The four-loop, two-point form factor contains the first non-planar correction to the lightlike cusp anomalous dimension. This anomalous dimension is a universal function which appears in many applications. Its planar part in N = 4 SYM is known, in principle, exactly from AdS/CFT and integrability while its non-planar part has been conjectured to vanish. The integrand of the form factor of the stress-tensor multiplet in N = 4 SYM including the non-planar part was obtained in previous work. We parametrise the difficulty of integrating this integrand. We have obtained a basis of master integrals for all integrals in the four-loop, two-point class in two ways. First, we computed an IBP reduction of the integrand of the N = 4 form factor using massive computer algebra (Reduze). Second, we computed a list of master integrals based on methods of the Mint package, suitably extended using Macaulay2 / Singular. The master integrals obtained in both ways are consistent with some minor exceptions. The second method indicates that the master integrals apply beyond N = 4 SYM, in particular to QCD. The numerical integration of several of the master integrals will be reported and remaining obstacles will be outlined
We present the beta functions of gauge and Yukawa couplings in general four-dimensional quantum field theory, at four and three loops, respectively. The essence of our approach is fixing unknown coefficients in the most general ansatz for beta-functions by direct calculation in several simplified models. We apply our results to the Standard Model and its extension with an arbitrary number of Higgs doublets and provide expressions for all four-loop gauge couplings beta-functions with matrix Yukawa interactions.
We present the result of a calculation for the third and fourth moments of the non-singlet four-loop anomalous dimension of Wilson twist-2 operators in QCD with full color and flavour structures. We discuss also a general expressions for some contributions to the full four-loop anomalous dimension obtained with the help of the method, based on LLL-algorithm, which was proposed earlier by us for the reconstruction of a general form of the anomalous dimension from a fixed values.
We extend the ${\cal O}(α_s^5)$ result of the analytic calculation of the quark mass anomalous dimension in pQCD [1] to the case of a generic gauge group. We present explicit formulas which express the relevant renormalization constants in terms of four-loop massless propagators. We also use our result to shed new light on the old puzzle of the absence of even zetas in results of perturbative calculations for a class of physical observables.
We compute the four-loop corrections to the Higgs-bottom vertex within massless QCD and present analytic results for all color structures. The infrared poles of the renormalized form factor agree with the predicted four-loop pattern. Furthermore, we use the results for the Higgs-bottom, photon-quark, and Higgs-gluon form factors to provide hard matching coefficients in soft-collinear effective theory up to four-loop accuracy.
We calculate the renormalization constants of the maximally extended N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories in the dimensional reduction scheme up to four loops. We have found, that the beta-function is zero both from gauge and Yukawa vertices.
In this letter we present our results for the four-loop beta-function of the strong coupling in the Standard Model of fundamental interactions. We take top-Yukawa and self-Higgs interactions into account, but neglect electroweak gauge couplings.
A previously proposed all-loop-orders relation between the Regge limits of four-point amplitudes of N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and N=8 supergravity is established at the three-loop level. We show that the Regge limit of known expressions for the amplitudes obtained using generalized unitarity simplifies in both cases to a (modified) sum over three-loop ladder and crossed-ladder scalar diagrams. This in turn is consistent with the result obtained using the eikonal representation of the four-point gravity amplitude. A possible exact three-loop relation between four-point amplitudes is …
We analytically compute all four-loop QCD corrections to the photon-quark and Higgs-gluon form factors involving a closed massless fermion loop. Our calculation of non-planar vertex integrals confirms a previous conjecture for the analytical form of the non-fermionic contributions to the collinear anomalous dimensions of quarks and gluons.
We extend useful properties of the $H\toγγ$ unintegrated dual amplitudes from one- to two-loop level, using the Loop-Tree Duality formalism. In particular, we show that the universality of the functional form -- regardless of the nature of the internal particle -- still holds at this order. We also present an algorithmic way to renormalise two-loop amplitudes, by locally cancelling the ultraviolet singularities at integrand level, thus allowing a full four-dimensional numerical implementation of the method. Our results are compared with analytic expressions already available in the literature,…
We present the Sudakov form factor in full color $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory to four loop order and provide uniformly transcendental results for the relevant master integrals through to weight eight.
We calculate the small angle expansion of the four-loop QCD cusp anomalous dimension. As a byproduct of our calculation, we also obtain the four-loop anomalous dimension of the heavy-quark field in HQET. The validity of the calculational setup is cross-checked by the independent calculation of the four-loop QCD beta-function from heavy-quark-gluon vertex renormalization in HQET. We check the obtained results for the cusp anomalous dimension and heavy-quark field anomalous dimension against available analytical and numerical results. Finally, we find that the maximal transcendentality contribut…
We consider one-loop five-point QCD amplitudes in next-to-multi-Regge kinematics, and evaluate the one-loop impact factor for the emission of two gluons. This is the last ingredient which is necessary to evaluate the gluon-jet impact factor at NNLO accuracy in $\as$. It is also the first instance in which loop-level QCD amplitudes are evaluated in next-to-multi-Regge kinematics, which requires to apply a different reggeisation ansatz to each colour-ordered amplitude.
We compute the three-loop scattering amplitude of four gravitons in ${\mathcal N}=8$ supergravity. Our results are analytic formulae for a Laurent expansion of the amplitude in the regulator of dimensional regularisation. The coefficients of this series are closed formulae in terms of well-established harmonic poly-logarithms. Our results display a remarkable degree of simplicity and represent an important stepping stone in the exploration of the structure of scattering amplitudes. In particular, we observe that to this loop order the four graviton amplitude is given by uniform weight $2L$ fun…
We compute the fermionic contribution to the photon-quark form factor to four-loop order in QCD in the planar limit in analytic form. From the divergent part of the latter the cusp and collinear anomalous dimensions are extracted. Results are also presented for the finite contribution. We briefly describe our method to compute all planar master integrals at four-loop order.
We calculate the collinear anomalous dimensions in massless four-loop QCD and $\mathcal{N} = 4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory from the infrared poles of vertex form factors. We give very precise numerical approximations and a conjecture for the complete analytic results in both models we consider.
We present novel techniques for the computation of three-loop four-parton scattering amplitudes in full color, non-planar gauge theories. We elaborate on how the analytic results for these amplitudes can be used to confirm the conjectured infrared structure of QCD up to three loops and how all-orders data can be extracted from their high-energy limit.
We present an analytic derivation of the full four-loop cusp anomalous dimension of $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory from the Sudakov form factor. To extract the cusp anomalous dimension, we calculate the $ε^{-2}$ pole of the form factor using parametric integrations of finite integrals. We provide uniformly transcendental results for the master integrals through to weight six and confirm a very recent independent analytic result for the full four-loop cusp anomalous dimension of the $\mathcal{N}=4$ model.
In this paper we study the Sudakov form factor in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory to the three-loop order. The latter is expressed in terms of planar and non-planar loop integrals. We show that it is possible to choose a representation in which each loop integral has uniform transcendentality. We verify analytically the expected exponentiation of the infrared divergences with the correct values of the three-loop cusp and collinear anomalous dimensions in dimensional regularisation. We find that the form factor in N=4 super Yang-Mills can be related to the leading transcendentality part of the quar…
Using an iterative solution of rapidity evolution equations, we compute partonic $2\to 2$ gauge theory amplitudes at four loops in full colour up to the Next-to-Next-to-Leading Logarithms (NNLL) in the Regge limit. By contrasting the resulting amplitude with the exponentiation properties of soft singularities we determine the four-loop correction to the soft anomalous dimension at this logarithmic accuracy, which universally holds in any gauge theory. We find that the latter features quartic Casimir contributions beyond those appearing in the cusp anomalous dimension. Finally, in the case of $…
The light-like cusp anomalous dimension is a universal function that controls infrared divergences in quite general quantum field theories. In the maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory this function is fixed fully by integrability to the three-loop order. At four loops a non-planar correction appears which we obtain for the first time from a numerical computation of the Sudakov form factor. Key ingredients are widely applicable methods to control the number-theoretic aspects of the appearing integrals. Our result shows explicitly that quadratic Casimir scaling breaks down at four loops.
All four-point mixed gluon-graviton amplitudes in pure Einstein-Yang-Mills theory with at most one state of negative helicity are computed at one-loop order and maximal powers of the gauge coupling using D-dimensional generalized unitarity. The resulting purely rational expressions take very compact forms. We comment on the color-kinematics duality picture and a relation to collinear limits of pure gluon amplitudes.
We present the complete formula for the cusp anomalous dimension at four loops in QCD and in maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills. In the latter theory it is given by \begin{equation} Γ^{\rm}_{\rm cusp}\Big|_{α_s^4} = -\left( \frac{α_s N}π\right)^4 \left[ \frac{73 π^6}{20160} + \frac{ ζ_{3}^2}{8} + \frac{1}{N^2} \left( \frac{31π^6}{5040} + \frac{9 ζ_3^2}{4} \right) \right] \,.\nonumber \end{equation} Our approach is based on computing the correlation function of a rectangular light-like Wilson loop with a Lagrangian insertion, normalized by the expectation value of the Wilson loop. In maximally…
We evaluate a Laurent expansion in dimensional regularization parameter $ε=(4-d)/2$ of all the master integrals for four-loop massless propagators up to transcendentality weight twelve, using a recently developed method of one of the present coauthors (R.L.) and extending thereby results by Baikov and Chetyrkin obtained at transcendentality weight seven. We observe only multiple zeta values in our results. Therefore, we conclude that all the four-loop massless propagator integrals, with any integer powers of numerators and propagators, have only multiple zeta values in their epsilon expansions…
Using cutting techniques we obtain the two-loop N=4 super-Yang-Mills helicity amplitudes for four-gluon scattering in terms of scalar integral functions. The N=4 amplitudes are considerably simpler than corresponding QCD amplitudes and therefore provide a testing ground for exploring two-loop amplitudes. The amplitudes are constructed directly in terms of gauge invariant quantities and therefore remain relatively compact throughout the calculation. We also present a conjecture for the leading color four-gluon amplitudes to all orders in the perturbative expansion.
We compute the three-loop four-gluon scattering amplitude in maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, including its full color dependence. Our result is the first complete computation of a non-planar four-particle scattering amplitude to three loops in four-dimensional gauge theory and consequently provides highly non-trivial data for the study of non-planar scattering amplitudes. We present the amplitude as a Laurent expansion in the dimensional regulator to finite order, with coefficients composed of harmonic poly-logarithms of uniform transcendental weight, and simple rational prefactors…
We calculate the four-loop massless QCD corrections with three closed quark lines to quark and gluon form factors. We apply a novel integration by parts algorithm based on modular arithmetic and compute all relevant master integrals for arbitrary values of the space-time dimension. This is the first calculation of a gluon form factor at this perturbative order in QCD.
We present the first numerical computation of two-loop amplitudes based on the unitarity method. As a proof of principle, we compute the four-gluon process. We discuss the new method, analyze its numerical properties and apply it to reconstruct the analytic form of the amplitudes. The numerical method is universal, and can be automated to provide multi-scale two-loop computations for phenomenologically relevant signatures at hadron colliders.
In arXiv:0908.2463 we computed the four-loop correction to a function depending on the 't Hooft coupling(s) that appears in the magnon dispersion relation of the spin chains derived from single trace operators in N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons theories. In this paper we give detailed descriptions of this calculation and the computation of the four-loop wrapping corrections for a length four operator in the 20 of SU(4), the R-symmetry group for these theories. Here, we give all relevant Feynman diagrams and loop integrals explicitly, and also demonstrate the cancellation of double poles in the…
The anomalous dimensions of twist two operators have to satisfy certain consistency requirements derived from BFKL. For N=4 SYM it was shown that at four loops, the anomalous dimensions derived from the all-loop asymptotic Bethe ansatz do not pass this test. In this paper we obtain the remaining wrapping part of these anomalous dimensions from string theory and show that these contributions exactly cure the problem and lead to agreement with both LO and NLO BFKL expectations.
We present the complete set of planar master integrals relevant to the calculation of three-point functions in four-loop massless Quantum Chromodynamics. Employing direct parametric integrations for a basis of finite integrals, we give analytic results for the Laurent expansion of conventional integrals in the parameter of dimensional regularization through to terms of weight eight.
Dyson-Schwinger equations are used to evaluate the 4-loop anomalous dimensions of quenched QED in terms of finite, scheme-independent, 3-loop integrals. Three of the results serve as strong checks of terms from scheme-dependent 4-loop QCD calculations. The fourth, for the anomalous dimension of $\barψσ_{μν}ψ$, was previously known only to 2-loop order. The 4-loop beta function has 24 unambiguous terms. Two of the simplest give $β_4=\frac13(22-160)=-46$. The rational, $ζ_3$ and $ζ_5$ parts of the other 22 miraculously sum to zero. Vertex anomalous dimensions have 40 terms, with no dramatic canc…
We calculate the complete quark and gluon cusp anomalous dimensions in four-loop massless QCD analytically from first principles. In addition, we determine the complete matter dependence of the quark and gluon collinear anomalous dimensions. Our approach is to Laurent expand four-loop quark and gluon form factors in the parameter of dimensional regularization. We employ finite field and syzygy techniques to reduce the relevant Feynman integrals to a basis of finite integrals, and subsequently evaluate the basis integrals directly from their standard parametric representations.
We calculate the three- and four-loop corrections to the massless fermion propagator in three-dimensional quenched Quantum Electrodynamics with four-component fermions. The three-loop correction is finite and gauge invariant but the four-loop one has singularities except in the Feynman gauge where it is also finite. Our results explicitly show that, up to four loops, gauge-dependent terms are completely determined by lower order ones in agreement with the Landau-Khalatnikov-Fradkin transformation.
For the first time, we compute three-loop contributions to all triple vertices in QCD at the symmetric point. The analytic results are obtained in massless QCD with an arbitrary color group in the Landau gauge. All new loop integrals are expressed in terms of harmonic polylogarithms at the sixth root of unity. These corrections allow us to derive expressions for the four-loop QCD beta function in a set of momentum-subtraction schemes.
We introduce a prescription to define form factor integrands at loop level in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. This relies on a periodic kinematic configuration that has been instrumental to describe form factors at strong coupling in terms of periodic Wilson loops. With this prescription, we are able to formulate loop-level recursion relations for planar form factor integrands, using a two-line (BCFW) and an all-line shift. We also point out important differences with the known recursion relations of integrands of planar loop amplitudes. We present a number of concrete…
We study in detail the factorization of the newly obtained two-loop four-particle amplitude in superstring theory. In particular some missing factors from the scalar correlators are obtained correctly, in comparing with a previous study of the factorization in two-loop superstring theory. Some details for the calculation of the factorization of the kinematic factor are also presented.
We show that the four-loop four-point amplitudes of N = 5 supergravity are ultraviolet finite in four dimensions, contrary to expectations based on supersymmetry and duality-symmetry arguments. We explain why the diagrams of any covariant local formalism cannot manifestly exhibit the necessary cancellations for finiteness but instead require a new type of nontrivial ultraviolet cancellation that we call "enhanced cancellations". We also show that the three-loop four-point amplitudes in N = 4 and N = 5 supergravity theories display enhanced cancellations. To construct the loop integrand, we use…
The four loop universal anomalous dimension of twist-2 operators in N=4 SYM has been recently conjectured. In this paper, we prove that it obeys a generalized Gribov-Lipatov reciprocity, previously known to hold at the three loop level.
We develop the method of calculation of the leading chiral (infrared) logarithms to an arbitrary loop order for various form factors of Nambu-Goldstone bosons. The method is illustrated on example of scalar and vector form factors in massless 4D O(N+1)/O(N) sigma-model. The analytical properties of the form factors are derived. The leading chiral (infrared) logarithms are summed up in the large N limit.
We calculate form factors of half-BPS operators in N=4 super Yang-Mills theory at tree level and one loop using novel applications of recursion relations and unitarity. In particular, we determine the expression of the one-loop form factors with two scalars and an arbitrary number of positive-helicity gluons. These quantities resemble closely the MHV scattering amplitudes, including holomorphicity of the tree-level form factor, and the expansion in terms of two-mass easy box functions of the one-loop result. Next, we compare our result for these form factors to the calculation of a particular …
A general outlook is presented on the study of multiloop topologies appearing for the first time at four loops. A unified description and representation of this family is provided, the so-called N$^4$MLT universal topology. Based on the Loop-Tree Duality framework, we discuss the dual opening of this family and expose the relevance of a causal representation. We explore an alternative procedure for the search of causal singular configurations of selected N$^4$MLT Feynman diagrams through the application of a modified Grover's quantum algorithm.
We define a new geometry obtained from the all-loop amplituhedron in ${\cal N}=4$ SYM by reducing its four-dimensional external and loop momenta to three dimensions. Focusing on the simplest four-point case, we provide strong evidence that the canonical form of this ``reduced amplituhedron" gives the all-loop integrand of the ABJM four-point amplitude. In addition to various all-loop cuts manifested by the geometry, we present explicitly new results for the integrand up to five loops, which are much simpler than results in ${\cal N}=4$ SYM. One of the reasons for such all-loop simplifications …
We present results for the planar contribution to the four-loop anomalous dimension for a general N=2 supersymmetric Chern-Simons theory in three dimensions. These results should facilitate higher-order superconformality checks for theories relevant for the AdS/CFT correspondence.
It is shown that the four-particle amplitude of superstring theory at two loops obtained in [1,2] is equivalent to the previously obtained results in [3,4,5]. Here the ${\bf Z}_2$ symmetry in hyperelliptic Riemann surface plays an important role in the proof.
We determine the scalar part of the four-loop chiral dilatation operator for Leigh-Strassler deformations of N=4 super Yang-Mills. This is sufficient to find the four-loop anomalous dimensions for operators in closed scalar subsectors. This includes the SU(2) subsector of the (complex) beta-deformation, where we explicitly compute the anomalous dimension for operators with a single impurity. It also includes the "3-string null" operators of the cubic Leigh-Strassler deformation. Our four-loop results show that the rational part of the anomalous dimension is consistent with a conjecture made in…
We compute in this short note the OPE coefficient of two 20' operators and the Konishi. We use the OPE decomposition of a four point function of four 20' operators and the method of asymptotic expansions to compute the integrals at the order that it is needed.
The superconformal Ward identities combined with N=2 harmonic analyticity are used to evaluate two-loop four-point correlation functions of gauge-invariant operators in D=4, N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in terms of the well-known one-loop box integral. The result is confirmed by a direct numerical computation.
We demonstrate that pure N=4 supergravity is ultraviolet divergent at four loops. The form of the divergence suggests that it is due to the rigid U(1) duality-symmetry anomaly of the theory. This is the first known example of an ultraviolet divergence in a pure ungauged supergravity theory in four dimensions. We use the duality between color and kinematics to construct the integrand of the four-loop four-point amplitude, whose ultraviolet divergence is then extracted by standard integration techniques.
We present the complete four-loop four-point amplitude in N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory, for a general gauge group and general D-dimensional covariant kinematics, and including all non-planar contributions. We use the method of maximal cuts --- an efficient application of the unitarity method --- to construct the result in terms of 50 four-loop integrals. We give graphical rules, valid in D-dimensions, for obtaining various non-planar contributions from previously-determined terms. We examine the ultraviolet behavior of the amplitude near D=11/2. The non-planar terms are as well-behaved in the u…
At four loops there first occurs a test of the four-term relation derived by the second author in the course of investigating whether counterterms from subdivergence-free diagrams form a weight system. This test relates counterterms in a four-dimensional field theory with Yukawa and $ϕ^4$ interactions, where no such relation was previously suspected. Using integration by parts, we reduce each counterterm to massless two-loop two-point integrals. The four-term relation is verified, with $<G_1-G_2+G_3-G_4> = 0 - 3ζ_3 + 6ζ_3 - 3ζ_3 = 0$, demonstrating non-trivial cancellation of the trefoil knot …
We compute the polylogarithmic parts of the two-loop four and five-graviton amplitudes where the external helicities are positive and express these in a simple compact analytic form. We use these to extract the $\ln(μ^2)$ terms from both the four and five-point amplitudes and show that these match the same $R^3$ counterterm.
We compute the coefficient of the potential three-loop divergence in pure N=4 supergravity and show that it vanishes, contrary to expectations from symmetry arguments. The recently uncovered duality between color and kinematics is used to greatly streamline the calculation. We comment on all-loop cancellations hinting at further surprises awaiting discovery at higher loops.
In a previous paper (hep-th/0510080) the effective Landau-Lifshitz (LL) Lagrangians in the SU(2) sector coming from string theory and gauge theory have been found to three loops in the effective expansion parameter $\tildeλ=λ/J^2$. In this paper we continue this study and find the effective Landau-Lifshitz Lagrangians to four loops. We extend to four-loops $\tildeλ^4$ the computations of 1/J and $1/J^2$ corrections to BMN energies done in hep-th/0510080 to three-loops. We compare these corrections obtained from quantum ``gauge-theory'' LL action with the corrections obtained from the conjectur…
We study the three-loop four-point amplitude in ABJM theory. We determine the dual conformal invariant integrals with highest number of propagators and fix their coefficients by two-particle cuts. Evaluating such a combination of integrals in dimensional regularization we provide evidence for exponentiation of the amplitude, including the finite terms. In addition we show that the three-loop amplitude can be expressed in terms of classical polylogarithms of uniform degree of transcendentality.
