We give a complete picture of the interaction between Koszul and Ringel dualities for quasi-hereditary algebras admitting linear tilting (co)resolutions of standard and costandard modules. We show that such algebras are Koszul, that the class of these algebras is closed with respect to both dualities and that on this class these two dualities commute. All arguments reduce to short computations in the bounded derived category of graded modules.
We present an easily applicable sufficient condition for standard Koszul algebras to be Koszul with respect to $Δ$. If a quasi-hereditary algebra $Ł$ is Koszul with respect to $Δ$, then $Ł$ and the Yoneda extension algebra of $Δ$ are Koszul dual in a sense explained below, implying in particular that their bounded derived categories of finitely generated graded modules are equivalent. We also prove that the extension algebra of $Δ$ is Koszul in the classical sense.
We show that taking the wreath product of a quasi-hereditary algebra with symmetric group inherits several homological properties of the original algebra, namely BGG duality, standard Koszulity, balancedness as well as a condition which makes the Ext-algebra of its standard modules a Koszul algebra.
We give a complete picture of the interaction between Koszul and Ringel dualities for graded standardly stratified algebras (in the sense of Cline, Parshall and Scott) admitting linear tilting (co)resolutions of standard and proper costandard modules. We single out a certain class of graded standardly stratified algebras imposing the condition that standard filtrations of projective modules are finite, and develop the tilting theory for such algebras. Under the assumption of existence of linear tilting (co)resolutions we show that algebras from this class are Koszul, that both Ringel and Koszu…
The aim of this paper is to define and study some quasi-hereditary covers for higher zigzag algebras. We will show how these algebras satisfy three different Koszul properties: they are Koszul in the classical sense, standard Koszul and Koszul with respect to the standard module $Δ$, according with the definition given in \cite{Madsen1}. This last property gives rise to a well defined duality and the $Δ$-Koszul dual will be computed as the path algebra of a quiver with relations.
In this paper we focus on the relations between the derived categories of a Koszul algebra and its Yoneda algebra, in particular we want to consider the cases where these categories are triangularly equivalent. We prove that the simply connected Koszul algebras are derived equivalent to their Yoneda algebras. We consider derived discrete Koszul algebras, and we give necessary and sufficient conditions for these Koszul algebras to be derived equivalent to their Yoneda algebras. Finally, we look at the Koszul algebras such that they are derived equivalent to a hereditary algebra. In the case tha…
We show that there exists a natural non-degenerate pairing of the homomorphism space between two neighbor standard modules over a quasi-hereditary algebra with the first extension space between the corresponding costandard modules and vise versa. Investigation of this phenomenon leads to a family of pairings involving standard, costandard and tilting modules. In the graded case, under some "Koszul-like" assumptions (which we prove are satisfied for example for the blocks of the category $\mathcal{O}$), we obtain a non-degenerate pairing between certain graded homomorphism and graded extension …
For any Koszul Artin-Schelter regular algebra A, we consider a version of the universal Hopf algebra aut(A) coacting on A, introduced by Manin. To study the representations (i.e. finite dimensional comodules) of this Hopf algebra, we use the Tannaka-Krein formalism. Specifically, we construct an explicit combinatorial rigid monoidal category U, equipped with a functor M to finite dimensional vector spaces such that aut(A)= coend_U(M). Using this pair (U,M) we show that aut(A) is quasi-hereditary as a coalgebra and in addition is derived equivalent to the representation category of U.
Let $A = \bigoplus_{i \geqslant 0} A_i$ be a graded locally finite $k$-algebra such that $A_0$ is an arbitrary finite-dimensional algebra satisfying some splitting condition. In this paper we develop a generalized Koszul theory generalizing many classical results, and use it to classify algebras stratified for all preorders.
We define and investigate a class of Koszul quasi-hereditary algebras for which there is a natural equivalence between the bounded derived category of graded modules and the bounded derived category of graded modules over (a proper version of) the extension algebra of standard modules. Examples of such algebras include, in particular, the multiplicity free blocks of the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$, and some quasi-hereditary algebras with Cartan decomposition in the sense of K{ö}nig.
Let $X$ be a partial flag variety, stratified by orbits of the Borel. We give a criterion for the category of modular perverse sheaves to be equivalent to modules over a Koszul ring. This implies that modular category $\mathcal O$ is governed by a Koszul-algebra in small examples.
In their previous work, S. Koenig, S. Ovsienko and the second author showed that every quasi-hereditary algebra is Morita equivalent to the right algebra, i.e. the opposite algebra of the left dual, of a coring. Let $A$ be an associative algebra and $V$ an $A$-coring whose right algebra $R$ is quasi-hereditary. In this paper, we give a combinatorial description of an associative algebra $B$ and a $B$-coring $W$ whose right algebra is the Ringel dual of $R$. We apply our results in small examples to obtain restrictions on the $A_\infty$-structure of the $\textrm{Ext}$-algebra of standard module…
There are many structures (algebras, categories, etc) with natural gradings such that the degree 0 components are not semisimple. Particular examples include tensor algebras with non-semisimple degree 0 parts, extension algebras of standard modules of standardly stratified algebras. In this thesis we develop a generalized Koszul theory for graded algebras (categories) whose degree 0 parts may be non-semisimple. Under some extra assumption, we show that this generalized Koszul theory preserves many classical results such as the Koszul duality. Moreover, it has some close relation to the classic…
Given a quasi-hereditary algebra $B$, we present conditions which guarantee that the algebra $\gr B$ obtained by grading $B$ by its radical filtration is Koszul and at the same time inherits the quasi-hereditary property and other good Lie-theoretic properties that $B$ might possess. The method involves working with a pair $(A,{\mathfrak a})$ consisting of a quasi-hereditary algebra $A$ and a (positively) graded subalgebra $\mathfrak a$. The algebra $B$ arises as a quotient $B=A/J$ of $A$ by a defining ideal $J$ of $A$. Along the way, we also show that the standard (Weyl) modules for $B$ have …
In a recent paper Cohen, Liu and Yu introduce the Type $C$ Brauer algebra. We show that this algebra is an iterated inflation of hyperoctahedral groups, and that it is cellularly stratified. This gives an indexing set of the standard modules, results on decomposition numbers, and the conditions under which the algebra is quasi-hereditary.
In this article we study higher preprojective algebras, showing that various known results for ordinary preprojective algebras generalize to the higher setting. We first show that the quiver of the higher preprojective algebra is obtained by adding arrows to the quiver of the original algebra, and these arrows can be read off from the last term of the bimodule resolution of the original algebra. In the Koszul case we are able to obtain the new relations of the higher preprojective algebra by differentiating a superpotential and we show that when our original algebra is $d$-hereditary all the r…
Let $A = \bigoplus_{i \geqslant 0} A_i$ be a graded locally finite $k$-algebra such that $A_0$ is an arbitrary finite-dimensional algebra satisfying a certain splitting condition. In this paper we develop a generalized Koszul theory preserving many classical results. Moreover, we define a quotient graded algebra $\bar{A} = \bigoplus_{i \geqslant 0} \bar{A}_i$ and show that $A$ is a generalized Koszul algebra if and only if $\bar{A}$ is a classical Koszul algebra and a projective $A_0$-module. We also describe an application of this theory to the extension algebras of standard modules of standa…
We prove uniqueness of the essential order for stratified algebras having simple preserving duality, generalizing a recent result of Coulembier for quasi-hereditary algebras. We apply this to classify, up to equivalence, regular integral blocks of $\mathcal{S}$-subcategories in the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$. We also describe various homological invariants of these blocks.
We associate to a sufficiently generic oriented matroid program and choice of linear system of parameters a finite dimensional algebra, whose representation theory is analogous to blocks of Bernstein--Gelfand--Gelfand category $\mathcal O$. When the data above comes from a generic linear program for a hyperplane arrangement, we recover the algebra defined by Braden--Licata--Proudfoot--Webster. Applying our construction to nonlinear oriented matroid programs provides a large new class of algebras. For Euclidean oriented matroid programs, the resulting algebras are quasi-hereditary and Koszul, a…
In this article we study the properties of preprojective algebras of representation finite species. To understand the structure of a preprojective algebra, one often studies its Nakayama automorphism. A complete description of the Nakayama automorphism is given by Brenner, Butler and King when the algebra is given by a path algebra. We generalize this result to the species case. We show that the preprojective algebra of a representation finite species is an almost Koszul algebra. With this we know that almost Koszul complexes exist. It turns out that the almost Koszul complex for a representat…
We show that the Brauer algebra over the complex numbers for an integral parameter delta can be equipped with a grading, in the case of delta being non-zero turning it into a graded quasi-hereditary algebra. In which case it is Morita equivalent to a Koszul algebra. This is done by realizing the Brauer algebra as an idempotent truncation of a certain level two VW-algebra for some large positive integral parameter N. The parameter delta appears then in the choice of a cyclotomic quotient. This cyclotomic VW-algebra arises naturally as an endomorphism algebra of a certain projective module in pa…
We determine all values of the parameters for which the cell modules form a standard system, for a class of cellular diagram algebras including partition, Brauer, walled Brauer, Temperley-Lieb and Jones algebras. For this, we develop and apply a general theory of algebras with Borelic pairs. The theory is also applied to give new uniform proofs of the cellular and quasi-hereditary properties of the diagram algebras and to construct quasi-hereditary 1-covers, in the sense of Rouquier, with exact Borel subalgebras, in the sense of König. Another application of the theory leads to a proof that Au…
Let $\g$ be a reductive Lie algebra and $V$ a $\g$-semisimple module. In this article, we study the category $\G$ of graded finite-dimensional representations of $\g \ltimes V$. We produce a large class of truncated subcategories, which are directed and highest weight. Suppose $V$ is finite-dimensional with weights $\wt(V)$. Let $Ψ\subset \wt(V)$ be the set of weights contained in a face $\F$ of the polytope that is the convex hull of $\wt(V)$. For each such $Ψ$, we produce quasi-hereditary Koszul algebras. We use these Koszul algebras to construct an infinite-dimensional graded subalgebra $\s…
In this paper we describe several characterizations of basic finite-dimensional $k$-algebras $A$ stratified for all linear orders, and classify their graded algebras as tensor algebras satisfying some extra property. We also discuss whether for a given preorder $\preccurlyeq$, $\mathcal{F} (_{\preccurlyeq} Δ)$, the category of $A$-modules with $_{\preccurlyeq} Δ$-filtrations, is closed under cokernels of monomorphisms, and classify quasi-hereditary algebras satisfying this property.
We give necessary and sufficient conditions for zigzag algebras and certain generalizations of them to be (relative) cellular, quasi-hereditary or Koszul.
We study the cokernel of the application given by the Cartan Matrix $C_Λ$ of a finite dimensional $k$-algebra $Λ.$ This produces a finitely generated abelian group, the Cartan group $G_Λ,$ which is invariant under derived equivalences. We are interested in the case when $G_Λ$ is finite. For a standardly stratified algebra, it is shown that this group is always finite and some interesting connections with the standard modules are found. As a consequence, it is got that $G_Λ$ can be seen as a measure of how far is a standardly stratified algebra $Λ$ to be quasi-hereditary. Finally, it is also sh…
For a stratified topological space we introduce the category of IC-modules, which are linear algebra devices with the relations described by the equation d^2=0. We prove that the category of (mixed) IC-modules is equivalent to the category of (mixed) perverse sheaves for flag varieties. As an application, we describe an algorithm calculating the quiver underlying the BGG category O for arbitrary simple Lie algebra, thus answering a question which goes back to I. M. Gelfand.
Let $A$ be a Nakayama algebra with $n$ simple modules and a simple module $S$ of even projective dimension $m$. Choose $m$ minimal such that a simple $A$-module with projective dimension $2m$ exists, then we show that the global dimension of $A$ is bounded by $n+m-1$. This gives a combined generalisation of results of Gustafson \cite{Gus} and Madsen \cite{Mad}. In \cite{Bro}, Brown proved that the global dimension of quasi-hereditary Nakayama algebras with $n$ simple modules is bounded by $n$. Using our result on the bounds of global dimensions of Nakayama algebras, we give a short new proof o…
We introduce the notion of a cellular system in order to deal with quasi-hereditary algebras. We shall prove that a necessary and sufficient condition for an algebra to be quasi-hereditary is the existence of a full divisible cellular system. As a further application, we prove that the existence of a full local cellular system is a sufficient condition for a standardly stratified algebra.
In our companion paper "The Manin Hopf algebra of a Koszul Artin-Schelter regular algebra is quasi-hereditary" we used the Tannaka-Krein formalism to study the universal coacting Hopf algebra aut(A) for a Koszul Artin-Schelter regular algebra A. In this paper we study in detail the case A=k[x,y]. In particular we give a more precise description of the standard and costandard representations of aut(A) as a coalgebra and we show that the latter can be obtained by induction from a Borel quotient algebra. Finally we give a combinatorial characterization of the simple aut(A)-representations as tens…
Let $G$ be a semisimple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field $k$ of positive characteristic $p$. Under some restrictions on the size of $p$, the present paper establishes new results on the $G$-module structure of $\Ext^\bullet_{G_1}(V,W)$ when $V,W$ belong to several important classes of rational $G$-modules, and $G_1$ denotes the first Frobenius kernel of $G$. For example, it is proved that, if $L,L'$ are ($p$-regular) irreducible $G_1$-modules, then $\Ext^n_{G_1}(L,L')^{[-1]}$ has a good filtration with computable multiplicities. This and many other results depend on the entir…
This paper aims at developing a "local--global" approach for various types of finite dimensional algebras, especially those related to Hecke algebras. The eventual intention is to apply the methods and applications developed here to the cross-characteristic representation theory of finite groups of Lie type. The authors first review the notions of quasi-hereditary and stratified algebras over a Noetherian commutative ring. They prove that many global properties of these algebras hold if and only if they hold locally at every prime ideal. When the commutative ring is sufficiently good, it is of…
The (Iwahori-)Hecke algebra in the title is a $q$-deformation $\sH$ of the group algebra of a finite Weyl group $W$. The algebra $\sH$ has a natural enlargement to an endomorphism algebra $\sA=\End_\sH(\sT)$ where $\sT$ is a $q$-permutation module. In type $A_n$ (i.e., $W\cong {\mathfrak S}_{n+1}$), the algebra $\sA$ is a $q$-Schur algebra which is quasi-hereditary and plays an important role in the modular representation of the finite groups of Lie type. In other types, $\sA$ is not always quasi-hereditary, but the authors conjectured 20 year ago that $\sT$ can be enlarged to an $\sH$-module …
We give an algebraic construction of standard modules (infinite dimensional modules categorifying the PBW basis of the underlying quantized enveloping algebra) for Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras in all finite types. This allows us to prove in an elementary way that these algebras satisfy the homological properties of an `affine quasi-hereditary algebra.' In simply-laced types these properties were established originally by Kato via a geometric approach. We also construct some Koszul-like projective resolutions of standard modules corresponding to multiplicity-free positive roots.
Let $A$ be a finite dimensional $k$-algebra standardly stratified for a partial order $\leqslant$ and $Δ$ be the direct sum of all standard modules. In this paper we study the extension algebra $E= \text{Ext}_A^{\ast} (Δ, Δ)$ of standard modules, characterize the stratification property of $E$ for $\leqslant$ and $\leqslant ^{op}$, and obtain a sufficient condition for $E$ to be a generalized Koszul algebra (in a sense which we define).
We define a graded quasi-hereditary covering for the cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras $\mathcal{R}^Λ_n$ of type $A$ when $e=0$ (the linear quiver) or $e\ge n$. We show that these algebras are quasi-hereditary graded cellular algebras by giving explicit homogeneous bases for them. When $e=0$ we show that the KLR grading on the quiver Hecke algebras is compatible with the gradings on parabolic category $\mathcal{O}$ previously introduced in the works of Beilinson, Ginzburg and Soergel and Backelin. As a consequence, we show that when $e=0$ our graded Schur algebras are Koszul over field of chara…
Let $G$ be a finite group of Lie type. In studying the cross-characteristic representation theory of $G$, the (specialized) Hecke algebra $H=\End_G(\ind_B^G1_B)$ has played a important role. In particular, when $G=GL_n(\mathbb F_q)$ is a finite general linear group, this approach led to the Dipper-James theory of $q$-Schur algebras $A$. These algebras can be constructed over $\sZ:=\mathbb Z[t,t^{-1}]$ as the $q$-analog (with $q=t^2$) of an endomorphism algebra larger than $H$, involving parabolic subgroups. The algebra $A$ is quasi-hereditary over $\sZ$. An analogous algebra, still denoted $A$…
Let $A$ be a standardly stratified algebra over a field $K$ and $T$ a tilting module over $A$. Let $Λ^+$ be an indexing set of all simple modules in $A\lmod$. We show that if there is an integer $r\in\N$ such that for any $λ\inΛ^+$, there is an embedding $Δ(λ)\hookrightarrow T^{\oplus r}$ as well as an epimorphism $T^{\oplus r}\twoheadrightarrow\overline{\nabla}(λ)$ as $A$-modules, then $T$ is a faithful $A$-module and $A$ has the double centraliser property with respect to $T$. As applications, we prove that if $A$ is quasi-hereditary with a simple preserving duality and $T$ a given faithful …
