We deal with initial-boundary value problems for systems of conservation laws in one space dimension and we focus on the boundary Riemann problem. It is known that, in general, different viscous approximations provide different limits. In this paper, we establish sufficient conditions to conclude that two different approximations lead to the same limit. As an application of this result, we show that, under reasonable assumptions, the self-similar second-order approximation and the classical viscous approximation provide the same limit. Our analysis applies to both the characteristic and the non characteristic case. We require neither genuine nonlinearity nor linear degeneracy of the characteristic fields.
We extend the weak-strong uniqueness principle to general models of compressible viscous fluids near/on the vacuum. In particular, the physically relevant case of positive density with polynomial decay at infinity is considered.

The existence of weak solutions to the "viscous incompressible fluid + rigid body" system with Navier slip-with-friction conditions in a 3D bounded domain has been recently proved by Gérard-Varet and Hillairet in \cite{exi:GeH}. In 2D for a fluid alone (without any rigid body) it is well-known since Leray that weak solutions are unique, continuous in time with $ L^{2} $ regularity in space and satisfy the energy equality.In this paper we prove that these properties also hold for the 2D "viscous incompressible fluid + rigid body" system.

We prove the non-uniqueness of weak solutions to 3D hyper viscous and resistive MHD in the class $L^γ_tW^{s,p}_x$, where the exponents $(s,γ,p)$ lie in two supercritical regimes. The result reveals that the scaling-invariant Ladyženskaja-Prodi-Serrin (LPS) condition is the right criterion to detect non-uniqueness, even in the highly viscous and resistive regime beyond the Lions exponent. We consider the dyadic model with viscosity and additive Gaussian noise as a simplified version of the stochastic Navier-Stokes equations, with the purpose of studying uniqueness and emergence of singularities. We prove path-wise uniqueness and absence of blow-up in the intermediate intensity of the non-linearity, morally corresponding to the 3D case, and blow-up for stronger intensity. Moreover, blow-up happens with probability one for regular initial data.
We prove the existence of unique regular solutions of steady-state buoyancy-driven flows of viscous incompressible heat-conducting fluids in 3D open channels under mixed boundary conditions. The model takes into account the phenomena of the viscous energy dissipation.
First, a new sufficient condition for uniqueness of weak solutions is proved for the system of 2D viscous Primitive Equations. Second, global existence and uniqueness are established for several classes of weak solutions with partial initial regularity, including but not limited to those weak solutions with initial horizontal regularity, rather than vertical regularity. We establish some conditional uniqueness of weak solutions to the viscous primitive equations, and as an application, we prove the global existence and uniqueness of weak solutions, with the initial data taken as small $L^\infty$ perturbations of functions in the space $X=\left\{v\in (L^6(Ω))^2|\partial_zv\in (L^2(Ω))^2\right\}$; in particular, the initial data are allowed to be discontinuous. We study the Riemann problem for the multidimensional compressible isentropic Euler equations. Using the framework developed by Chiodaroli, De Lellis, Kreml and based on the techniques of De Lellis and Székelyhidi, we extend our previous results and prove that whenever the initial Riemann data give rise to a self-similar solution consisting of one admissible shock and one rarefaction wave and are not too far from lying on a simple shock wave, the problem admits also infinitely many admissible weak solutions.

In this paper, we consider the global existence and uniqueness of the classical solutions for the 3D viscous liquid-gas two-phase flow model. Initial data is only small in the energy-norm. Our main ideas come from [15] where the existence of global classical solutions to the compressible Navier-Stokes equations was obtained by using the continuity methods under the assumption that the initial energy is sufficiently small.
In this paper, we consider the initial boundary value problem for the three-dimensional viscous primitive equations of large-scale moist atmosphere which are used to describe the turbulent behavior of long-term weather prediction and climate changes. The key point in the analysis is to deduce certain uniform estimates on the solutions, especially on the uniform positive lower and upper bounds on the specific volume and the temperature.
We are interested in viscous scalar conservation laws with a white-in-time but spatially correlated stochastic forcing. The equation is assumed to be one-dimensional and periodic in the space variable, and its flux function to be locally Lipschitz continuous and have at most polynomial growth. Neither the flux nor the noise need to be non-degenerate. In a first part, we show the existence and uniqueness of a global solution in a strong sense. We investigate global well-posedness to the Cauchy problem of three-dimensional compressible viscous and heat-conducting micropolar fluid equations with zero density at infinity. By delicate energy estimates, we establish global existence and uniqueness of strong solutions under some smallness condition depending only on the parameters appeared in the system and the initial mass. In particular, the initial mass can be arbitrarily large. This improves our previous work [23]. Moreover, we also generalize the result [13] to the case that vacuum is allowed at infinity.
We consider a coupled PDE-ODE system describing the motion of the rigid body in a container filled with the incompressible, viscous fluid. The fluid and the rigid body are coupled via Navier slip boundary condition. We prove that the local in time strong solution is unique in the larger class of weak solutions on the interval of its existence. This is the first weak-strong uniqueness result in the area of fluid-structure interaction with a moving boundary.

We provide a precise description of the set of residual boundary conditions generated by the self-similar viscous approximation introduced by Dafermos et al. We then apply our results, valid for both conservative and non conservative systems, to the analysis of the boundary Riemann problem and we show that, under appropriate assumptions, the limits of the self-similar and the classical vanishing viscosity approximation coincide. In this paper, we study a nonlinear interaction problem between compressible viscous fluids and plates. For this problem, we introduce relative entropy and relative energy inequality for the finite energy weak solutions (FEWS). First, we prove that for all FEWS, the structure displacement enjoys improved regularity by utilizing the dissipation effects of the fluid onto the structure and that all FEWS satisfy the relative energy inequality.
