We prove several Liouville theorems for F-harmonic maps from some complete Riemannian manifolds by assuming some conditions on the Hessian of the distance function, the degrees of F(t) and the asymptotic behavior of the map at infinity. In particular, the results can be applied to F-harmonic maps from some pinched manifolds, and can deduce a Bernstein type result for an entire minimal graph.
In this paper, we will use the normalized intetral Ricci curvature to investigate Liouville type property of $ p $ harmonic function on Riemannian manifold. secondly, we will use the BiRic curvature to obtian Liuville theorem for $ p $ harmonic function or $ p $ harmonic 1 form. Lastly, we we will use the BiRic curvature to obtian Liouville theorem forharmonic $ q(q\geq 2)$ form.
In this paper, we mainly study Liouville theorem of V T harmonic map from complete noncompact manifold into horoball in Cartan-Hardmard manifold. To this aim, we will establish gradient estimates under some condition on and V and T.
We study harmonic map heat flow along ancient super Ricci flow, and derive several Liouville theorems with controlled growth from Perelman's reduced geometric viewpoint. For non-positively curved target spaces, our growth condition is sharp. For positively curved target spaces, our Liouville theorem is new even in the static case (i.e., for harmonic maps); moreover, we point out that the growth condition can be improved, and almost sharp in the static case. This fills the gap between the Liouville theorem of Choi and the example constructed by Schoen-Uhlenbeck.
In this paper, we first obtain an $L^q$ gradient estimate for $p$-harmonic maps, by assuming the target manifold supporting a certain function, whose gradient and Hessian satisfy some analysis conditions. From this $L^q$ gradient estimate, we get a corresponding Liouville type result for $p$-harmonic maps. Secondly, using these general results, we give various geometric applications to $p$-harmonic maps from complete manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature to manifolds with various upper bound on sectional curvature, under appropriate controlled images.
In this paper, we mainly derive monotonicity formula of generalized map using conservation law, including $ϕ$-$F$ harmonic map coupled with $ϕ$-$F$ symphonic map with $m$ form and potential from metric measure space, $ p $ harmonic map with potential , $ V $ harmonic map with potential. As an corollary, we can derive Liouville theorem for these maps under some finite energy conditons. We also get Liouville type theorem for $ϕ$-$F$ harmonic map coupled with $ϕ$-$F$ symphonic map under asymptotic conditon on metric measure space. We also get Liouville theorem for $ϕ$-$F$-$V$-harmonic maps in ter…
We study analytic properties of harmonic maps from Riemannian polyhedra into CAT($κ$) spaces for $κ\in\{0,1\}$. Locally, on each top-dimensional face of the domain, this amounts to studying harmonic maps from smooth domains into CAT($κ$) spaces. We compute a target variation formula that captures the curvature bound in the target, and use it to prove an $L^p$ Liouville-type theorem for harmonic maps from admissible polyhedra into convex CAT($κ$) spaces. Another consequence we derive from the target variation formula is the Eells-Sampson Bochner formula for CAT(1) targets.
In this paper we consider harmonic functions on gradient shrinking Ricci solitons with constant scalar curvature. A Liouville theorem is proved without using gradient estimate : any bounded harmonic function is constant on gradient shrinking Ricci solitons with constant scalar curvature. As an application, we show that the space of harmonic functions with polynomial growth has finite dimension.
In this article, we prove a Liouville property of holomorphic maps from a complete Kahler manifold with nonnegative holomorphic bisectional curvature to a complete simply connected Kahler manifold with a certain assumption on the sectional curvature.
We introduce and study an approximate solution of the p-Laplace equation, and a linearlization $L_ε$ of a perturbed p-Laplace operator. By deriving an $L_ε$-type Bochner's formula and a Kato type inequality, we prove a Liouville type theorem for weakly p-harmonic functions with finite p-energy on a complete noncompact manifold M which supports a weighted Poincaré inequality and satisfies a curvature assumption. This nonexistence result, when combined with an existence theorem, yields in turn some information on topology, i.e. such an M has at most one p-hyperbolic end. Moreover, we prove a Lio…
In this paper, we study $(\mathcal F,\mathcal F')_{p}$-harmonic maps between foliated Riemannian manifolds $(M,g,\mathcal F)$ and $(M',g',\mathcal F')$. A $(\mathcal F,\mathcal F')_{p}$-harmonic map $ϕ:(M,g,\mathcal F)\to (M', g',\mathcal F')$ is a critical point of the transversal $p$-energy functional $E_{B,p}$. Trivially, $(\mathcal F,\mathcal F')_2$-harmonic map is $(\mathcal F,\mathcal F')$-harmonic map, which is a critical point of $E_B$. There is another definition of a harmonic map on foliated Riemannian manifolds, called transversally harmonic map, which is a solution of the Euler-Lar…
If the Killing vector field in a Riemannian manifold is the gradient of a smooth real valued function, then it is called Killing potential. In this paper we have deduced a necessary condition for the existence of Killing potential in a complete Riemannian manifold. Yau proved the Liouville theorem of harmonic function in a Riemannian manifold using gradient estimation and after that many authors have generalized this concept and investigated various types of Liouville theorems of harmonic functions. In this article we have also proved a Liouville theorem in integral form of harmonic functions …
In this paper, we derive a sub-gradient estimate for pseudoharmonic maps from noncompact complete Sasakian manifolds which satisfy CR sub-Laplace comparison property, to simply-connected Riemannian manifolds with nonpositive sectional curvature. As its application, we obtain some Liouville theorems for pseudoharmonic maps. In the Appendix, we modify the method and apply it to harmonic maps from noncompact complete Sasakian manifolds.
In this paper, we introduce a Liouville action for a harmonic diffeomorphism from a compact Riemann surface to a compact hyperbolic Riemann surface of genus $g\ge 2$. We derive the variational formula of this Liouville action for harmonic diffeomorphisms when the source Riemann surfaces vary with a fixed target Riemann surface.
In this paper, we study harmonic functions on weighted manifolds and harmonic maps from weighted manifolds into Hadamard spaces introduced by Korevaar and Schoen. We prove Liouville theorems for these harmonic maps with finite energy.
We prove a Liouville property for any $f$-harmonic function with polynomial growth on a complete noncompact smooth metric measure space $(M,g,e^{-f}dv)$ when the Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature is nonnegative and its diameter of geodesic sphere has sublinear growth.
Let $P(M,G)$ be a principal fiber bundle and $E(M,N,G,P)$ be an associate fiber bundle. Our interested is to study harmonic sections of the projection $π_{E}$ of $E$ into $M$. Our first purpose is to give a stochastic characterization of harmonic section from $M$ into $E$ and a geometric characterization of harmonic sections with respect to its equivariant lift. The second purpose is to show a version of Liouville theorem for harmonic sections and to prove that section $M$ into $E$ is a harmonic section if and only if it is parallel.
Let $u: (M, g)\to (N, h)$ be a map between Riemannian manifolds $(M, g)$ and $(N, h)$. The $p$-bienergy of $u$ is defined by $E_p(u)=\int_M|τ(u)|^pdν_g$, where $τ(u)$ is the tension field of $u$ and $p>1$. Critical points of $E_p(\cdot)$ are called $p$-biharmonic maps. In this paper we will prove nonexistence result of proper $p$-biharmonic maps when $p\geq2$. In particular when $M=\mathbb{R}^m$, we get Liouville type results under proper integral conditions , which extend the related results of Baird, Fardoun and Ouakkas \cite{BFO}.
In this paper, we study volume growth, Liouville theorem and the local gradient estimate for $f$-harmonic functions, and volume comparison property of unit balls in complete noncompact gradient Ricci shrinkers. We also study integral properties of f-harmonic functions and harmonic functions on such manifolds.
We show that the Dirichlet problem at infinity is unsolvable for the p-Laplace equation for any nonconstant continuous boundary data, for certain range of p>n, on an n-dimensional Cartan-Hadamard manifold constructed from a complete noncompact shrinking gradient Ricci soliton. Using the steady gradient Ricci soliton, we find an incomplete Riemannian metric on ${\mathbb R}^2$ with positive Gauss curvature such that every positive p-harmonic function must be constant for $p\geq 4$.
We prove that there does not exist non-constant positive $f$-harmonic function on the complete gradient shrinking Ricci solitons. We also prove the $L^{p}(p\geq 1 \ {\rm or}\ 0<p\leq 1)$ Liouville theorems on the complete gradient shrinking Ricci solitons.
We prove some Liouville type results for generalized holomorphic maps in three classes: maps from pseudo-Hermitian manifolds to almost Hermitian manifolds, maps from almost Hermitian manifolds to pseudo-Hermitian manifolds and maps from pseudo-Hermitian manifolds to pseudo-Hermitian manifolds, assuming that the domains are compact. For instance, we show that any $(J,J^N)$ holomorphic map from a compact pseudo-Hermitian manifold $M$ with nonnegative (resp. positive) pseudo-Hermitian sectional curvature to an almost Hermitian manifold $N$ with negative (resp. nonpositive) holomorphic sectional c…
We prove a Liouville-type theorem for biharmonic maps from a complete Riemannian manifold of dimension \(n\) that has a lower bound on its Ricci curvature and positive injectivity radius into a Riemannian manifold whose sectional curvature is bounded from above. Under these geometric assumptions we show that if the $L^p$-norm of the tension field is bounded and the $n$-energy of the map is sufficiently small then every biharmonic map must be harmonic, where \(2<p<n\).
In this paper, we investigate subelliptic harmonic maps with potential from noncompact complete sub-Riemannian manifolds corresponding to totally geodesic Riemannian foliations. Under some suitable conditions, we give the gradient estimates of these maps and establish a Liouville type result.
We study a generalized functional related to the pullback metrics (3). We derive the first variation formula which yield stationary maps. We introduce the stress-energy tensor which is naturally linked to conservation law and yield monotonicity formula via the coarea formula and comparison theorem in Riemannian geometry. A version of this monotonicity inequalities enables us to derive some Liouville type results. Also we investigate the constant Dirichlet boundary value problems and the generalized Chern type results for tension field equation with respect to this functional.
In this paper, we shall prove that a harmonic map from $\mathbb{C}^{n}$ ($n\geq2$) to any Kahler manifold must be holomorphic under an assumption of energy density. It can be considered as a complex analogue of the Liouville type theorem for harmonic maps obtained by Sealey.
In this paper, we will give a horizontal gradient estimate of positive solutions of $Δ_b u = - λu$ on complete noncompact pseudo-Hermitian manifolds. As a consequence, we recapture the Liouville theorem of positive pseudo-harmonic functions on Sasakian manifolds with nonnegative pseudo-Hermitian Ricci curvature.
L. Capogna and M. Cowling showed that if $ϕ$ is 1-quasiconformal on an open subset of a Carnot group G, then composition with $ϕ$ preserves Q-harmonic functions, where Q denotes the homogeneous dimension of G. Then they combine this with a regularity theorem for Q-harmonic functions to show that $ϕ$ is in fact $C^\infty$. As an application, they observe that a Liouville type theorem holds for some Carnot groups of step 2. In this article we argue, using the Engel group as an example, that a Liouville type theorem can be proved for every Carnot group. Indeed, the fact that 1-quasiconformal maps…
In the paper, we study variation formulas for transversally harmonic maps and bi-harmonic maps, respectively. We also study the transversal Jacobi field along a map and give several relations with infinitesimal automorphisms.
In this paper, we study the existence of harmonic and bi-harmonic maps into Riemannian manifolds admitting a conformal vector field, or a nontrivial Ricci solitons.
In this paper, we will study harmonic functions on the complete and incomplete spaces with nonnegative Ricci curvature which exhibit inhomogeneous collapsing behaviors at infinity. The main result states that any nonconstant harmonic function on such spaces yields a definite exponential growth rate which depends explicitly on the geometric data at infinity.
J. Eells and L. Lemaire introduced k-harmonic maps, and Wang Shaobo showed the first variational formula. When, k=2, it is called biharmonic maps (2-harmonic maps). There have been extensive studies in the area. In this paper, we consider the relationship between biharmonic maps and k-harmonic maps, and show non-existence theorem of 3-harmonic maps. We also give the definition of k-harmonic submanifolds of Euclidean spaces, and study k-harmonic curve in Euclidean spaces. Futhermore, we give a conjecture for k-harmonic submanifolds of Euclidean spaces.
Both bi-harmonic map and $f$-harmonic map have nice physical motivation and applications. In this paper, by combination of these two harmonic maps, we introduce and study $f$-bi-harmonic maps as the critical points of the $f$-bi-energy functional $\frac{1}{2}\int_M f|τ(ϕ)|^2dv_{g}$. This class of maps generalizes both concepts of harmonic maps and bi-harmonic maps. We first derive the $f$-biharmonic map equation and then use it to study $f$-bi-harmonicity of some special maps, including conformal maps between manifolds of same dimensions, some product maps between direct product manifold and s…
In this note, we investigate estimates of the Morse index for F-harmonic maps into spheres, our results extend partially those obtained in ([14]) and ([15]) for harmonic and p-harmonic maps.
Conformal harmonic maps from a 4-dimensional conformal manifold to a Riemannian manifold are maps satisfying a certain conformally invariant fourth order equation. We prove a general existence result for conformal harmonic maps, analogous to the Eells-Sampson theorem for harmonic maps. The proof uses a geometric flow and relies on results of Gursky-Viaclovsky and Lamm.
In this paper, we extend the definition of p-harmonic and p-biharmonic maps between Riemannian manifolds. We present some new properties for the generalized stable p-harmonic maps.
$α$-Dirac-harmonic maps are variations of Dirac-harmonic maps, analogous to $α$-harmonic maps that were introduced by Sacks-Uhlenbeck to attack the existence problem for harmonic maps from surfaces. For $α>1$, the latter are known to satisfy a Palais-Smale condtion, and so, the technique of Sacks-Uhlenbeck consists in constructing $α$-harmonic maps for $α>1$ and then letting $α\to 1$. The extension of this scheme to Dirac-harmonic maps meets with several difficulties, and in this paper, we start attacking those. We first prove the existence of nontrivial perturbed $α$-Dirac-harmonic maps when …
For smooth metric measure spaces $(M, g, e^{-f} dvol)$ we prove a Liuoville-type theorem when the Bakry-Emery Ricci tensor is nonnegative. This generalizes a result of Yau, which is recovered in the case $f$ is constant. This result follows from a gradient estimate for f-harmonic functions on smooth metric measure spaces with Bakry-Emery Ricci tensor bounded from below.
The CR analogue of B.-Y. Chen's conjecture on pseudo biharmonic maps will be shown. Pseudo biharmonic, but not pseudo harmonic, isometric immersions with parallel pseudo mean curvature vector fields, will be characterized. Several examples of pseudo biharmonic maps will be given.
In this note, we show that some F-harmonic maps into spheres are global maxima of the variations of their energy functional on the conformal group of the sphere. Our result extends partially those obtained in [15] and [17] for harmonic and p-harmonic maps.
