Partial actions of Hopf algebras can be considered as a generalization of partial actions of groups on algebras. Among important properties of partial Hopf actions, it is possible to prove the existence of enveloping actions, i.e., every partial Hopf action on a algebra A is induced by a Hopf action on a algebra B that contains A as a right ideal. This globalization theorem allows to extend several results from the theory of partial group actions to the Hopf algebraic setting. In this article, we prove a dual version of the globalization theorem: that every partial coaction of a Hopf algebra admits an enveloping coaction. We also show how this works on a series of examples which go beyond partial group actions. Finally, we explore some consequences of globalization theorems in order to present versions of the duality theorems of Cohen-Montgomery and Blattner-Montgomery for partial Hopf actions.
In this work, we review some properties of twisted partial actions of Hopf algebras on unital algebras and give necessary and sufficient conditions for a twisted partial action to have a globalization. We also elaborate a series of examples.
In this work we investigate partial actions of a Hopf algebra H on nonunital algebras and the associated partial smash products. We show that our partial actions correspond to nonunital algebras in the category of partial representations of H. The central problem of existence of a globalization for a partial action is studied in detail, and we provide sufficient conditions for the existence (and uniqueness) of a minimal globalization for associative algebras in general. Extending previous results by Abadie, Dokuchaev, Exel and Simon, we define Morita equivalence for partial Hopf actions, and w…
In partial action theory, a pertinent question is whenever given a partial (co)action of a Hopf algebra A on an algebra R, it is possible to construct an enveloping (co)action. The authors Alves and Batista, in [2],have shown that this is always possible if R has unit. We are interested in investigating the situation where both algebras A and R are nonunitary. A nonunitary natural extension for the concept of Hopf algebras was proposed by Van Daele, in [11], which is called multiplier Hopf algebra. Therefore, we will consider partial (co)actions of multipliers Hopf algebras on algebras not nec…
In this paper, we introduce the notion of globalization for partial module coalgebra and for partial comodule coalgebra. We show that every partial module coalgebra is globalizable exhibiting a standard globalization. We also show the existence of globalization for a partial comodule coalgebra, provided a certain rationality condition. Moreover, we show a relationship between the globalization for the (co)module coalgebra and the usual globalization for the (co)module algebra.
In this paper we introduce the notions of partial bimodule algebra and partial bico- module algebra. We also deal with the existence of globalizations for these structures, generalizing related results appeared in [2, 4]. As an application we construct the partial (L;R)-smash product, extending the corresponding global notion appeared in [14] to the context of partial Hopf actions.
We discuss globalization for geometric partial comodules in a monoidal category with pushouts and we provide a concrete procedure to construct it, whenever it exists. The mild assumptions required by our approach make it possible to apply it in a number of contexts of interests, recovering and extending numerous ad hoc globalization constructions from the literature in some cases and providing obstruction for globalization in some other cases.
We study the globalization of partial actions on sets and topological spaces and of partial coactions on algebras by applying the general theory of globalization for geometric partial comodules, as previously developed by the authors. We show that this approach does not only allow to recover all known results in these settings, but it allows to treat new cases of interest, too.
In this article, we introduce the concept of partial groupoid actions on R- semicategories as well as we give criteria for existence of a globalization of it. This point of view is a generalization of the notions of partial groupoid actions on rings and partial group action on an R-semicategory. We also define the notions of partial skew groupoid category, smash product and describe functorial relations between them, in particular we show that the smash product is a Galois covering of its associated skew groupoid category.
We study the relations between partial and global group cohomology with values in a commutative unital ring $\mathcal{A}$. In particular, for a unital partial action of a group $G$ on $\mathcal{A}$, such that $\mathcal{A}$ is a direct product of commutative indecomposable rings, we show that any partial $n$-cocycle of $G$ with values in $\mathcal{A}$ is globalizable.
Recently E. R. Alvares, M. M. Alves and M. J. Redondo introduced a cohomology for a group $G$ with values in a module over the partial group algebra $K_{\mathrm{par}}(G)$, which is different from the partial group cohomology defined earlier by the first two named authors of the present paper. Given a unital partial action $α$ of $G$ on a (unital) algebra $\mathcal{A}$ we consider $\mathcal{A}$ as a $K_{\mathrm{par}}(G)$-module in a natural way and study the globalization problem for the cohomology in the sense of Alvares-Alves-Redondo with values in $\mathcal{A}$. The problem is reduced to an …
In this work we define partial (co)actions on multiplier Hopf algebras, we also present examples and properties. From a partial comodule coalgebra we construct a partial smash coproduct generalizing the constructions made by the L. Delvaux, E. Batista and J. Vercruysse.
The duality between partial actions (partial $H$-module algebras) and co-actions (partial $H$-comodule algebras) of a Hopf algebra $H$ is fully explored in this work. A connection between partial (co)actions and Hopf algebroids is established under certain commutativity conditions. Moreover, we continue this duality study, introducing also partial $H$-module coalgebras and their associated $C$-rings, partial $H$-comodule coalgebras and their associated cosmash coproducts, as well as the mutual interrelations between these structures.
In this work, the cohomology theory for partial actions of co-commutative Hopf algebras over commutative algebras is formulated. This theory generalizes the cohomology theory for Hopf algebras introduced by Sweedler and the cohomology theory for partial group actions, introduced by Dokuchaev and Khrypchenko. Some nontrivial examples, not coming from groups are constructed. Given a partial action of a co-commutative Hopf algebra $H$ over a commutative algebra $A$, we prove that there exists a new Hopf algebra $\widetilde{A}$, over a commutative ring $E(A)$, upon which $H$ still acts partially a…
We introduce the notion of a dilation for a partial representation (i.e. a partial module) of a Hopf algebra, which in case the partial representation origins from a partial action (i.e.a partial module algebra) coincides with the enveloping action (or globalization). This construction leads to categorical equivalences between the category of partial $H$-modules, a category of (global) $H$-modules endowed with a projection satisfying a suitable commutation relation and the category of modules over a (global) smash product constructed upon $H$, from which we deduce the structure of a Hopfish al…
We introduce (continuous) partial category actions on sets (topological spaces) and show that each such action admits a universal globalization. Thereby, we obtain a simultaneous generalization of corresponding results for groups, by Kellendonk and Lawson, and for monoids, by Megrelishvili and Schroder. We apply this result to the special case of partial groupoid actions where we obtain a sharpening of a result by Gilbert, concerning ordered groupoids, in the sense that mediating functions between universal globalizations always are injective.

We introduce the notion of a partial corepresentation of a given Hopf algebra $H$ over a coalgebra $C$ and the closely related concept of a partial $H$-comodule. We prove that there exists a universal coalgebra $H^{par}$, associated to the original Hopf algebra $H$, such that the category of regular partial $H$-comodules is isomorphic to the category of $H^{par}$-comodules. We introduce the notion of a Hopf coalgebroid and show that the universal coalgebra $H^{par}$ has the structure of a Hopf coalgebroid over a suitable coalgebra.
It will be seen that if $H$ is a weak Hopf algebra in the definition of coaction of weak bialgebras on coalgebras \cite{Wang}, then a definition property is suppressed giving rise to the (global) coactions of weak Hopf algebras on coalgebras. The next step will be introduce the more general notion of partial coactions of weak Hopf algebras on coalgebras as well as a family of examples via a fixed element on the weak Hopf algebra, illustrating both definitions: global and partial. Moreover, it will also be presented how to obtain a partial comodule coalgebra from a global one via projections, g…
We introduce "geometric" partial comodules over coalgebras in monoidal categories, as an alternative notion to the notion of partial action and coaction of a Hopf algebra introduced by Caenepeel and Janssen. The name is motivated by the fact that our new notion suits better if one wants to describe phenomena of partial actions in algebraic geometry. Under mild conditions, the category of geometric partial comodules is shown to be complete and cocomplete and the category of partial comodules over a Hopf algebra is lax monoidal. We develop a Hopf-Galois theory for geometric partial coactions to …
In this work, the notion of a quantum inverse semigroup is introduced as a linearized generalization of inverse semigroups. Beyond the algebra of an inverse semigroup, which is the natural example of a quantum inverse semigroup, several other examples of this new structure are presented in different contexts, those are related to Hopf algebras, weak Hopf algebras, partial actions and Hopf categories. Finally, a generalized notion of local bisections are defined for commutative Hopf algebroids over a commutative base algebra giving rise to new examples of quantum inverse semigroups associated t…
Given a partial action $α=(A_g,α_g)_{g\in \mathcal{G}}$ of a connected groupoid $\mathcal{G}$ on a ring $A$ and an object $x$ of $\mathcal{G}$, the isotropy group $\mathcal{G}(x)$ acts partially on the ideal $A_x$ of $A$ by the restriction of $α$. In this paper we investigate the following reverse question: under what conditions a partial group action of $\mathcal{G}(x)$ on an ideal of $A$ can be extended to a partial groupoid action of $\mathcal{G}$ on $A$? The globalization problem and some applications to the Morita and Galois theories are also considered, as extensions of similar results f…
