英文摘要:
We identify the short time asymptotics of the sub-Riemannian heat content for a smoothly bounded domain in the first Heisenberg group. Our asymptotic formula generalizes prior work by van den Berg-Le Gall and van den Berg-Gilkey to the sub-Riemannian context, and identifies the first few coefficients in the sub-Riemannian heat content in terms of the horizontal perimeter and the total horizontal mean curvature of the boundary. The proof is probabilistic, and relies on a characterization of the heat content in terms of Brownian motion.
We study the horizontal mean curvature flow in the Heisenberg group by using the level-set method. We prove the uniqueness, existence and stability of axisymmetric viscosity solutions of the level-set equation. An explicit solution is given for the motion starting from a subelliptic sphere. We also give several properties of the level-set method and the mean curvature flow in the Heisenberg group.
This paper introduces in a natural way a notion of horizontal convex envelopes of continuous functions in the Heisenberg group. We provide a convexification process to find the envelope in a constructive manner. We also apply the convexification process to show h-convexity of viscosity solutions to a class of fully nonlinear elliptic equations in the Heisenberg group satisfying a certain symmetry condition. Our examples show that in general one cannot expect h-convexity of solutions without the symmetry condition.
In this paper we solve a problem raised by Gutiérrez and Montanari about comparison principles for $H-$convex functions on subdomains of Heisenberg groups. Our approach is based on the notion of the sub-Riemannian horizontal normal mapping and uses degree theory for set-valued maps. The statement of the comparison principle combined with a Harnack inequality is applied to prove the Aleksandrov-type maximum principle, describing the correct boundary behavior of continuous $H-$convex functions vanishing at the boundary of horizontally bounded subdomains of Heisenberg groups. This result answers …
We examine the geometry of the level sets of particular horizontally $p$-harmonic functions in the Heisenberg group. We find sharp, natural geometric conditions ensuring that the level sets of the $p$-capacitary potential of a bounded annulus in the Heisenberg group are strictly starshaped.
This paper is concerned with a PDE-based approach to the horizontally quasiconvex (h-quasiconvex for short) envelope of a given continuous function in the Heisenberg group. We provide a characterization for upper semicontinuous, h-quasiconvex functions in terms of the viscosity subsolution to a first-order nonlocal Hamilton-Jacobi equation. We also construct the corresponding envelope of a continuous function by iterating the nonlocal operator. One important step in our arguments is to prove the uniqueness and existence of viscosity solutions to the Dirichlet boundary problems for the nonlocal…
In this paper we prove that every collection of measurable functions $f_α$, $|α|=m$ coincides a.e. with $m$th order derivatives of a function $g\in C^{m-1}$ whose derivatives of order $m-1$ may have any modulus of continuity weaker than that of a Lipschitz function. This is a stronger version of earlier results of Lusin, Moonens-Pfeffer and Francos. As an application we construct surfaces in the Heisenberg group with tangent spaces being horizontal a.e.
We study the uniqueness of generalized $p$-minimal surfaces in the Heisenberg group. The generalized $p$-area of a graph defined by $u$ reads $\int |\nabla u+\vec{F}| + Hu$. If $u$ and $v$ are two minimizers for the generalized $p$-area satisfying the same Dirichlet boundary condition, then we can only get $N_{\vec{F}}(u)$ $=$ $N_{\vec{F}}(v)$ (on the nonsingular set) where $N_{\vec{F}}(w)$ $:=$ $\frac{\nabla w+\vec{F}}{|\nabla w+\vec{F}|}.$ To conclude $u$ $=$ $v$ (or $\nabla u$ $=$ $\nabla v)$, it is not straightforward as in the Riemannian case, but requires some special argument in general…
We establish Holder continuity of the horizontal gradient of weak solutions to quasi-linear p-Laplacian type non-homogeneous equations in the Heisenberg Group.
We study the regularity of minima of scalar variational integrals of $p$-growth, $1<p<\infty$, in the Heisenberg group and prove the Hölder continuity of horizontal gradient of minima.
We present a proof of the local Hölder regularity of the horizontal derivatives of weak solutions to the $p$-Laplace equation in the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^1$ for $p>4 $.
In the first Heisenberg group, we show that the intersection of two intrinsic submanifolds with linearly independent horizontal normals locally coincides with the image of an injective continuous curve. The key tool is a chain rule that relies on a recent result by Dafermos.
The aim of this paper is threefold. First, we obtain the precise bounds for the heat kernel on isotropic Heisenberg groups by using well-known results in the three dimensional case. Second, we study the asymptotic estimates at infinity for the heat kernel on nonisotropic Heisenberg groups. As a consequence, we give uniform upper and lower estimates of the heat kernel, and complete its short-time behavior obtained by Beals-Gaveau-Greiner. Third, we complete the results obtained in \cite{Li12} about the heat kernel of Grushin operators.
We establish a "low rank property" for Sobolev mappings that pointwise solve a first order nonlinear system of PDEs, whose smooth solutions have the so-called "contact property". As a consequence, Sobolev mappings from an open set of the plane, taking values in the first Heisenberg group and that have almost everywhere maximal rank must have images with positive 3-dimensional Hausdorff measure with respect to the sub-Riemannian distance of the Heisenberg group. This provides a complete solution to a question raised in a paper by Z. M. Balogh, R. Hoefer-Isenegger and J. T. Tyson. Our approach d…
In this note we obtain gradient estimates for the heat semigroup on nonisotropic Heisenberg groups. More precisely, our aim is to get the H.-Q. Li inequality on nonisotropic Heisenberg groups, which is a generalization of the original result on the classical Heisenberg group of dimension 3 and a counterpart of the inequality on the H-type groups. Our proof is based on a Cheeger type inequality, which is an approach proposed by Bakry et al.
We study the following nonlocal diffusion equation in the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}_n$, \[ u_t(z,s,t)=J\ast u(z,s,t)-u(z,s,t), \] where $\ast$ denote convolution product and $J$ satisfies appropriated hypothesis. For the Cauchy problem we obtain that the asymptotic behavior of the solutions is the same form that the one for the heat equation in the Heisenberg group. To obtain this result we use the spherical transform related to the pair $(U(n),\mathbb{H}_n)$. Finally we prove that solutions of properly rescaled nonlocal Dirichlet problem converge uniformly to the solution of the correspond…
The geometry of the quaternionic anti-de Sitter fibration is studied in details. As a consequence, we obtain formulas for the horizontal Laplacian and subelliptic heat kernel of the fibration. The heat kernel formula is explicit enough to derive small time asymptotics. Related twistor spaces and corresponding heat kernels are also discussed and the connection to the quaternionic magnetic Laplacian is done.
In this paper, we study a critical exponent to the semilinear heat equation with forcing term on Heisenberg group. Our technique of proof is based on methods of nonlinear capacity estimates specifically adapted to the nature of the Heisenberg group. Surprisingly, the critical exponent will be bounded for all dimensions of the Heisenberg group, in contrast to the Euclidean case which in the 1D and 2D cases will be infinite. In addition, we give an upper bound estimate on the lifespan of local solutions.
Let $1<p\le4$ when $n=1$ and $1<p< 3+\frac{1}{n-1} $ when $n\ge2$. We obtain the second-order horizontal Sobolev $HW^{2,2}_{\rm loc} $-regularity of $p$-harmonic functions in the Heisenberg group $\mathbb H^n$. This improves the known range of $p$ obtained by Domokos and Manfredi in 2005.

In this paper we use the heat equation in a group of Heisenberg type $\mathbb{G}$ to provide a unified treatment of the two very different extension problems for the time independent pseudo-differential operators $\mathscr L^s$ and $\mathscr L_s$, $0< s\leq 1$. Here, $\mathscr L^s$ is the fractional power of the horizontal Laplacian, and $\mathscr L_s$ is the conformal fractional power of the horizontal Laplacian on $\mathbb{G}$. One of our main objective is compute explicitly the fundamental solutions of these nonlocal operators by a new approach exclusively based on partial differential equa…
In this paper we study viscosity solutions of semilinear parabolic equations in the Heisenberg group. We show uniqueness of viscosity solutions with exponential growth at space infinity. We also study Lipschitz and horizontal convexity preserving properties under appropriate assumptions. Counterexamples show that in general such properties that are well-known for semilinear and fully nonlinear parabolic equations in the Euclidean spaces do not hold in the Heisenberg group.
In this paper we study evolutive first order Mean Field Games in the Heisenberg group; each agent can move in the whole space but it has to follow "horizontal" trajectories which are given in terms of the vector fields generating the group and the kinetic part of the cost depends only on the horizontal velocity. The Hamiltonian is not coercive in the gradient term and the coefficients of the first order term in the continuity equation may have a quadratic growth at infinity. The main results of this paper are two: the former is to establish the existence of a weak solution to the Mean Field Ga…
The purpose of this work is twofold. First we study the solutions of a Hamilton-Jacobi equation of the form $u_t(t,x)+\mathcal{H}(t,x,\nabla_H u(t,x))=0$, where $\nabla_H u$ represents the horizontal gradient of a function $u$ defined on the Heisenberg group ${I\!\!H}$. Motivated by the recent paper by Liu, Manfredi and Zhou (\cite{LiMaZh2016}), we prove a Lipschitz continuity preserving property for $u$ with respect to the Korányi homogeneous distances $d_G$ in ${I\!\!H}$. Secondly, we are keenly interested in introducing the game theory in ${I\!\!H}$, taking into account its Sub-Riemannian s…
We characterize $p-$harmonic functions in the Heisenberg group in terms of an asymptotic mean value property, where $1<p<\infty$, following the scheme described in Manfredi et al. (2009) for the Euclidean case. The new tool that allows us to consider the subelliptic case is a geometric lemma, Lemma 3.2 below, that relates the directions of the points of maxima and minima of a function on a small subelliptic ball with the unit horizontal gradient of that function.
In this paper we study evolutive first order Mean Field Games in the Heisenberg group~$\He^1$; each agent can move only along "horizontal" trajectories which are given in terms of the vector fields generating~$\He^1$ and the kinetic part of the cost depends only on the horizontal velocity. The Hamiltonian is not coercive in the gradient term and the coefficients of the first order term in the continuity equation may have a quadratic growth at infinity. The main results of this paper are two: the former is to establish the existence of a weak solution to the Mean Field Game system while the latt…
In this paper we consider the semilinear Cauchy problem for the heat equation with power nonlinearity in the Heisenberg group $\mathbf{H}_n$. The heat operator is given in this case by $\partial_t-Δ_H$, where $Δ_H$ is the so-called sub-Laplacian on $\mathbf{H}_n$. We prove that the Fujita exponent $1 + 2/Q$ is critical, where $Q = 2n + 2$ is the homogeneous dimension of $\mathbf{H}_n$. Furthermore, we prove sharp lifespan estimates for local in time solutions in the subcritical case and in the critical case. In order to get the upper bound estimate for the lifespan (especially, in the critical…
We investigate observability and Lipschitz stability for the Heisenberg heat equation on the rectangular domain $$Ω= (-1,1)\times\mathbb{T}\times\mathbb{T}$$ taking as observation regions slices of the form $ω=(a,b) \times \mathbb{T} \times \mathbb{T}$ or tubes $ω= (a,b) \times ω_y \times \mathbb{T}$, with $-1<a<b<1$. We prove that observability fails for an arbitrary time $T>0$ but both observability and Lipschitz stability hold true after a positive minimal time, which depends on the distance between $ω$ and the boundary of $Ω$: $$T_{\min} \geqslant \frac{1}{8} \min\{(1+a)^2,(1-b)^2\}.$$ Our…
This paper is devoted to the derivation of $L^2$ - $L^2$ decay estimates for the solution of the homogeneous linear damped wave equation on the Heisenberg group $\mathbf{H}_n$, for its time derivative and for its horizontal gradient. Moreover, we consider the improvement of these estimates when further $L^1(\mathbf{H}_n)$ regularity is required for the Cauchy data. Our approach will rely strongly on the group Fourier transform of $\mathbf{H}_n$ and on the properties of the Hermite functions that form a maximal orthonormal system for $L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)$ of eigenfunctions of the harmonic oscilla…
The solutions to surface evolution problems like mean curvature flow can be expressed as value functions of suitable stochastic control problems, obtained as limit of a family of regularised control problems. The control-theoretical approach is particularly suited for such problems for degenerate geometries like the Heisenberg group. In this situation a new type of singularities absent for the Euclidean mean curvature flow occurs, the so-called characteristic points. This paper investigates the asymptotic behaviour of the regularised optimal controls in the vicinity of such characteristic poin…
By adapting a technique of Molchanov, we obtain the heat kernel asymptotics at the sub-Riemannian cut locus, when the cut points are reached by an $r$-dimensional parametric family of optimal geodesics. We apply these results to the bi-Heisenberg group, that is, a nilpotent left-invariant sub-Rieman\-nian structure on $\mathbb{R}^{5}$ depending on two real parameters $α_{1}$ and $α_{2}$. We develop some results about its geodesics and heat kernel associated to its sub-Laplacian and we illuminate some interesting geometric and analytic features appearing when one compares the isotropic ($α_{1}=…
In this paper we generalize the instantaneous blowup result from [3] and [15] to the heat equation perturbed by singular potentials on the Heisenberg group.

We introduce a sub-Riemannian analogue of the Bence-Merriman-Osher diffusion driven algorithm and show that it leads to weak solutions of the horizontal mean curvature flow of graphs over sub-Riemannian Carnot groups. The proof follows the nonlinear semi-group theory approach originally introduced by L. C. Evans in the Euclidean setting and is based on new results on the relation between sub-Riemannian heat flows of characteristic functions of subgraphs and the horizontal mean curvature of the corresponding graphs.
