In this article, we prove a Liouville property of holomorphic maps from a complete Kahler manifold with nonnegative holomorphic bisectional curvature to a complete simply connected Kahler manifold with a certain assumption on the sectional curvature.
We derive some consequences of the Liouville theorem for plurisubharmonic functions of L.-F. Tam and the author. The first result provides a nonlinear version of the complex splitting theorem (which splits off a factor of $\mathbb{C}$ isometrically from the simply-connected Kähler manifold with nonnegative bisectional curvature and a linear growth holomorphic function) of L.-F. Tam and the author. The second set of results concerns the so-called $k$-hyperbolicity and its connection with the negativity of the $k$-scalar curvature (when $k=1$ they are the negativity of holomorphic sectional curv…
We prove some Liouville type results for generalized holomorphic maps in three classes: maps from pseudo-Hermitian manifolds to almost Hermitian manifolds, maps from almost Hermitian manifolds to pseudo-Hermitian manifolds and maps from pseudo-Hermitian manifolds to pseudo-Hermitian manifolds, assuming that the domains are compact. For instance, we show that any $(J,J^N)$ holomorphic map from a compact pseudo-Hermitian manifold $M$ with nonnegative (resp. positive) pseudo-Hermitian sectional curvature to an almost Hermitian manifold $N$ with negative (resp. nonpositive) holomorphic sectional c…
In this paper, we prove a Liouville theorem for holomorphic functions on a class of complete Gauduchon manifolds. This generalizes a result of Yau for complete Kähler manifolds to the complete non-Kähler case.
In this paper, we derive a sub-gradient estimate for pseudoharmonic maps from noncompact complete Sasakian manifolds which satisfy CR sub-Laplace comparison property, to simply-connected Riemannian manifolds with nonpositive sectional curvature. As its application, we obtain some Liouville theorems for pseudoharmonic maps. In the Appendix, we modify the method and apply it to harmonic maps from noncompact complete Sasakian manifolds.
We prove several Liouville theorems for F-harmonic maps from some complete Riemannian manifolds by assuming some conditions on the Hessian of the distance function, the degrees of F(t) and the asymptotic behavior of the map at infinity. In particular, the results can be applied to F-harmonic maps from some pinched manifolds, and can deduce a Bernstein type result for an entire minimal graph.
In this paper, we first obtain an $L^q$ gradient estimate for $p$-harmonic maps, by assuming the target manifold supporting a certain function, whose gradient and Hessian satisfy some analysis conditions. From this $L^q$ gradient estimate, we get a corresponding Liouville type result for $p$-harmonic maps. Secondly, using these general results, we give various geometric applications to $p$-harmonic maps from complete manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature to manifolds with various upper bound on sectional curvature, under appropriate controlled images.
In this paper, we mainly derive monotonicity formula of generalized map using conservation law, including $ϕ$-$F$ harmonic map coupled with $ϕ$-$F$ symphonic map with $m$ form and potential from metric measure space, $ p $ harmonic map with potential , $ V $ harmonic map with potential. As an corollary, we can derive Liouville theorem for these maps under some finite energy conditons. We also get Liouville type theorem for $ϕ$-$F$ harmonic map coupled with $ϕ$-$F$ symphonic map under asymptotic conditon on metric measure space. We also get Liouville theorem for $ϕ$-$F$-$V$-harmonic maps in ter…
We introduce holomorphic Riemannian maps between almost Hermitian manifolds as a generalization of holomorphic submanifolds and holomorphic submersions, give examples and obtain a geometric characterization of harmonic holomorphic Riemannian maps from almost Hermitian manifolds to Kaehler manifolds.
We study analytic properties of harmonic maps from Riemannian polyhedra into CAT($κ$) spaces for $κ\in\{0,1\}$. Locally, on each top-dimensional face of the domain, this amounts to studying harmonic maps from smooth domains into CAT($κ$) spaces. We compute a target variation formula that captures the curvature bound in the target, and use it to prove an $L^p$ Liouville-type theorem for harmonic maps from admissible polyhedra into convex CAT($κ$) spaces. Another consequence we derive from the target variation formula is the Eells-Sampson Bochner formula for CAT(1) targets.
Our goal is to combine the techniques of Xiaokui Yang, Valentino Tosatti, and others to establish a Liouville-type result for almost complex manifolds. The transition to the non-integrable setting is delicate, so we will devote a section to discuss the key differences, and another to introduce the tools we will be using. Afterwards, we present a proof of our main theorem.
Let $u: (M, g)\to (N, h)$ be a map between Riemannian manifolds $(M, g)$ and $(N, h)$. The $p$-bienergy of $u$ is defined by $E_p(u)=\int_M|τ(u)|^pdν_g$, where $τ(u)$ is the tension field of $u$ and $p>1$. Critical points of $E_p(\cdot)$ are called $p$-biharmonic maps. In this paper we will prove nonexistence result of proper $p$-biharmonic maps when $p\geq2$. In particular when $M=\mathbb{R}^m$, we get Liouville type results under proper integral conditions , which extend the related results of Baird, Fardoun and Ouakkas \cite{BFO}.
Harmonicity of holomorphic maps between various subclasses of almost contact metric manifolds is discussed. Consequently, some new results are obtained. Also some known results are recovered, some of them are generalized and some of them are corrected.
We introduce and study an approximate solution of the p-Laplace equation, and a linearlization $L_ε$ of a perturbed p-Laplace operator. By deriving an $L_ε$-type Bochner's formula and a Kato type inequality, we prove a Liouville type theorem for weakly p-harmonic functions with finite p-energy on a complete noncompact manifold M which supports a weighted Poincaré inequality and satisfies a curvature assumption. This nonexistence result, when combined with an existence theorem, yields in turn some information on topology, i.e. such an M has at most one p-hyperbolic end. Moreover, we prove a Lio…
We derive some integral inequalities for holomorphic maps between complex manifolds. As applications, some rigidity and degeneracy theorems for holomorphic maps without assuming any pointwise curvature signs for both the domain and target manifolds are proved, in which key roles are played by total integration of the function of the first eigenvalue of second Ricci curvature and an almost nonpositivity notion for holomorphic sectional curvature introduced in our previous work. We also apply these integral inequalities to discuss the infinite-time singularity type of the Kähler-Ricci flow. The …
We give conditions on the Lee vector field of an almost Hermitian manifold such that any holomorphic map from this manifold into a (1,2)-symplectic manifold must satisfy the fourth-order condition of being biharmonic, hence generalizing the Lichnerowicz theorem on harmonic maps. These third-order non-linear conditions are shown to greatly simplify on l.c.K. manifolds and construction methods and examples are given in all dimensions.
In this paper, we study harmonic functions on weighted manifolds and harmonic maps from weighted manifolds into Hadamard spaces introduced by Korevaar and Schoen. We prove Liouville theorems for these harmonic maps with finite energy.
In this paper, we study $(\mathcal F,\mathcal F')_{p}$-harmonic maps between foliated Riemannian manifolds $(M,g,\mathcal F)$ and $(M',g',\mathcal F')$. A $(\mathcal F,\mathcal F')_{p}$-harmonic map $ϕ:(M,g,\mathcal F)\to (M', g',\mathcal F')$ is a critical point of the transversal $p$-energy functional $E_{B,p}$. Trivially, $(\mathcal F,\mathcal F')_2$-harmonic map is $(\mathcal F,\mathcal F')$-harmonic map, which is a critical point of $E_B$. There is another definition of a harmonic map on foliated Riemannian manifolds, called transversally harmonic map, which is a solution of the Euler-Lar…
We investigate Liouville theorems and dimension estimates for the space of exponentially growing holomorphic functions on complete Kähler manifolds. While our work is motivated by the study of gradient Ricci solitons in the theory of Ricci flow, the most general results we prove here do not require any knowledge of curvature.
We prove Liouville theorems for Dirac-harmonic maps from the Euclidean space $\R^n$, the hyperbolic space $\H^n$ and a Riemannian manifold $\mathfrak{S^n}$ ($n\geq 3$) with the Schwarzschild metric to any Riemannian manifold $N$.
In this paper, we consider some generalized holomorphic maps between pseudo-Hermitian manifolds and Hermitian manifolds. By Bochner formulas and comparison theorems, we establish related Schwarz type results. As corollaries, Liouville theorem and little Picard theorem for basic CR functions are deduced. Finally, we study CR Carathéodory pseudodistance on CR manifolds.
In this paper, we study deformations of holomorphic Poisson maps which extend Horikawa's series of papers on deformations of holomorphic maps in the context of holomorphic Poisson deformations. In appendices, we present deformations of Poisson morphisms in the language of functors of Artin rings which is the algebraic version of deformations of holomorphic Poisson maps. We identity first-order deformations and obstructions.
We prove a Liouville-type theorem for biharmonic maps from a complete Riemannian manifold of dimension \(n\) that has a lower bound on its Ricci curvature and positive injectivity radius into a Riemannian manifold whose sectional curvature is bounded from above. Under these geometric assumptions we show that if the $L^p$-norm of the tension field is bounded and the $n$-energy of the map is sufficiently small then every biharmonic map must be harmonic, where \(2<p<n\).
We study a generalized functional related to the pullback metrics (3). We derive the first variation formula which yield stationary maps. We introduce the stress-energy tensor which is naturally linked to conservation law and yield monotonicity formula via the coarea formula and comparison theorem in Riemannian geometry. A version of this monotonicity inequalities enables us to derive some Liouville type results. Also we investigate the constant Dirichlet boundary value problems and the generalized Chern type results for tension field equation with respect to this functional.
In this paper, we examine holomorphic Segre preserving maps between the complexifications of real hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{C}^{n+1}$. In particular, we find several sufficient conditions ensuring that Segre transversality and total Segre nondegeneracy of the maps must hold.
In this paper, we introduce the stress-energy tensors of the partial energies E'(f) and E"(f) of maps between Kaehler manifolds. Assuming the domain manifolds poss some special exhaustion functions, we use these stress-energy tensors to establish some monotonicity formulae of the partial energies of pluriharmonic maps into any Kaehler manifolds and harmonic maps into Kaehler manifolds with strongly semi-negative curvature respectively. These monotonicity inequalities enable us to derive some holomorphicity and Liouville type results for these pluriharmonic maps and harmonic maps. We also use t…
We study proper holomorphic maps between bounded symmetric domains $D$ and $Ω$. In particular, when $D$ and $Ω$ are of the same rank $\ge 2$ such that all irreducible factors of $D$ are of rank $\ge 2$, we prove that any proper holomorphic map from $D$ to $Ω$ is a totally geodesic holomorphic isometric embedding with respect to certain canonical Kähler metrics of $D$ and $Ω$. We also obtain some results regarding holomorphic maps $F:D\to Ω$ which map minimal disks of $D$ properly into rank-$1$ characteristic symmetric subspaces of $Ω$. On the other hand, we obtain new rigidity results regardin…
In this paper we establish two boundary versions of the Schwarz lemma. The first is for general holomorphic self maps of bounded convex domains with $C^2$ boundary. This appears to be the first boundary Schwarz lemma for general holomorphic self maps that requires no strong pseudoconvexity or finite type assumptions. The second is for biholomorphisms of domains who have an invariant Kähler metric with bounded sectional curvature. This second result applies to holomorphic homogeneous regular domains and appears to be the first boundary Schwarz lemma that makes no assumptions on the regularity o…
Every oriented 4-manifold admits a folded symplectic structure, which in turn determines a homotopy class of compatible almost complex structures that are discontinuous across the folding hypersurface ("fold") in a controlled fashion. We define folded holomorphic maps, i.e. pseudo-holomorphic maps that are discontinuous across the fold. The boundary values on the fold are mediated by tunneling maps which are punctured H-holomorphic maps into the folding hypersurface with prescribed asymptotics on closed characteristics. Our main result is that the linearized operator of this boundary value pro…
Let $M$ be a $n$-dimensional complex manifold and $f,g:M\to M$ two distinct holomorphic self-maps. Suppose that $f$ and $g$ coincide on a globally irreducible compact hypersurface $S\subset M$. We show that if one of the two maps is a local biholomorphism around $S'=S-\text{Sing}(S)$ and, if needed, $S'$ sits into $M$ in a particular nice way, then it is possible to define a $1$-dimensional holomorphic (possibly singular) foliation on $S'$ and partial holomorphic connections on certain holomorphic vector bundles on $S'$. As a consequence, we are able to localize suitable characteristic classes…
We investigate nicely embedded H--holomorphic maps into stable Hamiltonian three--manifolds. In particular we prove that such maps locally foliate and satisfy a no--first--intersection property. Using the compactness results of arXiv:0904.1603 we show that connected components of the space of such maps can be compactified if they contain a global surface of section. As an application we prove that any contact structure on a 3--manifold admits and H--holomorphic open book decomposition. This work is motivated by the program laid out by Abbas, Cieliebak and Hofer to give a proof to the Weinstein…
H-holomorphic maps are a parameter version of J-holomorphic maps into contact manifolds. They have arisen in efforts to prove the existence of higher--genus holomorphic open book decompositions and efforts to prove the existence of finite energy foliations and the Weinstein conjecture, as well as in folded holomorphic maps. For all these applications it is essential to understand the compactness properties of the space of H-holomorphic maps. We prove that the space of H-holomorphic maps with bounded periods into a manifold with stable Hamiltonian structure possesses a natural compactification.…
We introduce a natural notion of holomorphic map between generalized complex manifolds and we prove some related results on Dirac structures and generalized Kaehler manifolds.
In this paper, we will establish the inequivalence of closed balls and the closure of open balls under the Carathéodory metric in some planar domains of finite connectivity greater than $2$, and hence resolve a problem posed by Jarnicki, Pflug and Vigué in 1992. We also establish a corresponding result for some pseudoconvex domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$ for $n \ge 2$. This result will follow from an explicit characterization (up to biholomorphisms) of proper holomorphic maps from a non-degenerate finitely-connected planar domain, $Ω$, onto the standard unit disk $\mathbb{D}$ which answers a questi…
In this paper, we explore holomorphic Segre preserving maps. First, we investigate holomorphic Segre preserving maps sending the complexification $\mathcal{M}$ of a generic real analytic submanifold $M \subseteq \C^N$ of finite type at some point $p$ into the complexification $\mathcal{M}'$ of a generic real analytic submanifold $M' \subseteq \C^{N'}$, finitely nondegenerate at some point $p'$. We prove that for a fixed $M$ and $M'$, the germs at $(p,\bar{p})$ of Segre submersive holomorphic Segre preserving maps sending $(\M,(p,\bar{p}))$ into $(\M',(p', \bar{p}'))$ can be parametrized by the…
Let $M$ and $N$ be two compact complex manifolds. We show that if the tautological line bundle $\mathscr{O}_{T_M^*}(1)$ is not pseudo-effective and $\mathscr{O}_{T_N^*}(1)$ is nef, then there is no non-constant holomorphic map from $M$ to $N$. In particular, we prove that any holomorphic map from a compact complex manifold $M$ with RC-positive tangent bundle to a compact complex manifold $N$ with nef cotangent bundle must be a constant map. As an application, we obtain that there is no non-constant holomorphic map from a compact Hermitian manifold with positive holomorphic sectional curvature …
We show that conformally compact, globally hyperbolic, Lorentzian Einstein-Weyl 3-manifolds are in natural one-to-one correspondence with orientation-reversing diffeomorphisms of the 2-sphere. The proof hinges on a holomorphic-disk analog of Hitchin's mini-twistor correspondence.
Dirac-harmonic maps are critical points of a fermionic action functional, generalizing the Dirichlet energy for harmonic maps. We consider the case where the source manifold is a closed Riemann surface with the canonical Spin^c-structure determined by the complex structure and the target space is a Kaehler manifold. If the underlying map f is a J-holomorphic curve, we determine a space of spinors on the Riemann surface which form Dirac-harmonic maps together with f. For suitable complex structures on the target manifold the tangent bundle to the moduli space of J-holomorphic curves consists of…
