We study the uniqueness in the path-by-path sense (i.e. $ω$-by-$ω$) of solutions to stochastic differential equations with additive noise and non-Lipschitz autonomous drift. The notion of path-by-path solution involves considering a collection of ordinary differential equations and is, in principle, weaker than that of a strong solution, since no adaptability condition is required. We use results and ideas from the classical theory of ode's, together with probabilistic tools like Girsanov's theorem, to establish the uniqueness property for some classes of noises, including Brownian motion, and some drift functions not necessarily bounded nor continuous.
In this paper, we show the strong well-posedness of Mckean-Vlasov SDEs with non-Lipschitz coefficients. Moreover, propagation of chaos and the convergence rate for Euler's scheme of Mckean-Vlasov SDEs are also obtained.
In this work we prove the existence of a smooth density for the solution to an SDE with locally Lipschitz and semimonotone drift, and will derive an exponential decay for this density and all of its derivatives as well. Our main tool in this paper is an integration by parts formula for the solution of the mentioned SDE in the Wiener space. We construct an approximating sequence of SDEs with globally Lipschitz drifts and obtain a uniform bound for the integral of their solutions from which we derive the exponential decay for the derivatives of the density of the original SDE.
In this paper the existence of a smooth density is proved for the solution of an SDE, with locally Lipschitz coefficients and semi-monotone drift, under Hörmander condition. We prove the nondegeneracy condition for the solution of the SDE, from it an integration by parts formula would result in the Wiener space. To this end we construct a sequence of SDEs with globally Lipschitz coefficients whose solutions converge to the original one and use some Lyapunov functions to show the uniformly boundedness of the p-moments of the solutions and their Malliavin derivatives.
One proves the uniqueness of distributional solutions to nonlinear Fokker--Planck equations with monotone diffusion term and derive as a consequence (restricted) uniqueness in law for the corresponding McKean--Vlasov stochastic differential equation (SDE).
In this paper we show irreducibility and the strong Feller property for transition probabilities of stochastic differential equations with jumps and monotone coefficients. Thus, exponential ergodicity and the spectral gap for the corresponding transition semigroups are obtained.
Firstly, we investigate Euler-Maruyama approximation for solutions of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) driven by a symmetric α stable process under Komatsu condition for coefficients. The approximation implies naturally the existence of strong solutions. Secondly, we study the stability of solutions under Komatsu condition, and also discuss it under Belfadli-Ouknine condition.
Here we study stochastic differential equations with a reflecting boundary condition. We provide sufficient conditions for pathwise uniqueness and non-explosion property of solutions in a framework admitting non-Lipschitz continuous coefficients and non-smooth domains.
A new proof of pathwise uniqueness for SDEs with Sobolev diffusion and integrable drift term is introduced by extending a method from E. Fedrizzi and F. Flandoli (Pathwise uniqueness and continuous dependence of SDEs with non-regular drift, Stochastics 83 (2011), pp. 241--257) to the case of nonconstant diffusion.
By using a classical truncated argument and introducing the local Wasserstein distance, the global existence and uniqueness are proved for the distribution dependent SDEs with local Lipschitz coefficients. Due to the measure dependence, the conditions in the sense of pointwise for classical cases can be simplified to the conditions in the sense of integral. On the basis of the well-posedness, we prove the $r$-th moment exponential stability using the measure dependent Lyapunov functions and the existence and uniqueness of invariant probability measure is studied under the integrated strong mon…
We prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions of SDEs with Lipschitz coefficients, driven by continuous, model-free martingales. The main tool in our reasoning is Picard's iterative procedure and a model-free version of the Burkholder-Davis-Gundy inequality for integrals driven by model-free, continuous martingales. We work with a new outer measure which assigns zero value exactly to those properties which are instantly blockable.
We extend some methods developed by Albeverio, Brzeźniak and Wu and we show how to apply them in order to prove existence of global strong solutions of stochastic differential equations with jumps, under a local one-sided Lipschitz condition on the drift (also known as a monotonicity condition) and a local Lipschitz condition on the diffusion and jump coefficients, while an additional global one-sided linear growth assumption is satisfied. Then we use these methods to prove existence of invariant measures for a broad class of such equations.
In this paper we review and improve pathwise uniqueness results for some types of one-dimensional stochastic differential equations (SDE) involving the local time of the unknown process. The diffusion coefficient of the SDEs we consider is allowed to vanish on a set of positive measure and is not assumed to be smooth. As opposed to various existing results, our arguments are mainly based on the comparison theorem for local time and the occupation time formula. We apply our pathwise uniqueness results to derive strong existence and other properties of solutions for SDEs with rough coefficients.
Localized sufficient conditions for the large deviation principle of the given stochastic differential equations will be presented for stochastic differential equations with non-Lipschitzian and time-inhomogeneous coefficients, which is weaker than those relevant conditions existing in the literature. We consider at first the large deviation principle when $\int_0^t\sup_{x\in\mathbb{R}^d}||σ(s,x)||\vee|b(s,x)|ds=:C_t<\infty$ for any fixed $t$, then we generalize the conclusion to unbounded case by using bounded approximation program.
In this work we prove Malliavin differentiability for the solution to an SDE with locally Lipschitz and semi-monotone drift. To this end we construct a sequence of SDEs with globally Lipschitz drifts. We show that the solutions of these SDEs converge to the solution of the original SDE and the p-moments of their Malliavin derivatives are uniformly bounded.
We investigate the regularizing effect of certain additive continuous perturbations on SDEs with multiplicative fractional Brownian motion (fBm). Traditionally, a Lipschitz requirement on the drift and diffusion coefficients is imposed to ensure existence and uniqueness of the SDE. We show that suitable perturbations restore existence, uniqueness and regularity of the flow for the resulting equation, even when both the drift and the diffusion coefficients are distributional, thus extending the program of regularization by noise to the case of multiplicative SDEs. Our method relies on a combina…
In this paper, we investigate stochastic differential equations(SDEs) driven by a class of supercritical $α$-stable process(including the rotational symmetric $α-$stable process) with drift $b$. The weak well-posedness is proved, provided that the $(1-α)$-Hölder semi-norm of $b$ is sufficient small.
In the recent article [A. Jentzen, B. Kuckuck, T. Müller-Gronbach, and L. Yaroslavtseva, arXiv:1904.05963 (2019)] it has been proved that the solutions to every additive noise driven stochastic differential equation (SDE) which has a drift coefficient function with at most polynomially growing first order partial derivatives and which admits a Lyapunov-type condition (ensuring the the existence of a unique solution to the SDE) depend in a logarithmically Hölder continuous way on their initial values. One might then wonder whether this result can be sharpened and whether in fact, SDEs from this…
For $α\in (0,1)$, we consider stochastic differential equations driven by one-sided stable processes of order $α$: \[dX_t= ϕ(X_{t-})\ dZ_t.\] We prove that pathwise uniqueness holds for this equation under the assumptions that $ϕ$ is continuous, non-decreasing and positive on $\R$. A counterexample is given to show that the positivity of $ϕ$ is crucial for pathwise uniqueness to hold.
We study a class of self-similar jump type SDEs driven by Hölder-continuous drift and noise coefficients. Using the Lamperti transformation for positive self-similar Markov processes we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for almost sure extinction in finite time. We then show that for certain parameters pathwise uniqueness holds in a restricted sense, namely among solutions spending a Lebesgue-negligible amount of time at 0. A direct power transformation plays a key role.
We prove uniqueness in law for a class of parabolic stochastic partial differential equations in an interval driven by a functional A(u) of the temperature u times a space-time white noise. The functional A(u) is Hölder continuous in u of order greater than 1/2. Our method involves looking at an associated system of infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equations and we obtain a uniqueness result for such systems.
We introduce the notion of stochastic logarithmic Lipschitz constants and use these constants to characterize stochastic contractivity of Itô stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with multiplicative noise. We find an upper bound for stochastic logarithmic Lipschitz constants based on known logarithmic norms (matrix measures) of the Jacobian of the drift and diffusion terms of the SDEs. We discuss noise-induced contractivity in SDEs and common noise-induced synchronization in network of SDEs and illustrate the theoretical results on a noisy Van der Pol oscillator. We show that a determinist…
We obtain sufficient condition for SDEs to evolve in the positive orthant. We use comparison theorem arguments to achieve this. As a result we prove the existence of a unique strong solution for a class of multidimensional degenerate SDEs with non-Lipschitz diffusion coefficients.
A new proof of a pathwise uniqueness result of Krylov and Röckner is given. It concerns SDEs with drift having only certain integrability properties. In spite of the poor regularity of the drift, pathwise continuous dependence on initial conditions may be obtained, by means of this new proof. The proof is formulated in such a way to show that the only major tool is a good regularity theory for the heat equation forced by a function with the same regularity of the drift.
By using the coupling argument, we establish the Harnack and log-Harnack inequalites for stochastic differential equations with non-Lipschitz drifts and driven by additive anisotropic subordinated Brownian motions (in particular, cylindrical $α$-stable processes). Moreover, the gradient estimate is also derived when the drift is Lipschitz continuous.
For an SDE driven by a rotationally invariant $α$-stable noise we prove weak uniqueness of the solution under the balance condition $α+γ>1$, where $γ$ denotes the Holder index of the drift coefficient. We prove existence and continuity of the transition probability density of the corresponding Markov process and give a representation of this density with an explicitly given "principal part", and a "residual part" which possesses an upper bound. Similar representation is also provided for the derivative of the transition probability density w.r.t. the time variable.
The existence of stationary distributions to distribution dependent stochastic differential equations are investigated by using the ergodicity of the associated decoupled equation and the Schauder fixed point theorem. By using Zvonkin's transformation, we also establish the existence result for equations with singular coefficients. Instead of the uniqueness, the non-uniqueness of stationary distributions are considered for equations with regular coefficients. Concrete examples including McKean-Vlasov stochastic equations with the quadratic interaction and the non-quadratic interaction, and equ…
In this paper we study jump-diffusion stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with a discontinuous drift coefficient and a possibly degenerate diffusion coefficient. Such SDEs appear in applications such as optimal control problems in energy markets. We prove existence and uniqueness of strong solutions. In addition we study the strong convergence order of the Euler-Maruyama scheme and recover the optimal rate $1/2$.
Our aim in this paper is to establish some strong stability properties of a solution of a stochastic differential equation driven by a fractional Brownian motion for which the pathwise uniqueness holds. The results are obtained using Skorokhod's selection theorem.
Existence, uniqueness, and $L_p$-approximation results are presented for scalar stochastic differential equations (SDEs) by considering the case where, the drift coefficient has finitely many spatial discontinuities while both coefficients can grow superlinearly (in the space variable). These discontinuities are described by a piecewise local Lipschitz continuity and a piecewise monotone-type condition while the diffusion coefficient is assumed to be locally Lipschitz continuous and non-degenerate at the discontinuity points of the drift coefficient. Moreover, the superlinear nature of the coe…
The existence-uniqueness and stability of strong solutions are proved for a class of degenerate stochastic differential equations, where the noise coeffcicient might be non-Lipschitz, and the drift is locally Dini continuous in the component with noise (i.e. the second component) and locally Hölder-Dini continuous of order $\ff 2 3$ in the first component. Moreover, the weak uniqueness is proved under weaker conditions on the noise coefficient. Furthermore, if the noise coefficient is $C^{1+\vv}$ for some $\vv>0$ and the drift is Hölder continuous of order $å\in (\ff 2 3,1)$ in the first compo…
On the infinite time horizon approximation for Lévy-driven McKean-Vlasov SDEs with non-globally Lipschitz continuous and super-linearly growth drift and diffusion coefficients
Distribution dependent stochastic differential equations have been a very hot subject with extensive studies. On the other hand, under the $G$-expectation framework, stochastic differential equations driven by $G$-Brownian motion (in short form, $G$-SDEs) have received increasing attentions, and the existence and uniqueness of solutions to $G$-SDEs under Lipschitz and non-Lipschitz conditions have been obtained. Based on these studies, it is very natural and also important to investigate the $G$-SDEs which are also distribution dependent. In this paper, we are concerned with the well-posedness…
In this paper we study path-by-path uniqueness for multidimensional stochastic differential equations driven by the Brownian sheet. We assume that the drift coefficient is unbounded, verifies a spatial linear growth condition and is componentwise nondeacreasing. Our approach consists of showing the result for bounded and componentwise nondecreasing drift using both a local time-space representation and a law of iterated logarithm for Brownian sheets. The desired result follows using a Gronwall type lemma on the plane. As a by product, we obtain the existence of a unique strong solution of mult…
In this paper, we develop a general methodology to prove weak uniqueness for stochastic differential equations with coefficients depending on some path-functionals of the process. As an extension of the technique developed by Bass \& Perkins [BP09] in the standard diffusion case, the proposed methodology allows one to deal with processes whose probability laws are singular with respect to the Lebesgue measure. To illustrate our methodology, we prove weak existence and uniqueness in two examples : a diffusion process with coefficients depending on its running symmetric local time and a diffusio…
We prove uniqueness in law for possibly degenerate SDEs having a linear part in the drift term. Diffusion coefficients corresponding to non-degenerate directions of the noise are assumed to be continuous. When the diffusion part is constant we recover the classical degenerate Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process which only has to satisfy the Hörmander hypoellipticity condition. In the proof we use global $L^p$-estimates for hypoelliptic Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators recently proved in Bramanti-Cupini-Lanconelli-Priola (Math. Z. 266 (2010)) and adapt the localization procedure introduced by Stroock and Va…
As the first step for approaching the uniqueness and blowup properties of the solutions of the stochastic wave equations with multiplicative noise, we analyze the conditions for the uniqueness and blowup properties of the solution $(X_t,Y_t)$ of the equations $dX_t= Y_tdt$, $dY_t = |X_t|^αdB_t$, $(X_0,Y_0)=(x_0,y_0)$. In particular, we prove that solutions are nonunique if $0<α<1$ and $(x_0,y_0)=(0,0)$ and unique if $1/2<α<1$ and $(x_0,y_0)\neq(0,0)$. We also show that blowup in finite time holds if $α>1$ and $(x_0,y_0)\neq(0,0)$.
This paper introduces a class of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs), whose coefficients not only depend on the value of its solutions of the present but also the past and the future. For a sufficiently small time delay or a sufficiently small Lipschitz constant, the existence and uniqueness of such BSDEs is obtained. As an adjoint process, a class of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) is introduced, whose coefficients also depend on the present, the past and the future of its solutions. The existence and uniqueness of such SDEs is proved for a sufficiently small time adva…
Consider stochastic differential equations (SDEs) in $\Rd$: $dX_t=dW_t+b(t,X_t)\d t$, where $W$ is a Brownian motion, $b(\cdot, \cdot)$ is a measurable vector field. It is known that if $|b|^2(\cdot, \cdot)=|b|^2(\cdot)$ belongs to the Kato class $\K_{d,2}$, then there is a weak solution to the SDE. In this article we show that if $|b|^2$ belongs to the Kato class $\K_{d,\a}$ for some $\a \in (0,2)$ ($\a$ can be arbitrarily close to $2$), then there exists a unique strong solution to the stochastic differential equations, extending the results in the existing literature as demonstrated by exam…
This paper concerns the McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equation (SDE) with common noise. An appropriate definition of a weak solution to such an equation is developed. The importance of the notion of compatibility in this definition is highlighted by a demonstration of its rôle in connecting weak solutions to McKean-Vlasov SDEs with common noise and solutions to corresponding stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs). By keeping track of the dependence structure between all components in a sequence of approximating processes, a compactness argument is employed to prove the exist…
We prove pathwise uniqueness for stochastic differential equations driven by non-degenerate symmetric $α$-stable Lévy processes with values in $\R^d$ having a bounded and $β$-Hölder continuous drift term. We assume $β> 1 - \fracα{2} $ and $α\in [ 1, 2)$. The proof requires analytic regularity results for associated integro-differential operators of Kolmogorov type. We also study differentiability of solutions with respect to initial conditions and the homeomorphism property.
