Building on techniques used in the case of the disc, we use a variety of methods to develop formulae for the adjoints of composition operators on Hardy spaces of the upper half-plane. In doing so, we prove a slight extension of a known necessary condition for the boundedness of such operators, and use it to provide a complete classification of the bounded composition operators with rational symbol. We then consider some specific examples, comparing our formulae with each other, and with other easily deduced formulae for simple cases.
Maximal and atomic Hardy spaces Hp and HAp , are considered in the setting of a doubling metric measure space in the presence of a non-negative self-adjoint operator whose heat kernel has Gaussian localization and the Markov property. It is shown that Hp = HAp with equivalent norms.
In this paper we study the self-adjoint and co-isometry composition and weighted composition operator on $H_E(ζ).$ We also discuss the conditions under which adjoint operator of a composition and weighted composition operator on $H_E(ζ)$ to be some composition and weighted composition operator, respectively.
In this paper we study Hardy spaces associated with non-negative self-adjoint operators and develop their vector-valued theory. The complex interpolation scales of vector-valued tent spaces and Hardy spaces are extended to the endpoint p=1. The holomorphic functional calculus of L is also shown to be bounded on the associated Hardy space H^1_L(X). These results, along with the atomic decomposition for the aforementioned space, rely on boundedness of certain integral operators on the tent space T^1(X).
It is well known that on the Hardy space $H^2(\mathbb{D})$ or weighted Bergman space $A^2_α(\mathbb{D})$ over the unit disk, the adjoint of a linear fractional composition operator equals the product of a composition operator and two Toeplitz operators. On $S^2(\mathbb{D})$, the space of analytic functions on the disk whose first derivatives belong to $H^2(\mathbb{D})$, Heller showed that a similar formula holds modulo the ideal of compact operators. In this paper we investigate what the situation is like on other weighted Hardy spaces.
Let $Ω$ be a domain in $\Ri^d$ with boundary $Γ$${\!,}$ $d_Γ$ the Euclidean distance to the boundary and $H=-\divv(C\,\nabla)$ an elliptic operator with $C=(\,c_{kl}\,)>0$ where $c_{kl}=c_{lk}$ are real, bounded, Lipschitz functions. We assume that $C\sim c\,d_Γ^{\,δ}$ as $d_Γ\to0$ in the sense of asymptotic analysis where $c$ is a strictly positive, bounded, Lipschitz function and $δ\geq0$. We also assume that there is an $r>0$ and a $ b_{δ,r}>0$ such that the weighted Hardy inequality \[ \int_{Γ_{\!\!r}} d_Γ^{\,δ}\,|\nabla ψ|^2\geq b_{δ,r}^{\,2}\int_{Γ_{\!\!r}} d_Γ^{\,δ-2}\,| ψ|^2 \] is vali…
In this paper we introduce variable exponent local Hardy spaces associated with a non-negative self-adjoint operator L. We define them by using an area square integral involving the heat semigroup associated to L. A molecular characterization is established and as an aplication of the molecular characterization we prove that our local Hardy space coincides with the (global) variable exponent Hardy space associated to L, provided that 0 does not belong to the spectrum of L. Also, we show that it coincides with the global variable exponent Hardy space associated to L+I.
In this paper, we investigate weighted composition, Volterra and Integral operators on second derivative Hardy spaces. Some equivalent conditions for boundedness of the operators will be given using the boundedness on the Hardy spaces. Also we give a criteria for compactness of weighted composition operators.
We study the composition operators of the Hardy space on D $\infty$ $\cap$ {\ell} 1 , the {\ell} 1 part of the infinite polydisk, and the behavior of their approximation numbers.
In this paper, we investigate the conditions under which the Toeplitz Composition operator on the Hardy space $\mathcal{H}^2$ becomes complex symmetric with respect to a certain conjugation. We also study various normality conditions for the Toeplitz Composition operator on $\mathcal{H}^2$.
We consider the products of composition and differentiation operators on the Hardy space. We provide a complete characterization of the boundedness and compactness of these operators. Furthermore, we obtain the explicit condition for these operators to be Hilbert-Schmidt operators.
We consider the abstract non-negative self-adjoint operator $L$ acting on $L^2(X)$ which satisfies Davies-Gaffney estimates and the corresponding Hardy spaces $H^p_L(X)$. We assume that doubling condition holds for the metric measure space $X$. We show that a sharp Hörmander-type spectral multiplier theorem on $H^p_L(X)$ follows from restriction type estimates and the Davies-Gaffney estimates. We also describe the sharp result for the boundedness of Bochner-Riesz means on $H^p_L(X)$.
In this paper, new equivalence theorems for the boundedness of the composition of a quasilinear operator $T$ with the Hardy and Copson operators in weighted Lebesgue spaces are proved. The usefulness of the obtained results is illustrated in the case of weighted Hardy-type and weighted iterated Hardy-type inequalities.
In this paper, we study the basic properties such as boundedness and compactness of composition operators on discrete analogue of generalized Hardy space defined on a homogeneous rooted tree. Also, we compute the operator norm of composition operator when inducing symbol is automorphism of a homogenous tree.
It is known, from results of B. MacCluer and J. Shapiro (1986), that every composition operator which is compact on the Hardy space $H^p$, $1 \leq p < \infty$, is also compact on the Bergman space ${\mathfrak B}^p = L^p_a (\D)$. In this survey, after having described the above known results, we consider Hardy-Orlicz $H^Ψ$ and Bergman-Orlicz ${\mathfrak B}^Ψ$ spaces, characterize the compactness of their composition operators, and show that there exist Orlicz functions for which there are composition operators which are compact on $H^Ψ$ but not on ${\mathfrak B}^Ψ$.
We compare the compactness of composition operators on $H^2$ and on Orlicz-Hardy spaces $H^Ψ$. We show in particular that exists an Orlicz function $Ψ$ such that $H^{3+\eps} \subseteq H^Ψ\subseteq H^3$ for every $\eps >0$, and a composition operator $C_ϕ$ which is compact on $H^3$ and on $H^{3+\eps}$, but not compact on $H^Ψ$.
We compute the spectra and the essential spectra of bounded linear fractional composition operators acting on the Hardy and weighted Bergman spaces of the upper half-plane. We are also able to extend the results to weighted Dirichlet spaces of the upper half-plane.
We generalize, on one hand, some results known for composition operators on Hardy spaces to the case of Hardy-Orlicz spaces $H^Ψ$: construction of a "slow" Blaschke product giving a non-compact composition operator on $H^Ψ$; construction of a surjective symbol whose composition operator is compact on $H^Ψ$ and, moreover, is in all the Schatten classes $S_p (H^2)$, $p > 0$. On the other hand, we revisit the classical case of composition operators on $H^2$, giving first a new, and simplier, characterization of closed range composition operators, and then showing directly the equivalence of the t…
We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the composition and weighted composition operator and product of composition operators to be isometry and unitary on $H_{E}(ξ).$ With the help of counter example we also prove that the product of two non isometric composition operator and weighted composition operator can be isometry on $H_{E}(ξ)$. We also completely characterize the boundedness of generalized weighted composition operators on $H_{E}(ξ).$
We complete the different cases remaining in the estimation of the essential norm of a weighted composition operator acting between the Hardy spaces $H^p$ and $H^q$ for $1\leq p,q\leq\infty.$ In particular we give some estimates for the cases $1=p\leq q\leq\infty$ and $1\leq q<p\leq\infty.$
We investigate composition operators on Hardy-Orlicz spaces when the Orlicz function $Ψ$ grows rapidly: compactness, weak compactness, to be $p$-summing, order bounded,..., and show how these notions behave according to the growth of $Ψ$. We introduce an adapted version of Carleson measure. We construct various examples showing that our results are essentially sharp. In the last part, we study the case of Bergman-Orlicz spaces.
In this paper, we consider the sum of weighted composition operator $C_{ψ_{0},φ_{0}}$ and the weighted composition--differentiation operator $D_{ψ_{n},φ_{n},n}$ on the Hardy and weighted Bergman spaces. We describe the spectrum of a compact operator $C_{ψ_{0},φ_{0}}+D_{ψ_{n},φ_{n},n}$ when the fixed point $w$ of $φ_{0}$ and $φ_{n}$ is inside the open unit disk and $ψ_{n}$ has a zero at $w$ of order at least $n$. Also the lower estimate and the upper estimate on the norm of a weighted composition--differentiation operator on the Hardy space $H^{2}$ are obtained. Furthermore, we determine the no…
The aim of this paper is to study when two composition operators on the Hilbert space of Dirichlet series with square summable coefficients belong to the same component or when their difference is compact. As a corollary we show that if a linear combination of composition operators with polynomial symbols of degree at most 2 is compact, then each composition operator is compact.
Let $Ω_1,Ω_2\subset {\mathbb C}$ be bounded domains. Let $ϕ:Ω_1\rightarrow Ω_2$ holomorphic in $Ω_1$ and belonging to $W^{1,\infty}_{Ω_2}(Ω_1)$. We study the composition operators $f\mapsto f\circϕ$ on generalized Hardy spaces on $Ω_2$, recently considered in \cite{bfl, BLRR}. In particular, we provide necessary and/or sufficient conditions on $ϕ$, depending on the geometry of the domains, ensuring that these operators are bounded, invertible, isometric or compact. Some of our results are new even for Hardy spaces of analytic functions.
We study when multiplication by a weight can turn a non-compact composition operator on H 2 into a compact operator, and when it can be in Schatten classes. The q-summing case in H p is considered. We also study when this multiplication can turn a compact composition operator into a non-compact one. MSC 2010 primary: 47B33 ; secondary: 46B28
In this paper, we investigate when weighted composition operators acting on Dirichlet spaces $\mathcal{D}(\mathbb{B}_{N})$ are complex symmetric with respect to some special conjugations, and provide some characterizations of Hermitian weighted composition operators on $\mathcal{D}(\mathbb{B}_{N})$. Furthermore, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for $J$-symmetric weighted composition operators on Hardy spaces $H^2(\mathbb{B}_{N})$ to be unitary or Hermitian, then some new examples of complex symmetric weighted composition operators on $H^2(\mathbb{B}_{N})$ are obtained. We also disc…
This paper provides a class of complex symmetric weighted composition operators on $H^2(\mathbb{D})$ to includes the unitary subclass, the Hermitian subclass and the normal subclass obtained by Bourdon and Noor. A characterization of algebraic weighted composition operator with degree no more than two is provided to illustrate that the weight function of a complex symmetric weighted composition operator is not necessarily linear fractional. \end{abstract}
Local Hardy Spaces Associated with Ball Quasi-Banach Function Spaces and Non-negative Self-adjoint Operators on Spaces of Homogeneous Type and Their Applications
We construct an analytic self-map $Φ$ of the bidisk ${\mathbb D}^2$ whose image touches the distinguished boundary, but whose approximation numbers of the associated composition operator on $H^2 ({\mathbb D}^2)$ are small in the sense that $\limsup_{n \to \infty} [a_{n^2} (C_Φ)]^{1 / n} < 1$.
In this paper, we investigate the normal weighed composition operators $W_{ψ,φ}$ which is $\mathcal{J}-$symmetric, $\mathcal{C}_1-$symmetric and $\mathcal{C}_2-$symmetric on the Hardy space $H^2(\mathbb{D})$ respectively. Firstly, equivalent conditions of the normality of $\mathcal{C}_1-$symmetric and $\mathcal{C}_2-$symmetric weighted composition operators on $H^2(\mathbb{D})$ is given. Furthermore, the normal $\mathcal{J}-$symmetric, $\mathcal{C}_1-$symmetric and $\mathcal{C}_2-$symmetric weighted composition operators on $H^2(\mathbb{D})$ when $φ$ has an interior fixed point, $φ$ is of hype…
In the present paper, we study the composition operators acting on weighted Hardy spaces of polynomial growth, which are concerned with norms, spectra and (semi-)Fredholmness. Firstly, we estimate the norms of the composition operators with symbols of disk automorphisms. Secondly, we discuss the spectra of the composition operators with symbols of disk automorphisms. In particular, it is proven of that the spectrum of a composition operator with symbol of any parabolic disk automorphism is always the unit circle. Thirdly, we consider the Fredholmness of the composition operator $C_φ$ with symb…
We consider the problem of essential self-adjointness of the drift-diffusion operator $H=-\frac{1}ρ\nabla\cdot ρ\mathbb D\nabla +V$ on domains $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^d$ with $\mathcal{C}^2$-boundary $\partial Ω$ and for large classes of coefficients $ρ,\; \mathbb{D}$ and $V$. We give criteria showing how the behavior as $x \rightarrow \partial Ω$ of these coefficients balances to ensure essential self-adjointness of $H$. On the way we prove a weak anisotropic Hardy inequality which is of independent interest.
Using recent characterizations of the compactness of composition operators on Hardy-Orlicz and Bergman-Orlicz spaces on the ball, we first show that a composition operator which is compact on every Hardy-Orlicz (or Bergman-Orlicz) space has to be compact on H^{\infty}. Then, we prove that, for each Koranyi region Γ, there exists a map ϕtaking the ball into Γsuch that, C_ϕ is not compact on H^ψ\left(\mathbb{B}_{N}\right), when ψgrows fast. Finally, we give another characterization of the compactness of composition operator on weighted Bergman-Orlicz spaces in terms of an Orlicz "Angular derivat…
Let $X$ be a space of homogeneous type and let $L$ be an injective, non-negative, self-adjoint operator on $L^2(X)$ such that the semigroup generated by $-L$ fulfills Davies-Gaffney estimates of arbitrary order. We prove that the operator $F(L)$, initially defined on $H^1_L(X)\cap L^2(X)$, acts as a bounded linear operator on the Hardy space $H^1_L(X)$ associated with $L$ whenever $F$ is a bounded, sufficiently smooth function. Based on this result, together with interpolation, we establish Hörmander type spectral multiplier theorems on Lebesgue spaces for non-negative, self-adjoint operators …
We characterize the (essentially) decreasing sequences of positive numbers $β$ = ($β$ n) for which all composition operators on H 2 ($β$) are bounded, where H 2 ($β$) is the space of analytic functions f in the unit disk such that $\infty$ n=0 |c n | 2 $β$ n < $\infty$ if f (z) = $\infty$ n=0 c n z n. We also give conditions for the boundedness when $β$ is not assumed essentially decreasing.
By using the Schur test, we give some upper and lower estimates on the norm of a composition operator on $\mathcal{H}^2$, the space of Dirichlet series with square summable coefficients, for the inducing symbol $φ(s)=c_1+c_{q}q^{-s}$ where $q\geq 2$ is a fixed integer. We also give an estimate on the approximation numbers of such an operator.
We give examples of composition operators $C\_Φ$ on $H^2 (\D^2)$ showing that the condition $\|Φ\|\_\infty = 1$ is not sufficient for their approximation numbers $a\_n (C\_Φ)$ to satisfy $\lim\_{n \to \infty} [a\_n (C\_Φ) ]^{1/\sqrt{n}} = 1$, contrary to the $1$-dimensional case. We also give a situation where this implication holds. We make a link with the Monge-Ampère capacity of the image of $Φ$.
We consider a non-negative self-adjoint operator L satisfying generalized Gaussian estimates on a doubling metric measure space, and show that if L has a spectral gap then the local and global Hardy spaces defined by means of appropriate square functions coincide.
If $ψ$ is analytic on the open unit disk $\mathbb{D}$ and $φ$ is an analytic self-map of $\mathbb{D}$, the weighted composition operator $C_{ψ,φ}$ is defined by $C_{ψ,φ}f(z)=ψ(z)f (φ(z))$, when $f$ is analytic on $\mathbb{D}$. In this paper, we study normal, cohyponormal, hyponormal and normaloid weighted composition operators on the Hardy and weighted Bergman spaces. First, for some weighted Hardy spaces $H^{2}(β)$, we prove that if $C_{ψ,φ}$ is cohyponormal on $H^{2}(β)$, then $ψ$ never vanishes on $\mathbb{D}$ and $φ$ is univalent, when $ψ\not \equiv 0$ and $φ$ is not a constant function. M…
In this paper we propose a different (and equivalent) norm on $S^{2} ({\mathbb{D}})$ which consists of functions whose derivatives are in the Hardy space of unit disk. The reproducing kernel of $S^{2}({\mathbb{D}})$ in this norm admits an explicit form, and it is a complete Nevanlinna-Pick kernel. Furthermore, there is a surprising connection of this norm with $3$ -isometries. We then study composition and multiplication operators on this space. Specifically, we obtain an upper bound for the norm of $C_φ$ for a class of composition operators. We completely characterize multiplication operators…
In this paper we obtain characterizations for adjoint of a composition and weighted composition operator to be composition and weighted composition operator on $F_ψ^2,$ respectively. We study the co-isometry composition and weighted composition operators on $F_ψ^2.$
Building on techniques developed by Cowen and Gallardo-Gutiérrez, we find a concrete formula for the adjoint of a composition operator with rational symbol acting on the Hardy space $H^{2}$. We consider some specific examples, comparing our formula with several results that were previously known.
In this paper, we study hyponormal weighed composition operators on the Hardy and weighted Bergman spaces. For functions $ψ\in A(\mathbb{D})$ which are not the zero function, we characterize all hyponormal compact weighted composition operators $C_{ψ,φ}$ on $H^{2}$ and $A^{2}_α$. Next, we show that for $φ\in \mbox{LFT}(\mathbb{D})$, if $C_φ$ is hyponormal on $H^{2}$ or $A^{2}_α$, then $φ(z)=λz$, where $|λ| \leq 1$ or $φ$ is a hyperbolic non-automorphism with $φ(0)=0$ and such that $φ$ has another fixed point in $\partial \mathbb{D}$. After that, we find the essential spectral radius of $C_φ$ o…
We consider a homogeneous tree endowed with a nondoubling flow measure $μ$ of exponential growth and a probabilistic Laplacian $\mathcal{L}$ self-adjoint with respect to $μ$. We prove that the maximal characterization in terms of the heat and the Poisson semigroup of $\mathcal{L}$ and the Riesz transform characterization of the atomic Hardy space introduced in a previous work fail.
In this paper, we introduce a discrete analogue of weighted Hardy spaces on rooted trees and study weighted composition operators between them in detail. In particular, we characterize bounded and compact weighted composition operators between discrete Hardy spaces. We also consider isometric weighted composition operators between these spaces.
Let $L$ be a non-negative self-adjoint operator on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)$ whose heat kernels have the Gaussian upper bound estimates. Assume that the growth function $φ:\,\mathbb{R}^n\times[0,\infty) \to[0,\infty)$ satisfies that $φ(x,\cdot)$ is an Orlicz function and $φ(\cdot,t)\in {\mathbb A}_{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ (the class of uniformly Muckenhoupt weights). Let $H_{φ,\,L}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ be the Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy space introduced via the Lusin area function associated with the heat semigroup of $L$. In this article, the authors obtain several maximal function characterizations of the spac…
In this article, we characterize nearly invariant subspaces of finite defect for the backward shift operator acting on the vector-valued Hardy space which is a vectorial generalization of a result of Chalendar-Gallardo-Partington (C-G-P). Using this characterization of nearly invariant subspace under the backward shift we completely describe the almost invariant subspaces for the shift and its adjoint acting on the vector valued Hardy space.
We fully describe the doubly stochastic orbit of a self-adjoint element in the noncommutative $L_1$-space affiliated with a semifinite von Neumann algebra, which answers a problem posed by Alberti and Uhlmann in the 1980s, extending several results in the literature. It follows further from our methods that, for any $σ$-finite von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{M}$ equipped a semifinite infinite faithful normal trace $τ$, there exists a self-adjoint operator $y\in L_1(\mathcal{M},τ)$ such that the doubly stochastic orbit of $y$ does not coincide with the orbit of $y$ in the sense of Hardy--Littlewo…
In this paper, we completely characterize the order boundedness of weighted composition operators between different weighted Dirichlet spaces and different derivative Hardy spaces.
We present the upper bound of the essential norm of the composition operator over the Polylogarithmic Hardy space PL2(D;s).The results involve the Nevanlinna counting function for PL2(D;s). We first prove the Littlewood-Paley Identity for PL2(D;s) which leads to the Nevanlinna counting function for PL2(D;s). With all these results, not only we get the upper bound of the essential norm of the composition operator over PL2(D;s) but also we get an upper bound in terms of the angular derivative and essential norm of composition operator over the Hardy space H2.
Let $p(\cdot):\ \mathbb R^n\to(0,1]$ be a variable exponent function satisfying the globally $\log$-Hölder continuous condition and $L$ a non-negative self-adjoint operator on $L^2(\mathbb R^n)$ whose heat kernels satisfying the Gaussian upper bound estimates. Let $H_L^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb R^n)$ be the variable exponent Hardy space defined via the Lusin area function associated with the heat kernels $\{e^{-t^2L}\}_{t\in (0,\infty)}$. In this article, the authors first establish the atomic characterization of $H_L^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb R^n)$; using this, the authors then obtain its non-tangential ma…
We consider continuous semigroups of analytic functions $\{Φ_t\}_{t\geq0}$ in the so-called Gordon-Hedenmalm class $\mathcal{G}$, that is, the family of analytic functions $Φ:\mathbb C_+\to \mathbb C_+$ giving rise to bounded composition operators in the Hardy space of Dirichlet series $\mathcal{H}^2$. We show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between continuous semigroups $\{Φ_{t}\}_{t\geq0}$ in the class $\mathcal G$ and strongly continuous semigroups of composition operators $\{T_t\}_{t\geq0}$, where $T_t(f)=f\circΦ_t$, $f\in\mathcal{H}^2$. We extend these results for the range $p\i…
