We prove that a pairing between the Fukaya category and the oo-category of Lagrangian cobordisms respects mapping cones. This is another step toward constructing a lift of Fukaya categories to the level of spectra (in the sense of stable homotopy theory). As corollaries, we show that the map in our previous work from cobordism groups to Floer cohomology lifts to the level of spectra, and one also recovers some results of Biran and Cornea for what we call "vertically collared" cobordisms.
Fix a suitably convex, exact symplectic manifold M. We consider the stable oo-category Lag(M) of non-compact Lagrangians whose (higher) morphisms are (higher) Lagrangian cobordisms between them. We show that this oo-category pairs with the Fukaya category Fuk(M) of compact branes. In fact, we also show that there is a subcategory of Lag(M) which pairs with the wrapped Fukaya category of M. This is a first step in a project to enrich wrapped Fukaya categories over cobordism spectra. As a corollary, we show that cobordant compact branes are equivalent in the Fukaya category. We will also mention…
Given a symplectic manifold M, we consider a category with objects finite ordered families of Lagrangian submanifolds of M (subject to certain additional constraints) and with morphisms Lagrangian cobordisms relating them. We construct a functor that maps this category to a variant of the derived Fukaya category of M in a way that takes into account the triangulated structure of the latter.
Floer theory for Lagrangian cobordisms was developed by Biran and Cornea to study the triangulated structure of the derived Fukaya category of monotone symplectic manifolds. This paper explains how to use the language of stops to study Lagrangian cobordisms in Liouville manifolds and the associated exact triangles in the derived wrapped Fukaya category. Furthermore, we compute the cobordism groups of non-compact Riemann surfaces of finite type.
We introduce a new type of duality structure for $A_\infty$-categories called a relative weak Calabi-Yau pairing which generalizes Kontsevich and Soibelman's notion of a weak (proper) Calabi-Yau structure. We prove the existence of a relative weak Calabi-Yau pairing on Biran and Cornea's Fukaya category of Lagrangian cobordisms $\mathcal{F}uk_{\mathit{cob}}(\mathbb{C}\times M)$. Here $M$ is a symplectic manifold which is closed or tame at infinity. This duality structure on $\mathcal{F}uk_{\mathit{cob}}(\mathbb{C}\times M)$ extends the relative Poincaré duality satisfied by Floer complexes for…
The derived category of coherent sheaves $\mathcal{T}_B$ associated to a birational cobordism which is either a weighted projective space, a stacky Atiyah flip, or a stacky blow-up of a point has a conjectural mirror Fukaya-Seidel category $\mathcal{T}_A$. The potential $W$ defining $\mathcal{T}_{A}$ has base $\mathbb{C}^*$ and exhibits a great deal of symmetry. This paper investigates the structure of the Fukaya-Seidel category for the mirror potentials. A proof of homological mirror symmetry $\mathcal{T}_A \cong \mathcal{T}_B$ for these birational cobordisms is then given.
We prove that the algebra of chains on the based loop space recovers the derived (wrapped) Fukaya category of the cotangent bundle of a closed smooth orientable manifold. The main new idea is the proof that a cotangent fibre generates the Fukaya category using a version of the map from symplectic cohomology to the homology of the free loop space introduced by Cieliebak and Latschev.
In this paper we study the interplay between Lagrangian cobordisms and stability conditions. We show that any stability condition on the derived Fukaya category $D\mathcal{F}uk(M)$ of a symplectic manifold $(M,ω)$ induces a stability condition on the derived Fukaya category of Lagrangian cobordisms $D\mathcal{F}uk(\mathbb{C} \times M)$. In addition, using stability conditions, we provide general conditions under which the homomorphism $Θ: Ω_{Lag}(M)\to K_0(D\mathcal{F}uk(M))$, introduced by Biran and Cornea, is an isomorphism. This yields a better understanding of how stability conditions affe…
We prove that Lagrangian cocores and Lagrangian linking disks of a stopped Weinstein manifold generate the Lagrangian cobordism infinity-category. As a geometric consequence, we see that any brane (after stabilization) admits a Lagrangian cobordism to a disjoint union of some standard collection of branes (cocores, linking disks, and a zero object). For example, when our stopped Weinstein manifold is a point stopped by itself, we find that any exact brane in Euclidean space admits a Lagrangian cobordism to a disjoint union of cotangent fibers and a zero object. (This is a stronger statement th…
We study Lagrangian cobordism groups of oriented surfaces of genus greater than two. We compute the immersed oriented Lagrangian cobordism group of these surfaces. We show that a variant of this group, with relations given by unobstructed immersed Lagrangian cobordisms computes the Grothendieck group of the derived Fukaya category. The proof relies on an argument of Abouzaid.
Given an exact relatively Pin Lagrangian embedding Q in a symplectic manifold M, we construct an A-infinity restriction functor from the wrapped Fukaya category of M to the category of modules on the differential graded algebra of chains over the based loop space of Q. If M is the cotangent bundle of Q, this functor induces an A-infinity equivalence between the wrapped Floer cohomology of a cotangent fibre and the chains over the based loop space of Q, extending a result proved by Abbondandolo and Schwarz at the level of homology.
In this paper we establish a version of homological mirror symmetry for punctured Riemann surfaces. Following a proposal of Kontsevich we model A-branes on a punctured surface $Σ$ via the topological Fukaya category. We prove that the topological Fukaya category of $Σ$ is equivalent to the category of matrix factorizations of the mirror LG model $(X,W)$. Along the way we establish new gluing results for the topological Fukaya category of punctured surfaces which might be of independent interest.
We prove a version of homological mirror symmetry statement for toric Calabi-Yau $3$-orbifolds, thus extending arXiv:1604.06448 to the case of orbifolds under the mirror symmetry setting considered in arXiv:1604.07123. The B-model is the matrix factorization category for the toric Calabi-Yau $3$-orbifold with a superpotential; while the A-model is a topologically defined Fukaya-type category on its mirror curve.
Seidel introduced the notion of a Fukaya category `relative to an ample divisor', explained that it is a deformation of the Fukaya category of the affine variety that is the complement of the divisor, and showed how the relevant deformation theory is controlled by the symplectic cohomology of the complement. We elaborate on Seidel's definition of the relative Fukaya category, and give a criterion under which the deformation is versal.
The aim of this paper is to identify the pong algebra defined in our earlier work with a certain endomorphism algebra in the wrapped Fukaya category of the symmetric product of a disk.
In this paper, we construct a Fukaya category of any infinite type surface whose objects are gradient sectorial Lagrangians. This class of Lagrangian submanifolds is introduced by one of the authors in [Oh21b] which can serve as an object of a Fukaya category of any Liouville manifold that admits an exhausting proper Morse function, in particular on the Riemann surface of infinite type. We describe a generating set of the Fukaya category in terms of the end structure of the surface when the surface has countably many limit points in its ideal boundary, the latter of which can be described in t…
We compute the Lagrangian cobordism group of the standard symplectic 2-torus and prove that it is isomorphic to the Grothendieck group of its derived Fukaya category. The proofs use homological mirror symmetry for the 2-torus.
In part I, using the theory of $\infty$-categories, we constructed a natural ``continuous action'' of $\operatorname {Ham} (M, ω) $ on the Fukaya category of a closed monotone symplectic manifold. Here we show that this action is generally homotopically non-trivial, i.e implicitly the main part of a conjecture of Teleman. We use this to give various applications. For example we find new curvature constraint phenomena for smooth and singular $\mathcal{G}$-connections on principal $\mathcal{G}$-bundles over $S ^{4}$, where $\mathcal{G}$ is $\operatorname {PU} (2)$ or $\operatorname {Ham} (S ^{2}…
Homological mirror symmetry (HMS) asserts that the Fukaya category of a symplectic manifold is derived equivalent to the category of coherent sheaves on the mirror complex manifold. Without suitable enlargement (split closure) of the Fukaya category, certain objects of it are missing to prevent HMS from being true. One possible solution is to include coisotropic branes into the Fukaya category. This paper gives a construction for linear symplectic tori of a version of Fukaya category including coisotropic branes by using a doubling procedure, and discussing the relation between the Fukaya cate…
In this paper, using similar idea as in Fukaya-Oh's work ([9]), we devise a method to compute the Fukaya category of certain exact symplectic manifolds by reducing it to the corresponding Morse category of non-Hausdorff manifold as perturbation of the Lagrangian skeleton of the exact symplectic manifold.
We define a new class of symplectic objects called "stops", which roughly speaking are Liouville hypersurfaces in the boundary of a Liouville domain. Locally, these can be viewed as pages of a compatible open book. To a Liouville domain with a collection of disjoint stops, we assign an $A_\infty$-category called its partially wrapped Fukaya category. An exact Landau-Ginzburg model gives rise to a stop, and the corresponding partially wrapped Fukaya category is meant to agree with the Fukaya category one is supposed to assign to the Landau-Ginzburg model. As evidence, we prove a formula that re…
We consider a version of the relative Fukaya category for anticanonical Lefschetz pencils. There are direct connections between the behaviour of this category and enumerative geometry: some of these are results announced here, others remain conjectural. The ultimate aim of this approach is to determine the Fukaya category of the Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces that constitute the pencil.
This article introduces and provides the mathematical foundation of the open string Floer theory of Landau-Ginzburg model viaWitten equation. We introduce the concept of regular tame exact Landau-Ginzburg system on a noncompact Kaehler manifold, and define the notion of Landau-Ginzburg branes, as the objects of the Fukaya category. The study on Witten equation in our context provides the construction of the Fukaya category of Landau-Ginzburg model which was conjectured to be existed in Gaiotto-Moore-Witten's work [22] and Kapranov-Kontsevich-Soibelman's work [30]. This is the first paper in th…
This paper is about the Fukaya category of a Fano hypersurface $X \subset \mathbb{CP}^n$. Because these symplectic manifolds are monotone, both the analysis and the algebra involved in the definition of the Fukaya category simplify considerably. The first part of the paper is devoted to establishing the main structures of the Fukaya category in the monotone case: the closed-open string maps, weak proper Calabi-Yau structure, Abouzaid's split-generation criterion, and their analogues when weak bounding cochains are included. We then turn to computations of the Fukaya category of the hypersurfac…
This paper discusses the cobordism of Lagrangian submanifolds (in the monotone setting) and structures it as a category that is related in a functorial way to an appropriate (derived) Fukaya category. Are also discussed obstructions to cobordism based on properties of Lagrangian quantum homology, relations to Lagrangian surgery, as well as examples of non-isotopic but cobordant Lagrangians. This is a revision of our earlier preprint from September 2011.
Two natural symplectic constructions, the Lagrangian suspension and Seidel's quantum representation of the fundamental group of the group of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms, Ham(M), with (M,ω) a monotone symplectic manifold, admit categorifications as actions of the fundamental groupoid Π(Ham(M)) on a cobordism category recently introduced in \cite{Bi-Co:cob2} and, respectively, on a monotone variant of the derived Fukaya category. We show that the functor constructed in \cite{Bi-Co:cob2} that maps the cobordism category to the derived Fukaya category is equivariant with respect to these actions.
We study two functors between (partially) wrapped Fukaya categories. The first is the Orlov functor from the Fukaya category of a stop to the Fukaya category of the ambient sector. We give a geometric criterion for when this functor is spherical in the sense of Anno-Logvinenko. This criterion is a generalization of the situation where the stop comes from a Landau-Ginzburg model. The second functor is the Viterbo transfer map from a Liouville domain to a subdomain. We show that when the domain and subdomain are independently Weinstein, this functor is a homological epimorphism, which means that…
Given a collection of exact Lagrangians in a Liouville manifold, we construct a map from the Hochschild homology of the Fukaya category that they generate to symplectic cohomology. Whenever the identity in symplectic cohomology lies in the image of this map, we conclude that every Lagrangian lies in the idempotent closure of the chosen collection. The main new ingredients are (1) the construction of operations controlled by discs with two outputs on the Fukaya category, and (2) the Cardy relation.
We study the following quantitative phenomenon in symplectic topology: In many situations, if a Lagrangian cobordism is sufficiently small (in a sense specified below) then its topology is to a large extend determined by its boundary. This principle allows us to derive several homological uniqueness results for small Lagrangian cobordisms. In particular, under the smallness assumption, we prove homological uniqueness of the class of Lagrangian cobordisms which, by Biran-Cornea's Lagrangian cobordism theory, induces operations on a version of the derived Fukaya category. We also establish a lin…
For $X = \mathbb{P}^n$ the Euler sequence is given by $$ 0 \rightarrow Ω^1_{\mathbb{P}^n} \rightarrow \mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^n}^{n+1}(-1) \rightarrow \mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}^n} \rightarrow 0 $$ We describe the Lagrangian cobordism corresponding to this sequence via mirror symmetry, in the sense of Biran-Cornea. In particular, we describe the mirror Lagrangian of the cotangent sheaf $Ω^1_{\mathbb{P}^n} \in \mathcal{D}^b(\mathbb{P}^n)$ in the mirror Fukaya category $Fuk(U_Δ)$.
We introduce the wrapped Donaldson-Fukaya category of a (generalized) semi-toric SYZ fibration with Lagrangian section satisfying a tameness condition at infinity. Examples include the Gross fibration on the complement of an anti-canonical divisor in a toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold. We compute the wrapped Floer cohomology of a Lagrangian section and find that it is the algebra of functions on the Hori-Vafa mirror. The latter result is the key step in proving homological mirror symmetry for this case. The techniques developed here allow the construction in general of the wrapped Fukaya category on an…
Given a J-holomorphic Morse function on a symplectic manifold, a new construction of the Fukaya-Seidel category is outlined. Applying this construction in an infinite dimensional case, a Fukaya-Seidel-type category is associated to a smooth three-manifold. In this case the construction is based on a five-dimensional gauge theory.
We construct the Fukaya category of a closed surface equipped with an area form using only elementary (essentially combinatorial) methods. We also compute the Grothendieck group of its derived category.
We prove a structural result in mirror symmetry for projective Calabi--Yau (CY) manifolds. Let $X$ be a connected symplectic CY manifold, whose Fukaya category $\mathcal{F}(X)$ is defined over some suitable Novikov field $\mathbb{K}$; its mirror is assumed to be some smooth projective scheme $Y$ over $\mathbb{K}$ with `maximally unipotent monodromy'. Suppose that some split-generating subcategory of (a $\mathsf{dg}$ enhancement of) $D^bCoh( Y)$ embeds into $\mathcal{F}(X)$: we call this hypothesis `core homological mirror symmetry'. We prove that the embedding extends to an equivalence of cate…
We build the wrapped Fukaya category W(E) for any monotone symplectic manifold, convex at infinity. We define the open-closed and closed open-string maps. We study their algebraic properties and prove that the string maps are compatible with the eigenvalue splitting of W(E). We extend Abouzaid's generation criterion from the exact to the monotone setting. We construct an acceleration functor from the compact Fukaya category which on Hochschild (co)homology commutes with the string maps and the canonical map from quantum cohomology QH(E) to symplectic cohomology SH(E). We define the QH(E)- and …
The Fukaya category of a Weinstein manifold is an intricate symplectic invariant of high interest in mirror symmetry and geometric representation theory. This paper informally sketches how, in analogy with Morse homology, the Fukaya category might result from gluing together Fukaya categories of Weinstein cells. This can be formalized by a recollement pattern for Lagrangian branes parallel to that for constructible sheaves. Assuming this structure, we exhibit the Fukaya category as the global sections of a sheaf on the conic topology of the Weinstein manifold. This can be viewed as a symplecti…
Given an exact symplectic manifold M and a support Lagrangian Λ, we construct an infinity-category Lag, which we conjecture to be equivalent (after specialization of the coefficients) to the partially wrapped Fukaya category of M relative to Λ. Roughly speaking, the objects of Lag are Lagrangian branes inside of M x T*(R^n), for large n, and the morphisms are Lagrangian cobordisms that are non-characteristic with respect to Λ. The main theorem of this paper is that Lag is a stable infinity-category, so that its homotopy category is triangulated, with mapping cones given by an elementary constr…
We introduce an $A_\infty$ map from the cubical chain complex of the based loop space of Lagrangian submanifolds with Legendrian boundary in a Liouville Manifold $C_{*}(Ω_{L} \mathcal{L}\mathit{ag})$ to wrapped Floer cohomology of Lagrangian submanifold $\mathcal{CW}^{-*}(L,L)$. In the case of a cotangent bundle and a Lagrangian co-fiber, the composition of our map with a previously constructed map from $\mathcal{CW}^*(L,L) \to C_{*}(Ω_q Q) $ shows that this map is split surjective.
Let $Ham (M,ω) $ denote the Frechet Lie group of Hamiltonian symplectomorphisms of a monotone symplectic manifold $(M, ω) $. Let $NFuk (M, ω)$ be the $A _{\infty} $-nerve of the Fukaya category $Fuk (M, ω)$, and let $(|\mathbb{S}|, NFuk (M, ω))$ denote the $NFuk (M, ω)$ component of the ``space of $\infty$-categories'' $|\mathbb{S}| $. Using Floer-Fukaya theory for a monotone $(M, ω)$ we construct a natural up to homotopy classifying map \begin{equation*} BHam (M, ω) \to (|\mathbb{S}|, NFuk (M, ω)). \end{equation*} This verifies one sense of a conjecture of Teleman on existence of action of $H…
