We consider a nonlinear heat equation with a gradient term. We construct a blow-up solution for this equation with a prescribed blow-up profile. For that, we translate the question in selfsimilar variables and reduce the problem to a finite dimensional one. We then solve the finite dimensional problem using index theory. The interpretation of the finite dimensional parameters allows us to derive the stability of the constructed solution with respect to initial data.

We introduce a straightforward method to analyze the blow-up of systems of ordinary differential inequalities, and apply it to study the blow- up of solutions to a weakly coupled system of semilinear heat equations. We derive a blow-up dichotomy for positive solutions of fractional semilinear heat equations on the whole space. That is, within a certain class of convex source terms, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition on the source for all positive solutions to become unbounded in finite time. Moreover, we show that this condition is equivalent to blow-up of all positive solutions of a closely-related scalar ordinary differential equation.

We analyze the finite-time blow-up of solutions of the heat flow for $k$-corotational maps $\mathbb R^d\to S^d$. For each dimension $d>2+k(2+2\sqrt{2})$ we construct a countable family of blow-up solutions via a method of matched asymptotics by glueing a re-scaled harmonic map to the singular self-similar solution: the equatorial map. We find that the blow-up rates of the constructed solutions are closely related to the eigenvalues of the self-similar solution. In the case of $1$-corotational maps our solutions are stable and represent the generic blow-up.

We consider the semilinear heat equation $u_t=Δu+|u|^{p-1}u-|u|^{q-1}u$ in $\mathbb{R}^n\times(0,T)$, where $n=5$, $p=\frac{n+2}{n-2}$ and $q\in(0,1)$. By the presence of $-|u|^{q-1}u$, this equation has a finite time extinction property. We show the existence of a new type of blowup solutions by using this property. In fact, we obtain such blowup solutions by connecting a specific blowup solution of $u_t=Δu+|u|^{p-1}u$ and a specific solution of $u_t=Δu-|u|^{q-1}u$, and by adding correction terms.
Refined structures of blowup for non-collapsing maximal solution to a semilinear parabolic equation are studied. We will prove that the blowup set is empty for non-collapsing blowing-up in subcritical case, and all finite time non-collapsing blowing-up must be type II in critical case. It is known that there is a class of semilinear parabolic equations for which interior gradient blow-up (in finite time) occurs for some solutions. We construct a continuation of such solutions after gradient blow-up. This continuation is global in time and we give an example when it never becomes a classical solution again.

Our proof relies on the following method: we linearize the equation (in similarity variables) around the expected profile, then, we control the nonpositive directions of the spectrum thanks to the decreasing properties of the kernel. In this paper, the authors consider an initial boundary value problem for the heat flow of equation of surfaces with constant mean curvatures, which was investigated in [On the heat flow of equation of surfaces of constant mean curvatures, Manuscripta Mathematica, 2011, 134: 259-271] by Huang et al., where global well-posedness and finite time blow-up of regular solutions were obtained. We produce a finite time blow-up solution for nonlinear fractional heat equation ($\partial_t u + (-Δ)^{β/2}u=u^k$) in modulation and Fourier amalgam spaces on the torus $\mathbb T^d$ and the Euclidean space $\mathbb R^d.$ This complements several known local and small data global well-posedness results in modulation spaces on $\mathbb R^d.$ Our method of proof rely on the formal solution of the equation. This method should be further applied to other non-linear evolution equations.
In this paper, we study the formation of finite time singularities for the solution of the boundary layer equations in the two-dimensional incompressible heat conducting flow. We obtain that the first spacial derivative of the solution blows up in a finite time for the thermal boundary layer problem, for a kind of data which are analytic in the tangential variable but do not satisfy the Oleinik monotonicity condition, by constructing a Lyapunov functional. Moreover, it is observed that the buoyancy coming from the temperature difference in the flow may destabilize the thermal boundary layer.
