In this paper we study some improvements of the classical Hardy inequality. We add to the right hand side of the inequality a term which depends on some Lorentz norms of $u$ or of its gradient and we find the best values of the constants for remaining terms. In both cases we show that the problem of finding the optimal value of the constant can be reduced to a spherically symmetric situation. This result is new when the right hand side is a Lorentz norm of the gradient.
We study the Hardy type inequalities in the framework of equalities. We present equalities which immediately imply Hardy type inequalities by dropping the remainder term. Simultaneously we give a characterization of the class of functions which makes the remainder term vanish. A point of our observation is to apply an orthogonality properties in general Hilbert space, and which gives a simple and direct understanding of the Hardy type inequalities as well as the nonexistence of nontrivial extremizers.
In the present paper we shall establish n-dimensional Hardy's inequalities with non-doubling weight functions of the distance to the boundary, where the boundary is a $C^2$ class bounded domain of $R^N$. This work is essentially based on one dimensional weighted Hardy's inequalities with one-sided boundary condition and sharp remainders. As weights we admit rather general ones that may vanish or blow up in infinite order such as $e^{-1/t}$ or $e^{1/t}$ at $t=0$ in one dimensional case.
We calculate the regional fractional Laplacian on some power function on an interval. As an application, we prove Hardy inequality with an extra term for the fractional Laplacian on the interval with the optimal constant. As a result, we obtain the fractional Hardy inequality with best constant and an extra lower-order term for general domains, following the method developed by M. Loss and C. Sloane [arXiv:0907.3054v1 [math.AP]]
In this paper we deal with a class of inequalities which interpolate the Kato's inequality and the Hardy's inequality in the half space. Starting from the classical Hardy's inequality in the half space $\rnpiu =\R^{n-1}\times(0,\infty)$, we show that, if we replace the optimal constant $\frac{(n-2)^2}{4}$ with a smaller one $\frac{(β-2)^2}{4}$, $2\le β<n$, then we can add an extra trace-term equals to that one that appears in the Kato's inequality. The constant in the trace remainder term is optimal and it tends to zero when $β$ goes to $n$, while it is equal to the optimal constant in the Kat…
In this paper we establish several Hardy and Hardy-Sobolev type inequalities with homogeneous weights on the first orthant $\displaystyle \mathbb{R}_{*}^n:=\{(x_1, \ldots, x_n):x_1>0, \ldots, x_n>0 \}$. We then use some of them to produce Hardy type inequalities with remainder terms. Furthermore, we obtain some interpolation inequalities and Maz'ya type inequalities with remainder terms with the help of Maz'ya inequality and Sobolev inequality of Cabré and Ros-Orton on the upper half space $\mathbb{R}_{+}^n:=\{x=(x_1, \ldots, x_n)|\, x_n>0 \}$.
In this paper we study Hardy and Rellich type inequalities for Baouendi-Grushin vector fields : $\nabla_γ=(\nabla_x, |x|^{2γ}\nabla_y)$ where $γ>0$, $\nabla_x$ and $\nabla_y$ are usual gradient operators in the variables $x\in \mathbb{R}^m$ and $y\in\mathbb{R}^k$, respectively. In the first part of the paper, we prove some weighted Hardy type inequalities with remainder terms. In the second part, we prove two versions of weighted Rellich type inequality on the whole space. We find sharp constants for these inequalities. We also obtain their improved versions for bounded domains.
We give sharp remainder terms of $L^{p}$ and weighted Hardy and Rellich inequalities on one of most general subclasses of nilpotent Lie groups, namely the class of homogeneous groups. As consequences, we obtain analogues of the generalised classical Hardy and Rellich inequalities and the uncertainty principle on homogeneous groups. We also prove higher order inequalities of Hardy-Rellich type, all with sharp constants. A number of identities are derived including weighted and higher order types.
Using a groundstate transformation, we give a new proof of the optimal Stein-Weiss inequality of Herbst [\int_{\R^N} \int_{\R^N} \frac{φ(x)}{\abs{x}^\fracα{2}} I_α(x - y) \frac{φ(y)}{\abs{y}^\fracα{2}}\dif x \dif y \le \mathcal{C}_{N,α, 0}\int_{\R^N} \absφ^2,] and of its combinations with the Hardy inequality by Beckner [\int_{\R^N} \int_{\R^N} \frac{φ(x)}{\abs{x}^\frac{α+ s}{2}} I_α(x - y) \frac{φ(y)}{\abs{y}^\frac{α+ s}{2}}\dif x \dif y \le \mathcal{C}_{N, α, 1} \int_{\R^N} \abs{\nabla φ}^2,] and with the fractional Hardy inequality [\int_{\R^N} \int_{\R^N} \frac{φ(x)}{\abs{x}^\frac{α+ s}{2}…
Firstly, this paper establishes useful forms of the remainder term of Hardy-type inequalities on general domains where the weights are functions of the distance to the boundary. For weakly mean convex domains we use the resulting identities to establish nonexistence of extremizers for and improve known sharp Hardy inequalities. Secondly, we establish geometrically interesting remainders for the Davies-Hardy-Tidblom inequalities for the mean distance function, as well as generalize and improve several Hardy type inequalities in the spirit of Brezis and Marcus and spectral estimates of Davies. L…
In this paper, we present the geometric Hardy inequalities on the starshaped sets in the Carnot groups. Also, we obtain the geometric Hardy inequalities on half-spaces for general vector fields.
We consider the series expansion of the $L^p$-Hardy inequality of \cite{BFT2}, in the particular case where the distance is taken from an interior point of a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$ and $1<p\neq n$. For $p<n$ we improve it by adding as a remainder term an optimally weighted critical Sobolev norm, generalizing the $p=2$ result of \cite{FT} and settling the open question raised in \cite{BFT1}. For $p>n$ we improve it by adding as a remainder term the optimally weighted Hölder seminorm, extending the Hardy-Morrey inequality of \cite{Ps} to the series case.
In this note we prove the reverse Stein-Weiss inequality on general homogeneous Lie groups. The obtained results extend previously known inequalities. Special properties of homogeneous norms and the reverse integral Hardy inequality play key roles in our proofs. Also, we show reverse Hardy, Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev, Lp-Sobolev and Lp-Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequalities on homogeneous groups.
This is the first part of our research on certain sharp Hardy-Sobolev inequalities and the related elliptic equations. In this part we shall establish some sharp weighted Hardy-Sobolev inequalities whose weights are distance functions to the boundary.
We obtain optimal generalized versions of Hardy inequalities, which as special cases contain Hardy's inequality and Hardy's inequality involving the distance function to the boundary of $ Ω$. In addition we obtain neccesary and sufficient conditions to add improvements in the form of non negative potentials.
We introduce a geometric approach of integral curves for functional inequalities involving directional derivatives in the general context of differentiable manifolds that are equipped with a volume form. We focus on Hardy-type inequalities and the explicit optimal Hardy potentials that are induced by this method. We then apply the method to retrieve some known inequalities and establish some new ones.
We prove a family of improved multipolar Poincaré-Hardy inequalities on Cartan-Hadamard manifolds. For suitable configurations of poles, these inequalities yield an improved multipolar Hardy inequality and an improved multipolar Poincaré inequality such that the critical unipolar singular mass is reached at any pole.
In this paper, we establish the weighted anisotropic Hardy and Rellich type inequalities with boundary terms for general (real-valued) vector fields. As consequences, we derive new as well as many of the fundamental Hardy and Rellich type inequalities which are known in different settings.
In this paper we present a unified simple approach to anisotropic Hardy inequalities in various settings. We consider Hardy inequalities which involve a Finsler distance from a point or from the boundary of a domain. The sharpness and the non-attainability of the constants in the inequalities are also proved.
We study some Hardy-type inequalities involving a general norm in $R^n$ and an anisotropic distance function to the boundary. The case of the optimality of the constants is also addressed.
We investigate the existence of extremals for Hardy-Sobolev inequalities involving the Dirichlet fractional Laplacian of order s, 0<s<1, on half-spaces.
In this paper, we prove Hardy-Leray and Rellich-Leray inequalities for curl-free vector fields with sharp constants. This complements the former work by Costin-Maz'ya \cite{Costin-Mazya} on the sharp Hardy-Leray inequality for axisymmetric divergence-free vector fields.
The aim of this paper is to obtain new Hardy inequalities with double singular weights - at an interior point and on the boundary of the domain. These inequalities give us the possibility to derive estimates from below of the first eigenvalue of the p-Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary conditions.
In this paper, we consider the first order Hardy inequalities using simple equalities. This basic setting not only permits to derive quickly many well-known Hardy inequalities with optimal constants, but also supplies improved or new estimates in miscellaneous situations, such as multipolar potential, the exponential weight, hyperbolic space, Heisenberg group, the edge Laplacian, or the Grushin type operator.
We find best constants in several dilation invariant integral inequalities involving derivatives of functions. Some of these inequalities are new and some were known without best constants. This paper studies the existence of extremal problems for the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities on compact manifolds without boundary via Concentration-Compactness principle.
This paper is primarily devoted to a class of interpolation inequalities of Hardy and Rellich types on the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$. Consequently, several weighted Hardy type, Heisenberg-Pauli-Weyl uncertainty principle and Hardy-Rellich type inqualities are established on $\mathbb{H}^n$. Moreover, new weighted Sobolev type embeddings are derived. Finally, an integral inequality for vector fields in a domain of the Heisenberg group is obtained, leading to several specific weighted Hardy type inequalities by making careful choices of vector fields.
This note studies the Hardy-type inequalities for vector fields with the $L^1$ norm of the $\curl$. In contrast to the well-known results in the whole space for the divergence-free vectors, we generalize the Hardy-type inequalities to the bounded domains and to the non-divergence-free vector fields with the tangential components on the boundary vanishing.
In this paper we obtain some sharp Hardy inequalities with weight functions that may admit singularities on the unit sphere. In order to prove the main results of the paper we use some recent sharp inequalities for the lowest eigenvalue of Schrödinger operators on the unit sphere obtaind in the paper [DEL].
First the Hardy and Rellich inequalities are defined for the submarkovian operator associated with a local Dirichlet form. Secondly, two general conditions are derived which are sufficient to deduce the Rellich inequality from the Hardy inequality. In addition the Rellich constant is calculated from the Hardy constant. Thirdly, we establish that the criteria for the Rellich inequality are verified for a large class of weighted second-order operators on a domain $Ω\subseteq \Ri^d$. The weighting near the boundary $\partial Ω$ can be different from the weighting at infinity. Finally these result…
In this paper we establish the subelliptic Picone type identities. As consequences, we obtain Hardy and Rellich type inequalities for anisotropic p-sub- Laplacians which are operators of the form $$ \mathcal{L}_p f := \sum_{i=1}^{N}X_i(|X_if|^{p_i-2}X_i f), \quad 1<p_i< \infty, $$ where $X_i, i=1,\ldots, N,$ are the generators of the first stratum of a stratified (Lie) group. Moreover, analogues of Hardy type inequalities with multiple singularities and many-particle Hardy type inequalities are obtained on stratified groups.

Let $Ø$ be a smooth bounded domain in $\R^N$ with $N\ge 1$. In this paper we study the Hardy-Poincaré inequalities with weight function singular at the boundary of $Ø$. In particular we give sufficient conditions so that the best constant is achieved.
With the help of a radially invariant vector field, we derive inequalities of the Hardy kind, with no boundary terms, for $W^{1,p}$ functions on bounded star domains. Our results are not obtainable from the classical inequalities for $W^{1,p}_{0}$ functions. Unlike in $W^{1,p}_{0}$, our inequalities admit maximizers that we describe explicitly.
We give a simple proof of the $λ= d-2$ cases of the sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality for $d\geq 3$, and the sharp Logarithmic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality for $d=2$ via a monotone flow governed by the fast diffusion equation.
We give sharp limiting case Hardy inequalities on the sphere $\mathbb{S}^{2}$ and show that their optimal constants are unattainable by any $f\in H^{1}\left(\mathbb{S}^{2}\right)\setminus\{0\}$. The singularity of the problem is related to the geodesic distance from a point on the sphere.
This paper is devoted to improvements of Sobolev and Onofri inequalities. The additional terms involve the dual counterparts, i.e. Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev type inequalities. The Onofri inequality is achieved as a limit case of Sobolev type inequalities. Then we focus our attention on the constants in our improved Sobolev inequalities, that can be estimated by completion of the square methods. Our estimates rely on nonlinear flows and spectral problems based on a linearization around optimal Aubin-Talenti functions.
We prove multipolar Hardy inequalities on complete Riemannian manifolds, providing various curved counterparts of some Euclidean multipolar inequalities due to Cazacu and Zuazua [Improved multipolar Hardy inequalities, 2013]. We notice that our inequalities deeply depend on the curvature, providing (quantitative) information about the deflection from the flat case. By using these inequalities together with variational methods and group-theoretical arguments, we also establish non-existence, existence and multiplicity results for certain Schrödinger-type problems involving the Laplace-Beltrami …
In this paper some important inequalities are revisited. First, as motivation, we give another proof of the Hardy's inequality applying convenient vector fields as introduced by Mitidieri, see [6]. Then, we investigate a particular case of the Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg's inequality. Finally, we study the Rellic's inequality.
Let $Ω$ be a bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^N$ whose boundary is a $\mathbb{C}^2$ compact manifolds. In the present paper we shall study a variational problem relating the weighted Hardy inequalities with sharp missing terms. As weights we adopted powers of the distance function $δ(x)$ to the boundary $\partialΩ$.
The main aim of this note is to prove sharp weighted integral Hardy inequality and conjugate integral Hardy inequality on homogeneous Lie groups with any quasi-norm for the range $1<p\leq q<\infty.$ We also calculate the precise value of sharp constants in respective inequalities, improving the result of $[19]$ in the case of homogeneous groups.
In this paper we obtain logarithmic Hardy and Rellich inequalities on general Lie groups. In the case of graded groups, we also show their refinements using the homogeneous Sobolev norms. In fact, we derive a family of weighted logarithmic Hardy-Rellich inequalities, for which logarithmic Hardy and Rellich inequalities are special cases. As a consequence of these inequalities, we also derive a Gross type logarithmic Hardy inequality on general stratified groups. An interesting feature of such estimate is that we consider the measure which is Gaussian only on the first stratum of the group. Suc…
In this note we prove the Stein-Weiss inequality on general homogeneous Lie groups. The obtained results extend previously known inequalities. Special properties of homogeneous norms play a key role in our proofs. Also, we give a simple proof of the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality on general homogeneous Lie groups.
This paper is devoted to a new family of reverse Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities which involve a power law kernel with positive exponent. We investigate the range of the admissible parameters and characterize the optimal functions. A striking open question is the possibility of concentration which is analyzed and related with nonlinear diffusion equations involving mean field drifts.
We derive Hardy type inequalities for a large class of sub-elliptic operators that belong to the class of $Δ_λ$-Laplacians and find explicit values for the constants involved. Our results generalize previous inequalities obtained for Grushin type operators $$ Δ_{x}+ |x|^{2α}Δ_{y},\qquad\ (x,y)\in\mathbb{R}^{N_1}\times\mathbb{R}^{N_2},\ α\geq 0, $$ which were proved to be sharp.
An inequality of Hardy type is established for quadratic forms involving Dirac operator and a weight $r^{-b}$ for functions in $\R^n$. The exact Hardy constant $c_b=c_b(n)$ is found and generalized minimizers are given. The constant $c_b$ vanishes on a countable set of $b$, which extends the known case $n=2$, $b=0$ which corresponds to the trivial Hardy inequality in $\R^2$. Analogous inequalities are proved in the case $c_b=0$ under constraints and, with error terms, for a bounded domain.
