In this paper, an estimation of lower bound of topological entropy for coupled-expanding systems associated with transition matrices in compact Hausdorff spaces is given. Estimations of upper and lower bounds of topological entropy for systems in compact metric spaces are obtained by their topological equi-semiconjugacy to subshifts of finite type under certain conditions.
In this paper we study topological entropy and recurrence properties of non-autonomous dynamical system generated by a family of continuous self maps on a compact space X. Specially, we introduce the pseudo-entropy and periodic-pseudo-entropy and prove their equivalence with the topological entropy for non-autonomous dynamical systems.
Ovadia and Rodriguez-Hertz (Neutralized local entropy, arXiv:2302.10874) defined the neutralized Bowen open ball for an autonomous dynamical system on a compact metric space. Replacing the usual Bowen open ball with neutralized Bowen open ball, we introduce the notions of neutralized Bowen topological entropy of subsets, neutralized weighted Bowen topological entropy of subsets, lower neutralized Brin-Katok's local entropy of Borel probability measures, and neutralized Katok's entropy of Borel probability measures for a non-autonomous dynamical system on a compact metric space. Then, we establ…
This paper discusses the variational principles on subsets for topological pressure and topological entropy of non-autonomous dynamical systems. We define the Pesin-Pitskel topological pressure (weighted topological pressure) and the Bowen topological entropy (weighted Bowen topological entropy) for any subset. Also, we define the measure-theoretic pressure and the measure-theoretic lower entropy for all Borel probability measures. Then, we prove variational principles for topological pressure (topological entropy) which links the Pesin-Pitskel topological pressure (weighted topological pressu…
In this paper, we study continuum-wise expansive non-autonomous discrete dynamical systems. We discuss various properties of such non-autonomous systems. We further obtain results for cw-expansive non-autonomous systems with shadowing property and obtain an important equivalence. \keywords{Non-autonomous dynamical systems, continuum-wise expansive, shadowing property
This paper is concerned with relationships of Lyapunov exponents with sensitivity and stability for non-autonomous discrete systems. Some new concepts are introduced for non-autonomous discrete systems, including Lyapunov exponents, strong sensitivity at a point and in a set, Lyapunov stability, and exponential asymptotical stability. It is shown that the positive Lyapunov exponent at a point implies strong sensitivity for a class of non-autonomous discrete systems. Furthermore, the uniformly positive Lyapunov exponents in a totally invariant set imply strong sensitivity in this set under cert…
This paper is concerned with relationships of weakly mixing, topologically weakly mixing, and sensitivity for non-autonomous discrete systems. It is shown that weakly mixing implies topologically weakly mixing and sensitivity for measurable systems with a fully supported measure; and topological weakly mixing implies sensitivity for general dynamical systems. However, the inverse conclusions are not true and some counterexamples are given. The related existing results for autonomous discrete systems are generalized to non-autonomous discrete systems and their conditions are weaken.
This paper establishes some criteria of chaos in non-autonomous discrete systems. Several criteria of strong Li-Yorke chaos are given. Based on these results, some criteria of distributional chaos in a sequence are established. Moreover, several criteria of distributional chaos induced by coupled-expansion for an irreducible transition matrix are obtained. Some of these results not only extend the existing related results for autonomous discrete systems to non-autonomous discrete systems, but also relax the assumptions of the counterparts. One example is provided for illustration.
Let $M$ be a compact Riemannian manifold. The set $\text{F}^{r}(M)$ consisting of sequences $(f_{i})_{i\in\mathbb{Z}}$ of $C^{r}$-diffeomorphisms on $M$ can be endowed with the compact topology or with the strong topology. A notion of topological entropy is given for these sequences. I will prove this entropy is discontinuous at each sequence if we consider the compact topology on $\text{F}^{r}(M)$. On the other hand, if $ r\geq 1$ and we consider the strong topology on $\text{F}^{r}(M)$, this entropy is a continuous map.
For some one-dimensional discrete-time autonomous population models, local stability implies global stability of the positive equilibrismo point. One of the known techniques is the enveloping method. In this paper we extend the enveloping method to one single periodic population models. We show that, under certain conditions, "individual enveloping" implies "periodic enveloping" in one-dimensional periodic population models.
In this paper we introduce the notions of topological entropy and topological pressure for non-autonomous iterated function systems (or NAIFSs for short) on countably infinite alphabets. NAIFSs differ from the usual (autonomous) iterated function systems, they are given \cite{LGMU} by a sequence of collections of continuous maps on a compact topological space, where maps are allowed to vary between iterations. Several basic properties of topological pressure and topological entropy of NAIFSs are provided. Especially, we generalize the classical Bowen's result to NAIFSs ensures that the topolog…
In this paper, the interrelations of some dynamical properties of the non-autonomous dynamical system (X, f1;infinity) and its induced non-autonomous dynamical system (K(X), f1;infinity) are studied, where K(X) is the hyperspace of all non-empty compact subsets of X, endowed with Vietoris topology. Various stronger forms of sensitivity and transitivity are considered. Some examples of non-autonomous systems are provided to support the results. A relation between shadowing property of the non- autonomous system (X, f1;infinity) and its induced system (K(X), f1;infinity) is studied.
We study the ergodicity of non-autonomous discrete dynamical systems with non-uniform expansion. As an application we get that any uniformly expanding finitely generated semigroup action of $C^{1+α}$ local diffeomorphisms of a compact manifold is ergodic with respect to the Lebesgue measure. Moreover, we will also prove that every exact non-uniform expandable finitely generated semigroup action of conformal $C^{1+α}$ local diffeomorphisms of a compact manifold is Lebesgue ergodic.
This paper is concerned with Devaney chaos in non-autonomous discrete systems. It is shown that in its definition, the two former conditions, i.e., transitivity and density of periodic points, in a set imply the last one, i.e., sensitivity, in the case that the set is unbounded, while a similar result holds under two additional conditions in the other case that the set is bounded. Furthermore, some chaotic behavior is studied for a class of non-autonomous systems, each of which is governed by a convergent sequence of continuous maps.
In this paper notions of strong specification property and quasi-weak specification property for non-autonomous discrete systems are introduced and studied. It is shown that these properties are dynamical properties and are preserved under finite product. It is proved that a k-periodic non-autonomous system on intervals having weak specification is Devaney chaotic whereas if the system has strong specification then the result is true in general. Specification properties of induced systems on hyperspaces and probability measures spaces are also studied. Examples/counter examples are provided wh…
A family of discrete non-autonomous SIRVS models with general incidence is obtained from a continuous family of models by applying Mickens non-standard discretization method. Conditions for the permanence and extinction of the disease and the stability of disease-free solutions are determined. The consistency of those discrete models with the corresponding continuous model is discussed: if the time step is sufficiently small, when we have extinction (respectively permanence) for the continuous model we also have extinction (respectively permanence) for the corresponding discrete model. Some nu…
This paper studies distributional chaos in non-autonomous discrete systems generated by given sequences of maps in metric spaces. In the case that the metric space is compact, it is shown that a system is Li-Yorkeδ-chaotic if and only if it is distributionallyδ'-chaotic in a sequence; and three criteria of distributional δ-chaos are established, which are caused by topologically weak mixing, asymptotic average shadowing property, and some expanding condition, respectively, where δ and δ' are positive constants. In a general case, a criterion of distributional chaos in a sequence induced by a X…
Let $Σ$ be a surface equipped with an area form. There is an long standing open question by Katok, which, in particular, asks whether every entropy-zero Hamiltonian diffeomorphism of a surface lies in the $C^0$-closure of the set of integrable diffeomorphisms. A slightly weaker version of this question asks: ``Does every entropy-zero Hamiltonian diffeomorphism of a surface lie in the $C^0$-closure of the set of autonomous diffeomorphisms?'' In this paper we answer in negative the later question. In particular, we show that on a surface $Σ$ the set of autonomous Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms is n…
In this paper, we investigate the dynamics on the hyperspace induced by a non-autonomous dynamical system $(X,\mathbb{F})$, where the non-autonomous system is generated by a sequence $(f_n)$ of continuous self maps on $X$. We relate the dynamical behavior of the induced system on the hyperspace with the dynamical behavior of the original system $(X,\mathbb{F})$. We derive conditions under which the dynamical behavior of the non-autonomous system extends to its induced counterpart(and vice-versa). In the process, we discuss properties like transitivity, weak mixing, topological mixing, topologi…

Let $f_{0,\infty}=\{f_n\}_{n=0}^{\infty}$ be a sequence of continuous self-maps on a compact metric space $X$. The non-autonomous dynamical system $(X,f_{0,\infty})$ induces the set-valued system $(\mathcal{K}(X), \bar{f}_{0,\infty})$ and the fuzzified system $(\mathcal{F}(X),\tilde{f}_{0,\infty})$. We prove that under some natural conditions, positive topological entropy of $(X,f_{0,\infty})$ implies infinite entropy of $(\mathcal{K}(X),\bar{f}_{0,\infty})$ and $(\mathcal{F}(X),\tilde{f}_{0,\infty})$, respectively; and zero entropy of $(S^1,f_{0,\infty})$ implies zero entropy of some invarian…
In the study of aperiodic order via dynamical methods, topological entropy is an important concept. In this paper, parts of the theory, like Bowen's formula for fibre wise entropy or the independence of the definition from the choice of a Van Hove sequence, are extended to actions of several non-discrete groups. To establish these results, we will show that the Ornstein-Weiss lemma is valid for all considered groups which appear in the study of cut and project schemes.
In this paper, we study dynamics of maps on quasi-graphs characterizing their invariant measures. In particular, we prove that every invariant measure of quasi-graph map with zero topological entropy has discrete spectrum. Additionally, we obtain an analog of Llibre-Misiurewicz's result relating positive topological entropy with existence of topological horseshoes. We also study dynamics on dendrites and show that if a continuous map on a dendrite, whose set of all endpoints is closed and has only finitely many accumulation points, has zero topological entropy, then every invariant measure sup…
We construct a family of polynomials with real coefficients that contains as a particular case the Fejér and Suffridge polynomials. These polynomials allow us to suggest a robust algorithm to search for cycles of arbitrary length in non-linear autonomous discrete dynamical systems. Numeric examples are included.
This paper establishes topological (equi-)semiconjugacy and (equi-)conjugacy between induced non-autonomous set-valued systems and subshifts of finite type. First, some necessary and sufficient conditions are given for a non-autonomous discrete system to be topologically semiconjugate or conjugate to a subshift of finite type. Further, several sufficient conditions for it to be topologically equi-semiconjugate or equi-conjugate to a subshift of finite type are obtained. Consequently, estimations of topological entropy and several criteria of Li-Yorke chaos and distributional chaos in a sequenc…
The notion of $Δ$-weakly mixing subsets is introduced for countable torsion-free discrete group actions. It is shown that for a finitely generated torsion-free discrete nilpotent group action, positive topological entropy implies the existence of $Δ$-weakly mixing subsets, and while there exists a finitely generated torsion-free discrete solvable group action which has positive topological entropy but without any $Δ$-weakly mixing subsets.

In this paper we study the dynamics of a general non-autonomous dynamical system generated by a family of continuous self maps on a compact space $X$. We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the system to exhibit complex dynamical behavior. In the process we discuss properties like transitivity, weakly mixing, topologically mixing, minimality, sensitivity, topological entropy and Li-Yorke chaoticity for the non-autonomous system. We also give examples to prove that the dynamical behavior of the non-autonomous system in general cannot be characterized in terms of the dynamical behavio…
In this paper, we define and study generalizations of expansiveness, namely n- expansiveness, $\aleph_0$-expansiveness, continuum-wise expansive and meagre expansiveness for non-autonomous discrete dynamical systems. We discuss various properties of such non-autonomous systems and give necessary examples. We prove results related to non-existence of $\aleph_0$-expansive and meagre expansive non-autonomous system on certain spaces. We also study relation between $\aleph_0$-expansive and meagre-expansive non-autonomous systems.
In [1] it is shown that recurrent neural networks (RNNs) can learn - in a metric entropy optimal manner - discrete time, linear time-invariant (LTI) systems. This is effected by comparing the number of bits needed to encode the approximating RNN to the metric entropy of the class of LTI systems under consideration [2, 3]. The purpose of this note is to provide an elementary self-contained proof of the metric entropy results in [2, 3], in the process of which minor mathematical issues appearing in [2, 3] are cleaned up. These corrections also lead to the correction of a constant in a result in …
Consider a symplectic surface $Σ$ with two properly embedded Hamiltonian isotopic curves $L$ and $L'$. Suppose $g \in Ham (Σ)$ is a Hamiltonian diffeomorphism which sends $L$ to $L'$. Which dynamical properties of $g$ can be detected by the pair $(L, L')$? We discuss two cases where one can deduce that $g$ is `chaotic': non-autonomous or even of positive entropy.
We study doubly stochastic operators with zero entropy. We generalize three famous theorems: the Rokhlin's theorem on genericity of zero entropy, the Kushnirenko's theorem on equivalence of discrete spectrum and nullity and the Halmos-von Neumann's theorem on representation of maps with discrete spectrum as group rotations.

We introduce the algebraic entropy for continuous endomorphisms of locally linearly compact vector spaces over a discrete field, as the natural extension of the algebraic entropy for endomorphisms of discrete vector spaces. We show that the main properties of entropy continue to hold in the general context of locally linearly compact vector spaces, in particular we extend the Addition Theorem.
