We study a class of self-similar jump type SDEs driven by Hölder-continuous drift and noise coefficients. Using the Lamperti transformation for positive self-similar Markov processes we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for almost sure extinction in finite time. We then show that for certain parameters pathwise uniqueness holds in a restricted sense, namely among solutions spending a Lebesgue-negligible amount of time at 0. A direct power transformation plays a key role.
In this paper, we consider two skew Brownian motions, driven by the same Brownian motion, with different starting points and different skewness coefficients. We show that we can describe the evolution of the distance between the two processes with a stochastic differential equation. This S.D.E. possesses a jump component driven by the excursion process of one of the two skew Brownian motions. Using this representation, we show that the local time of two skew Brownian motions at their first hitting time is distributed as a simple function of a Beta random variable. This extends a result by Burd…
One proves the uniqueness of distributional solutions to nonlinear Fokker--Planck equations with monotone diffusion term and derive as a consequence (restricted) uniqueness in law for the corresponding McKean--Vlasov stochastic differential equation (SDE).
A new proof of pathwise uniqueness for SDEs with Sobolev diffusion and integrable drift term is introduced by extending a method from E. Fedrizzi and F. Flandoli (Pathwise uniqueness and continuous dependence of SDEs with non-regular drift, Stochastics 83 (2011), pp. 241--257) to the case of nonconstant diffusion.
In this paper we review and improve pathwise uniqueness results for some types of one-dimensional stochastic differential equations (SDE) involving the local time of the unknown process. The diffusion coefficient of the SDEs we consider is allowed to vanish on a set of positive measure and is not assumed to be smooth. As opposed to various existing results, our arguments are mainly based on the comparison theorem for local time and the occupation time formula. We apply our pathwise uniqueness results to derive strong existence and other properties of solutions for SDEs with rough coefficients.
A new result for the strong uniqueness for catalytic branching diffusions is established, which improves the work of Dawson, D.A.; Fleischmann, K.; Xiong, J.[Strong uniqueness for cyclically symbiotic branching diffusions. Statist. Probab. Lett. 73, no. 3, 251--257 (2005)].
In this paper we prove a new strong uniqueness result and a weak existence result for possibly {\it degenerate} multidimensional stochastic differential equations with Sobolev diffusion coefficients and rough drifts. In particular, examples with Hölder diffusion coefficients are provided to show our results.
In this paper, we investigate stochastic differential equations(SDEs) driven by a class of supercritical $α$-stable process(including the rotational symmetric $α-$stable process) with drift $b$. The weak well-posedness is proved, provided that the $(1-α)$-Hölder semi-norm of $b$ is sufficient small.
Here we study stochastic differential equations with a reflecting boundary condition. We provide sufficient conditions for pathwise uniqueness and non-explosion property of solutions in a framework admitting non-Lipschitz continuous coefficients and non-smooth domains.
For $α\in (0,1)$, we consider stochastic differential equations driven by one-sided stable processes of order $α$: \[dX_t= ϕ(X_{t-})\ dZ_t.\] We prove that pathwise uniqueness holds for this equation under the assumptions that $ϕ$ is continuous, non-decreasing and positive on $\R$. A counterexample is given to show that the positivity of $ϕ$ is crucial for pathwise uniqueness to hold.
We prove uniqueness in law for a class of parabolic stochastic partial differential equations in an interval driven by a functional A(u) of the temperature u times a space-time white noise. The functional A(u) is Hölder continuous in u of order greater than 1/2. Our method involves looking at an associated system of infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equations and we obtain a uniqueness result for such systems.
A new proof of a pathwise uniqueness result of Krylov and Röckner is given. It concerns SDEs with drift having only certain integrability properties. In spite of the poor regularity of the drift, pathwise continuous dependence on initial conditions may be obtained, by means of this new proof. The proof is formulated in such a way to show that the only major tool is a good regularity theory for the heat equation forced by a function with the same regularity of the drift.
For an SDE driven by a rotationally invariant $α$-stable noise we prove weak uniqueness of the solution under the balance condition $α+γ>1$, where $γ$ denotes the Holder index of the drift coefficient. We prove existence and continuity of the transition probability density of the corresponding Markov process and give a representation of this density with an explicitly given "principal part", and a "residual part" which possesses an upper bound. Similar representation is also provided for the derivative of the transition probability density w.r.t. the time variable.
The existence of stationary distributions to distribution dependent stochastic differential equations are investigated by using the ergodicity of the associated decoupled equation and the Schauder fixed point theorem. By using Zvonkin's transformation, we also establish the existence result for equations with singular coefficients. Instead of the uniqueness, the non-uniqueness of stationary distributions are considered for equations with regular coefficients. Concrete examples including McKean-Vlasov stochastic equations with the quadratic interaction and the non-quadratic interaction, and equ…
Our aim in this paper is to establish some strong stability properties of a solution of a stochastic differential equation driven by a fractional Brownian motion for which the pathwise uniqueness holds. The results are obtained using Skorokhod's selection theorem.
Existence, uniqueness, and $L_p$-approximation results are presented for scalar stochastic differential equations (SDEs) by considering the case where, the drift coefficient has finitely many spatial discontinuities while both coefficients can grow superlinearly (in the space variable). These discontinuities are described by a piecewise local Lipschitz continuity and a piecewise monotone-type condition while the diffusion coefficient is assumed to be locally Lipschitz continuous and non-degenerate at the discontinuity points of the drift coefficient. Moreover, the superlinear nature of the coe…
We begin with the study of some properties of the radial Dunkl process associated to a reduced root system $R$. It is shown that this diffusion is the unique strong solution for all $t \geq 0$ of a SDE with singular drift. Then, we study $T_0$, the first hitting time of the positive Weyl chamber : we prove, via stochastic calculus, a result already obtained by Chybiryakov on the finiteness of $T_0$. The second and new part deals with the law of $T_0$ for which we compute the tail distribution, as well as some insight via stochastic calculus on how root systems are connected with eigenvalues of…
Generally the convergence rate in exponential ergodicity $λ$ is an upper bound for the convergence rate $κ$ in uniform ergodicity for a Markov process, that is $λ\geqslantκ$. In this paper, we prove that $κ\geqslant \inf \{lambda,1/M_H\}$, where $M_H$ is a uniform bound on the moment of the hitting time to a "compact" set $H$. In the case where $M_H$ can be made arbitrarily small for $H$ large enough, we obtain that $λ=κ$. The general results are applied to Markov chains, diffusion processes and solutions to SDEs driven by symmetric stable processes.
In this paper we study path-by-path uniqueness for multidimensional stochastic differential equations driven by the Brownian sheet. We assume that the drift coefficient is unbounded, verifies a spatial linear growth condition and is componentwise nondeacreasing. Our approach consists of showing the result for bounded and componentwise nondecreasing drift using both a local time-space representation and a law of iterated logarithm for Brownian sheets. The desired result follows using a Gronwall type lemma on the plane. As a by product, we obtain the existence of a unique strong solution of mult…
In this paper, we develop a general methodology to prove weak uniqueness for stochastic differential equations with coefficients depending on some path-functionals of the process. As an extension of the technique developed by Bass \& Perkins [BP09] in the standard diffusion case, the proposed methodology allows one to deal with processes whose probability laws are singular with respect to the Lebesgue measure. To illustrate our methodology, we prove weak existence and uniqueness in two examples : a diffusion process with coefficients depending on its running symmetric local time and a diffusio…
As the first step for approaching the uniqueness and blowup properties of the solutions of the stochastic wave equations with multiplicative noise, we analyze the conditions for the uniqueness and blowup properties of the solution $(X_t,Y_t)$ of the equations $dX_t= Y_tdt$, $dY_t = |X_t|^αdB_t$, $(X_0,Y_0)=(x_0,y_0)$. In particular, we prove that solutions are nonunique if $0<α<1$ and $(x_0,y_0)=(0,0)$ and unique if $1/2<α<1$ and $(x_0,y_0)\neq(0,0)$. We also show that blowup in finite time holds if $α>1$ and $(x_0,y_0)\neq(0,0)$.
Consider stochastic differential equations (SDEs) in $\Rd$: $dX_t=dW_t+b(t,X_t)\d t$, where $W$ is a Brownian motion, $b(\cdot, \cdot)$ is a measurable vector field. It is known that if $|b|^2(\cdot, \cdot)=|b|^2(\cdot)$ belongs to the Kato class $\K_{d,2}$, then there is a weak solution to the SDE. In this article we show that if $|b|^2$ belongs to the Kato class $\K_{d,\a}$ for some $\a \in (0,2)$ ($\a$ can be arbitrarily close to $2$), then there exists a unique strong solution to the stochastic differential equations, extending the results in the existing literature as demonstrated by exam…
This paper concerns the McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equation (SDE) with common noise. An appropriate definition of a weak solution to such an equation is developed. The importance of the notion of compatibility in this definition is highlighted by a demonstration of its rôle in connecting weak solutions to McKean-Vlasov SDEs with common noise and solutions to corresponding stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs). By keeping track of the dependence structure between all components in a sequence of approximating processes, a compactness argument is employed to prove the exist…
We prove the existence and uniqueness of a strong solution for an SDE on a semi-axis with singularities at the point 0. The result obtained yields, for example, the strong uniqueness of non-negative solutions to SDEs governing Bessel processes.
We prove pathwise uniqueness for a class of stochastic differential equations (SDE) on a Hilbert space with cylindrical Wiener noise, whose nonlinear drift parts are sums of the sub-differential of a convex function and a bounded part. This generalizes a classical result by one of the authors to infinite dimensions. Our results also generalize and improve recent results by N. Champagnat and P. E. Jabin, proved in finite dimensions, in the case where their diffusion matrix is constant and nondegenerate and their weakly differentiable drift is the (weak) gradient of a convex function. We also pr…
We consider the fractional Cox-Ingersoll-Ross process satisfying the stochastic differential equation (SDE) $dX_t = aX_t\,dt + σ\sqrt{X_t}\,dB^H_t$ driven by a fractional Brownian motion (fBm) with Hurst parameter exceeding $\frac{2}{3}$. The integral $\int_0^t\sqrt{X_s}dB^H_s$ is considered as a pathwise integral and is equal to the limit of Riemann-Stieltjes integral sums. It is shown that the fractional Cox-Ingersoll-Ross process is a square of the fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process until the first zero hitting. Based on that, we consider the square of the fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck p…
In this paper, we investigate new sufficient conditions to ensure the existence of a unique global strong solution of stochastic differential equations with jumps. By using Euler approximation and by utilising a new test function $φ_δ$ (see the following definition (\ref{pntas1})), we prove that there is a unique global strong solution for the initial value problem of the equation. The condition we posed is even weaker than the local Lipschitzian continuity of the coefficients. We also present an example to show that our conditions are indeed weaker than those relevant conditions existing in t…
We study the degenerated Itô SDE on $\mathbb R^d$ whose drift coefficient only fulfills a mixed Osgood and Sobolev regularity. Under suitable assumptions on the gradient of the diffusion coefficient and on the divergence of the drift coefficient, we prove the existence and uniqueness of generalized stochastic flows associated to such equations. We also prove the uniqueness of solutions to the corresponding Fokker--Planck equation by using the probabilistic method.
In this paper, we study (strong and weak) existence and uniqueness of a class of non-Markovian SDEs whose drift contains the derivative in the sense of distributionsof a continuous function.
This paper introduces a class of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs), whose coefficients not only depend on the value of its solutions of the present but also the past and the future. For a sufficiently small time delay or a sufficiently small Lipschitz constant, the existence and uniqueness of such BSDEs is obtained. As an adjoint process, a class of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) is introduced, whose coefficients also depend on the present, the past and the future of its solutions. The existence and uniqueness of such SDEs is proved for a sufficiently small time adva…
The existence and uniqueness are established for McKean-Vlasov SDEs driven by Lévy processes. By using an approximation technique and coupling by change of measures, Harnack inequalities are investigated for McKean-Vlasov SDEs driven by subordinate Brownian motions.
In this paper we study jump-diffusion stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with a discontinuous drift coefficient and a possibly degenerate diffusion coefficient. Such SDEs appear in applications such as optimal control problems in energy markets. We prove existence and uniqueness of strong solutions. In addition we study the strong convergence order of the Euler-Maruyama scheme and recover the optimal rate $1/2$.
In this paper, we show the weak and strong well-posedness of density dependent stochastic differential equations driven by $α$-stable processes with $α\in(1,2)$. The existence part is based on Euler's approximation as \cite{HRZ20}, while, the uniqueness is based on the Schauder estimates in Besov spaces for nonlocal Fokker-Planck equations. For the existence, we only assume the drift being continuous in the density variable. For the weak uniqueness, the drift is assumed to be Lipschitz in the density variable, while for the strong uniqueness, we also need to assume the drift being $β_0$-order …
By using a classical truncated argument and introducing the local Wasserstein distance, the global existence and uniqueness are proved for the distribution dependent SDEs with local Lipschitz coefficients. Due to the measure dependence, the conditions in the sense of pointwise for classical cases can be simplified to the conditions in the sense of integral. On the basis of the well-posedness, we prove the $r$-th moment exponential stability using the measure dependent Lyapunov functions and the existence and uniqueness of invariant probability measure is studied under the integrated strong mon…
The paper investigates existence and uniqueness for a stochastic differential equation (SDE) with distributional drift depending on the law density of the solution. Those equations are known as McKean SDEs. The McKean SDE is interpreted in the sense of a suitable singular martingale problem. A key tool used in the investigation is the study of the corresponding Fokker-Planck equation.
The theory of backward SDEs extends the predictable representation property of Brownian motion to the nonlinear framework, thus providing a path-dependent analog of fully nonlinear parabolic PDEs. In this paper, we consider backward SDEs, their reflected version, and their second-order extension, in the context where the final data and the generator satisfy $L^1$-type of integrability condition. Our main objective is to provide the corresponding existence and uniqueness results for general Lipschitz generators. The uniqueness holds in the so-called Doob class of processes, simultaneously under…
Using elliptic and parabolic regularity results in $L^p$-spaces and generalized Dirichlet form theory, we construct for every starting point weak solutions to SDEs in $\mathbb{R}^d$ up to their explosion times including the following conditions. For arbitrary but fixed $p>d$ the diffusion coefficient $A=(a_{ij})_{1\le i,j\le d}$ is locally uniformly strictly elliptic with functions $a_{ij}\in H^{1,p}_{loc}(\mathbb{R}^d)$ and the drift coefficient $\mathbf{G}=(g_1,\dots, g_d)$ consists of functions $g_i\in L^p_{loc}(\mathbb{R}^d)$. The solution originates by construction from a Hunt process wit…
In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness result of the reflected BSDE with two continuous barriers under monotonicity and general increasing condition on $y$, with Lipschitz condition on $z$.
We prove uniqueness in law for possibly degenerate SDEs having a linear part in the drift term. Diffusion coefficients corresponding to non-degenerate directions of the noise are assumed to be continuous. When the diffusion part is constant we recover the classical degenerate Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process which only has to satisfy the Hörmander hypoellipticity condition. In the proof we use global $L^p$-estimates for hypoelliptic Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators recently proved in Bramanti-Cupini-Lanconelli-Priola (Math. Z. 266 (2010)) and adapt the localization procedure introduced by Stroock and Va…
Under integrability conditions on distribution dependent coefficients, existence and uniqueness are proved for McKean-Vlasov type SDEs with non-degenerate noise. When the coefficients are Dini continuous in the space variable, gradient estimates and Harnack type inequalities are derived. These generalize the corresponding results derived for classical SDEs, and are new in the distribution dependent setting.
We study a class of stochastic integral equations with jumps under non-Lipschitz conditions. We use the method of Euler approximations to obtain the existence of the solution and give some sufficient conditions for the strong uniqueness.
In this paper, the existence and uniqueness of the distribution dependent SDEs with Hölder continuous drift driven by $α$-stable process is investigated. Moreover, by using Zvonkin type transformation, the convergence rate of Euler-Maruyama method is also obtained. The results cover the ones in the case of distribution independent SDEs.
In this paper, existence and uniqueness are proved for path-dependent McKean-Vlasov type SDEs with integrability conditions. Gradient estimates and Harnack type inequalities are derived in the case that the coefficients are Dini continuous in the space variable. These generalize the corresponding results derived for classical functional SDEs with singular coefficients.
We prove pathwise uniqueness for stochastic differential equations driven by non-degenerate symmetric $α$-stable Lévy processes with values in $\R^d$ having a bounded and $β$-Hölder continuous drift term. We assume $β> 1 - \fracα{2} $ and $α\in [ 1, 2)$. The proof requires analytic regularity results for associated integro-differential operators of Kolmogorov type. We also study differentiability of solutions with respect to initial conditions and the homeomorphism property.
We show the existence and uniqueness of strong solutions for stochastic differential equation driven by partial $α$-stable noise and partial Brownian noise with singular coefficients. The proof is based on the regularity of degenerate mixed type Kolmogorov equation.
We study the uniqueness in the path-by-path sense (i.e. $ω$-by-$ω$) of solutions to stochastic differential equations with additive noise and non-Lipschitz autonomous drift. The notion of path-by-path solution involves considering a collection of ordinary differential equations and is, in principle, weaker than that of a strong solution, since no adaptability condition is required. We use results and ideas from the classical theory of ode's, together with probabilistic tools like Girsanov's theorem, to establish the uniqueness property for some classes of noises, including Brownian motion, and…
Time change is a powerful technique for generating noises and providing flexible models. In the framework of time changed Brownian and Poisson random measures we study the existence and uniqueness of a solution to a general mean-field stochastic differential equation. We consider a mean-field stochastic control problem for mean-field controlled dynamics and we present a necessary and a sufficient maximum principle. For this we study existence and uniqueness of solutions to mean-field backward stochastic differential equations in the context of time change. An example of a centralised control i…
