We study a new biholomorphic invariant of holomorphic maps between domains in different dimensions based on generic initial ideals. We start with the standard generic monomial ideals to find invariants for rational maps of spheres and hyperquadrics, giving a readily computable invariant in this important case. For example, the generic initial monomials distinguish all four inequivalent rational proper maps from the two to the three dimensional ball. Next, we associate to each subspace $X \subset {\mathcal O}(U)$ a generic initial monomial subspace, which is invariant under biholomorphic transformations and multiplication by nonzero functions. The generic initial monomial subspace is a biholomorphic invariant for holomorphic maps if the target automorphism is linear fractional as in the case of automorphisms of spheres or hyperquadrics.
The goal of this article is to prove the Sum of Squares Conjecture for real polynomials $r(z,\bar{z})$ on $\mathbb{C}^3$ with diagonal coefficient matrix. This conjecture describes the possible values for the rank of $r(z,\bar{z}) \|z\|^2$ under the hypothesis that $r(z,\bar{z})\|z\|^2=\|h(z)\|^2$ for some holomorphic polynomial mapping $h$. Our approach is to connect this problem to the degree estimates problem for proper holomorphic monomial mappings from the unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^2$ to the unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^k$. D'Angelo, Kos, and Riehl proved the sharp degree estimates theorem in …
For appropriate domains $Ω_{1}, Ω_{2}$ we consider mappings $Φ_{\mathbf A}:Ω_{1}\toΩ_{2}$ of monomial type. We obtain an orthogonal decomposition of the Bergman space $\mathcal A^{2}(Ω_{1})$ into finitely many closed subspaces indexed by characters of a finite Abelian group associated to the mapping $Φ_{\mathbf A}$. We then show that each subspace is isomorphic to a weighted Bergman space on $Ω_{2}$. This leads to a formula for the Bergman kernel on $Ω_{1}$ as a sum of weighted Bergman kernels on $Ω_{2}$
We study the complexity of holomorphic isometries and proper maps from the complex unit ball to type IV classical domains. We investigate on degree estimates of holomorphic isometries and holomorphic maps with minimum target dimension. We also construct a real-parameter family of mutually inequivalent holomorphic isometries from the unit ball to type IV domains. We also provide examples of non-isometric proper holomorphic maps from the complex unit ball to classical domains.
We solve the non-linear Cousin problem for $J$-holomorphic maps. That is, we provide a gluing method for the pseudoholomorphic maps defined on a Cartan pair of domains in $\mathbb{C}$.
We study monodromy of holomorphic motions and show the equivalence of triviality of monodromy of holomorphic motions and extensions of holomorphic motions to continuous motions of the Riemann sphere. We also study liftings of holomorphic maps into certain Teichmüller spaces. We use this "lifting property" to prove that, under the condition of trivial monodromy, any holomorphic motion of a closed set in the Riemann sphere, over a hyperbolic Riemann surface, can be extended to a holomorphic motion of the sphere, over the same parameter space. We conclude that this extension can be done in a conf…
Let $(ϕ_t)$ be a semigroup of holomorphic self-maps of~$\mathbb D$. In this note, we use an abstract approach to define the Königs function of $(ϕ_t)$ and "holomorphic models" and show how to deduce the existence and properties of the infinitesimal generator of $(ϕ_t)$ from this construction.
We show that each proper holomorphic self map of a symmetric power of the unit ball is an automorphism naturally induced by an automorphism of the unit ball, provided the ball is of dimension at least two.
We prove rigidity results for holomorphic proper maps from the complex unit ball $\mathbb{B}^n$ to the Type IV bounded symmetric domain $D^{IV}_m$ where $n \geq 4, n+1\leq m \leq 2n-3$. In addition, a classification result is established when $m=n+1.$
We study regularity properties of CR maps in positive codimension valued in pseudoconvex manifolds which carry a nontrivial Levi foliation. We introduce an invariant which can be used to deduce that any sufficiently regular CR map from a minimal manifold into such a foliated target is either generically smooth or geometrically highly constrained, and to show generic smoothness of sufficiently regular CR transversal CR maps between pseudoconvex hypersurfaces. As an application, we discuss boundary regularity of proper holomorphic maps into bounded symmetric domains.
The loop space $L\mathbb{P}^n$ of the complex projective space $\mathbb{P}^n$ consisting of all $C^k$ or Sobolev $W^{k, \, p}$ maps $S^1 \to \mathbb{P}^n$ is an infinite dimensional complex manifold. We identify a class of holomorphic self-maps of $L\mathbb{P}^n$, including all automorphisms.
We study when there exists a dense holomorphic curve in a space of holomorphic maps from a Stein space. We first show that for any bounded convex domain $Ω\Subset\mathbb{C}^n$ and any connected complex manifold $Y$, the space $\mathcal{O}(Ω,Y)$ contains a dense holomorphic disc. Our second result states that $Y$ is an Oka manifold if and only if for any Stein space $X$ there exists a dense entire curve in every path component of $\mathcal{O}(X,Y)$. In the second half of this paper, we apply the above results to the theory of universal functions. It is proved that for any bounded convex domain …
In this paper we derive formulas for the Monge-Ampère measures of functions of the form $\log|Φ|_c$, where $Φ$ is a holomorphic map on a complex manifold $X$ of dimension $n$ with values in $\mathbb{C}^{n+1}\setminus\{0\}$ and $|\cdot|_c$ is the Lie norm on $\mathbb{C}^{n+1}$.
In this paper we studied a broader type of generalized balls which are domains on the complex projective with possibly Levi-degenerate boundaries. We proved rigidity theorems for proper holomorphic mappings among them by exploring the structure of the moduli spaces of projective linear subspaces, which generalized some earlier results for the ordinary generalized balls with Levi-nondegenerate boundaries.
We show that any element of the special linear group $SL_2(R)$ is a product of two exponentials if the ring $R$ is either the ring of holomorphic functions on an open Riemann surface or the disc algebra. This is sharp: one exponential factor is not enough since the exponential map corresponding to $SL_2(\mathbb{C})$ is not surjective. Our result extends to the linear group $GL_2(R)$.
We study proper rational maps from the unit disk to balls in higher dimensions. After gathering some known results, we study the moduli space of unitary equivalence classes of polynomial proper maps from the disk to a ball, and we establish a normal form for these equivalence classes. We also prove that all rational proper maps from the disk to a ball are homotopic in target dimension at least $2$.
We prove some Liouville type results for generalized holomorphic maps in three classes: maps from pseudo-Hermitian manifolds to almost Hermitian manifolds, maps from almost Hermitian manifolds to pseudo-Hermitian manifolds and maps from pseudo-Hermitian manifolds to pseudo-Hermitian manifolds, assuming that the domains are compact. For instance, we show that any $(J,J^N)$ holomorphic map from a compact pseudo-Hermitian manifold $M$ with nonnegative (resp. positive) pseudo-Hermitian sectional curvature to an almost Hermitian manifold $N$ with negative (resp. nonpositive) holomorphic sectional c…
We prove that a finite family of commuting holomorphic self-maps of the unit ball $\mathbb{B}^q\subset \mathbb{C}^q$ admits a simultaneous holomorphic conjugacy to a family of commuting automorphisms of a possibly lower dimensional ball, and that such conjugacy satisfies a universal property. As an application we describe when a hyperbolic and a parabolic holomorphic self-map of $\mathbb{B}^q$ can commute.
