpotent Noether conserved charges corresponding to the above continuous symmetries find their geometrical interpretation as the translation generators along the odd (Grassmannian) directions of the four ($2 + 2)$-dimensional supermanifold.
We consider an extension of the gauge-fixing procedure in the framework of the Lagrangian superfield BRST and BRST-antiBRST quantization schemes for arbitrary gauge theories, taking into account the possible ambiguity in the choice of the superfield antibracket. We show that this ambiguity is fixed by the algebraic properties of the antibracket and the form of the BRST and antiBRST transformations, realized in terms of superspace translations. The Ward identities related to the generalized gauge-fixing procedure are obtained.
We study theories of 4D, N=1 supersymmetric massless, arbitrary integer superspins. A new state-of-the art is being established by the discovery of a new series of such theories for arbitrary superspin Y (Y=s for any integer s) The lowest member of the series is surprisingly found to be a previously established formulation of the spin (3/2, 1) supermultiplet.
We study theories of 4D, N=1 supersymmetric massless, arbitrary higher half odd-integer superspins. A new series of such theories is found to exist for arbitrary superspin Y (Y=s+1/2 for any integer s). The lowest member (s=1) of the series is the original off-shell formulation of 4D, N=1 supergravity first presented by Breitenlohner in 1977.
We present an alternative method to explore the off-shell component structure of theories that describe half-integer super-helicities Y=s+1/2 (where sis any positive integer). We use it to derive the component action, component SUSY transformation laws, and count the component-level degrees of freedom involved. This counting will give us clues about N=2 representations. The foundation of the process relies on the superfield equations of motion, generated by variation of a superspace action expressed in terms of prepotentials. Using this approach we reproduce the half-integer super-helicity sup…
We present the explicit superfield realizations of the hidden $SU(4)$ and $O(5)$ $R$-symmetries in $4D, {\cal N}=4$ and $5D, {\cal N}=2$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories in the harmonic superspace approach. The $R$-symmetry transformations are constructed and their algebraic structure is studied. It is shown that such transformations are consistent with both manifest and hidden supersymmetry transformations. These symmetries can serve as an alternative tool for constructing the relevant complete low-energy superfield effective actions determined earlier from the hidden supersymmetry consider…
The mirror map in the D=3, N=4 supersymmetry connects the left and right SU(2) automorphism groups and also the superfield representations of the corresponding N=4 supermultiplets. The mirror N=4 harmonic superspaces use the harmonics of two SU(2) groups and two types of the Grassmann analyticity. The irreducible left and right N=4 supermultiplets are defined in these harmonic superspaces. We analyze the N=4 superconformal interactions of the gauge and matter superfields and the spontaneous breakdown of the superconformal symmetry. The most interesting superconformal action possesses the mirro…
We demonstrate that the nilpotent Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) and anti-BRST symmetry invariance of the Lagrangian density of a four (3 + 1)-dimensional (4D) non-Abelian 1-form gauge theory with Dirac fields can be captured within the framework of the superfield approach to BRST formalism. The above 4D theory, where there is an explicit coupling between the non-Abelian 1-form gauge field and the Dirac fields, is considered on a (4, 2)-dimensional supermanifold, parameterized by the bosonic 4D space-time variables and a pair of Grassmannian variables. We show that the Grassmannian independe…
Some of the key cohomological features of the two $(1+1)$-dimensional (2D) free Abelian- and self-interacting non-Abelian gauge theories (having no interaction with matter fields) are briefly discussed first in the language of symmetry properties of the Lagrangian densities and the same issues are subsequently addressed in the framework of superfield formulation on the four ($2 + 2)$-dimensional supermanifold. Special emphasis is laid on the on-shell- and off-shell nilpotent (co-)BRST symmetries that emerge after the application of (dual) horizontality conditions on the supermanifold. The (ant…
We capture the off-shell as well as the on-shell nilpotent Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) and anti-BRST symmetry invariance of the Lagrangian densities of the four (3 + 1)-dimensional (4D) (non-)Abelian 1-form gauge theories within the framework of the superfield formalism. In particular, we provide the geometrical interpretations for (i) the above nilpotent symmetry invariance, and (ii) the above Lagrangian densities, in the language of the specific quantities defined in the domain of the above superfield formalism. Some of the subtle points, connected with the 4D (non-)Abelian 1-form gauge…
We discuss a D-dimensional Abelian 3-form gauge theory within the framework of Bonora-Tonin's superfield formalism and derive the off-shell nilpotent and absolutely anticommuting Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) and anti-BRST symmetry transformations for this theory. To pay our homage to Victor I. Ogievetsky (1928-1996), who was one of the inventors of Abelian 2-form (antisymmetric tensor) gauge field, we go a step further and discuss the above D-dimensional Abelian 3-form gauge theory within the framework of BRST formalism and establish that the existence of the (anti-)BRST invariant Curci-Fe…
We discuss $SU(N_c)$ gauge theory coupled to two adjoint chiral superfields $X$ and $Y$, and a number of fundamental chiral superfields $Q^i$. We add a superpotential that has the form of Arnold's $D$ series $W = \Tr X^{k+1} + \Tr XY^2$. We present a dual description in terms of an $SU(3kN_f - N_c)$ gauge theory, and we show that the duality passes many tests. At the end of the paper, we show how a deformation of this superpotential flows to another duality having a product gauge group $SU(N_c)\times SU(N_c')$, with an adjoint field charged under $SU(N_c)$, an adjoint field charged under $SU(N…
We discuss some of the key topological aspects of a two $(1+1)$-dimensional (2D) self-interacting non-Abelian gauge theory (having no interaction with matter fields) in the framework of {\it chiral} superfield formalism. We provide the geometrical interpretation for the Lagrangian density, symmetric energy momentum tensor, topological invariants, etc., by exploiting the {\it on-shell} nilpotent BRST- and co-BRST symmetries that emerge after the application of (dual) horizontality conditions. We show that the above physically interesting quantities geometrically correspond to the translation of…
Lagragian quantization rules for general gauge theories are proposed on a basis of a superfield formulation of the standard BRST symmetry. Independence of the $S$-matrix on a choice of the gauge is proved. The Ward identities in terms of superfields are derived.
In this paper we fill a necessary gap in order to realize the explicit comparison between the Kaluza Klein spectra of supergravity compactified on AdS_4 x X^7 and superconformal field theories living on the world volume of M2-branes. On the algebraic side we consider the superalgebra Osp(N|4) and we study the double interpretation of its irreducible representations either as supermultiplets of particle states in the bulk or as conformal superfields on the boundary. On the lagrangian field theory side we construct, using rheonomy rather than superfield techniques, the generic form of an N=2, d=…
We show the existence of some new local, covariant and continuous symmetries for the BRST invariant Lagrangian density of a free two ($1 + 1$)-dimensional (2D) Abelian U(1) gauge theory in the framework of superfield formalism. The Noether conserved charges corresponding to the above local continuous symmetries find their geometrical origin as the translation generators along the odd (Grassmannian)- and even (bosonic) directions of the four ($2 + 2)$-dimensional compact supermanifold. Some new discrete symmetries are shown to exist in the superfield formulation. The logical origin for the exis…
A massive Aharony-Bergman-Jafferis-Maldacena (ABJM) model in $\mathcal{N} =1$ superspace is analysed by considering a Proca type mass term into the most general Faddeev-Popov action in a covariant gauge. The presence of mass term breaks the original BRST and anti-BRST invariance of the model. Further, the symmetry of the massive ABJM model is restored by extending the BRST and anti-BRST transformations. We show that the supergauge dependence of generating functional for connected diagrams occurs in presence of mass and ghost-anti-ghost condensates in the theory.
Within a superfield approach, we formulate a simple quantum generating equation of the field - antifield formalism. Then, we derive the Schroedinger equation with the Hamiltonian whose $Δ$ - exact part serves as a generator to the quantum master-transformations. We show that these generators do satisfy a nice composition law in terms of the quantum antibrackets. We also present an $Sp(2)$ symmetric extension as to the main construction, with specific features caused with the principal fact that all basic equations become $Sp(2)$ vector valued ones.
We present an alternative method of exploring the component structure of an integer super-helicity Y=s (for any integers) irreducible representation of the Super-Poincare group. We use it to derive the component action and the SUSY transformation laws. The effectiveness of this approach is based on the equations of motion and their properties, like Bianchi identities. These equations are generated by the superspace action when it is expressed in terms of prepotentials. For that reason we reproduce the superspace action for integer superspin, using unconstrained superfields. The appropriate, to…
We provide ${\cal N}=1$ superfield description of BPS backgrounds in six-dimensional supergravity (6D SUGRA) with 3-branes, which is compactified on a two-dimensional space. The brane terms induce the localized fluxes. We find a useful gauge in which the background equations become significantly simple. This is not the Wess-Zumino gauge, and the relation to the usual component-field expression of 6D SUGRA is not straightforward. One of the equations reduces to the Liouville equation. By moving to the Wess-Zumino gauge, we check that our expressions reproduce the known results of the previous w…
We derive the off-shell nilpotent (fermionic) (anti-)BRST symmetry transformations by exploiting the (anti-)chiral superfield approach (ACSA) to Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) formalism for the interacting Abelian 1-form gauge theories where there is a coupling between the U(1) Abelian 1-form gauge field and Dirac as well as complex scalar fields. We exploit the (anti-)BRST invariant restrictions on the (anti-)chiral superfields to derive the fermionic symmetries of our present D-dimensional Abelian 1-form gauge theories. The novel observation of our present investigation is the derivation o…
We propose an N=1 superfield formulation of Lagrangian quantization in general hypergauges by extending a reducible gauge theory to a superfield model with a local dependence on a Grassmann parameter $θ$. By means of $θ$-local functions of the quantum and gauge-fixing actions in terms of Darboux coordinates on the antisymplectic manifold, we construct superfield generating functionals of Green's functions, including the effective action. We prove the gauge-independence of the S-matrix, obtain the Ward identities and establish a relation of the proposed local quantization with the BV method and…
The rules of local superfield Lagrangian quantization in reducible non-Abelian hypergauge functions are formulated for an arbitrary gauge theory. The generating functionals of standard and vertex Green's functions which depend on the Grassmann variable $η$ via super(anti)fields and sources are constructed. The difference between the local quantum and the gauge fixing actions determines an almost Hamiltonian system such that translations with respect to $η$ along the solutions of this system define the superfield BRST transformations. The Ward identities are derived and the gauge independence o…
We study the structure of holomorphic effective action for hypermultiplet models interacting with background super Yang-Mills fields. A general form of holomorphic effective action is found for hypermultiplet belonging to arbitrary representation of any semisimple compact Lie group spontaneously broken to its maximal abelian subgroup. The applications of obtained results to hypermultiplets in fundamental and adjoint representations of the SU(n), SO(n), Sp(n) groups are considered.
In the framework of superfield approach to Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) formalism, the derivation of the (anti-)BRST nilpotent symmetries for the matter fields, present in any arbitrary interacting gauge theory, has been a long-standing problem. In our present investigation, the local, covariant, continuous and off-shell nilpotent (anti-)BRST symmetry transformations for the Dirac fields $(ψ, \barψ)$ are derived in the framework of the augmented superfield formulation where the four $(3 + 1)$-dimensional (4D) interacting non-Abelian gauge theory is considered on the six $(4 + 2)$-dimension…
We focus on the superfield formulation for a N = 2 vector supermultiplet in two dimensional spacetime and explicitly show that the Wess-Zumino gauge condition for a N = 2 superfield is compatible with familiar SUSY (plus U(1) gauge) transformations for the vector supermultiplet. N = 2 SUSY invariant mass and Yukawa interaction terms for the vector supermultiplet are also constructed from the superfield explicitly in addition to a free (kinetic) action.
We consider the modified superfield constraints with constant terms for the D=3, N=2 Goldstone-Maxwell gauge multiplet which contains Goldstone fermions, real scalar and vector fields. The partial spontaneous breaking N=2 to N=1 is possible for the non-minimal self-interaction of this modified gauge superfield including the linear Fayet-Iliopoulos term. The dual description of the partial breaking in the model of the self-interacting Goldstone chiral superfield is also discussed.
We construct the D=3, N=5 harmonic superspace using the SO(5)/U(1) x U(1) harmonics. Three gauge harmonic superfields satisfy the off-shell constraints of the Grassmann and harmonic analyticities. The corresponding component supermultiplet contains the gauge field A_m and an infinite number of bosonic and fermionic fields with the SO(5) vector indices arising from decompositions of gauge superfields in harmonics and Grassmann coordinates. The nonabelian superfield Chern-Simons action is invariant with respect to the N=6 superconformal supersymmetry realized on the N=5 superfields. The componen…
We propose new off-shell models for spontaneously broken local ${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetry, in which the supergravity multiplet couples to nilpotent Goldstino superfields that contain either a gauge one-form or a gauge two-form in addition to spin-1/2 Goldstone fermions and auxiliary fields. In the case of ${\cal N}=2$ Poincaré supersymmetry, we elaborate on the concept of twisted chiral superfields and present a nilpotent ${\cal N}=2$ superfield that underlies the cubic nilpotency conditions given in arXiv:1707.03414 in terms of constrained ${\cal N}=1$ superfields.
We consider the general ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetric gauge theory with matter, regularized by higher covariant derivatives without breaking the BRST invariance, in the massless limit. In the $ξ$-gauge we obtain the (unrenormalized) expression for the two-point Green function of the quantum gauge superfield in the one-loop approximation as a sum of integrals over the loop momentum. The result is presented as a sum of three parts: the first one corresponds to the pure supersymmetric Yang--Mills theory in the Feynman gauge, the second one contains all gauge dependent terms, and the third one is th…
We derive the off-shell nilpotent Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) and anti-BRST symmetry transformations for {\it all} the fields of a free Abelian 2-form gauge theory by exploiting the geometrical superfield approach to BRST formalism. The above four (3 + 1)-dimensional (4D) theory is considered on a (4, 2)-dimensional supermanifold parameterized by the four even spacetime variables x^μ(with μ= 0, 1, 2, 3) and a pair of odd Grassmannian variables θand \barθ(with θ^2 = \barθ^2 = 0, θ\barθ+ \barθθ= 0). One of the salient features of our present investigation is that the above nilpotent (anti-)…
