We study the magnetic field vs temperature ($H$--$T$) and pressure vs temperature ($P$--$T$) phase diagram of the $T_c \approx 5.5$~K superconducting phase in Pd$_x$Bi$_2$Te$_3$ ($x \approx 1$) using electrical resistivity versus temperature measurements at various applied magnetic fields ($H$) and magnetic susceptibility versus temperature measurements at various applied magnetic fields ($H$) and pressure ($P$). The $H$--$T$ phase diagram has an initial upward curvature as observed in some unconventional superconductors. The critical field extrapolated to $T = 0$~K is $H_c (0) \approx 6$--$10$~kOe. The $T_c$ is suppressed approximately linearly with pressure at a rate $dT_c/dP \approx -0.28$~K/GPa.
We have constructed a phase diagram in temperature-magnetic field-disorder space for homogeneously disordered superconducting tantalum thin films. Phases are phenomenologically identified by the nonlinear transport characteristics that are unique in each phase. The resulting phase diagram shows that a direct superconductor-insulator transition is prohibited at any disorder because the superconducting phase is completely surrounded by the intervening metallic phase.
We present new measurements of the specific heat of the heavy fermion superconductor PrOs4Sb12, on a sample which exhibits two sharp distinct anomalies at Tc1= 1.89K and Tc2= 1.72K. They are used to draw a precise magnetic field-temperature superconducting phase diagram of PrOs4Sb12 down to 350 mK. We discuss the superconducting phase diagram of PrOs4Sb12 and its possible relation with an unconventional superconducting order parameter. We give a detailed analysis of Hc2(T), which shows paramagnetic limitation (a support for even parity pairing) and multiband effects.
We develop the Ginzburg - Landau theory of the upper critical field in the basal plane of a tetragonal multiband metal in two-component superconducting state. It is shown that typical for the two component superconducting state the upper critical field basal plane anisotropy and the phase transition splitting still exist in a multiband case. However, the value of anisotropy can be effectively smaller than in the single band case. The results are discussed in the application to the superconducting Sr2RuO4.
Electrical-resistivity and magnetic-susceptibility measurements under hydrostatic pressure up to p = 2.75 GPa have been performed on superconducting LiFeP. A broad superconducting (SC) region exists in the temperature - pressure (T-p) phase diagram. No indications for a spin-density-wave transition have been found, but an enhanced resistivity coefficient at low pressures hints at the presence of magnetic fluctuations. Our results show that the superconducting state in LiFeP is more robust than in the isostructural and isoelectronic LiFeAs. We suggest that this finding is related to the nearly …
We have used electron and neutron powder diffraction to elucidate the structural properties of superconducting \NaD. Our measurements show that our superconducting sample exhbits a number of supercells ranging from ${1/3}a^{*}$ to ${1/15}a^{*}$, but the most predominant one, observed also in the neutron data, is a double hexagonal cell with dimensions \dhx. Rietveld analysis reveals that \deut\space is inserted between CoO$_{2}$ sheets as to form a layered network of NaO$_{6}$ triangular prisms. Our model removes the need to invoke a 5K superconducting point compound and suggests that a solid …
Since the discovery of superconductivity in infinite-layer nickelates RNiO$_2$ (R=La, Pr, Nd), great research efforts have been paid to unveil its underlying superconducting mechanism. However, the physical origin of the intriguing hole-doped superconductivity phase diagram, characterized by a superconductivity dome sandwiched between two weak insulators, is still unclear. Here, we present a microscopic theory for electronic structure of nickelates from a fundamental model-based perspective. We found that the appearance of weak insulator phase in lightly and heavily hole-doped regime is domina…
We report a comparative study of the series Fe1.1Te1-xSex and the stoichiometric FeTe1-xSex to bring out the difference in their magnetic, superconducting and electronic properties. The Fe1.1Te1-xSex series is found to be magnetic and its microscopic properties are elucidated through Moessbauer spectroscopy. The magnetic phase diagram of Fe1.1Te1-xSex is traced out and it shows the emergence of spin-glass state when the antiferromagnetic state is destabilized by the Se substitution. The isomer shift and quadrupolar splitting obtained from the Moessbauer spectroscopy clearly brings out the elec…
We have studied the superconducting phase diagram of \NaH\space as a function of electronic doping, characterizing our samples both in terms of Na content $x$ and the Co valence state. Our findings are consistent with a recent report that intercalation of \oxp\space ions into Na$_{x}$CoO$_{2}$, together with water, act as an additional dopant indicating that Na sub-stochiometry alone does not control the electronic doping of these materials. We find a superconducting phase diagram where optimal \Tc\space is achieved through a Co valence range of 3.24 - 3.35, while \Tc\space decreases for mater…
We measure the electrical resistance of o-TaS3 between 1K and 300K under pressures up to 20GPa. We observe a gradual decrease of the charge density wave transition temperature with increasing pressure P following a mean-field quantum fluctuation power law with a quantum critical point at a pressure Pc = 11.5GPa. Around the quantum critical point we observe a superconducting dome with a maximum superconducting transition temperature Tc = 3.1K. Such dome is similar to superconducting domes around other types of order suggesting that the QCP is directly responsible for the enhancement of supercon…
We synthesized Nax(H3O)zCoO2yH2O samples with various Na/H3O ratios but with the constant Co valence of s = +3.40, and measured their magnetic properties to draw phase diagrams of the system. The superconductivity is very sensitive to the Na/H3O ratio. With varying x under fixed s of +3.40, magnetically ordered phase appears in the intermediate range of x sandwiched by two separated superconducting phases, suggesting that the superconductivity is induced by moderately strong magnetic interactions. In the vicinity of the magnetic phase, transition from the superconducting state to the magnetica…
To understand the recently established unique magnetic and superconducting phase diagram of LaFeAsO$_{1-x}$H$_x$, we analyze the realistic multiorbital tight-binding model for $x=0 \sim 0.4$ beyond the rigid band approximation. Both the spin and orbital susceptibilities are calculated in the presence of the Coulomb and charge quadrupole interactions. It is found that both orbital and spin fluctuations strongly develop at both $x \sim 0$ and 0.4, due to the strong violation of the rigid band picture in LaFeAsO$_{1-x}$H$_x$. Based on this result, we discuss the experimental phase diagram, especi…
We report transport measurements using pulsed magnetic fields to suppress the superconducting fluctuations (SCF) conductivity in a series of YBa_2Cu_3O_(6+x) samples. These experiments allow us altogether to measure the temperature T'c at which SCF disappear, and the pseudogap temperature T*. While the latter are consistent with previous determinations of T*, we find that T'c is slightly larger than similar data taken by Nernst measurements. A careful investigation near optimal doping shows that T* becomes smaller than T'c, which is an unambiguous evidence that the pseudogap cannot be assigned…
The interplay between superconductivity and Eu$ ^{2+}$ magnetic moments in EuFe$_2$(As$_{1-x}$P$_x$)$_2$ is studied by electrical resistivity measurements under hydrostatic pressure on $x=0.13$ and $x=0.18$ single crystals. We can map hydrostatic pressure to chemical pressure $x$ and show, that superconductivity is confined to a very narrow range $0.18\leq x \leq 0.23$ in the phase diagram, beyond which ferromagnetic (FM) Eu ordering suppresses superconductivity. The change from antiferro- to FM Eu ordering at the latter concentration coincides with a Lifshitz transition and the complete depre…
We compare the superconducting phase-diagram under high magnetic fields (up to $H = 45$ T) of Fe$_{1+y}$Se$_{0.4}$Te$_{0.6}$ single crystals originally grown by the Bridgman-Stockbarger (BRST) technique, which were annealed to display narrow superconducting transitions and the optimal transition temperature $T_c \gtrsim 14$ K, with the diagram for samples of similar stoichiometry grown by the traveling-solvent floating-zone technique as well as with the phase-diagram reported for crystals grown by a self-flux method. We find that the so-annealed samples tend to display higher ratios $H_{c2}/T_…
We use heat capacity measurements as a function of field rotation to identify the nodal gap structure of CeIrIn5 at pressures to 2.05 GPa, deep inside its superconducting dome. A four-fold oscillation in the heat capacity at 0.3 K is observed for all pressures but with its sign reversed between 1.50 and 0.90 GPa. On the basis of recent theoretical models for the field-angle dependent specific heat, all data, including the sign reversal, imply a d{x^2-y^2} order parameter with nodes along [110], which constrains theoretical models of the pairing mechanism in CeIrIn5.
The superconductor at the LaAlO3-SrTiO3 interface provides a model system for the study of two-dimensional superconductivity in the dilute carrier density limit. Here we experimentally address the pairing mechanism in this superconductor. We extract the electron-phonon spectral function from tunneling spectra and conclude, without ruling out contributions of further pairing channels, that electron-phonon mediated pairing is strong enough to account for the superconducting critical temperatures. Furthermore, we discuss the electron-phonon coupling in relation to the superconducting phase diagra…
We present measurements of the superconducting upper critical field Hc2(T) and the magnetic phase diagram of the superconductor ErNi2B2C made with a scanning tunneling microscope (STM). The magnetic field was applied in the basal plane of the tetragonal crystal structure. We have found large gapless regions in the superconducting phase diagram of ErNi2B2C, extending between different magnetic transitions. A close correlation between magnetic transitions and Hc2(T) is found, showing that superconductivity is strongly linked to magnetism.
We report the superconducting transition temperature of 6Li between 16-26 GPa, the lightest system to exhibit superconductivity to date. The superconducting phase diagram of 6Li is compared to that of 7Li through simultaneous measurement in a diamond anvil cell (DAC) 1, 2. Below 21.5 GPa, Li exhibits a direct, but unusually large isotope effect, while between 21.5-26 GPa, lithium shows an inverse superconducting isotope effect. The unusual dependence of the superconducting phase diagram of lithium on its atomic mass provides evidence that quantum solid effects dominate the low temperature prop…
We study spin-fluctuation-mediated superconductivity in the one-band Hubbard model. Higher order effective interactions in $U$ give rise to a superconducting instability which is very sensitive to changes in the Fermi surface topology arising as a function of doping and changes in the band structure. We show the superconducting phase diagram as a function of doping and next-nearest neighbor hopping in the limit of very small Coulomb interaction strength and discuss peculiarities arising at the phase boundaries separating different superconducting domains.
The paper examines part of the ground state diagram of the extended Hubbard model, with the on-site attraction U<0 and intersite repulsion W>0 in the presence of charge density waves, superconducting and $η$-superconducting order parameters. We show the possibility of the stabilization of the mixed state, with all three nonzero order parameters, in the model with nearest neighbor interactions. The other result of the paper is application of the exact solution of the Schrodinger equation for the two electron bound state, as an additional bound for the phase diagram of the model, resulting in th…
We report the superconducting properties of the K$_{x}$WO$_{3}$ tetragonal tungsten bronze. The highest superconducting transition temperature ($T_{c}=2.1$K) was obtained for K$_{0.38}$WO$_{3}$. $T_{c}$ decreases linearly with increasing K content. Using the measured values for the upper critical field $H_{c2}$, and the specific heat $C$, we estimate the orbital critical field $H_{c2}$(0), coherence length $ξ$(0), Debye temperature $Θ_{D}$ and coupling constant $λ_{ep}$. The magnitude of the specific heat jump at $T_{c}$ suggests that the K$_{x}$WO$_{3}$ tetragonal tungsten bronze is a weakly-…
The symmetry approach to the description of the (P,T) phase diagram of ferromagnet superconductors with triplet pairing is developed. Taking into account the recent experimental observations made on UCoGe it is considered the case of a crystal with orthorhombic structure and strong spin-orbital coupling. It is shown that formation of ferromagnet superconducting state from a superconducting state is inevitably accompanied by the first order type transition.
The superconducting Cu_xBi_2Se_3 is an electron-doped topological insulator and is a prime candidate of the topological superconductor which still awaits discovery. The electrochemical intercalation technique for synthesizing Cu_xBi2Se3 offers good control of restricting Cu into the van-der-Waals gap and yields samples with shielding fractions of up to ~50%. We report essential details of this synthesis technique and present the established superconducting phase diagram of T_c vs x, along with a diagram of the shielding fraction vs x. Intriguingly, those diagrams suggest that there is a tenden…
The temperature-pressure phase diagram of ferromagnetic superconductor UCoGe includes four phase transitions. They are between the paramagnetic and the ferromagnetic states with the subsequent transition in the superconducting ferromagnetic state and between the normal and the superconducting states after which has to occur the transition to the superconducting ferromagnetic state. Here we have developed the Landau theory description of the phase diagram and established the specific ordering arising at each type of transition. The phase transitions to the ferromagnetic superconducting state ar…
We use transport and neutron scattering to study the electronic phase diagram and spin excitations of NaFe$_{1-x}$Cu$_x$As single crystals. Similar to Co- and Ni-doped NaFeAs, a bulk superconducting phase appears near $x\approx2\%$ with the suppression of stripe-type magnetic order in NaFeAs. Upon further increasing Cu concentration the system becomes insulating, culminating in an antiferromagnetically ordered insulating phase near $x\approx 50\%$. Using transport measurements, we demonstrate that the resistivity in NaFe$_{1-x}$Cu$_x$As exhibits non-Fermi-liquid behavior near $x\approx1.8\%$. …
Solving numerically the 3D non linear Ginzburg-Landau (GL) equations, we study equilibrium and nonequilibrium phase transitions between different superconducting states of mesoscopic disks which are thinner than the coherence length and the penetration depth. We have found a smooth transition from a multi-vortex superconducting state to a giant vortex state with increasing both the disk thickness and the magnetic field. A vortex phase diagram is obtained which shows, as function of the magnetic field, a re-entrant behavior between the multi-vortex and the giant vortex state.
The effect of the collision term of the Boltzmann equation is discussed for the diagonal conductivity in the absence of magnetic field and the off-diagonal conductivity within the linear order of magnetic field. The consistency between the Boltzmann equation and the Fermi-liquid theory is confirmed. The electron-electron interaction is totally taken into account via the self-energy of the electron. The Umklappness is taken into account as the geometrical factor. The current-vertex correction in the fluctuation-exchange (FLEX) approximation violates these conventional schemes. In the Appendix t…
We have carried out a determination of the magnetic-field-temperature (H-T) phase diagram for realistic models of the high field superconducting state of tetragonal Sr_2RuO_4 with fields oriented in the basal plane. This is done by a variational solution of the Eilenberger equations. This has been carried for spin-triplet gap functions with a {\bf d}-vector along the c-axis (the chiral p-wave state) and with a {\bf d}-vector that can rotate easily in the basal plane. We find that, using gap functions that arise from a combination of nearest and next nearest neighbor interactions, the upper crit…
We review and extend a previous study on the symmetry of the superconducting state, stimulated by recent tunneling and Andreev reflection measurements giving robust evidences for the existence of a $d_{x^2-y^2}+id_{xy}$ order parameter in the overdoped regime of two different cuprates. Looking for a possible second-order phase transition from a standard $d_{x^2-y^2}$ to a mixed and time reversal breaking state, we confirm the results of our previous analysis on La$_{2-x}$Sr$_{x}$CuO$_{4}$. In the case of Y$_{1-y}$Ca$_y$Ba$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7-x}$ as well, among all the allowed symmetries, the $d_{x^…
The phase diagram of superconducting copper oxides is calculated as a function of doping based on a theory of dynamic stripe induced superconductivity. The two major conclusions from the theory and the numerical analysis are that T* (the pseudogap onset) and Tc (superconductivity onset) are correlated through the pseudogap, which induces a gap in the single particle energies that persists into the superconducting state. By decreasing the doping the pseudogap Delta* increases and T* increases, but when Delta* exceeds a certain critical value the superconducting transition temperature Tc is supp…
The superconducting phase diagram of MgB2 was determined from magnetization, magneto-transport and the first single-crystal specific heat measurements. A zero-temperature in-plane coherence length of 8 nm is determined. The superconducting anisotropy increases from a value around 2 near Tc to above 4.5 at 22 K. For H||c a pronounced peak effect in the critical current occurs at the upper critical field. Evidence for a surface superconducting state is presented for H||c which might account for the wide spread in reported values of the anisotropy.
We measured the resistivity and magnetic susceptibility to map out the phase diagram of single crystalline NaFe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$As. Replacement of Fe by Co suppresses both the structural and magnetic transition, while enhances the superconducting transition temperature ($T_{\rm c}$) and superconducting component fraction. Magnetic susceptibility exhibits temperature-linear dependence in the high temperatures up to 500 K for all the superconducting samples, but such behavior suddenly breaks down for the non-superconducting overdoped crystal, suggesting that the superconductivity is closely related…
Infinite-layer Nd1-xSrxNiO2 thin films with Sr doping level x from 0.08 to 0.3 were synthesized and investigated. We found a superconducting dome to be between 0.12 and 0.235 which is accompanied by a weakly insulating behaviour in both underdoped and overdoped regimes. The dome is akin to that in the electron-doped 214-type and infinite-layer cuprate superconductors. For x higher than 0.18, the normal state Hall coefficient ($R_{H}$) changes the sign from negative to positive as the temperature decreases. The temperature of the sign changes monotonically decreases with decreasing x from the o…
The competition between the singlet superconducting states with $s$- and d-wave symmetry of the order parameter is studied within a single-band model with nearest-neighbor attractive interaction. The zero- and finite-temperature ground state phase diagrams are constructed for different ratios between the nearest- and next-nearest-neighbor electron transfer integrals. The mixed $s+id$ pairing state is shown to form in the intermediate region between $s$- and d-waves. The temperature phase transitions between the pure and the mixed pairing state are found.
Combining electronic Raman scattering experiments with cellular dynamical mean field theory, we present evidence of the pseudogap in the superconducting state of various hole-doped cuprates. In Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d we track the superconducting pseudogap hallmark, a peak-dip feature, as a function of temperature T and doping p, well beyond the optimal one. We show that, at all temperatures under the superconducting dome, the pseudogap disappears at the doping pc, between 0.222 and 0.226, where also the normal-state pseudogap collapses at a Lifshitz transition. This demonstrates that the superconduct…
This paper reviews experimental phase diagrams of cuprates and pnictides to demonstrate that specific features of the superconducting phase diagrams in bothHTSC families can be understood within the framework of the proposed approach, which assumes the formation, under heterovalent doping, of localized trion complexes consisting of a doped carrier and charge transfer (CT) excitons. The geometry of such cells containing CT excitons (CT plaquettes) in the basal plane of the crystal is determined by its crystal structure and the type of dopant, so that the dopant concentration range corresponding …
After an initial transient period, the conduction regime in a 1D superconducting wire that carries a fixed current is either normal or periodic or stationary. The phase diagram for these possibilities was studied in Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 99}, 167003 (2007) for particular values of the length and the material parameters. We have extended this study to arbitrary length and to a range of material parameters that includes realistic values. Variation of the length leads to scaling laws for the phase diagram. Variation of the material parameters leads to new qualitative features and new phases, incl…
We report structurally tuned superconductivity in KxFe2-ySe2-zSz (0<=z<=2) phase diagram. Superconducting Tc is suppressed as S is incorporated into the lattice, eventually vanishing at 80% of S. The magnetic and conductivity properties can be related to stoichiometry on poorly occupied Fe1 site and the local environment of nearly fully occupied Fe2 site. The decreasing Tc coincides with the increasing Fe1 occupancy and the overall increase in Fe stoichiometry from z = 0 to z = 2. Our results indicate that the irregularity of Fe2-Se/S tetrahedron is an important controlling parameter that can …
Motivated by a striking observation of a Fulde-Ferell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) vortex state in the heavy fermion material CeCoIn5 in fields {\it perpendicular} to the superconducting planes (${\bf H} \parallel c$), superconducting phase diagrams including an FFLO state of quasi two-dimensional (Q2D) superconductors are systematically studied. In the clean {\it limit}, the high field superconducting state in the low temperature limit should be not the FFLO state modulating along ${\bf H}$, appeared in CeCoIn5 in both ${\bf H} \parallel c$ and ${\bf H} \perp c$, but a different vortex state wit…
Ratchet motion of superconducting vortices, which is a directional flow of vortices in superconductors, is highly useful for exploring quantum phenomena and developing superconducting devices, such as superconducting diode and microwave antenna. However, because of the challenges in the quantitative characterization of the dynamic motion of vortices, a phase diagram of the vortex ratchet motion is still missing, especially in the superconductors with low dimensional structures. Here we establish a quantitative phase diagram of the vortex ratchet motion in a highly anisotropic superlattice supe…
Extensive numerical studies have demonstrated that the two-dimensional single-band Hubbard model contains much of the key physics in cuprate high-temperature superconductors. However, there is no definitive proof that the Hubbard model truly possesses a superconducting ground state or, if it does, of how it depends on model parameters. To answer these longstanding questions, we study an extension of the Hubbard model including an infinite-range d-wave pair field term, which precipitates a superconducting state in the d-wave channel. Using exact diagonalization on 16-site square clusters, we st…
A non-equilibrium phase (Sr1-xLax)Fe2As2 was formed by epitaxial film-growth. The resulting films emerged superconductivity along with suppression of the resistivity anomaly that is associated with magnetic and structural phase transitions. The maximum critical temperature was 20.8 K, which is almost the same as that of directly electron-doped Sr(Fe1-xCox)2As2. Its electronic phase diagram is much similar to that of Sr(Fe1-xCox)2As2, indicating that the difference in the electron doping sites does not influence the superconducting properties of 122-type SrFe2As2.
Based on an improved SU(2) slave-boson approach to the t-J Hamiltonian, we derive a phase diagram of high $T_c$ cuprates which displays both the superconducting and pseudogap phases in the plane of temperature vs. hole doping rate. It is shown that the inclusion of phase fluctuations in the order parameters results in a closer agreement with the observed superconducting temperature(bose condensation line) of an arch shape as a function of hole doping rate.
Starting from a spin-fermion model for the cuprate superconductors, we obtain an effective interaction for the charge carriers by integrating out the spin degrees of freedom. Our model predicts a quantum critical point for the superconducting interaction coupling, which sets up a threshold for the onset of superconductivity in the system. We show that the physical value of this coupling is below this threshold, thus explaining why there is no superconducting phase for the undoped system. Then, by including doping, we find a dome-shaped dependence of the critical temperature as charge carriers …
A model for high-temperature superconductors incorporating antiferromagnetism, d-wave superconductivity, and no double lattice-site occupancy can give energy surfaces exquisitely balanced between antiferromagnetic and superconducting order for specific ranges of doping and temperature. The resulting properties can reconcile a universal cuprate phase diagram with rich inhomogeneity, relate that inhomogeneity to pseudogaps, give a fundamental rationale for giant proximity effects and other emergent behavior, and provide an objective framework for separating essential from peripheral in the super…
We calculate the superconducting phase diagram as a function of temperature and z-axis anisotropy in a model for tetragonal and cubic systems having strong antiferromagnetic fluctuations. The formal basis for our calculations is the fluctuation exchange approximation (FLEX) applied to the single-band Hubbard model near half-filling. For nearly cubic lattices, two superconducting phase transitions are observed as a function of temperature with the low-temperature state having the time-reversal symmetry-breaking form, $d_{x^2 - y^2} \pm id_{3z^2 -r^2}$. With increasing tetragonal distortion the …
We report thermal expansion measurements on a single crystal of the superconducting ferromagnet UCoGe for magnetic fields applied along the main orthorhombic axes. The thermal expansion cell was mounted on a piezo-electric rotator in order to fine-tune the magnetic field angle. The superconducting and magnetic phase diagram has been determined. With our bulk technique we confirm the $S$-shape of the upper-critical field, $B_{c2}$, for $B \parallel b$ and reinforcement of superconductivity above 6 T. At the same time the Curie point shifts towards lower temperatures on increasing the field alon…
The organic materials (TMTSF)2X are unique unconventional superconductors with archetypal quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) electronic structures. Here, based on our comprehensive field-angle-resolved calorimetry of (TMTSF)2ClO4, we succeeded in mapping the nodal gap structure for the first time in Q1D systems, by discriminating between the Fermi wavevectors and Fermi velocities. In addition, the thermodynamic phase diagrams of (TMTSF)2ClO4 for all principal field directions are obtained. These findings, providing strong evidence of nodal spin-singlet superconductivity, serves as solid bases for fur…
The actual physical origin of the gap at the antinodes, and a clear identification of the superconducting gap are fundamental open issues in the physics of high-$T_c$ superconductors. Here, we present a systematic electronic Raman scattering study of a mercury-based single layer cuprate, as a function of both doping level and temperature. On the deeply overdoped side, we show that the antinodal gap is a true superconducting gap. In contrast, on the underdoped side, our results reveal the existence of a break point close to optimal doping below which the antinodal gap is gradually disconnected …
We report ^{115}In nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements in the heavy-fermion superconductor CeCoIn_5 as a function of temperature in different magnetic fields applied parallel to the $(\hat a, \hat b)$ plane. The measurements probe a part of the phase diagram in the vicinity of the superconducting critical field H_{c2} where a possible inhomogeneous superconducting state, Fulde-Ferrel-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO), is stabilized. We have identified clear NMR signatures of two phase transitions occurring in this part of the phase diagram. The first order phase transitions are characterized…
Superconducting state in mesoscopic cylinder placed in the external magnetic field is analyzed at general de Gennes boundary condition for the order parameter. The lower and the surface critical fields of the cylinder are calculated at different values of de Gennes "extrapolation length" $b$. For the case of standard boundary condition (corresponding to $b\to \infty $) we use a variational method to calculate the phase transitions between different superconducting states. Based on the trial function for the order parameter, we find an approximate solutions to the Ginzburg-Landau equations for …
A Diagrammer's Note on Superconducting Fluctuation Transport for Beginners: II. Hall and Nernst Effects with Perturbational Treatment of Magnetic Field
Charge density wave (CDW) instability is often found in phase diagrams of superconductors such as cuprates and certain transition-metal dichalcogenides. This proximity to superconductivity triggers the question on whether CDW instability is responsible for the pairing of electrons in these superconductors. However, this issue remains unclear and new systems are desired to provide a better picture. Here, we report the temperature-pressure phase diagram of a recently discovered BiS$_2$ superconductor La$_2$O$_2$Bi$_3$AgS$_6$, which shows a possible CDW transition at $T^*\sim$155 K and a supercon…
Temperature vs. chemical-potential phase diagrams of an SO(5) model for high-(T_c) cuprates are calculated by Monte Carlo simulation. There is a bicritical point where the second-order antiferromagnetism (AF) and superconductivity transition lines merge tangentially into a first-order line, and the SO(5) symmetry is achieved. In an external magnetic field, the AF ordering is first order in the region where the first-order melting line of flux lattice joins in. There is a tricritical point on the AF transition line from which the AF ordering becomes second order.
