We show weak existence and uniqueness in law for a general class of stochastic differential equations in $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\ge 1$, with prescribed sub-invariant measure $\widehatμ$. The dispersion and drift coefficients of the stochastic differential equation are allowed to be degenerate and discontinuous, and locally unbounded, respectively. Uniqueness in law is obtained via $L^1(\mathbb{R}^d,\widehatμ)$-uniqueness in a subclass of continuous Markov processes, namely right processes that have $\widehatμ$ as sub-invariant measure and have continuous paths for $\widehatμ$-almost every starting point. Weak existence is obtained for a broader class via the martingale problem.
One proves the uniqueness of distributional solutions to nonlinear Fokker--Planck equations with monotone diffusion term and derive as a consequence (restricted) uniqueness in law for the corresponding McKean--Vlasov stochastic differential equation (SDE).
A new proof of pathwise uniqueness for SDEs with Sobolev diffusion and integrable drift term is introduced by extending a method from E. Fedrizzi and F. Flandoli (Pathwise uniqueness and continuous dependence of SDEs with non-regular drift, Stochastics 83 (2011), pp. 241--257) to the case of nonconstant diffusion.
A new result for the strong uniqueness for catalytic branching diffusions is established, which improves the work of Dawson, D.A.; Fleischmann, K.; Xiong, J.[Strong uniqueness for cyclically symbiotic branching diffusions. Statist. Probab. Lett. 73, no. 3, 251--257 (2005)].
In this paper we prove a new strong uniqueness result and a weak existence result for possibly {\it degenerate} multidimensional stochastic differential equations with Sobolev diffusion coefficients and rough drifts. In particular, examples with Hölder diffusion coefficients are provided to show our results.
In this paper we review and improve pathwise uniqueness results for some types of one-dimensional stochastic differential equations (SDE) involving the local time of the unknown process. The diffusion coefficient of the SDEs we consider is allowed to vanish on a set of positive measure and is not assumed to be smooth. As opposed to various existing results, our arguments are mainly based on the comparison theorem for local time and the occupation time formula. We apply our pathwise uniqueness results to derive strong existence and other properties of solutions for SDEs with rough coefficients.
In this paper, we investigate stochastic differential equations(SDEs) driven by a class of supercritical $α$-stable process(including the rotational symmetric $α-$stable process) with drift $b$. The weak well-posedness is proved, provided that the $(1-α)$-Hölder semi-norm of $b$ is sufficient small.
By using the ultracontractivity of a reference diffusion semigroup, Krylov's estimate is established for a class of degenerate SDEs with singular drifts, which leads to existence and pathwise uniqueness by means of Zvonkin's transformation. The main result is applied to singular SDEs on generalized Heisenberg groups.
Here we study stochastic differential equations with a reflecting boundary condition. We provide sufficient conditions for pathwise uniqueness and non-explosion property of solutions in a framework admitting non-Lipschitz continuous coefficients and non-smooth domains.
For $α\in (0,1)$, we consider stochastic differential equations driven by one-sided stable processes of order $α$: \[dX_t= ϕ(X_{t-})\ dZ_t.\] We prove that pathwise uniqueness holds for this equation under the assumptions that $ϕ$ is continuous, non-decreasing and positive on $\R$. A counterexample is given to show that the positivity of $ϕ$ is crucial for pathwise uniqueness to hold.
By constructing successful couplings, the derivative formula, gradient estimates and Harnack inequalities are established for the semigroup associated with a class of degenerate functional stochastic differential equations.
We prove uniqueness in law for a class of parabolic stochastic partial differential equations in an interval driven by a functional A(u) of the temperature u times a space-time white noise. The functional A(u) is Hölder continuous in u of order greater than 1/2. Our method involves looking at an associated system of infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equations and we obtain a uniqueness result for such systems.
A new proof of a pathwise uniqueness result of Krylov and Röckner is given. It concerns SDEs with drift having only certain integrability properties. In spite of the poor regularity of the drift, pathwise continuous dependence on initial conditions may be obtained, by means of this new proof. The proof is formulated in such a way to show that the only major tool is a good regularity theory for the heat equation forced by a function with the same regularity of the drift.
The existence of stationary distributions to distribution dependent stochastic differential equations are investigated by using the ergodicity of the associated decoupled equation and the Schauder fixed point theorem. By using Zvonkin's transformation, we also establish the existence result for equations with singular coefficients. Instead of the uniqueness, the non-uniqueness of stationary distributions are considered for equations with regular coefficients. Concrete examples including McKean-Vlasov stochastic equations with the quadratic interaction and the non-quadratic interaction, and equ…
For degenerate stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motions with Hurst parameter $H>1/2$, the derivative formulas are established by using Malliavin calculus and coupling method, respectively. Furthermore, we find some relation between these two approaches. As applications, the (log) Harnack inequalities and the hyperbounded property are presented.
By using Bismut's approach about the Malliavin calculus with jumps, we study the regularity of the distributional density for SDEs driven by degenerate additive Lévy noises. Under full Hörmander's conditions, we prove the existence of distributional density and the weak continuity in the first variable of the distributional density. Under the uniform first order Lie's bracket condition, we also prove the smoothness of the density.
In this paper, the Harnack inequalities for $G$-SDEs with degenerate noise are derived by method of coupling by change of measure. Moreover, the gradient estimate for the associated nonlinear semigroup $\bar{P}_t$ $$|\nabla \bar{P}_t f|\leq c(p,t)(\bar{P}_t |f|^p)^{\frac{1}{p}}, \ \ p>1, t>0$$ is also obtained for bounded and continuous function $f$. As an application of Harnack inequality, we prove the weak existence of degenerate $G$-SDEs under some integrable conditions. Finally, an example is presented. All of the above results extends the existed results in the linear expectation setting.
Existence, uniqueness, and $L_p$-approximation results are presented for scalar stochastic differential equations (SDEs) by considering the case where, the drift coefficient has finitely many spatial discontinuities while both coefficients can grow superlinearly (in the space variable). These discontinuities are described by a piecewise local Lipschitz continuity and a piecewise monotone-type condition while the diffusion coefficient is assumed to be locally Lipschitz continuous and non-degenerate at the discontinuity points of the drift coefficient. Moreover, the superlinear nature of the coe…
Our aim in this paper is to establish some strong stability properties of a solution of a stochastic differential equation driven by a fractional Brownian motion for which the pathwise uniqueness holds. The results are obtained using Skorokhod's selection theorem.
We consider a stable driven degenerate stochastic differential equation, whose coefficients satisfy a kind of weak H{ö}rmander condition. Under mild smoothness assumptions we prove the uniqueness of the martingale problem for the associated generator under some dimension constraints. Also, when the driving noise is scalar and tempered, we establish density bounds reflecting the multi-scale behavior of the process.
We modify the coupling method established in [22, 20] and develop a technique to prove the exponential mixing of a 2D stochastic system forced by degenerate Levy noises. In particular, these Levy noises include $α$-stable noises (0 < $α$ < 2). Thanks to the stimulating discussion [14], this technique is promising to study the exponential mixing problem of SPDEs driven by degenerate symmetric $α$-stable noises.
The existence and uniqueness of mild solutions are proved for a class of degenerate stochastic differential equations on Hilbert spaces where the drift is Dini continuous in the component with noise and Hölder continuous of order larger than $\ff 2 3$ in the other component. In the finite-dimensional case the Dini continuity is further weakened. The main results are applied to solve second order stochastic systems driven by space-time white noises.
In this paper, we develop a general methodology to prove weak uniqueness for stochastic differential equations with coefficients depending on some path-functionals of the process. As an extension of the technique developed by Bass \& Perkins [BP09] in the standard diffusion case, the proposed methodology allows one to deal with processes whose probability laws are singular with respect to the Lebesgue measure. To illustrate our methodology, we prove weak existence and uniqueness in two examples : a diffusion process with coefficients depending on its running symmetric local time and a diffusio…
By comparing the original equations with the corresponding stationary ones, the moderate deviation principle (MDP) is established for unbounded additive functionals of several different models of distribution dependent SDEs, with non-degenerate and degenerate noises.
As the first step for approaching the uniqueness and blowup properties of the solutions of the stochastic wave equations with multiplicative noise, we analyze the conditions for the uniqueness and blowup properties of the solution $(X_t,Y_t)$ of the equations $dX_t= Y_tdt$, $dY_t = |X_t|^αdB_t$, $(X_0,Y_0)=(x_0,y_0)$. In particular, we prove that solutions are nonunique if $0<α<1$ and $(x_0,y_0)=(0,0)$ and unique if $1/2<α<1$ and $(x_0,y_0)\neq(0,0)$. We also show that blowup in finite time holds if $α>1$ and $(x_0,y_0)\neq(0,0)$.
In this paper, we derive a characterization theorem for the path-independent property of the density of the Girsanov transformation for {\it degenerated} stochastic differential equations (SDEs), extending the characterization theorem of \cite{twwy} for the non-degenerated SDEs. We further extends our consideration to non-Lipschitz SDEs with jumps and with degenerated diffusion coefficients, which generalizes the corresponding characterization theorem established in \cite{hqwu}.
Under full Hörmander's conditions, we prove the strong Feller property of the semigroup determined by an SDE driven by additive subordinate Brownian motion, where the drift is allowed to be arbitrarily growth. For this, we extend a criterion due to Malicet-Poly \cite{Ma-Po} and Bally-Caramellino \cite{Ba-Ca} about the convergence of the laws of Wiener functionals in total variations. Moreover, the example of a chain of coupled oscillators is verified.
In this paper we study the existence of densities for strongly degenerate stochastic differential equations (SDEs) whose coefficients depend on time and are not globally Lipschitz. In these models neither local ellipticity nor the strong Hörmander condition is satisfied. In this general setting we show that continuous transition densities indeed exist in all neighborhoods of points where the weak Hörmander condition is satisfied. We also exhibit regions where these densities remain positive. We then apply these results to stochastic Hodgkin-Huxley models with periodic input as a first step tow…
Consider stochastic differential equations (SDEs) in $\Rd$: $dX_t=dW_t+b(t,X_t)\d t$, where $W$ is a Brownian motion, $b(\cdot, \cdot)$ is a measurable vector field. It is known that if $|b|^2(\cdot, \cdot)=|b|^2(\cdot)$ belongs to the Kato class $\K_{d,2}$, then there is a weak solution to the SDE. In this article we show that if $|b|^2$ belongs to the Kato class $\K_{d,\a}$ for some $\a \in (0,2)$ ($\a$ can be arbitrarily close to $2$), then there exists a unique strong solution to the stochastic differential equations, extending the results in the existing literature as demonstrated by exam…
In this paper, we investigate new sufficient conditions to ensure the existence of a unique global strong solution of stochastic differential equations with jumps. By using Euler approximation and by utilising a new test function $φ_δ$ (see the following definition (\ref{pntas1})), we prove that there is a unique global strong solution for the initial value problem of the equation. The condition we posed is even weaker than the local Lipschitzian continuity of the coefficients. We also present an example to show that our conditions are indeed weaker than those relevant conditions existing in t…
This paper concerns the McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equation (SDE) with common noise. An appropriate definition of a weak solution to such an equation is developed. The importance of the notion of compatibility in this definition is highlighted by a demonstration of its rôle in connecting weak solutions to McKean-Vlasov SDEs with common noise and solutions to corresponding stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs). By keeping track of the dependence structure between all components in a sequence of approximating processes, a compactness argument is employed to prove the exist…
Using the Bismut's approach to Malliavin calculus, we introduce a simplified Malliavin matrix ([11]) for stochastic differential equations (SDEs) force by degenerate stable like noises. For the degenerate SDEs driven by Wiener noises, one can derive a Norris type lemma and use it \emph{iteratively} to prove the smoothness of density functions. Unfortunately, Norris type lemma is very hard to be iteratively applied to SDEs with stable like noises. In this paper, we derive a simple inequality as a replacement and use it to show that two families of degenerate SDEs with stable like noises admit s…
In this paper, we study (strong and weak) existence and uniqueness of a class of non-Markovian SDEs whose drift contains the derivative in the sense of distributionsof a continuous function.
In this paper we study jump-diffusion stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with a discontinuous drift coefficient and a possibly degenerate diffusion coefficient. Such SDEs appear in applications such as optimal control problems in energy markets. We prove existence and uniqueness of strong solutions. In addition we study the strong convergence order of the Euler-Maruyama scheme and recover the optimal rate $1/2$.
This paper introduces a class of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs), whose coefficients not only depend on the value of its solutions of the present but also the past and the future. For a sufficiently small time delay or a sufficiently small Lipschitz constant, the existence and uniqueness of such BSDEs is obtained. As an adjoint process, a class of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) is introduced, whose coefficients also depend on the present, the past and the future of its solutions. The existence and uniqueness of such SDEs is proved for a sufficiently small time adva…
The existence and uniqueness are established for McKean-Vlasov SDEs driven by Lévy processes. By using an approximation technique and coupling by change of measures, Harnack inequalities are investigated for McKean-Vlasov SDEs driven by subordinate Brownian motions.
We study the degenerated Itô SDE on $\mathbb R^d$ whose drift coefficient only fulfills a mixed Osgood and Sobolev regularity. Under suitable assumptions on the gradient of the diffusion coefficient and on the divergence of the drift coefficient, we prove the existence and uniqueness of generalized stochastic flows associated to such equations. We also prove the uniqueness of solutions to the corresponding Fokker--Planck equation by using the probabilistic method.
We obtain sufficient condition for SDEs to evolve in the positive orthant. We use comparison theorem arguments to achieve this. As a result we prove the existence of a unique strong solution for a class of multidimensional degenerate SDEs with non-Lipschitz diffusion coefficients.
The paper estimates the rate of convergence of the weak Euler approximation for the solutions of SDEs with Hoelder continuous coefficients driven by point and martingale measures. The equation considered has a non-degenerate main part whose jump intensity measure is absolutely continuous with respect to the Levy measure of a spherically-symmetric stable process. It includes the nondegenerate diffusions and SDEs driven by Levy processes.
The theory of backward SDEs extends the predictable representation property of Brownian motion to the nonlinear framework, thus providing a path-dependent analog of fully nonlinear parabolic PDEs. In this paper, we consider backward SDEs, their reflected version, and their second-order extension, in the context where the final data and the generator satisfy $L^1$-type of integrability condition. Our main objective is to provide the corresponding existence and uniqueness results for general Lipschitz generators. The uniqueness holds in the so-called Doob class of processes, simultaneously under…
By using a classical truncated argument and introducing the local Wasserstein distance, the global existence and uniqueness are proved for the distribution dependent SDEs with local Lipschitz coefficients. Due to the measure dependence, the conditions in the sense of pointwise for classical cases can be simplified to the conditions in the sense of integral. On the basis of the well-posedness, we prove the $r$-th moment exponential stability using the measure dependent Lyapunov functions and the existence and uniqueness of invariant probability measure is studied under the integrated strong mon…
We prove uniqueness in law for possibly degenerate SDEs having a linear part in the drift term. Diffusion coefficients corresponding to non-degenerate directions of the noise are assumed to be continuous. When the diffusion part is constant we recover the classical degenerate Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process which only has to satisfy the Hörmander hypoellipticity condition. In the proof we use global $L^p$-estimates for hypoelliptic Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators recently proved in Bramanti-Cupini-Lanconelli-Priola (Math. Z. 266 (2010)) and adapt the localization procedure introduced by Stroock and Va…
In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness result of the reflected BSDE with two continuous barriers under monotonicity and general increasing condition on $y$, with Lipschitz condition on $z$.
Under integrability conditions on distribution dependent coefficients, existence and uniqueness are proved for McKean-Vlasov type SDEs with non-degenerate noise. When the coefficients are Dini continuous in the space variable, gradient estimates and Harnack type inequalities are derived. These generalize the corresponding results derived for classical SDEs, and are new in the distribution dependent setting.
In this paper, the existence and uniqueness of the distribution dependent SDEs with Hölder continuous drift driven by $α$-stable process is investigated. Moreover, by using Zvonkin type transformation, the convergence rate of Euler-Maruyama method is also obtained. The results cover the ones in the case of distribution independent SDEs.
We study a class of stochastic integral equations with jumps under non-Lipschitz conditions. We use the method of Euler approximations to obtain the existence of the solution and give some sufficient conditions for the strong uniqueness.
In this paper, existence and uniqueness are proved for path-dependent McKean-Vlasov type SDEs with integrability conditions. Gradient estimates and Harnack type inequalities are derived in the case that the coefficients are Dini continuous in the space variable. These generalize the corresponding results derived for classical functional SDEs with singular coefficients.
We provide a support theorem for the law of the solution to an SDE with jump noise. This theorem applies to general SDEs with jumps and is illustrated by examples of SDEs with quite degenerate jump noises where the theorem leads to an informative description of the support.
We prove pathwise uniqueness for stochastic differential equations driven by non-degenerate symmetric $α$-stable Lévy processes with values in $\R^d$ having a bounded and $β$-Hölder continuous drift term. We assume $β> 1 - \fracα{2} $ and $α\in [ 1, 2)$. The proof requires analytic regularity results for associated integro-differential operators of Kolmogorov type. We also study differentiability of solutions with respect to initial conditions and the homeomorphism property.
We consider non degenerate Brownian SDEs with H{ö}lder continuous in space diffusion coefficient and unbounded drift with linear growth. We derive two sided bounds for the associated density and pointwise controls of its derivatives up to order two under some additional spatial H{ö}lder continuity assumptions on the drift. Importantly, the estimates reflect the transport of the initial condition by the unbounded drift through an auxiliary, possibly regularized, flow.
