Let $G=(V,E)$ be a locally finite, connected and weighted graph. We prove that, for a graph satisfying curvature dimension condition $CDE'(n,0)$ and uniform polynomial volume growth of degree $m$, all non-negative solutions of the equation $\partial_tu=Δu+u^{1+α}$ blow up in a finite time provided that $α=\frac{2}{m}$. We also consider the blow-up problem under certain conditions for volume growth and initial value. The obtained results provide a significant complement to the work by Lin and Wu in earlier paper.
This paper is concerned about the lifespan estimate to the Cauchy problem of semilinear damped wave equations with the Fujita critical exponent in high dimensions$(n\geq 4)$. We establish the sharp upper bound of the lifespan in the following form \begin{equation}\nonumber\\ \begin{aligned} T(\varepsilon)\leq \exp(C\varepsilon^{-\frac 2n}), \end{aligned} \end{equation} by using the heat kernel as the test function.
The blow-up for semilinear wave equations with the scale invariant damping has been well-studied for sub-Fujita exponent. However, for super-Fujita exponent, there is only one blow-up result which is obtained in 2014 by Wakasugi in the case of non-effective damping. In this paper we extend his result in two aspects by showing that: (I) the blow-up will happen for bigger exponent, which is closely related to the Strauss exponent, the critical number for non-damped semilinear wave equations; (II) such a blow-up result is established for a wider range of the constant than the known non-effective …
We prove the existence of a critical Fujita exponent for a non-homogeneous semilinear heat equation which involves degenerate coefficients. More precisely, in order to give a rather complete theory, we focus on two types of weights $w(x)=|x_1|^a$ or $w(x)=|x|^b$ where $a, b>0$ in a suitable range. The coefficients under consideration admit either a singularity at the origin or a line of singularities. In the latter case, the problem is related to the fractional Laplacian.
The aim of this paper is to prove a blow up result of the solution for a semilinear scale invariant damped wave equation under a suitable decay condition on radial initial data. The admissible range for the power of the nonlinear term depends both on the damping coefficient and on the pointwise decay order of the initial data. In addition we give an upper bound estimate for the lifespan of the solution, in terms of the power of the nonlinearity, size and growth of initial data.
In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for the semilinear damped wave equation on the Heisenberg group with power nonlinearity. We prove that the critical exponent is the Fujita exponent $p_{\mathrm{Fuj}}(\mathscr{Q}) = 1+2 / \mathscr{Q}$, where $\mathscr{Q}$ is the homogeneous dimension of the Heisenberg group. On the one hand, we will prove the global existence of small data solutions for $p >p_{\mathrm{Fuj}}(\mathscr{Q})$ in an exponential weighted energy space. On the other hand, a blow-up result for $1 < p \leq p_{\mathrm{Fuj}}(\mathscr{Q})$ under certain integral sign assumptions …
In this paper, we study a critical exponent to the semilinear heat equation with forcing term on Heisenberg group. Our technique of proof is based on methods of nonlinear capacity estimates specifically adapted to the nature of the Heisenberg group. Surprisingly, the critical exponent will be bounded for all dimensions of the Heisenberg group, in contrast to the Euclidean case which in the 1D and 2D cases will be infinite. In addition, we give an upper bound estimate on the lifespan of local solutions.
We are concerned with blow-up solutions of the 5-dimensional energy critical heat equation $u_t=Δu + | u |^{\frac{4}{3}}u$. Our main result is to show that the existence of type 2 solutions blows up at 2 points with 2 different blow-up rates. The inner-outer gluing method has been employed.
This paper is concerned with blow-up solutions of the 4-dimensional energy critical heat equation $u_t=Δu + u^3$. Our main result is to show that the existence of type II blowup solutions, and $\|u(\cdot,t)\|_\infty\sim(T-t)^{-k}|ln(T-t)|^{\frac{2k}{2k-1}}, (k=1,2,3\cdots)$.The inner-outer gluing method has been employed.
In this paper, we derive suitable optimal $L^p-L^q$ decay estimates, $1\leq p\leq 2\leq q\leq \infty$, for the solutions to the $σ$-evolution equation, $σ>1$, with scale-invariant time-dependent damping and power nonlinearity~$|u|^p$, \[ u_{tt}+(-Δ)^σu + \fracμ{1+t} u_t= |u|^{p}, \] where $μ>0$, $p>1$. The critical exponent $p=p_c$ for the global (in time) existence of small data solutions to the Cauchy problem is related to the long time behavior of solutions, which changes accordingly $μ\in (0, 1)$ or $μ>1$. Under the assumption of small initial data in $L^1\cap L^2$, we find the critical ex…
We consider the nonlocal diffusion equation $\partial \_t u=J*u-u+u^{1+p}$ in the whole of $\R ^N$. We prove that the Fujita exponent dramatically depends on the behavior of the Fourier transform of the kernel $J$ near the origin, which is linked to the tails of $J$. In particular, for compactly supported or exponentially bounded kernels, the Fujita exponent is the same as that of the nonlinear Heat equation $\partial \_tu=Δu+u^{1+p}$. On the other hand, for kernels with algebraic tails, the Fujita exponent is either of the Heat type or of some related Fractional type, depending on the finiten…
Consider the equation u_t=Δu-Vu +au^p \text{in} R^n\times (0,T); u(x,0)=ϕ(x)\gneq0, \text{in} R^n, where $p>1$, $n\ge2$, $T\in(0,\infty]$, $V(x)\sim\fracω{|x|^2}$ as $|x|\to\infty$, for some $ω\neq0$, and $a(x)$ is on the order $|x|^m$ as $|x|\to\infty$, for some $m\in (-\infty,\infty)$. A solution to the above equation is called global if $T=\infty$. Under some additional technical conditions, we calculate a critical exponent $p^*$ such that global solutions exist for $p>p^*$, while for $1<p\le p^*$, all solutions blow up in finite time. We also show that when $V\equiv0$, the blow-up/global s…
In this paper we consider the nonlinear Schrö\-din\-ger equation $i u_t +Δu +κ|u|^αu=0$. We prove that if $α<\frac {2} {N}$ and $\Im κ<0$, then every nontrivial $H^1$-solution blows up in finite or infinite time. In the case $α>\frac {2} {N}$ and $κ\in {\mathbb C}$, we improve the existing low energy scattering results in dimensions $N\ge 7$. More precisely, we prove that if $ \frac {8} {N + \sqrt{ N^2 +16N }} < α\le \frac {4} {N} $, then small data give rise to global, scattering solutions in $H^1$.
It is well-known that the critical exponent for semilinear damped wave equations is Fujita exponent when the damping is effective. Lai, Takamura and Wakasa in 2017 have obtained a blow-up result not only for super-Fujita exponent but also for the one closely related to Strauss exponent when the damping is scaling invariant and its constant is relatively small, which has been recently extended by Ikeda and Sobajima. Introducing a multiplier for the time-derivative of the spatial integral of unknown functions, we succeed in employing the technics on the analysis for semilinear wave equations and …
This paper is concerned with finite blow-up solutions of a one dimensional complex-valued semilinear heat equation. We provide locations and the number of blow-up points from the viewpoint of zeros of the solution.
We obtain an upper bound on the initial blow-up of nonnegative solutions of second order semilinear parabolic inequalities when a superlinear exponent in the inequalities is not too large.
We consider the the pointwise estimates and the blow-up rate estimates for the zero Dirchilet problem of the semilinear heat equation with a gradient term.
The problem of blow up of solutions to the initial boundary value problem for non-autonomous semilinear wave equation with damping and accelerating terms under the Robin boundary condition is studied. Sufficient conditions of blow up in a finite time of solutions to semilinear damped wave equations with arbitrary large initial energy are obtained. A result on blow up of solutions with negative initial energy of semilinear second order wave equation with accelerating term is also obtained.
In this paper, we establish blow-up rates for higher-order semilinear parabolic equations with nonlocal in time nonlinearity with no positive assumption on the solution. We also give Liouville-type theorem for higher-order semilinear parabolic equation with infinite memory nonlinear term which plays the main tools to prove our blow-up rate result. Finally, we study the well-posedness of mild solutions.
It is known that there is a class of semilinear parabolic equations for which interior gradient blow-up (in finite time) occurs for some solutions. We construct a continuation of such solutions after gradient blow-up. This continuation is global in time and we give an example when it never becomes a classical solution again.
We consider the semilinear heat equation with a superlinear power nonlinearity in the Sobolev subcritical range. We construct a solution which blows up in finite time only at the origin, with a completely new blow-up profile, which is cross-shaped. Our method is general and extends to the construction of other solutions blowing up only at the origin, with a large variety of blow-up profiles, degenerate or not.
In this paper we study the global well-posedness of the following Cauchy problem on a sub-Riemannian manifold $M$: \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} u_{t}-\mathfrak{L}_{M} u=f(u), \;x\in M, \;t>0, \\u(0,x)=u_{0}(x), \;x\in M, \end{cases} \end{equation*} for $u_{0}\geq 0$, where $\mathfrak{L}_{M}$ is a sub-Laplacian of $M$. In the case when $M$ is a connected unimodular Lie group $\mathbb G$, which has polynomial volume growth, we obtain a critical Fujita exponent, namely, we prove that all solutions of the Cauchy problem with $u_{0}\not\equiv 0$, blow up in finite time if and only if $1<p\leq p_…
We give blow-up results for the Klein-Gordon equation and other perturbations of the semilinear wave equations with superlinear power nonlinearity, in one space dimension or in higher dimension under radial symmetry outside the origin.
It is shown that self-similar blow-up for a fourth-order reaction-diffusion equation is incomplete in the sense that, in general, there exists a self-similar extension of solutions after blow-up. Other types of complete blow-up of non self-similar form are discussed.
We construct a solution for a class of strongly perturbed semilinear heat equations which blows up in finite time with a prescribed blow-up profile. The construction relies on the reduction of the problem to a finite dimensional one and the use of index theory to conclude.
In this paper, we consider a semilinear parabolic equation with nonlinear nonlocal Neumann boundary condition and nonnegative initial datum. We first prove global existence results. We then give some criteria on this problem which determine whether the solutions blow up in finite time for large or for all nontrivial initial data. Finally, we show that under certain conditions blow-up occurs only on the boundary.
Consider a nonlinear wave equation for a massless scalar field with self-interaction in the spatially flat Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker spacetimes. We treat the so-called heatlike case where the critical exponent is affected by the Fujita exponent. We show upper bounds of the lifespan of blow-up solutions by distinguishing subcritical and critical cases.
The Fujita phenomenon for nonlinear parabolic problems dtu = \deltau + up in an exterior domain of RN under the Robin boundary conditions is investigated in the superlinear case. As in the case of Dirichlet boundary conditions, it turns out that there exists a critical exponent p = 1+2/N such that blow-up of positive solutions always occurs for subcritical exponents, whereas in the supercritical case global existence can occur for small non-negative initial data.
In this paper we consider a semilinear parabolic equation with nonlinear and nonlocal boundary condition and nonnegative initial datum. We prove some global existence results. Criteria on this problem which determine whether the solutions blow up in finite time for large or for all nontrivial initial data are also given.
We consider blow-up results for a system of inhomogeneous wave inequalities in exterior domains. We will handle three type boundary conditions: Dirichlet type, Neumann type and mixed boundary conditions. We use a unified approach to show the optimal criteria of Fujita type for each case. Our study yields naturally optimal nonexistence results for the corresponding stationary wave system and equation. We provide many new results and close some open questions.
The Fujita phenomenon for nonlinear parabolic problems $\partial tu = Δu + up$ in an exterior domain of RN under the dynamical boundary conditions is investigated in the superlinear case. As in the case of Dirichlet boundary conditions, it turns out that there exists a critical exponent $p = 1+2/N$ such that blow-up of positive solutions always occurs for subcritical exponents, whereas in the supercritical case global existence can occur for small non-negative initial data.
In this paper we prove the blow-up theorem in the critical case for weakly coupled systems of semilinear wave equations in high dimensions. The upper bound of the lifespan of the solution is precisely clarified.
We consider the semilinear wave equation with power nonlinearity in one space dimension. We consider an arbitrary blow-up solution $u(x,t)$, the graph $x\mapsto T(x)$ of its blow-up points and ${\cal S}\subset {\mathbb R}$ the set of all characteristic points. We show that ${\ca S}$ is locally finite.
We introduce a straightforward method to analyze the blow-up of systems of ordinary differential inequalities, and apply it to study the blow- up of solutions to a weakly coupled system of semilinear heat equations. We prove that the solution blows up in a finite time under the subcritical condition. Moreover, we give estimates of lifespan of the solution and lower estimates of the blow-up rate for a localized average of each component.
We study a class of semilinear elliptic equations with constraints in higher dimension. It is known that several mathematical structures of the problem are closed to those of the Liouville equation in dimension two. In this paper, we establish a classification of entire solutions, the $\sup + \inf$ type inequality and the quantized blowup mechanism.
We derive a blow-up dichotomy for positive solutions of fractional semilinear heat equations on the whole space. That is, within a certain class of convex source terms, we establish a necessary and sufficient condition on the source for all positive solutions to become unbounded in finite time. Moreover, we show that this condition is equivalent to blow-up of all positive solutions of a closely-related scalar ordinary differential equation.
We consider non-negative solutions to the semilinear space-fractional diffusion problem $(\partial_t+(-Δ)^{α/2})u=ρ(x)u^p$ on whole space $R^n$ with nonnegative initial data and with $(-Δ)^{α/2}$ being the $α$-Laplacian operator, $α\in (0,2)$. Here $p>0$ and $ρ(x)$ is a non-negative locally integrable function. For $ρ(x)=1$ we show that the fujita exponent is $p_F=1+\fracα{n}$ and the Liouville type result for the stationary equation is true for $0<p\leq 1+\fracα{n-α}$. When $p=1/2$ and $ρ(x)$ satisfies an integrable condition, there is at least one positive solution. This existence result is …
Five types of blow-up patterns that can occur for the 4th-order semilinear parabolic equation of reaction-diffusion type $$ u_t= -Δ^2 u + |u|^{p-1} u \quad {in} \quad \ren \times (0,T), p>1, \quad \lim_{t \to T^-}\sup_{x \in \ren} |u(x,t)|= +\iy, $$ are discussed. For the semilinear heat equation $u_t= Δu+ u^p$, various blow-up patterns were under scrutiny since 1980s, while the case of higher-order diffusion was studied much less, regardless a wide range of its application.
In this paper, we obtain a blow-up result for solutions to a semi-linear wave equation with scale-invariant dissipation and mass and power non-linearity, in the case in which the model has a "wave like" behavior. In order to achieve this goal, we perform a change of variables that transforms our starting equation in a strictly hyperbolic semi-linear wave equation with time-dependent speed of propagation. Then, we apply Kato's lemma to find a blow-up result for solutions to the transformed equation under some support and sign assumptions on the initial data. A special emphasis is placed on the …
We consider a blow-up solution for the semilinear wave equation in $N$ dimensions, with subconformal power nonlinearity. Introducing $\RR_0$ the set of non-characteristic points with the Lorentz transform of the space-independent solution as asymptotic profile, we show that $\RR_0$ is open and that the blow-up surface is of class $C^1$ on $\RR_0$. Then, we show the stability of $\RR_0$ with respect to initial data.
The blow-up rate estimate for the solution to a semilinear parabolic equation $u_t=Δu+V(x) |u|^{p-1}u$ in $Ω\times (0,T)$ with 0-Dirichlet boundary condition is obtained. As an application, it is shown that the asymptotic behavior of blow-up time and blow-up set of the problem with nonnegative initial data $u(x,0)=M\vf (x)$ as $M$ goes to infinity, which have been found in \cite{cer}, are improved under some reasonable and weaker conditions compared with \cite{cer}.
In this paper, we study the blow-up of solutions to the semilinear Moore-Gibson-Thompson (MGT) equation with nonlinearity of derivative type $|u_t|^p$ in the conservative case. We apply an iteration method in order to study both the subcritical case and the critical case. Hence, we obtain a blow-up result for the semilinear MGT equation (under suitable assumptions for initial data) when the exponent $p$ for the nonlinear term satisfies $1<p\leqslant (n+1)/(n-1)$ for $n\geqslant2$ and $p>1$ for $n=1$. In particular, we find the same blow-up range for $p$ as in the corresponding semilinear wave …
We consider in this work some class of strongly perturbed for the semilinear heat equation with Sobolev sub-critical power nonlinearity. We first derive a Lyapunov functional in similarity variables and then use it to derive the blow-up rate. We also classify all possible asymptotic behaviors of the solution when it approaches to singularity. Finally, we describe precisely the blow-up profiles corresponding to these behaviors.
Refined structures of blowup for non-collapsing maximal solution to a semilinear parabolic equation are studied. We will prove that the blowup set is empty for non-collapsing blowing-up in subcritical case, and all finite time non-collapsing blowing-up must be type II in critical case. When p>p_S=(N+2)/(N-2) for N>=3, the Hausdorff dimension of the blowup set for maximal solution whose energy is non-collapsing is shown to be no greater than N-2-4/(p-1), which answers a question proposed in [7] positively. At the end of this paper, we also present some new examples of collapsing and non-collaps…
In this paper, we study weakly coupled systems for semilinear wave equations with distinct nonlinear memory terms in general forms, and the corresponding single semilinear equation with general nonlinear memory terms. Thanks to Banach's fixed point theorem, we prove local (in time) existence of solutions with the $L^1$ assumption on the memory kernels. Then, blow-up results for energy solutions are derived applying iteration methods associated with slicing procedure. We investigate interactions on the blow-up conditions under different decreasing assumptions on the memory term. Particularly, a…
