Let $(W,S)$ be a Coxeter system. A $W$-graph encodes a representation of the Hecke algebra $\mathcal{H}$ of $W$. We construct universal representations of multi-parameter Hecke algebras on certain quotients of path algebras, and study their relationships with $W$-graph representations. We also study the quotients of path algebras on their own, motivated by one example where the quotient path algebra is isomorphic to an ideal of Lusztig asymptotic Hecke algebra. Finally, we describe a method to obtain a generating set for the ideals by which we quotient the path algebras.
Let W be a complex reflection group. We prove that there is the maximal finite dimensional quotient of the Hecke algebra H_q(W) of W and that the dimension of this quotient coincides with |W|. This is a weak version of a Broué-Malle-Rouquier conjecture from 1998. The proof is based on categories O for Rational Cherednik algebras.
After establishing a geometric Schur-Weyl duality in a general setting, we recall this duality in type A in the finite and affine case. We extend the duality in the affine case to positive parts of the affine algebras. The positive parts have nice ideals coming from geometry, allowing duality for quotients. Some of the quotients of the positive affine Hecke algebra are then identified to some cyclotomic Hecke algebras and the geometric setting allows the construction of canonical bases.
The Hecke group algebra $HW_0$ of a finite Coxeter group $W_0$, as introduced by the first and last author, is obtained from $W_0$ by gluing appropriately its 0-Hecke algebra and its group algebra. In this paper, we give an equivalent alternative construction in the case when $W_0$ is the classical Weyl group associated to an affine Weyl group $W$. Namely, we prove that, for $q$ not a root of unity, $HW_0$ is the natural quotient of the affine Hecke algebra through its level 0 representation. We further show that the level 0 representation is a calibrated principal series representation for a …
In this paper, we study the relation between the cocenter and the representation theory of affine Hecke algebras. The approach is based on the interaction between the rigid cocenter, an important subspace of the cocenter, and the dual object in representation theory, the rigid quotient of the Grothendieck group of finite dimensional representations.
We give a Morita equivalence theorem for so-called cyclotomic quotients of affine Hecke algebras of type B and D, in the spirit of a classical result of Dipper-Mathas in type A for Ariki-Koike algebras. As a consequence, the representation theory of affine Hecke algebras of type B and D reduces to the study of their cyclotomic quotients with eigenvalues in a single orbit under multiplication by $q^2$ and inversion. The main step in the proof consists in a decomposition theorem for generalisations of quiver Hecke algebras that appeared recently in the study of affine Hecke algebras of type B an…
Let $n\in\mathbb{N}$ and $K$ be any field. For any symmetric generalized Cartan matrix $A$, any $β$ in the positive root lattice with height $n$ and any integral dominant weight $Λ$, one can associate a quiver Hecke algebras $R_β(K)$ and its cyclotomic quotient $R_β^Λ(K)$ over $K$. It has been conjectured that the natural map from $R_β(K)$ to $R_β^Λ(K)$ maps the center of $R_β(K)$ surjectively onto the center of $R_β^Λ(K)$. A similar conjecture claims that the center of the affine Hecke algebra of type $A$ maps surjectively onto the center of its cyclotomic quotient---the cyclotomic Hecke alge…
We study a class of representations over the degenerate double affine Hecke algebra of gl_n by an algebraic method. As fundamental objects in this class, we introduce certain induced modules and study some of their properties. In particular, it is shown that these induced modules have unique simple quotient modules under certain conditions. Moreover, we show that any simple module in this class is obtained as such a simple quotient, and give a classification of all the simple modules.
Let H be a Hecke algebra arising as an endomorphism algebra of the representation of a Chevalley group G over F_q induced by a unipotent cuspidal representation of a Levi quotient L of a parabolic subgroup. We assume that L is not a torus. In this paper we outline a geometric interpretation of the coefficients of the canonical basis of H in terms of perverse sheaves. We illustrate this in detail in the case where the Weyl group of G is of type B_4 and that of L is of type B_2.
The nonstandard Hecke algebra \check{\mathscr{H}}_r was defined by Mulmuley and Sohoni to study the Kronecker problem. We study a quotient \check{\mathscr{H}}_{r,2} of \check{\mathscr{H}}_r, called the nonstandard Temperley-Lieb algebra, which is a subalgebra of the symmetric square of the Temperley-Lieb algebra TL_r. We give a complete description of its irreducible representations. We find that the restriction of an \check{\mathscr{H}}_{r,2}-irreducible to \check{\mathscr{H}}_{r-1,2} is multiplicity-free, and as a consequence, any \check{\mathscr{H}}_{r,2}-irreducible has a seminormal basis …
We show that any Abelian module category over the (degenerate or quantum) Heisenberg category satisfying suitable finiteness conditions may be viewed as a 2-representation over a corresponding Kac-Moody 2-category (and vice versa). This gives a way to construct Kac-Moody actions in many representation-theoretic examples which is independent of Rouquier's original approach via `control by K_0.' As an application, we prove an isomorphism theorem for generalized cyclotomic quotients of these categories, extending the known isomorphism between cyclotomic quotients of type A affine Hecke algebras a…
The Iwahori-Hecke algebra of the symmetric group is the convolution algebra of $\gl_n$-invariant functions on the variety of pairs of complete flags over a finite field. Considering convolution on the space of triples of two flags and a vector we obtain the mirabolic Hecke algebra $R_n$, which had originally been described by Solomon. In this paper we give a new presentation for $R_n$ which shows that it is a quotient of a cyclotomic Hecke algebra, as defined by Ariki and Koike. From this we recover the results of Siegel about the representations of $R_n$. We use Jucys-Murphy elements to descr…
Ginzburg, Guay, Opdam and Rouquier established an equivalence of categories between a quotient category of the category $\mathcal{O}$ for the rational Cherednik algebra and the category of finite dimension modules of the Hecke algebra of a complex reflection group $W$. We establish two generalizations of this result. On the one hand to the extension of the Hecke algebra associated to the normaliser of a reflection subgroup and on the other hand to the extension of the Hecke algebra by a lattice.
We introduce a path-theoretic framework for understanding the representation theory of (quantum) symmetric and general linear groups and their higher level generalisations over fields of arbitrary characteristic. Our first main result is a "super-strong linkage principle" which provides degree-wise upper bounds for graded decomposition numbers (this is new even in the case of symmetric groups). Next, we generalise the notion of homomorphisms between Weyl/Specht modules which are "generically" placed (within the associated alcove geometries) to cyclotomic Hecke and diagrammatic Cherednik algebr…
For a $p$-adic field $F$, the space of pro-$p$-Iwahori invariants of a universal supersingular mod $p$ representation $τ$ of ${\rm GL}_2(F)$ is determined in the works of Breuil, Schein, and Hendel. The representation $τ$ is introduced by Barthel and Livné and this is defined in terms of the spherical Hecke operator. In earlier work of Anandavardhanan-Borisagar, an Iwahori-Hecke approach was introduced to study these universal supersingular representations in which they can be characterized via the Iwahori-Hecke operators. In this paper, we construct a certain quotient $π$ of $τ$, making use o…
We construct natural representations of the Connes-Kreimer Lie algebras on rooted trees/Feynman graphs arising from Hecke correspondences in the categories $\LRF, \LFG$ constructed by K. Kremnizer and the author. We thus obtain the insertion/elimination representations constructed by Connes-Kreimer as well as an isomorphic pair we term top-insertion/top-elimination. We also construct graded finite-dimensional sub/quotient representations of these arising from "truncated" correspondences.
We establish a q-generalization of Gordon's theorem that the space of diagonal coinvariants has a quotient identified with a perfect representation of the rational double affine Hecke algebra. It leads to a simple proof of his theorem and relates it to the Weyl algebras at roots of unity. The universal double affine Hecke algebra and the corresponding universal double Dunkl operators acting in noncommutative polynomials in terms of two sets of variables are introduced.
We formalize some known categorical equivalences to give a rigorous treatment of smooth representations of p-adic general linear groups, as ungraded modules over quiver Hecke algebras of type A. Graded variants of RSK-standard modules are constructed for quiver Hecke algebras. Exporting recent results from the p-adic setting, we describe an effective method for construction and classification of all simple modules as quotients of modules induced from maximal homogenous data. It is established that the products involved in the RSK construction fit the Kashiwara-Kim notion of normal sequences of…
We prove that the quotient of the group algebra of the braid group on 5 strands by a generic cubic relation has finite rank. This was conjectured in 1998 by Broué, Malle and Rouquier and has for consequence that this algebra is a flat deformation of the group algebra of the complex reflection group $G_{32}$, of order 155,520.
We prove that the quotient of the polynomial representation of the double affine Hecke algebra (DAHA) by the radical of the duality pairing is always irreducible assuming that it is finite dimensional (apart from the roots of unity). We also find necessary and sufficient conditions for the radical to be zero, which is a q-generalization of Opdam's formula for the singular k-parameters with the multiple zero-eigenvalues of the corresponding Dunkl operators.
Let $\ell\in\mathbb{N}$ with $\ell>2$ and $I:=\mathbb{Z}/2\ell\mathbb{Z}$. In this paper we give a new realization of the crystal of affine $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_{\ell}$ using the modular representation theory of the affine Hecke algebras $H_n$ of type $A$ and their level two cyclotomic quotients with Hecke parameter being a primitive $2\ell$th root of unity. We realized the Kashiwara operators for the crystal as the functors of taking socle of certain two-steps restriction and of taking head of certain two-steps induction. For any finite dimensional irreducible $H_n$-module $M$, we prove t…
We show that the quiver Hecke superalgebras and their cyclotomic quotients provide a supercategorification of quantum Kac-Moody algebras and their integrable highest weight modules.
We relate completions of infinitesimal Hecke algebras of sl2 to noncommutative deformations of Kleinian singularities of type D of Crawley-Boevey and Holland. As a consequence, we show an analogue of the inequality of Bernstein and simplicity of generic maximal primitive quotients of these algebras. We also establish Skryabin type equivalence for these algebras.
This paper studies the seminormal bases $\{f_{\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{t}}\}$ and the dual seminormal bases $\{g_{\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{t}}\}$ of the non-degenerate and the degenerate cyclotomic Hecke algebras ${H}_{\ell,n}$ of type $G(\ell,1,n)$. We present some explicit formulae for the constants $α_{\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{t}}:=g_{\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{t}}/f_{\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{t}}\in K^\times$ in terms of the $γ$-coefficients $\{γ_{\mathfrak{u}}, γ'_{\mathfrak{u}}\}$ of $H_{\ell,n}$. In particular, we answer a question of Mathas on the rationality of square roots of some quotients of product…
Let $H$ be the Iwahori-Hecke algebra and let $J$ be Lusztig's asymptotic Hecke algebra, both specialized to type $\tilde{A}_1$. For $\mathrm{SL}_2$, when the parameter $q$ is specialized to a prime power, Braverman and Kazhdan showed recently that a completion of $H$ has codimension two as a subalgebra of a completion of $J$, and described a basis for the quotient in spectral terms. In this note we write these functions explicitly in terms of the basis $\{t_w\}$ of $J$, and further invert the canonical isomorphism between the completions of $H$ and $J$, obtaining explicit formulas for the each…
We recast the classical notion of standard tableaux in an alcove-geometric setting and extend these classical ideas to all reduced paths in our geometry. This broader path-perspective is essential for implementing the higher categorical ideas of Elias--Williamson in the setting of quiver Hecke algebras. Our first main result is the construction of light leaves bases of quiver Hecke algebras. These bases are richer and encode more structural information than their classical counterparts, even in the case of the symmetric groups. Our second main result provides path-theoretic generators for the …
Masures (previously also known as hovels) are a generalization of the theory of affine buildings for arbitrary $p$-adic Kac-Moody groups. Gaussent and Rousseau invented masures to compute the Satake transform for $p$-adic Kac-Moody groups. Their answer is given as a sum over Hecke paths, which are certain piecewise linear paths. Guided by their method we give a definition of double affine Kazhdan-Lusztig $R$-polynomials as a sum over piecewise linear paths that we call $I_\infty$-Hecke paths. Remarkably, the notion of $I_\infty$-Hecke path, which arises from masure theoretic considerations, is…
This article develops an alcove geometric approach to the representation theory of certain affine Hecke algebra quotients generalizing the blob algebra; and gives an exposition of some new representations of these algebras.
We determine the representations of the Yokonuma-Temperley-Lieb algebra, which is defined as a quotient of the Yokonuma-Hecke algebra by generalising the construction of the classical Temperley-Lieb algebra.
Let H = H (R,q) be an affine Hecke algebra with complex, possibly unequal parameters q, which are not roots of unity. We compute the Hochschild and the cyclic homology of H. It turns out that these are independent of q and that they admit an easy description in terms of the extended quotient of a torus by a Weyl group, both of which are canonically associated to the root datum R. For q positive we also prove that the representations of the family of algebras H (R,q^ε) come in families which depend analytically on the complex number ε. Analogous results are obtained for graded Hecke algebras an…
We define the singular Hecke algebra ${\mathcal H} (SB_n)$ as the quotient of the singular braid monoid algebra ${\mathbb C} (q) [SB_n]$ by the Hecke relations $σ_k^2 = (q-1) σ_k +q$, $1 \le k\le n-1$, and define the Markov traces on the sequence $\{{\mathcal H}(SB_n)\}_{n=1}^{+\infty}$ in the same way as for the Markov traces on the tower of (non-singular) Hecke algebras of the symmetric groups. We prove that the Markov traces are in one-to-one correspondance with the invariants that satisfies some skein relation, and compute an explicit classification of the Markov traces. Thanks to this cla…
We prove that the quotients of the group algebra of the braid group on 3 strands by a generic quartic and quintic relation respectively, have finite rank. This is a special case of a conjecture by Broué, Malle and Rouquier for the generic Hecke algebra of an arbitrary complex reflection group. Exploring the consequences of this case, we will prove that we can determine completely the irreducible representations of this braid group for dimension at most 5, thus reproving a classification of Tuba and Wenzl in a more general framework.
Chinta and Gunnells introduced a rather intricate multi-parameter Weyl group action on rational functions on a torus, which, when the parameters are specialized to certain Gauss sums, describes the functional equations of Weyl group multiple Dirichlet series associated to metaplectic (n-fold) covers of algebraic groups. In subsequent joint work with Puskas, they extended this action to a "metaplectic" representation of the equal parameter affine Hecke algebra, which allowed them to obtain explicit formulas for the p-parts of these Dirichlet series. They have also verified by a computer check t…
This paper makes precise the close connection between the affine Hecke algebra, the path model, and the theory of crystals. Section 2 is a basic pictorial exposition of Weyl groups and affine Weyl groups and Section 5 is an exposition of the theory of (a) symmetric functions, (b) crystals and (c) the path model. Sections 3 and 4 give an exposition of the affine Hecke algebra and recent results regarding the combinatorics of spherical functions on p-adic groups (Hall-Littlewood polynomials). The $q$-analogue of the theory of crystals developed in Section 4 specializes to the path model version …
The monoidal category of Soergel bimodules categorifies the Hecke algebra of a finite Weyl group. In the case of the symmetric group, morphisms in this category can be drawn as graphs in the plane. We define a quotient category, also given in terms of planar graphs, which categorifies the Temperley-Lieb algebra. Certain ideals appearing in this quotient are related both to the 1-skeleton of the Coxeter complex and to the topology of 2D cobordisms. We demonstrate how further subquotients of this category will categorify the cell modules of the Temperley-Lieb algebra.
We study a quotient of the group algebra of the braid group in which the Artin generators satisfy a cubic relation. This quotient is maximal among the ones satisfying such a cubic relation. It is finite-dimensional for at least n at most 5 and we investigate its module structure in this range. We also investigate the proper quotients of it that appear in the realm of quantum groups, and describe another maximal quotient related to the usual Hecke algebras. Finally, we describe the connection between this algebra and a quotient of the algebra of horizontal chord diagrams introduced by Vogel. We…
In this paper, we define a quotient of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra of type $G(r,1,n)$ as a generalisation of the Temperley-Lieb algebras of type $A$ and $B$. We establish a graded cellular structure for the generalised Temperley-Lieb algebra and, using the technology of $KLR$ algebras, determine the corresponding decomposition matrix.
We determine the representations of the Yokonuma-Temperley-Lieb algebra, which is defined as a quotient of the Yokonuma-Hecke algebra by generalising the construction of the classical Temperley-Lieb algebra. We then deduce the dimension of this algebra, and produce an explicit basis for it.
We study the structure and representation theory of affine wreath product algebras and their cyclotomic quotients. These algebras, which appear naturally in Heisenberg categorification, simultaneously unify and generalize many important algebras appearing in the literature. In particular, special cases include degenerate affine Hecke algebras, affine Sergeev algebras (degenerate affine Hecke-Clifford algebras), and wreath Hecke algebras. In some cases, specializing the results of the current paper recovers known results, but with unified and simplified proofs. In other cases, we obtain new res…
The following thesis contains results on the combinatorial representation theory of the finite Hecke algebra $H_n(q)$. In Chapter 2 simple combinatorial descriptions are given which determine when a Specht module corresponding to a partition $λ$ is irreducible. This is done by extending the results of James and Mathas. These descriptions depend on the crystal of the basic representation of the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_\ell}$. In Chapter 3 these results are extended to determine which irreducible modules have a realization as a Specht module. To do this, a new condition of irr…
In this paper we define a two-variable, generic Hecke algebra, H, for each complex reflection group G(b,1,n). The algebra H specializes to the group algebra of G(b,1,n) and also to an endomorphism algebra of a representation of GL(n,q) induced from a solvable subgroup. We construct Kazhdan-Lusztig "R-polynomials" for H and show that they may be used to define a partial order on G(b,1,n). Using a generalization of Deodhar's notion of distinguished subexpressions we give a closed formula for the R-polynomials. After passing to a one-variable quotient of the ring of scalars, we construct Kazhdan-…
In this paper we show that the lowest two-sided ideal of an affine Hecke algebra is affine cellular for all choices of parameters. We explicitely describe the cellular basis and we show that the basis elements have a nice decomposition when expressed in the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis. In type $A$ we provide a combinatorial description of this decomposition in term of number of paths.
