We prove a Liouville theorem for the plurisubharmonic functions on complete Kaelher manifolds. As the applications, we prove a splitting theorem for complete Kaehler manifolds with nonnegative biscetional curvature in terms of the linear growth harmonic functions and a optomal gap theorem for such manifolds.
We prove a linear trace Li-Yau-Hamilton inequality for the Kaehler-Ricci flow. We then use this sharp differential inequality to study the Liouville properties of the plurisubharmonic functions on complete Kaehler manifolds with nonnegative bisectional curvature.
In this paper, we study global properties of continuous plurisubharmonic functions on complete noncompact Kähler manifolds with nonnegative bisectional curvature and their applications to the structure of such manifolds. We prove that continuous plurisubharmonic functions with reasonable growth rate on such manifolds can be approximated by smooth plurisubharmonic functions through the heat flow deformation. Optimal Liouville type theorem for the plurisubharmonic functions as well as a splitting theorem in terms of harmonic functions and holomorphic functions are established. The results are th…
Let $f$ be a smooth plurisubharmonic function which solves $$ \det(f_{i\bar j})=1\;\;\;\;\;\;\mbox{in }Ω\subset \mathbb C^n.$$ Suppose that the metric $ω_{f}=\sqrt{-1}f_{i\bar j}dz_{i}\wedge d\bar z_{j}$ is complete and $f$ satisfies the growth condition $$ C^{-1}(1+|z|^2)\leq f\leq C(1+ |z|^2),\;\;\;\; as\;\;\; |z|\to \infty. $$ for some $C>0,$ then $f$ is quadratic.
We derive some consequences of the Liouville theorem for plurisubharmonic functions of L.-F. Tam and the author. The first result provides a nonlinear version of the complex splitting theorem (which splits off a factor of $\mathbb{C}$ isometrically from the simply-connected Kähler manifold with nonnegative bisectional curvature and a linear growth holomorphic function) of L.-F. Tam and the author. The second set of results concerns the so-called $k$-hyperbolicity and its connection with the negativity of the $k$-scalar curvature (when $k=1$ they are the negativity of holomorphic sectional curv…
In this paper we prove a gap theorem for Kähler manifolds with nonnegative orthogonal bisectional curvature and nonnegative Ricci curvature, which generalizes an earlier result of the first author. We also prove a Liouville theorem for plurisubharmonic functions on such a manifolds, which generalizes a previous result of L.-F. Tam and the first author.
Let $Ω$ be a strongly pseudoconvex domain. We introduce the Mabuchi space of strongly plurisubharmonic functions in $Ω$. We study metric properties of this space using Mabuchi geodesics and establish regularity properties of the latter, especially in the ball. As an application we study the existence of local Kähler-Einstein metrics.
Consider a compact Kähler manifold $(X,ω)$ and the space $\cal E(X,ω)=\cal E$ of $ω$--plurisubharmonic functions of full Monge--Ampère mass on it. We introduce a quantity $ρ[u,v]$ to measure the distance between $u, v\in\cal E$; $ρ[u,v]$ is not a number but rather a decreasing function on a certain interval $(0,V)\subset\mathbb R$. We explore properties of $ρ[u,v]$, and using them we study Lagrangians and associated energy spaces of $ω$--plurisubharmonic functions. Many results here generalize Darvas's findings about his metrics $d_χ$.
We develop a new approach to $L^{\infty}$-a priori estimates for degenerate complex Monge-Ampère equations on complex manifolds. It only relies on compactness and envelopes properties of quasi-plurisubharmonic functions. Our method allows one to obtain new and efficient proofs of several fundamental results in Kähler geometry as we explain in this article. In a sequel we shall explain how this approach also applies to the hermitian setting producing new relative a priori bounds, as well as existence results.
In this paper we introduce and study the notion of plurisubharmonic functions in calibrated geometry. These functions generalize the classical plurisubharmonic functions from complex geometry and enjoy many of their important properties. Moreover, they exist in abundance whereas the corresponding pluriharmonics are generally quite scarce. A number of the results established in complex analysis via plurisubharmonic functions are extended to calibrated manifolds. This paper investigates, in depth, questions of: pseudo-convexity and cores, positive phi-currents, Duval-Sibony Duality, and boundari…
Recently the authors showed that there is a robust potential theory attached to any calibrated manifold (X,ϕ). In particular, on X there exist ϕ-plurisubharmonic functions, ϕ-convex domains, ϕ-convex boundaries, etc., all inter-related and having a number of good properties. In this paper we show that, in a strong sense, the plurisubharmonic functions are the polar duals of the ϕ-submanifolds, or more generally, the ϕ-currents studied in the original paper on calibrations. In particular, we establish an analogue of Duval-Sibony Duality which characterizes points in the ϕ-convex hull of a compa…
We develop a new approach to $L^{\infty}$-a priori estimates for degenerate complex Monge-Ampère equations on complex manifolds. It only relies on compactness and envelopes properties of quasi-plurisubharmonic functions. In a prequel \cite{GL21a} we have shown how this method allows one to obtain new and efficient proofs of several fundamental results in Kähler geometry. In \cite{GL21b} we have studied the behavior of Monge-Ampère volumes on hermitian manifolds. We extend here the techniques of \cite{GL21a} to the hermitian setting and use the bounds established in \cite{GL21b}, producing new …
In this paper, we study volume growth, Liouville theorem and the local gradient estimate for $f$-harmonic functions, and volume comparison property of unit balls in complete noncompact gradient Ricci shrinkers. We also study integral properties of f-harmonic functions and harmonic functions on such manifolds.
Dinh--Sibony theory of tangent and density currents is a recent but powerful tool to study positive closed currents. Over twenty years ago, Alessandrini and Bassanelli initiated the theory of the Lelong number of a positive plurisubharmonic current in $\mathbb{C}^k$ along a linear subspace. Although the latter theory is intriguing, it has not yet been explored in-depth since then. Introducing the concept of the generalized Lelong numbers and studying these new numerical values, we extend both theories to a more general class of positive plurisubharmonic currents and in a more general context o…
In recent years, the study of the interplay between (fully) non-linear potential theory and geometry received important new impulse. The purpose of this work is to move a step further in this direction by investigating appropriate versions of parabolicity and maximum principles at infinity for large classes of non-linear (sub)equations $F$ on manifolds. The main goal is to show a unifying duality between such properties and the existence of suitable $F$-subharmonic exhaustions, called Khas'minskii potentials, which is new even for most of the "standard" operators arising from geometry, and imp…

Moreover, they exist in abundance whereas the corresponding pluriharmonics are generally quite scarce. A number of the results established in complex analysis via plurisubharmonic functions are extended to calibrated manifolds. We study some function-theoretic properties on a complete smooth metric measure space $(M,g,e^{-f}dv)$ with Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature bounded from below. We derive a Moser's parabolic Harnack inequality for the $f$-heat equation, which leads to upper and lower Gaussian bounds on the $f$-heat kernel. We also prove $L^p$-Liouville theorems in terms of the lower bound of Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature and the bound of function $f$, which generalize the classical Ricci curvature case and the $N$-Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature case.
Let A be an integral Banach ring, and X/A be a projective scheme of finite type, endowed with a semi-ample line bundle L. We define a class PSH(X,L) of plurisubharmonic metrics on L on the Berkovich analytification X^an and prove various basic properties thereof. We focus in particular on the case where A is a hybrid ring of complex power series and X/A is a smooth variety, so that X^an is the hybrid space associated to a degeneration X of complex varieties over the punctured disk. We then prove that when L is ample, any plurisubharmonic metric on L with logarithmic growth at zero admits a can…
The classical Liouville theorem states that a bounded harmonic function on all of $\RR^n$ must be constant. In the early 1970s, S.T. Yau vastly generalized this, showing that it holds for manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature. Moreover, he conjectured a stronger Liouville property that has generated many significant developments. We will first discuss this conjecture and some of the ideas that went into its proof. We will also discuss two recent areas where this circle of ideas has played a major role. One is Kleiner's new proof of Gromov's classification of groups of polynomial growth an…
In this paper we study the Kato' inequality on locally finite graph. We also study the application of Kato inequality to Ginzburg-Landau equations on such graphs. Interesting properties of Schrodinger equation and a Liouville type theorem are also derived.
We introduce and study an approximate solution of the p-Laplace equation, and a linearlization $L_ε$ of a perturbed p-Laplace operator. By deriving an $L_ε$-type Bochner's formula and a Kato type inequality, we prove a Liouville type theorem for weakly p-harmonic functions with finite p-energy on a complete noncompact manifold M which supports a weighted Poincaré inequality and satisfies a curvature assumption. This nonexistence result, when combined with an existence theorem, yields in turn some information on topology, i.e. such an M has at most one p-hyperbolic end. Moreover, we prove a Lio…
In this paper we study topological properties of an integrable case for Euler's equations on the Lie algebra $\textrm{so}(4)$, which can be regarded as an analogue of the classical Kovalevskaya case in rigid body dynamics. In particular, for all values of the parameters of the system under consideration the bifurcation diagrams of the momentum mapping are constructed, the types of critical points of rank $0$ are determined, the bifurcations of Liouville tori are described and the loop molecules for all singular points of the bifurcation diagram are computed. It follows from the obtained result…
The present paper unifies some aspects concerning the vertical Liouville distributions on the tangent (cotangent) bundle of a Finsler (Cartan) space in the context of generalized geometry. More exactly, we consider the big-tangent manifold $\mathcal{T}M$ associated to a Finsler space $(M,F)$ and of its $\mathcal{L}$-dual which is a Cartan space $(M,K)$ and we define three Liouville distributions on $\mathcal{T}M$ which are integrable. We also find geometric properties of both leaves of Liouville distribution and the vertical distribution in our context.
In this paper, we study the properties of the first global term in the polyhomogeneous expansions for Liouville's equation. We obtain rigidity and gap results for the boundary integral of the global coefficient. We prove that such a boundary integral is always nonpositive, and is zero if and only if the underlying domain is a disc. More generally, we prove some gap theorems relating such a boundary integral to the number of components of the boundary. The conformal structure plays an essential role.
We study here the action of subgroups of PSL(2,R) on the space of harmonic functions on the unit disc bounded by a common constant, as well as the relationship this action has with the foliated Liouville problem: Given a foliation of a compact manifold by Riemannian leaves and a leafwise harmonic continuous function on the manifold, is the function leafwise constant? We give a number of positive results and also show a general class of examples for which the Liouville property does not hold. The connection between the Liouville property and the dynamics on the space of harmonic functions as we…
We study analytic properties of harmonic maps from Riemannian polyhedra into CAT($κ$) spaces for $κ\in\{0,1\}$. Locally, on each top-dimensional face of the domain, this amounts to studying harmonic maps from smooth domains into CAT($κ$) spaces. We compute a target variation formula that captures the curvature bound in the target, and use it to prove an $L^p$ Liouville-type theorem for harmonic maps from admissible polyhedra into convex CAT($κ$) spaces. Another consequence we derive from the target variation formula is the Eells-Sampson Bochner formula for CAT(1) targets.
By a classical result of Darboux, a foliation of a Riemannian surface has the Graves property (also known as the strong evolution property) if and only if the foliation comes from a Liouville net. A similar result of Blaschke says that a pair of orthogonal foliations has the Ivory property if and only if they form a Liouville net. Let us say that a geodesically convex curve on a Riemannian surface has the Poritsky property if it can be parametrized in such a way that all of its string diffeomorphisms are shifts with respect to this parameter. In 1950, Poritsky has shown that the only closed pl…
For integrable Hamiltonian systems with two degrees of freedom whose Hamiltonian vector fields have incomplete flows, an analogue of the Liouville theorem is established. A canonical Liouville fibration is defined by means of an "exact" 2-parameter family of flat polygons equipped with certain pairing of sides. For the integrable Hamiltonian systems given by the vector field $v=(-\partial f/\partial w, \partial f/\partial z)$ on ${\mathbb C}^2$ where $f=f(z,w)$ is a complex polynomial in 2 variables, geometric properties of Liouville fibrations are described.
We derive the conformal Ward identities for the correlation functions of the Stress--Energy tensor in probabilistic Liouville Conformal Field Theory on compact Riemann surfaces by varying the correlation functions with respect to the background metric. The conformal Ward identities show that the correlation functions of the Stress--Energy tensor can be expressed as a differential operator with meromorphic coefficient acting on the correlation functions of the primary fields of Liouville Conformal Field Theory. Variations of the metric come in three different forms: reparametrizations, conforma…
