We use the reduction of the string dynamics on AdS_4 x CP^3 to the Neumann-Rosochatius integrable system. All constraints can be expressed simply in terms of a few parameters. We analyze the giant magnon and single spike solutions on R_t x CP^3 with two angular momenta in detail and find the energy-charge relations. The finite-size effects of the giant magnon and single spike solutions are analyzed.
An integrable deformation of the well-known Neumann-Rosochatius system is studied by considering generalised bosonic spinning solutions on the eta-deformed AdS_5 x S^5 background. For this integrable model we construct a 4x4 Lax representation and a set of integrals of motion that ensures its Liouville integrability. These integrals of motion correspond to the deformed analogues of the Neumann-Rosochatius integrals and generalise the previously found integrals for the eta-deformed Neumann and (AdS_5 x S^5)_eta geodesic systems. Finally, we briefly comment on consistent truncations of this mode…
Neumann-Rosochatius system is a well known one dimensional integrable system. We study the rotating and pulsating string in $AdS_4 \times \mathbb{CP}^3$ with a $B_{\rm{NS}}$ holonomy turned on over $\mathbb{CP}^1 \subset \mathbb{CP}^3$, or the so called Aharony-Bergman-Jafferis (ABJ) background. We observe that the string equations of motion in both cases are integrable and the Lagrangians reduce to a form similar to that of deformed Neuman-Rosochatius system. We find out the scaling relations among various conserved charges and comment on the finite size effect for the dyonic giant magnons on…
We study rigidly rotating and pulsating strings in the background of a 1+1 dimensional intersection of two orthogonal stacks of fivebranes in type IIB string theory by using the Neumann-Rosochatius (NR) model. Starting with the Polyakov action of the probe fundamental string we show that a generalised ansatz reduce the system into the one dimensional NR model in the presence of flux. The integrable construction of the model is exploited to analyze the rotating and oscillating string solution. We render the large $J$ BMN-type expansion for the energy of rotating string states while the same for…
Closed strings spinning in AdS_3 x S^3 x T^4 with mixed R-R and NS-NS three-form fluxes are described by a deformation of the one-dimensional Neumann-Rosochatius integrable system. In this article we find general solutions to this system that can be expressed in terms of elliptic functions. We consider closed strings rotating either in S^3 with two different angular momenta or in AdS_3 with one spin. In order to find the solutions we will need to extend the Uhlenbeck integrals of motion of the Neumann-Rosochatius system to include the contribution from the flux. In the limit of pure NS-NS flux…
The sigma-model of closed strings spinning in the $η$-deformation of $AdS_{5} \times S^{5}$ leads to an integrable deformation of the one-dimensional Neumann-Rosochatius mechanical system. In this article we construct general solutions to this system that can be written in terms of elliptic functions. The solutions correspond to closed strings with non-constant radii rotating with two different angular momenta in an $η$-deformed three-sphere. We analyse the reduction of the elliptic solutions for some limiting values of the deformation parameter. For the case of solutions with constant radii w…
Strings on $AdS_3 \times S^3\times S^3\times S^1$ with mixed flux exhibit exact integrability. We wish to construct an integrable Neumann-Rosochatius (NR) model of strings starting with the type IIB supergravity action in $AdS_3 \times S^3\times S^3\times S^1$ with pure NSNS flux. We observe that the forms of the Lagrangian and the Uhlenbeck integrals of motion of the considered system are NR-like with some suitable deformations which eventually appear due to the presence of flux. We utilize the integrable framework of the deformed NR model to analyze rigidly rotating spiky strings moving only…
$SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ invariant action for probe $(m,n)$ string in $AdS_3\times S^3\times T^4$ with mixed three-form fluxes can be described by an integrable deformation of an one-dimensional Neumann-Rosochatius (NR) system. We present the deformed features of the integrable model and study general class of rotating and pulsating solutions by solving the integrable equations of motion. For the rotating string, the explicit solutions can be expressed in terms of elliptic functions. We make use of the integrals of motion to find out the scaling relation among conserved charges for the particular ca…
It is known that large class of classical string solutions in the type IIB AdS_5xS^5 background is related to the Neumann and Neumann-Rosochatius integrable systems, including spiky strings and giant magnons. It is also interesting if these integrable systems can be associated with some membrane configurations in M-theory. We show here that this is indeed the case by presenting explicitly several types of membrane embedding in AdS_4xS^7 with the searched properties.
We find membrane configurations in AdS_4 x S^7, which correspond to the continuous limit of the SU(2) integrable spin chain, considered as a limit of the SU(3) spin chain, arising in N=4 SYM in four dimensions, dual to strings in AdS_5 x S^5. We also discuss the relationship with the Neumann-Rosochatius integrable system at the level of Lagrangians, comparing the string and membrane cases.
The Relationship between the Neumann system and the Jacobi system in arbitrary dimensions is elucidated from the point of view of constrained Hamiltonian systems. Dirac brackets for canonical variables of both systems are derived from the constrained Hamiltonians. The geodesic equations corresponding to the Rosochatius system are studied as an application of our method. As a consequence a new class of nonlinear integrable equations is derived along with their conserved quantities.
A general class of rotating closed string solutions in AdS_5 x S^5 is shown to be described by a Neumann-Rosochatius one-dimensional integrable system. The latter represents an oscillator on a sphere or a hyperboloid with an additional ``centrifugal'' potential. We expect that the reduction of the AdS_5 x S^5 sigma model to the Neumann-Rosochatius system should have further generalizations and should be useful for uncovering new relations between integrable structures on the two sides of the AdS/CFT duality. We find, in particular, new circular rotating string solutions with two AdS_5 and thre…
We show that the (torsional) nonrelativistic string sigma models on $ R\times S^2 $ can be mapped into \emph{deformed} Rosochatius like integrable models in one dimension. We also explore the associated Hamiltonian constrained structure by introducing appropriate Dirac brackets. These results show some solid evidence of the underlying integrable structure in the nonrelativistic sector of the gauge/string duality.
We describe how Neumann and Neumann-Rosochatius type integrable systems, as well as the continuous limit of the SU(2) integrable spin chain, can be obtained from membranes on AdS_4 x S^7 background, in the framework of AdS/CFT correspondence.
The sigma model describing closed strings rotating in AdS_3 x S^3 is known to reduce to the one-dimensional Neumann-Rosochatius integrable system. In this article we show that closed spinning strings in AdS_3 x S^3 x T^4 in the presence of NS-NS three-form flux can be described by an extension of the Neumann-Rosochatius system. We consider closed strings rotating with one spin in AdS_3 and two different angular momenta in S^3. For a class of solutions with constant radii we find the dependence of the classical energy on the spin and the angular momenta as an expansion in the square of the 't H…
In this paper, we consider two almost opposite sectors of actual string configuration ansätze in $AdS_5\times S^5$, which anyway have almost the same features: The two spin solution, which has constant angles in $S^5$ and the two angular momenta solution, which has constant "angels" in $AdS_5$, however for the two angular momenta solution, we have to take the time coordinate from $AdS_5$, thus there is a little asymmetry between the two string configurations in $AdS_5\times S^5$. Without being autistic, there is around $69$ equations between the similar equations in the two sectors, compare eq…
We investigate dyonic giant magnons propagating on $γ$-deformed $AdS_5\times S^5$ by Neumann-Rosochatius reduction method with a twisted boundary condition. We compute finite-size effect of the dispersion relations of dyonic giant magnons which generalizes the previously known case of the giant magnons with one angular momentum found by Bykov and Frolov.
Using the reduction of the string sigma model to the 1-d Neumann integrable model we reconstruct the closed string solution with two equal spins in AdS_5 which is specified by the number of round arcs and one winding number. From the string sigma model itself as well as its reducion to the Neumann-Rosochatius system we construct a spiky string solution with two unequal spins in AdS_5 whose ratio is fixed and derive its energy-spin relation. The string configuration is characterized by the number of spikes and two equal winding numbers associated with the two rotating angular directions.
We use the reduction of the string dynamics on R_t x S^3 to the Neumann-Rosochatius integrable system to map all string solutions described by this dynamical system onto solutions of the complex sine-Gordon integrable model. This mapping relates the parameters in the solutions on both sides of the correspondence. In the framework of this approach, we find finite-size string solutions, their images in the (complex) sine-Gordon system, and the leading finite-size effects of the single spike "E-Δϕ" relation for both R_t x S^2 and R_t x S^3 cases.
We consider semi-classical solution of membranes on the AdS_4 x S^7. This is supposed to be dual to the N=6 super Chern-Simons theory with k=1 in a planar limit recently proposed by Aharony, Bergmann, Jafferis, and Maldacena (ABJM). We have identified giant magnon and single spike states on the membrane by reducing them to the Neumamm - Rosochatius integrable system. We also connect these to the complex sine-Gordon integrable model. Based on this approach, we find finite-size membrane solutions and obtain their images in the complex sine-Gordon system along with the leading finite-size correct…
Circular strings pulsating in $AdS_3 \times S^3 \times T^4$ with mixed R-R and NS-NS three-form fluxes can be described by an integrable deformation of the one-dimensional Neumann-Rosochatius mechanical model. In this article we find a general class of pulsating solutions to this integrable system that can be expressed in terms of elliptic functions. In the limit of strings moving in $AdS_{3}$ with pure NS-NS three-form flux, where the action reduces to the $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ WZW model, we find agreement with the analysis of the classical solutions of the system performed using spectral flow b…
Recently important classes of solitonic string solutions were obtained - giant magnons and single spikes. In previous study we showed the existence of giant magnon-like membrane solutions and studied their properties. In this paper we investigate classical rotating membranes representing analog of a specific class of string spiky solutions. Using the reduction to the Neumann-Rosochatius integrable system we find analog of the string single spike solutions. In contrast to the magnon-like solutions, this case is characterized with finite difference of energy and ``winding number'' and finite spi…
We consider the most general string configurations on the R_t x S^3 subspace of AdS_5 xS^5, described by the Neumann-Rosochatius integrable system. Under some restrictions on the parameters of the solution and in an appropriate limit, they correspond to small deviation from the known finite-size giant magnon solutions with one and two angular momenta. Analyzing the finite-size effect on the dispersion relation, we find that the leading correction is modified in a way similar to the gamma-deformed case R_t x S^3_gamma. The subleading correction for a string with one angular momentum is also fou…
We consider finite-size effects for the dyonic giant magnon of the type IIA string theory on AdS_4 x CP^3 by applying Luscher mu-term formula which is derived from a recently proposed S-matrix for the N=6 super Chern-Simons theory. We compute explicitly the effect for the case of a symmetric configuration where the two external bound states, each of A and B particles, have the same momentum p and spin J_2. We compare this with the classical string theory result which we computed by reducing it to the Neumann-Rosochatius system. The two results match perfectly.
Recently, classical solutions for strings moving in AdS5 x S5 have played an important role in understanding the AdS/CFT correspondence. A large set of them were shown to follow from an ansatz that reduces the solution of the string equations of motion to the study of a well-known integrable 1-d system known as the Neumann-Rosochatius (NR) system. However, other simple solutions such as spiky strings or giant magnons in S5 were not included in the NR ansatz. We show that, when considered in the conformal gauge, these solutions can be also accomodated by a version of the NR-system. This allows …
We study a GKP-like classical string solution on a q-deformed AdS_5 x S^5 background and argue the spacetime structure by using it as a probe. The solution cannot stretch beyond the singularity surface and this result may suggest that the holographic relation is realized inside the singularity surface. This observation leads us to introduce a new coordinate system which describes the spacetime only inside the singularity surface. With the new coordinate system, we study minimal surfaces and derive a deformed Neumann-Rosochatius system with a rigid string ansatz.
We construct nonrelativistic spinning string solutions corresponding to $ SU(1,2|3) $ Spin-Matrix theory (SMT) limit of strings in $ AdS_5 \times S^5 $. Considering various nonrelativistic spinning string configurations both in $ AdS_5 $ as well as $ S^5 $ we obtain corresponding dispersion relations in the strong coupling regime of SMT where the strong coupling ($ \sim \sqrt{\mathfrak{g}} $) corrections near the BPS bound have been estimated in the slow spinning limit of strings in $ AdS_5 $. We generalize our results explicitly by constructing three spin folded string configurations that has…
The stringy picture behind the integrable spin chains governing the evolution equations in Yang-Mills theory is discussed. It is shown that one-loop dilatation operator in N=4 theory can be expressed in terms of two-point functions on 2d worldsheet. Using the relation between Neumann integrable system and the spin chains it is argued that the transition to the finite gauge theory coupling implies the discretization of the worldsheet. We conjecture that string bit model for the discretized worldsheet corresponds to the representation of the integrable spin chains in terms of the separated varia…
We show that bosonic spinning strings on the η-deformed AdS_5 x S^5 background are naturally described as periodic solutions of a novel finite-dimensional integrable system which can be viewed as a deformation of the celebrated Neumann model. For this deformed model we find the Lax representation and the analogue of the Uhlenbeck integrals.
We give a simple proof that the Neumann coefficients of surface states in Witten's SFT satisfy the Hirota equations for dispersionless KP hierarchy. In a similar way we show that the Neumann coefficients for the three string vertex in the same theory obey the Hirota equations of the dispersionless Toda Lattice hierarchy. We conjecture that the full (dispersive) Toda Lattice hierachy and, even more attractively a two--matrix model, may underlie open SFT.
We review basic examples of classical string solutions in AdS5xS5. We concentrate on simplest rigid closed string solutions of circular or folded type described by integrable 1-d Neumann system but mention also various generalizations and related open-string solutions.
We show that solitonic solutions of the classical string action on the AdS_5 x S^5 background that carry charges (spins) of the Cartan subalgebra of the global symmetry group can be classified in terms of periodic solutions of the Neumann integrable system. We derive equations which determine the energy of these solitons as a function of spins. In the limit of large spins J, the first subleading 1/J coefficient in the expansion of the string energy is expected to be non-renormalised to all orders in the inverse string tension expansion and thus can be directly compared to the 1-loop anomalous …
Rényi entropies are conceptually valuable and experimentally relevant generalisations of the celebrated von Neumann entanglement entropy. After a quantum quench in a clean quantum many-body system they generically display a universal linear growth in time followed by saturation. While a finite subsystem is essentially at local equilibrium when the entanglement saturates, it is genuinely out-of-equilibrium in the growth phase. In particular, the slope of the growth carries vital information on the nature of the system's dynamics, and its characterisation is a key objective of current research. …
