In this paper, we investigate the relationship between algebraic soliton metrics and soliton metrics for geometric evolution equations on Lie groups. After discussing the general relationship between algebraic soliton metrics and soliton metrics, we investigate the cross curvature flow and the second order renormalization group flow on simply connected three-dimensional unimodular Lie groups, providing a complete classification of left invariant algebraic solitons on such spaces.
This paper provides a study of algebraic Ricci solitons in the pseudo-Riemannian case. In the Riemannian case, all nontrivial homogeneous algebraic Ricci solitons are expanding algebraic Ricci solitons. In this paper, we obtain a steady algebraic Ricci soliton and a shrinking algebraic Ricci soliton in the Lorentzian setting.
We classify Algebraic Ricci Solitons of three-dimensional Lorentzian Lie groups. All algebraic Ricci solitons that we obtain are sol-solitons. In particular, we prove that, contrary to the Riemannian case, Lorentzian Ricci solitons need not to be algebraic Ricci solitons. We classify Algebraic Ricci Solitons of three-dimensional Lorentzian Lie groups. All algebraic Ricci solitons that we obtain are solvsolitons. In particular, we obtain new solitons on $G_{2}$, $G_{5}$, and $G_{6}$, and we prove that, contrary to the Riemannian case, Lorentzian Ricci solitons need not to be algebraic Ricci sol…
In [10], Wears defined and studied algebraic T-solitons. In this paper, we give the definition of algebraic Schouten solitons as a special T-soliton and classify algebraic Schouten solitons associated to Levi-Civita connections, canonical connections and Kobayashi-Nomizu connections on three-dimensional Lorentzian Lie groups with some product structure.
In this paper, we compute canonical connections and Kobayashi-Nomizu connections and their curvature on three-dimensional Lorentzian Lie groups with some product structure. We define algebraic Ricci solitons associated to canonical connections and Kobayashi-Nomizu connections. We classify algebraic Ricci solitons associated to canonical connections and Kobayashi-Nomizu connections on three-dimensional Lorentzian Lie groups with some product structure.
We investigate the algebraic structure of complex Lie groups equipped with left-invariant metrics which are expanding semi-algebraic solitons to the Hermitian curvature flow (HCF). We show that the Lie algebras of such Lie groups decompose in the semidirect product of a reductive Lie subalgebra with their nilradicals. Furthermore, we give a structural result concerning expanding semi-algebraic solitons on complex Lie groups. It turns out that the restriction of the soliton metric to the nilradical is also an expanding algebraic soliton and we explain how to construct expanding solitons on comp…
In this short note, we show that homogeneous Ricci solitons are algebraic. As an application, we see that the generalized Alekseevskii conjecture is equivalent to the Alekseevskii conjecture.
We investigate the existence of closed $G_2$-structures which are solitons for the Laplacian flow on nilpotent Lie groups. We obtain that seven of the twelve Lie algebras admitting a closed $G_2$-structure do admit a Laplacian soliton. Moreover, one of them admits a continuous family of Laplacian solitons which are pairwise non-homothetic and the Laplacian flow evolution of four of them is not diagonal.
We use the bracket flow/algebraic soliton approach to study the Laplacian flow of $G_2$-structures and its solitons in the homogeneous case. We prove that any homogeneous Laplacian soliton is equivalent to a semi-algebraic soliton (i.e.\ a $G$-invariant $G_2$-structure on a homogeneous space $G/K$ that flows by pull-back of automorphisms of $G$ up to scaling). Algebraic solitons are geometrically characterized among Laplacian solitons as those with a `diagonal' evolution. Unlike the Ricci flow case, where any homogeneous Ricci soliton is isometric to an algebraic soliton, we have found, as an …
In this paper, we classify affine Ricci solitons associated to canonical connections and Kobayashi-Nomizu connections and perturbed canonical connections and perturbed Kobayashi-Nomizu connections on three-dimensional Lorentzian Lie groups with some product structure.
In this paper, we compute the Bott connections and their curvature on three-dimensional Lorentzian Lie groups with three different distributions, and we classify affine Ricci solitons associated to the Bott connection on three-dimensional Lorentzian Lie groups with three different distributions.
The purpose of this paper is to introduce the Ricci Yang-Mills soliton equations on nilpotent Lie groups. In the 2-step nilpotent setting, we show that these equations are strictly weaker than the Ricci soliton equations. Using techniques from Geometric Invariant Theory, we develop a procedure to build many different kinds of Ricci Yang-Mills solitons. We finish this note by producing examples of Lie groups that do not admit Ricci soliton metrics but that do admit Ricci Yang-Mills soliton metrics.
We show that a left-invariant metric g on a nilpotent Lie group N is a soliton metric if and only if a matrix U and vector v associated the manifold (N,g) satisfy the matrix equation Uv = [1], where [1] is a vector with every entry a one. We associate a generalized Cartan matrix to the matrix U and use the theory of Kac-Moody algebras to analyze the solution spaces for such linear systems. We use these methods to find infinitely many new examples of nilmanifolds with soliton metrics. We give a sufficient condition for a sum of soliton metric nilpotent Lie algebra structures to be soliton, and …
In this study, we classify some soliton nilpotent Lie algebras and possible candidates in dimension 8 and 9 up to isomorphy. We focus on 1 < 2 < ::: < n type of derivations where n is the dimension of the Lie algebras. We present algorithms to generate possible algebra structures.
In this paper we consider connections between Ricci solitons and Einstein metrics on homogeneous spaces. We show that a semi-algebraic Ricci soliton admits an Einstein one-dimensional extension if the soliton derivation can be chosen to be normal. Using our previous work on warped product Einstein metrics, we show that every normal semi-algebraic Ricci soliton also admits a $k$-dimensional Einstein extension for any $k\geq 2$. We also prove converse theorems for these constructions and some geometric and topological structure results for homogeneous warped product Einstein metrics. In the appe…
This paper is concerned with Chern-Ricci flow evolution of left-invariant hermitian structures on Lie groups. We study the behavior of a solution, as t is approaching the first time singularity, by rescaling in order to prevent collapsing and obtain convergence in the pointed (or Cheeger-Gromov) sense to a Chern-Ricci soliton. We give some results on the Chern-Ricci form and the Lie group structure of the pointed limit in terms of the starting hermitian metric and, as an application, we obtain a complete picture for the class of solvable Lie groups having a codimension one normal abelian subgr…
We consider Ricci flow on two classes of nilpotent Lie groups that generalize the three-dimensional Heisenberg group: the higher-dimensional classical Heisenberg groups, and the groups of real unitriangular matrices. Each group is known to admit a Ricci soliton, but we construct them \textit{explicitly} on each group. In the first case, this is done using Lott's blowdown method, whereby we demonstrate convergence of arbitrary diagonal metrics to the solitons. In the second case, which is more complicated, we obtain the solitons using a suitable ansatz.
The goal of this paper is to investigate which one of thenon-isometric left invariant Lorentz metrics on 4-dimensional nilpotent Lie groups $H_3 \times {\Bbb R}$ and $G_4$ satisfy in Ricci Soliton equation. Among the left-invariant Lorentzian metrics on $H_3 \times {\Bbb R}$, ~ $g_λ^{+}$ is a shrinking while $g_λ^{+}$ and $g_μ$ are expanding and also $g_0^1, g_0^2, g_0^3$ have Ricci solitons. We exhibit among the non-isometric left invariant Lorentz metric on the group $G_4$ only $g_1^λ, g_2^λ$ have Lorentz Ricci solitons and $g_2^λ$ is a shrinking.
We study the evolution of homogeneous Ricci solitons under the bracket flow, a dynamical system on the space of all homogeneous spaces of dimension n with a q-dimensional isotropy, which is equivalent to the Ricci flow for homogeneous manifolds. We prove that algebraic solitons (i.e. the Ricci operator is a multiple of the identity plus a derivation) are precisely the fixed points of the system, and that a homogeneous Ricci soliton is isometric to an algebraic soliton if and only if the corresponding bracket flow solution is not chaotic, in the sense that its omega-limit set consists of a sing…
In this paper, we give a lower bound of Bergman kernels for a sequence of almost Kähler-Einstein Fano manifolds, or more general, a sequence of Fano manifolds with almost Kähler-Ricci solitons. This generalizes a result by Donaldson-Sun, Tian for Kähler-Einstein manifolds sequence with positive scalar curvature. As an application of our result, we prove that the Gromov-Hausdorff limit of sequence is homomorphic to a log terminal $Q$-Fano variety which admits a Kähler-Ricci soliton on its smooth part.
Any expanding homogeneous Ricci soliton (in particular any homogeneous Einstein manifold of negative scalar curvature) can be obtained, up to isometry, from a Lie subgroup of a nilpotent Iwasawa group $N$ whose induced metric is a Ricci soliton. By nilpotent Iwasawa group we mean the nilpotent Lie group $N$ of the Iwasawa decomposition associated with a symmetric space of non-compact type. Motivated by this fact, in this paper we classify codimension one Lie subgroups of any nilpotent Iwasawa group $N$ whose induced metric is a Ricci soliton.
A Lie hypersurface in the complex hyperbolic space is an orbit of a cohomogeneity one action without singular orbit. In this paper, we classify Ricci soliton Lie hypersurfaces in the complex hyperbolic spaces.
In this work we investigate solvable and nilpotent Lie groups with special metrics. The metrics of interest are left-invariant Einstein and algebraic Ricci soliton metrics. Our main result shows that the existence of a such a metric is intrinsic to the underlying Lie algebra. More precisely, we show how one may determine the existence of such a metric by analyzing algebraic properties of the Lie algebra in question and infinitesimal deformations of any initial metric. Our second main result concerns the isometry groups of such distinguished metrics. Among the completely solvable unimodular Lie…
We study the positive Hermitian curvature flow on the space of left-invariant metrics on complex Lie groups. We show that in the nilpotent case, the flow exists for all positive times and subconverges in the Cheeger-Gromov sense to a soliton. We also show convergence to a soliton when the complex Lie group is almost abelian. That is, when its Lie algebra admits a (complex) co-dimension one abelian ideal. Finally, we study solitons in the almost-abelian setting. We prove uniqueness and completely classify all left-invariant, almost-abelian solitons, giving a method to construct examples in arbi…
We consider a modified Ricci flow equation whose stationary solutions include Einstein and Ricci soliton metrics, and we study the linear stability of those solutions relative to the flow. After deriving various criteria that imply linear stability, we turn our attention to left-invariant soliton metrics on (non-compact) simply connected solvable Lie groups and prove linear stability of many such metrics. These include an open set of two-step solvsolitons, all two-step nilsolitons, two infinite families of three-step solvable Einstein metrics, all nilsolitons of dimensions six or less, and all…
Ricci soliton contact metric manifolds with certain nullity conditions have recently been studied by Ghosh and Sharma. Whereas the gradient case is well-understood, they provided a list of candidates for the nongradient case. These candidates can be realized as Lie groups, but one only knows the structures of the underlying Lie algebras, which are hard to be analyzed apart from the three-dimensional case. In this paper, we study these Lie groups with dimension greater than three, and prove that the connected, simply-connected, and complete ones can be realized as homogeneous real hypersurfaces …

This work addresses the questions: (i) Among all left-invariant Riemannian metrics on a given Lie group, is there any whose isometry group or isometry algebra contain that of all others? (ii) Do expanding left-invariant Ricci solitons exhibit such maximal symmetry? Question (i) is addressed both for semisimple and for solvable Lie groups. Building on previous work of the authors on Einstein metrics, a complete answer is given to (ii): expanding homogeneous Ricci solitons have maximal isometry algebras although not always maximal isometry groups. As a consequence of the tools developed to addre…
We consider three- and four-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian generalized symmetric spaces, whose invariant metrics were explicitly described in [15]. While four-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian generalized symmetric spaces of types A, C and D are algebraic Ricci solitons, the ones of type B are not so. The Ricci soliton equation for their metrics yields a system of partial differential equations. Solving such system, we prove that almost all the four-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian generalized symmetric spaces of type B are Ricci solitons. These examples show some deep differences arising for the Ricc…
We study invariant solutions to the Positive Hermitian Curvature Flow, introduced by Ustinovskiy, on complex Lie groups. We show in particular that the canonical scale-static metrics on the special linear groups, arising from the Killing form, are dynamically unstable. This disproves a conjecture of Ustinovskiy. We also construct certain perfect Lie groups that admit at least two distinct invariant solitons for the flow, only one of which is algebraic. This is the second known example of a geometric flow with non-algebraic, homogeneous solitons. The first being the G2-Laplacian flow.
We find explicit solutions of the Laplacian coflow of $G_2-$structures on seven-dimensional almost-abelian Lie groups. Moreover, we construct new examples of solitons for the Laplacian coflow which are not eigenforms of the Laplacian and we exhibit a solution, which is not a soliton, having a bounded interval of existence.
We study three-dimensional generalized Ricci solitons, both in Riemannian and Lorentzian settings. We shall determine their homogeneous models, classifying left-invariant generalized Ricci solitons on three-dimensional Lie groups.
The three-dimensional Heisenberg group $H_3$ has three left-invariant Lorentz metrics $g_1$, $g_2$ and $g_3$. They are not isometric each other. In this paper, we characterize the left-invariant Lorentzian metric $g_1$ as a Lorentz Ricci soliton. This Ricci soliton $g_1$ is a shrinking non-gradient Ricci soliton. Likewise we prove that the isometry group of flat Euclid plane E(2) and the isometry group of flat Lorentz plane E(1,1) have Lorentz Ricci solitons.
We study the positive Hermitian curvature flow of left-invariant metrics on complex 2-step nilpotent Lie groups. In this setting we completely characterize the long-time behaviour of the flow, showing that normalized solutions to the flow subconverge to a non-flat algebraic soliton, in Cheeger- Gromov topology. We also exhibit a uniqueness result for algebraic solitons on such Lie groups.
The two-loop renormalization group flow is studied via the induced bracket flow on 3D unimodular Lie groups. A number of steady solitons are found. Some of these steady solitons come from maximally symmetric metrics that are steady, shrinking, or expanding solitons under Ricci flow, while others are not obviously related to Ricci flow solitons.
We develop a general approach to study geometric flows on homogeneous spaces. Our main tool will be a dynamical system defined on the variety of Lie algebras called the bracket flow, which coincides with the original geometric flow after a natural change of variables. The advantage of using this method relies on the fact that the possible pointed (or Cheeger-Gromov) limits of solutions, as well as self-similar solutions or soliton structures, can be much better visualized. The approach has already been worked out in the Ricci flow case and for general curvature flows of almost-hermitian struct…
We show the existence of expanding solitons of the G$_2$-Laplacian flow on non-solvable Lie groups, and we give the first example of a steady soliton that is not an extremally Ricci pinched G$_2$-structure.
We prove that a $n$-dimensional, $4 \leq n \leq 6$, compact gradient shrinking Ricci soliton satisfying a $L^{n/2}$-pinching condition is isometric to a quotient of the round $\mathbb{S}^{n}$. The proof relies mainly on sharp algebraic curvature estimates, the Yamabe-Sobolev inequality and an improved rigidity result for integral pinched Einstein metrics.
We consider dynamical stability for a modified Ricci flow equation whose stationary solutions include Einstein and Ricci soliton metrics. Our focus is on homogeneous metrics on non-compact manifolds. Following the program of Guenther, Isenberg, and Knopf, we define a class of weighted little Hölder spaces with certain interpolation properties that allow the use of maximal regularity theory and the application of a stability theorem of Simonett. With this, we derive two stability theorems, one for a class of Einstein metrics and one for a class of non-Einstein Ricci solitons. Using linear stabi…
