The group of automorphisms of the geometry of an integrable system is considered. The geometrical structure used to obtain it is provided by a normal form representation of integrable systems that do not depend on any additional geometrical structure like symplectic, Poisson, etc. Such geometrical structure provides a generalized toroidal bundle on the carrier space of the system. Non--canonical diffeomorphisms of such structure generate alternative Hamiltonian structures for complete integrable Hamiltonian systems. The energy-period theorem provides the first non--trivial obstruction for the equivalence of integrable systems.
We construct integrable and superintegrable Hamiltonian systems using the realizations of four dimensional real Lie algebras as a symmetry of the system with the phase space R4 and R6. Furthermore, we construct some integrable and superintegrable Hamiltonian systems for which the symmetry Lie group is also the phase space of the system.
In this article, we construct two-dimensional integrable and superintegrable sys- tems in terms of the master function formalism and relate them to Mielnik;s and Marquette;s construction in supersymmetric quantum mechanics. For two diferent cases of the master functions, we obtain two diferent two-dimensional superintegrable systems with higher order integrals of motion.
Integrable and superintegrable quantum mechanical systems with position dependent masses invariant with respect to one parametric Lie groups. 1. Systems with cylindric symmetry
A system of two particles with spin s=0 and s=1/2 respectively, moving in a plane is considered. It is shown that such a system with a nontrivial spin-orbit interaction can allow an 8 dimensional Lie algebra of first-order integrals of motion. The Pauli equation is solved in this superintegrable case and reduced to a system of ordinary differential equations when only one first-order integral exists.
Integrable quantum mechanical systems with magnetic fields are constructed in two-dimensional Euclidean space. The integral of motion is assumed to be a first or second order Hermitian operator. Contrary to the case of purely scalar potentials, quadratic integrability does not imply separation of variables in the Schroedinger equation. Moreover, quantum and classical integrable systems do not necessarily coincide: the Hamiltonian can depend on the Planck constant in a nontrivial manner.
A systematic search for superintegrable quantum Hamiltonians describing the interaction between two particles with spin 0 and 1/2, is performed. We restrict to integrals of motion that are first-order (matrix) polynomials in the components of linear momentum. Several such systems are found and for one non-trivial example we show how superintegrability leads to exact solvability: we obtain exact (nonperturbative) bound state energy formulas and exact expressions for the wave functions in terms of products of Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials.
The goal of this thesis is the search for integrable and superintegrable systems with magnetic field. We formulate the quantum mechanical determining equations for second order integrals of motion in the cylindrical coordinates and we find all quadratically integrable systems of the cylindrical type. Among them we search for systems admitting additional integrals of motion. We find all systems with an additional first order integral both in classical and quantum mechanics. It turns out that all these systems have already been known and no other exist. We also find all systems with an additiona…
Integrable and superintegrable quantum mechanical systems with position dependent masses invariant with respect to one parametric Lie groups. 2. Systems with dilatation and shift symmetries
The determination of the first integrals (FIs) of a dynamical system and the subsequent assessment of their integrability or superintegrability in a systematic way is still an open subject. One method which has been developed along these lines for second order autonomous dynamical systems is the so-called direct method. According to this method, one assumes a general functional form for the FI I and requires the condition dI/dt=0 along the dynamical equations. This results to a system of partial differential equations (PDEs) to which one adds the necessary integrability conditions of the invol…
A new integrable generalization to the 2D sphere $S^2$ and to the hyperbolic space $H^2$ of the 2D Euclidean anisotropic oscillator Hamiltonian with Rosochatius (centrifugal) terms is presented, and its curved integral of the motion is shown to be quadratic in the momenta. In order to construct such a new integrable Hamiltonian $H_κ$, we will make use of a group theoretical approach in which the curvature $κ$ of the underlying space will be treated as an additional (contraction) parameter, and we will make extensive use of projective coordinates and their associated phase spaces. It turns out …
We consider a class of Hamiltonian systems in 3 degrees of freedom, with a particular type of quadratic integral and which includes the rational Calogero-Moser system as a particular case. For the general class, we introduce separation coordinates to find the general separable (and therefore Liouville integrable) system, with two quadratic integrals. This gives a coupling of the Calogero-Moser system with a large class of potentials, generalising the series of potentials which are separable in parabolic coordinates. Particular cases are {\em superintegrable}, including Kepler and a resonant os…
There are two classes of quantum integrable systems on a manifold with quadratic integrals, the Liouville and the Lie integrable systems as it happens in the classical case. The quantum Liouville quadratic integrable systems are defined on a Liouville manifold and the Schrödinger equation can be solved by separation of variables in one coordinate system. The Lie integrable systems are defined on a Lie manifold and are not generally separable ones but the can be solved. Therefore there are superintegrable systems with two quadratic integrals of motion not necessarily separable in two coordinate…
The aim of the present article is to construct quadratically integrable three dimensional systems in non-vanishing magnetic fields which possess so-called non-subgroup type integrals. The presence of such integrals means that the system possesses a pair of integrals of motion in involution which are (at most) quadratic in momenta and whose leading order terms, that are necessarily elements of the enveloping algebra of the Euclidean algebra, are not quadratic Casimir operators of a chain of its subalgebras. By imposing in addition that one of the integrals has the leading order term $L_z^2$ we …
We discuss bi-Hamiltonian structures for integrable and superintegrable Hamiltonian system on the list of symplectic four-dimensional real Lie groups are classified by G. Ovando. In addition, we creat corresponding control matrix for obtained bi-Hamiltonian structures.
We consider the generic quadratic first integral (QFI) of the form $I=K_{ab}(t,q)\dot{q}^{a}\dot{q}^{b}+K_{a}(t,q)\dot{q}^{a}+K(t,q)$ and require the condition $dI/dt=0$. The latter results in a system of partial differential equations which involve the tensors $K_{ab}(t,q)$, $K_{a}(t,q)$, $K(t,q)$ and the dynamical quantities of the dynamical equations. These equations divide in two sets. The first set involves only geometric quantities of the configuration space and the second set contains the interaction of these quantities with the dynamical fields. A theorem is presented which provides a …
We study non-invariant Killing tensors with non-zero Nijenhuis torsion in the three-dimensional Euclidean space. Generalizing the corresponding integrable systems we construct two new families of superintegrable systems in $n$-dimensional Euclidean space.
We obtain, in local coordinates, the explicit form of the two-dimensional, super-integrable systems of Matveev and Shevchishin involving cubic integrals. This enables us to determine for which values of the parameters these systems are indeed globally defined on the two-sphere.
In algebraic geometry, there is a reduction algorithm that transforms the unreduced divisor into a unique reduced divisor, which existence is guaranteed by the Riemann-Roch theorem. We discuss application of this algorithm to construction of finite-dimensional superintegrable systems with $n$ degrees of freedom identifying coordinates of the reduced divisor with integrals of motion.
A classical (or quantum) superintegrable system on an n-dimensional Riemannian manifold is an integrable Hamiltonian system with potential that admits 2n-1 functionally independent constants of the motion that are polynomial in the momenta, the maximum number possible. If these constants of the motion are all quadratic, the system is second order superintegrable. Such systems have remarkable properties. Typical properties are that 1) they are integrable in multiple ways and comparison of ways of integration leads to new facts about the systems, 2) they are multiseparable, 3) the second order s…
Using a Poisson bracket representation, in 3D, of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$, we first use highest weight representations to embed this into larger Lie algebras. These are then interpreted as symmetry and conformal symmetry algebras of the "kinetic energy", related to the quadratic Casimir function. We then consider the potentials which can be added, whilst remaining integrable, leading to families of separable systems, depending upon arbitrary functions of a single variable. Adding further integrals, in the superintegrable case, restricts these functions to specific forms, depending u…
In previous work, we have considered Hamiltonians associated with 3 dimensional conformally flat spaces, possessing 2, 3 and 4 dimensional isometry algebras. Previously our Hamiltonians have represented free motion, but here we consider the problem of adding potential functions in the presence of symmetry. Separable potentials in the 3 dimensional space reduce to 3 or 4 parameter potentials for Darboux-Koenigs Hamiltonians. Other 3D coordinate systems reveal connections between Darboux-Koenigs and other well known super-integrable Hamiltonians, such as the Kepler problem and isotropic oscillat…
Starting from the framework defined by Matveev and Shevchishin we derive the local and the global structure for the four types of super-integrable Koenigs metrics. These dynamical systems are always defined on non-compact manifolds, namely $\,{\mb R}^2\,$ and $\,{\mb H}^2$. The study of their geodesic flows is made easier using their linear and quadratic integrals. Using Carter (or minimal) quantization we show that the formal superintegrability is preserved at the quantum level and in two cases, for which all of the geodesics are closed, it is even possible to compute the discrete spectrum of…
A constructive procedure to obtain superintegrable deformations of the classical Smorodinsky-Winternitz Hamiltonian by using quantum deformations of its underlying Poisson sl(2) coalgebra symmetry is introduced. Through this example, the general connection between coalgebra symmetry and quasi-maximal superintegrability is analysed. The notion of comodule algebra symmetry is also shown to be applicable in order to construct new integrable deformations of certain Smorodinsky-Winternitz systems.
In this paper we try to find examples of integrable natural Hamiltonian systems on the sphere $S^2$ with the symmetries of each Platonic polyhedra. Although some of these systems are known, their expression is extremely complicated; we try here to find the simplest possible expressions for this kind of dynamical systems. Even in the simplest cases it is not easy to prove their integrability by direct computation of the first integrals, therefore, we make use of numerical methods to provide evidences of integrability; namely, by analyzing their Poincaré sections (surface sections). In this way …
A Carter like constant for the geodesic motion in the $Y(p,q)$ Einstein-Sasaki geometries is presented. This constant is functionally independent with respect to the five known constants for the geometry. Since the geometry is five dimensional and the number of independent constants of motion is at least six, the geodesic equations are superintegrable. We point out that this result applies to the configuration of massless geodesic in $AdS_5\times Y(p,q)$ studied by Benvenuti and Kruczenski, which are matched to long BPS operators in the dual N=1 supersymmetric gauge theory.
We prove the integrability and superintegrability of a family of natural Hamiltonians which includes and generalises those studied in some literature, originally defined on the 2D Minkowski space. Some of the new Hamiltonians are a perfect analogy of the well-known superintegrable system on the Euclidean plane proposed by Tremblay-Turbiner-Winternitz and they are defined on Minkowski space, as well as on all other 2D manifolds of constant curvature, Riemannian or pseudo-Riemannian. We show also how the application of the coupling-constant-metamorphosis technique allows us to obtain new superin…
Recently the authors and J.M. Kress presented a special function recurrence relation method to prove quantum superintegrability of an integrable 2D system that included explicit constructions of higher order symmetries and the structure relations for the closed algebra generated by these symmetries. We applied the method to 5 families of systems, each depending on a rational parameter k, including most notably the caged anisotropic oscillator, the Tremblay, Turbiner and Winternitz system and a deformed Kepler-Coulomb system. Here we work out the analogs of these constructions for all of the as…
Superintegrable systems are classical and quantum Hamiltonian systems which enjoy much symmetry and structure that permit their solubility via analytic and even, algebraic means. They include such well-known and important models as the Kepler potential, Calogero-Moser model, and harmonic oscillator, as well as its integrable perturbations, for example, the Smorodinsky-Winternitz (SW) potential. Normally, the problem of classification of superintegrable systems is approached by considering associated algebraic, or geometric structures. To this end we invoke the invariant theory of Killing tenso…
We consider one dimensional block cellular automata, where the local update rules are given by Yang-Baxter maps, which are set theoretical solutions of the Yang-Baxter equations. We show that such systems are superintegrable: they possess an exponentially large set of conserved local charges, such that the charge densities propagate ballistically on the chain. For these quantities we observe a complete absence of "operator spreading". In addition, the models can also have other local charges which are conserved only additively. We discuss concrete models up to local dimensions $N\le 4$, and sh…
It is natural to investigate if the quantization of an integrable or superintegrable classical Hamiltonian systems is still integrable or superintegrable. We study here this problem in the case of natural Hamiltonians with constants of motion quadratic in the momenta. The procedure of quantization here considered, transforms the Hamiltonian into the Laplace-Beltrami operator plus a scalar potential. In order to transform the constants of motion into symmetry operators of the quantum Hamiltonian, additional scalar potentials, known as quantum corrections, must be introduced, depending on the Ri…
The standard generators of tridiagonal algebras, recently introduced by Terwilliger, are shown to generate a new (in)finite family of mutually commuting operators which extends the Dolan-Grady construction. The involution property relies on the tridiagonal algebraic structure associated with a deformation parameter $q$. Representations are shown to be generated from a class of quadratic algebras, namely the reflection equations. The spectral problem is briefly discussed. Finally, related massive quantum integrable models are shown to be superintegrable.
The link between 3D spaces with (in general, non-constant) curvature and quantum deformations is presented. It is shown how the non-standard deformation of a sl(2) Poisson coalgebra generates a family of integrable Hamiltonians that represent geodesic motions on 3D manifolds with a non-constant curvature that turns out to be a function of the deformation parameter z. A different Hamiltonian defined on the same deformed coalgebra is also shown to generate a maximally superintegrable geodesic motion on 3D Riemannian and (2+1)D relativistic spaces whose sectional curvatures are all constant and e…
We split the generic conformal mechanical system into a "radial" and an "angular" part, where the latter is defined as the Hamiltonian system on the orbit of the conformal group, with the Casimir function in the role of the Hamiltonian. We reduce the analysis of the constants of motion of the full system to the study of certain differential equations on this orbit. For integrable mechanical systems, the conformal invariance renders them superintegrable, yielding an additional series of conserved quantities originally found by Wojciechowski in the rational Calogero model. Finally, we show that,…
An integrable generalization on the two-dimensional sphere S^2 and the hyperbolic plane H^2 of the Euclidean anisotropic oscillator Hamiltonian with "centrifugal" terms given by $H=1/2(p_1^2+p_2^2)+ δq_1^2+(δ+ Ω)q_2^2 +\frac{λ_1}{q_1^2}+\frac{λ_2}{q_2^2}$ is presented. The resulting generalized Hamiltonian H_κ depends explicitly on the constant Gaussian curvature κ of the underlying space, in such a way that all the results here presented hold simultaneously for S^2 (κ>0), H^2 (κ<0) and E^2 (κ=0). Moreover, H_κ is explicitly shown to be integrable for any values of the parameters δ, Ω, λ_1 and…
In this paper we present a novel construction of non-homogeneous hydrodynamic equations from what we call quasi-Stäckel systems, that is non-commutatively integrable systems constructed from appropriate maximally superintegrable Stäckel systems. We describe the relations between Poisson algebras generated by quasi-Stäckel Hamiltonians and the corresponding Lie algebras of vector fields of non-homogeneous hydrodynamic systems. We also apply Stäckel transform to obtain new non-homogeneous equations of considered type.
A family of classical integrable systems defined on a deformation of the two-dimensional sphere, hyperbolic and (anti-)de Sitter spaces is constructed through Hamiltonians defined on the non-standard quantum deformation of a sl(2) Poisson coalgebra. All these spaces have a non-constant curvature that depends on the deformation parameter z. As particular cases, the analogues of the harmonic oscillator and Kepler--Coulomb potentials on such spaces are proposed. Another deformed Hamiltonian is also shown to provide superintegrable systems on the usual sphere, hyperbolic and (anti-)de Sitter space…
Dynamics of a quantum system can be described by coupled Heisenberg equations. In a generic many-body system these equations form an exponentially large hierarchy that is intractable without approximations. In contrast, in an integrable system a small subset of operators can be closed with respect to commutation with the Hamiltonian. As a result, the Heisenberg equations for these operators can form a smaller closed system amenable to an analytical treatment. We demonstrate that this indeed happens in a class of integrable models where the Hamiltonian is an element of the Onsager algebra. We e…
The problem of classification of the Einstein--Friedman cosmological Hamiltonians $H$ with a single scalar inflaton field $φ$ that possess an additional integral of motion polynomial in momenta on the shell of the Friedman constraint $H=0$ is considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of first, second, and third degree integrals are derived. These conditions have the form of ODEs for the cosmological potential $V(φ)$. In the case of linear and quadratic integrals we find general solutions of the ODEs and construct the corresponding integrals explicitly. A new wide class …
The concept of extended Hamiltonian systems allows the geometrical interpretation of several integrable and superintegrable systems with polynomial first integrals of degree depending on a rational parameter. Until now, the procedure of extension has been applied only in the case of natural Hamiltonians. In this article, we give several examples of application to non-natural Hamiltonians, such as the two point-vortices, the Lotka-Volterra and some quartic in the momenta Hamiltonians, obtaining effectively extended Hamiltonians in some cases and failing in others. We briefly discuss the reasons…
In this paper, we investigate the main algebraic properties of the maximally superintegrable system known as "Perlick system type I". All possible values of the relevant parameters, $K$ and $β$, are considered. In particular, depending on the sign of the parameter $K$ entering in the metrics, the motion will take place on compact or non compact Riemannian manifolds. To perform our analysis we follow a classical variant of the so called factorization method. Accordingly, we derive the full set of constants of motion and construct their Poisson algebra. As it is expected for maximally superinteg…
We prove that the cosine law for spherical triangles and spherical tetrahedra defines integrable systems, both in the sense of multidimensional consistency and in the sense of dynamical systems.
We discuss a general approach permitting the identification of a broad class of sets of Poisson-commuting Hamiltonians, which are integrable in the sense of Liouville. It is shown that all such Hamiltonians can be solved explicitly by a separation of variables {\em Ansatz}. The method leads in particular to a proof that the so-called "goldfish" Hamiltonian is maximally superintegrable, and leads to an elementary identification of a full set of integrals of motion. The Hamiltonians in involution with the "goldfish" Hamiltonian are also explicitly integrated. New integrable Hamiltonians are iden…
We develop the theory of Whitham type hierarchies integrable by hydrodynamic reductions as a theory of certain differential-geometric objects. As an application we construct Gibbons-Tsarev systems associated to moduli space of algebraic curves of arbitrary genus and prove that the universal Whitham hierarchy is integrable by hydrodynamic reductions.
We derive a dispersionless integrable system describing a local form of a general three-dimensional Einstein-Weyl geometry with an Euclidean (positive) signature, construct its matrix extension and demonstrate that it leads to the Bogomolny equations for a non-abelian monopole on an Einstein-Weyl geometry background. The corresponding dispersionless integrable hierarchy, its matrix extension and the dressing scheme are also considered.
We discuss a relation between bicomplexes and integrable models, and consider corresponding noncommutative (Moyal) deformations. As an example, a noncommutative version of a Toda field theory is presented.
We give a series of integrable top equations associated with the projective geometry over Z_2 as a (2^n-1)-dimensional generalisation of the 3D Euler top equations. The general solution of the (2^n-1)D top is shown to be given by an integration over a Riemann surface with genus (2^{n-1}-1)^2.
We show that the theory of classical Hamiltonian systems admitting separating variables can be formulated in the context of ($ω, \mathscr{H}$) structures. They are symplectic manifolds endowed with a compatible Haantjes algebra $\mathscr{H}$, namely an algebra of (1,1)-tensor fields with vanishing Haantjes torsion. A special class of coordinates, called Darboux-Haantjes coordinates, will be constructed from the Haantjes algebras associated with a separable system. These coordinates enable the additive separation of variables of the corresponding Hamilton-Jacobi equation. We shall prove that a …
The box-ball system is an integrable cellular automaton on one dimensional lattice. It arises from either quantum or classical integrable systems by the procedures called crystallization and ultradiscretization, respectively. The double origin of the integrability has endowed the box-ball system with a variety of aspects related to Yang-Baxter integrable models in statistical mechanics, crystal base theory in quantum groups, combinatorial Bethe ansatz, geometric crystals, classical theory of solitons, tau functions, inverse scattering method, action-angle variables and invariant tori in comple…
The aim of these notes is to provide a reasonably short and "hands-on" introduction to the differential calculus on associative algebras over a field of characteristic zero. Following a suggestion of Ginzburg's we call the resulting theory associative geometry. We argue that this formalism sheds a new light on some classic solution methods in the theory of finite-dimensional integrable dynamical systems.
In this paper we study generalized classes of volume preserving multidimensional integrable systems via Nambu-Poisson mechanics. These integrable systems belong to the same class of dispersionless KP type equation. Hence they bear a close resemblance to the self dual Einstein equation. Recently Takasaki-Takebe provided the twistor construction of dispersionless KP and dToda type equations by using the Gindikin's pencil of two forms. In this paper we generalize this twistor construction to our systems.
Due to Poinsot's theorem, the motion of a rigid body about a fixed point is represented as rolling without slipping of the moving hodograph of the angular velocity over the fixed one. If the moving hodograph is a closed curve, visualization of motion is obtained by the method of P.V.Kharlamov. For an arbitrary motion in an integrable problem with an axially symmetric force field the moving hodograph densely fills some two-dimensional surface and the fixed one fills a three-dimensional surface. In this paper, we consider the irreducible integrable case in which both hodographs are two-frequency…
