We construct infinitely ramified Galois representations $ρ$ such that the $a_l (ρ)$'s have distributions in contrast to the statements of Sato-Tate, Lang-Trotter and others. Using similar methods we deform a residual Galois representation for number fields and obtain an infinitely ramified representation with very large image, generalising a result of Ramakrishna.
We obtain distribution results for traces of Frobenius for various families of elliptic curves with respect to the Lang-Trotter conjecture, extremal primes, and the central limit theorem. This includes some generalisations and bounds related to the work of Sha-Shparlinski on the average Lang-Trotter conjecture for single-parametric families of elliptic curves and the work of various authors on the trace of Frobenius for primes in congruence classes. Some results are also obtained for modular forms.
Inspired by the work of Lang-Trotter on the densities of primes with fixed Frobenius traces for elliptic curves defined over $\mathbb{Q}$ and by the subsequent generalization of Cojocaru-Davis-Silverberg-Stange to generic abelian varieties, we study the analogous question for abelian surfaces isogenous to products of non-CM elliptic curves over $\mathbb{Q}$. We formulate the corresponding conjectural asymptotic, provide upper bounds, and explicitly compute (when the elliptic curves lie outside a thin set) the arithmetically significant constants appearing in the asymptotic. This allows us to p…
Let $E$ be an elliptic curve over $\mathbb{Q}.$ Let $a_p$ denote the trace of the Frobenius endomorphism at a rational prime $p$. For a fixed integer $r,$ define the prime-counting function as $π_{E,r}(x):=\sum_{p\leq x,p\nmid Δ_E,a_p=r}1$. The Lang-Trotter Conjecture predicts that $$π_{E,r}(x)=C_{E,r}\cdot \frac{\sqrt{x}}{{\rm log}x}+o(\frac{\sqrt{x}}{{\rm log}x})$$ as $x\longrightarrow \infty,$ where $C_{E,r}$ is a specific non-negative constant. The Hardy-Littlewood Conjecture gives a similar asymptotic formula as above for the number of primes of the form $ax^2+bx+c$. We establish a relati…
This paper concerns the Algebraic Sato--Tate and Sato--Tate conjectures, based on Serre's original motivic formulation, with an eye towards explicit computations of Sato--Tate groups. We build on the algebraic framework for the Sato--Tate conjecture introduced in a previous paper, which used Deligne's motivic category for absolute Hodge cycles and was restricted to motives of odd weight. Here, we allow general weight and some other motivic categories, notably André's motivic category of motivated cycles; moreover, some results are also new in the odd weight case. The paper consists of two part…
