We deal with a problem of the reconstruction of any holomorphic function $f$ on the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^2$ from its restricions on a union of complex lines. We give an explicit formula of Lagrange interpolation's type that is constructed from the knowledge of $f$ and its derivatives on these lines. We prove that this formula approximates any function when the number of lines increases. The motivation of this problem comes also from possible applications in mathematical economics and medical imaging.
We consider the problem of interpolating a holomorphic family of nondegenerate holomorphic jets on C^n for n > 1, parametrized by points in a Stein manifold, by a holomorphic family of automorphisms of C^n. We show that under a suitable topological condition it is possible to find a solution, thereby generalizing results of Forstneric and Varolin concerning the nonparametric jet interpolation by automorphisms.
We give positive answer to a conjecture by Agranovsky. A continuous function on the sphere which has separate holomorphic extension along the set of complex lines passing through three non aligned interior points, is the trace of a holomorphic function in the ball.
We construct automorphisms of $\C^n$ which map certain discrete sequences one onto another with prescribed finite jet at each point, thus solving a general Mittag-Leffler interpolation problem for automorphisms. Under certain circumstances, this can be done while also approximating a given automorphism on a compact set.
We study the complexity of holomorphic isometries and proper maps from the complex unit ball to type IV classical domains. We investigate on degree estimates of holomorphic isometries and holomorphic maps with minimum target dimension. We also construct a real-parameter family of mutually inequivalent holomorphic isometries from the unit ball to type IV domains. We also provide examples of non-isometric proper holomorphic maps from the complex unit ball to classical domains.
We show that each proper holomorphic self map of a symmetric power of the unit ball is an automorphism naturally induced by an automorphism of the unit ball, provided the ball is of dimension at least two.
We first give an exposition on holomorphic isometries from the Poincaré disk to polydisks and from the Poincaré disk to the product of the Poincaré disk with a complex unit ball. As an application, we provide an example of proper holomorphic map from the unit disk to the complex unit ball that is irrational, algebraic and holomorphic on a neighborhood of the closed unit disk. We also include some new results on holomorphic isometries.
Real analytic functions on the boundary of the sphere which have separate holomorphic extension along the complex lines through a boundary point have holomorphic extension to the ball. This was proved in a previous preprint by an argument of CR geometry. We give here an elementary proof based on the expansion in holomorphic and antiholomorphic powers.
Given a Stein manifold X of dimension n>1, a discrete sequence a_j in X, and a discrete sequence b_j in C^m where m > [3n/2], there exists a proper holomorphic embedding of X into C^m which sends a_j to b_j for every j=1,2,.... This is the interpolation version of the embedding theorem due to Eliashberg, Gromov and Schurmann. The dimension m cannot be lowered in general due to an example of Forster.
In this paper we prove a Schwarz-Pick lemma for the modulus of holomorphic mappings from the polydisk into the unit ball. This result extends some related results.
We provide a necessary condition for the existence of a 3-point holomorphic interpolant $F:\mathbb{D}\longrightarrowΩ_n$, $n\geq 2$. Our condition is inequivalent to the necessary conditions hitherto known for this problem. The condition generically involves a single inequality and is reminiscent of the Schwarz lemma. We combine some of the ideas and techniques used in our result on the $\mathcal{O}(\mathbb{D},Ω_n)$-interpolation problem to establish a Schwarz lemma -- which may be of independent interest -- for holomorphic correspondences from $\mathbb{D}$ to a general planar domain $Ω\Subset…
We construct isometric holomorphic embeddings of the unit ball into higher rank symmetric domains, first discovered by Mok, in an explicit way using Jordan triple systems, and prove uniqueness results for all domains, including the exceptional domains of dimension 16 and 27.
In this paper we prove a Schwarz-Pick lemma for the modulus of holomorphic mappings between the unit balls in complex spaces. This extends the classical Schwarz-Pick lemma and the related result proved by Pavlovic.
Given a sequence of automorphisms of the polydisk, we show that the associated composition semigroup homomorphisms on the ball of bounded holomorphic functions on the polydisk admit a universal inner function if a certain condition on the automorphisms are satisfied.
We prove rigidity results for holomorphic proper maps from the complex unit ball $\mathbb{B}^n$ to the Type IV bounded symmetric domain $D^{IV}_m$ where $n \geq 4, n+1\leq m \leq 2n-3$. In addition, a classification result is established when $m=n+1.$
In this paper, we prove a general Schwarz lemma at the boundary for holomorphic mappings from the polydisc to the unit ball in any dimensions. For the special case of one complex variable, the obtained results give the classic boundary Schwarz lemma.
In this paper we studied a broader type of generalized balls which are domains on the complex projective with possibly Levi-degenerate boundaries. We proved rigidity theorems for proper holomorphic mappings among them by exploring the structure of the moduli spaces of projective linear subspaces, which generalized some earlier results for the ordinary generalized balls with Levi-nondegenerate boundaries.
Let $\mathbb{B}^2$ denote the open unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^2$, and let $p\in \mathbb{C}^2\setminus\overline{\mathbb{B}^2}$. We prove that if $f$ is an analytic function on the sphere $\partial\mathbb{B}^2$ that extends holomorphically in each variable separately and along each complex line through $p$, then $f$ is the trace of a holomorphic function in the ball.
As outlined below, this paper is devoted to a Carleson-type-measure-based study of the holomorphic Campanato $2$-space on the open unit ball $\mathbb B_n$ of $\mathbb C^n$, comprising all Hardy $2$-functions whose oscillations in non-isotropic metric balls on the compact unit sphere $\mathbb S_n$ are proportional to some power of the radius other than the dimension $n\ge 1$.
Let $f$ be a $r\times m$-matrix of holomorphic functions that is generically surjective. We provide explicit integral representation of holomorphic $ψ$ such that $ϕ=fψ$, provided that $ϕ$ is holomorphic and annihilates a certain residue current with support on the set where $f$ is not surjective. We also consider formulas for interpolation. As applications we obtain generalizations of various results previously known for the case $r=1$.
We consider inductive limits of weighted spaces of holomorphic functions in the unit ball of $\mathbb C^n$. The relationship between sets of uniqueness, weakly sufficient sets and sampling sets in these spaces is studied. In particular, the equivalence of these sets, under general conditions of the weights, is obtained.
We make several new contributions to the study of proper holomorphic mappings between balls. Our results include a degree estimate for rational proper maps, a new gap phenomenon for convex families of arbitrary proper maps, and an interesting result about inverse images.
We study proper rational maps from the unit disk to balls in higher dimensions. After gathering some known results, we study the moduli space of unitary equivalence classes of polynomial proper maps from the disk to a ball, and we establish a normal form for these equivalence classes. We also prove that all rational proper maps from the disk to a ball are homotopic in target dimension at least $2$.
We present a rigidity property of holomorphic generators on the open unit ball $\mathbb{B}$ of a Hilbert space $H$. Namely, if $f\in\Hol (\mathbb{B},H)$ is the generator of a one-parameter continuous semigroup ${F_t}_{t\geq 0}$ on $\mathbb{B}$ such that for some boundary point $τ\in \partial\mathbb{B}$, the admissible limit $K$-$\lim\limits_{z\toτ}\frac{f(x)}{\|x-τ\|^{3}}=0$, then $f$ vanishes identically on $\mathbb{B}$.
We give several characterizations of holomorphic mean Besov-Lipschitz space on the unit ball in $\cn $ and appropriate Besov-Lipschitz space and prove the equivalences between them. Equivalent norms on the mean Besov-Lipschitz space involve different types of $L^p$-moduli of continuity, while in characterizations of Besov-Lipschitz space we use not only the radial derivative but also the gradient and the tangential derivatives. The characterization in terms of the best approximation by polynomials is also given.
We prove that there is a continuous non-negative function $g$ on the unit sphere in $\cd$, $d \geq 2$, whose logarithm is integrable with respect to Lebesgue measure, and which vanishes at only one point, but such that no non-zero bounded analytic function $m$ in the unit ball, with boundary values $m^\star$, has $|m^\star| \leq g$ almost everywhere. The proof analyzes the common range of co-analytic Toeplitz operators in the Hardy space of the ball.
In this paper, we study the gap rigidity phenomenon for proper holomorphic maps between balls of different dimension. We show that any $F\in prop_3({\mathbb{B}}^n, {\mathbb{B}} ^N)$, with $3n<N\leq 4n-7$ and $n\geq 7$, is equivalent to a map of the form $(G,0)$ with $G\in Rat ({\mathbb{B}}^n,{\mathbb{B}}^{3n})$. The main ingredients for the proof of our main theorem are the normal form obtained by Huang-Ji-Xu and a lemma of the first author.
This paper reports on constructive approximation methods for three classes of holomorphic functions on the unit disk which are closely connected each other: the class of starlike and spirallike functions, the class of semigroup generators, and the class of functions with positive real part. It is more-or-less known that starlike or spirallike functions can be defined as solutions of singular differential equations which, in general, are not stable under the motion of interior singular points to the boundary. At the same time, one can establish a perturbation formula which continuously transfor…
A complex manifold $Y$ is said to have the interpolation property if a holomorphic map to $Y$ from a subvariety $S$ of a reduced Stein space $X$ has a holomorphic extension to $X$ if it has a continuous extension. Taking $S$ to be a contractible submanifold of $X=\mathbb{C}^n$ gives an ostensibly much weaker property called the convex interpolation property. By a deep theorem of Forstnerič, the two properties are equivalent. They (and about a dozen other nontrivially equivalent properties) define the class of Oka manifolds. This paper is the first attempt to develop Oka theory for singular tar…
In this paper we introduce a class of pseudo-dissipative holomorphic maps which contains, in particular, the class of infinitesimal generators of semigroups of holomorphic maps on the unit ball of a complex Banach space. We give a growth estimate for maps of this class. In particular, it follows that pseudo-dissipative maps on the unit ball of (infinite-dimensional) Banach spaces are bounded on each domain strictly contained inside the ball. We also present some applications.
We provide generalisations of two Schwarz-type lemmas -- the first a result of Globevnik and the other due to Ransford and White -- for holomorphic mappings into the spectral unit ball. The first concerns mappings of the unit disc in C into the spectral unit ball, while the second concerns self- mappings. The aforementioned results apply to holomorphic mappings that map the origin to the origin. We extend these results to general holomorphic mappings into the spectral unit ball. We also show that our results are sharp.
We study the interpolation sets for the Hardy-Sobolev spaces defined on the unit ball of ${\bf C}^n$. We begin by giving a natural extension to ${\bf C}^n$ of the condition that is known to be necessay and sufficient for interpolation sets lying on the boundary of the unit disc. We show that under this condition the restriction of a function in the Hardy-Sobolev space to the set always exists, and lies in a Besov space. We then show that under the assumption that there is an holomorphic distance function for the set, there is an extension operator from these spaces to the Hardy-Sobolev ones.
In this paper, we give a general boundary Schwarz lemma for holomorphic mappings between unit balls in any dimensions. It is proved that if the mapping $f\in C^{1+α}$ at $z_0\in \partial \mathbb B^n$ with $f(z_0)=w_0\in \partial \mathbb B^N$ for any $n,N\geq 1$, then the Jacobian matrix $J_f(z_0)$ maps the tangent space $T_{z_0}(\partial \mathbb B^n)$ to $T_{w_0}(\partial \mathbb B^N)$, and the holomorphic tangent space $T^{(1,0)}_{z_0}(\partial \mathbb B^n)$ to $T^{(1,0)}_{w_0}(\partial \mathbb B^N)$ as well.
We show that the open unit ball $\mathbb{B}^n$ of $\mathbb{C}^n$ $(n>1)$ admits a nonsingular holomorphic foliation by complete properly embedded holomorphic discs.
Assuming that $S$ is the space of functions of regular variation, $ω\in S$, $0< p<\infty$, a function $f$ holomorphic in $B^n$ is said to be of Besov space $B_p(ω)$ if $$\|f\|^p_{B_p(ω)}=\int_{B^n} (1-|z|^2)^p|Df(z)|^p\frac{ω(1-|z|)}{(1-|z|^2)^{n+1}}dν(z) <+\infty,$$ where $dν(z) $ is the volume measure on $B^n$ and $D $ stands for a fractional derivative of $f$. We consider operators on $B_p(ω)$ and show, that they are bounded.
We prove an Alexander type theorem for the spectral unit ball $Ω_n$ showing that there are no non-trivial proper holomorphic mappings in $Ω_n$, $n\geq 2$.
It is a classical theorem that if a function is integrable along the boundary of the unit circle, then the function is the nontangential limit of a holomorphic function on the open disc if and only if its Fourier coefficients for nonnegative integers are zero. In this article we generalize this result to higher complex dimensions by proving that for an integrable function on the unit sphere, it is ``boundary trace'' of a holomorphic function on the open unit ball if and only if two particular families of integral equations are satisfied. To do this, we use the theory of Hardy spaces as well as…
We prove that a finite family of commuting holomorphic self-maps of the unit ball $\mathbb{B}^q\subset \mathbb{C}^q$ admits a simultaneous holomorphic conjugacy to a family of commuting automorphisms of a possibly lower dimensional ball, and that such conjugacy satisfies a universal property. As an application we describe when a hyperbolic and a parabolic holomorphic self-map of $\mathbb{B}^q$ can commute.
The aim of this paper is to present a simple way to generate proper monomial rational maps between generalized balls and via the relations between generalized balls and bounded symmetric domains of type I, we suggest new examples of proper holomorphic maps between bounded symmetric domains of type I.
Let $f:{\mathbb B}^n \to {\mathbb B}^N$ be a holomorphic map. We study subgroups $Γ_f \subseteq {\rm Aut}({\mathbb B}^n)$ and $T_f \subseteq {\rm Aut}({\mathbb B}^N)$. When $f$ is proper, we show both these groups are Lie subgroups. When $Γ_f$ contains the center of ${\bf U}(n)$, we show that $f$ is spherically equivalent to a polynomial. When $f$ is minimal we show that there is a homomorphism $Φ:Γ_f \to T_f$ such that $f$ is equivariant with respect to $Φ$. To do so, we characterize minimality via the triviality of a third group $H_f$. We relate properties of ${\rm Ker}(Φ)$ to older results …
We construct a complete proper holomorphic embedding from any strictly pseudoconvex domain with $\mathcal{C}^2$-boundary in $\mathbb{C}^n$ into the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^N$, for $N$ large enough, thereby answering a question of Alarcon and Forstneric.
Let $f$ be a nonzero holomorphic function in the unit ball $\mathbb B$ of the $n$-dimensional complex Euclidean space $\mathbb C^n$ such that the function $f$ vanishes on the set ${\sf Z}\subset \mathbb B$ and satisfies the constraint $|f|\leq \exp M$ on $\mathbb B$, where $M\not\equiv \pm \infty$ is $δ$-subharmonic function on $\mathbb B$ with Riesz charge $μ_M$. We give a scale of integral uniform constraints from above on the distribution of the set ${\sf Z}$ via the charge $ν_M$ in terms of $(2n-2)$-Hausdorff measure of the set $\sf Z$, as well as test convex radial functions and $ρ$-subsp…
We give here some precisions and improvements about the validity of the explicit reconstruction of any holomorphic function on a ball of $\mathbb{C}^2$ from its restrictions on a family of complex lines. Such validity depends on the mutual distribution of the lines. This condition can be geometrically described and is equivalent to a stronger stability of the reconstruction formula in terms of permutations and subfamilies of these lines. The motivation of this problem comes from possible applications in mathematical economics and medical imaging.
We present sufficient conditions on a smooth uniformly flat hypersurface W in the unit ball to be an interpolation hypersurface or a sampling hypersurface for generalized Bergman spaces associated to the unit ball with its Bergman metric. The conditions are phrased in terms of a geometric Beurling-type densities, similar to the densities defined for hypersurfaces in C^n by Ortega-Cerda, Schuster and the second author. For the case of sampling, our proofs are different than those in the C^n case; we use an approach closer in spirit to the work of Berndtsson and Ortega-Cerda in the 1-dimensional…
We solve a three point Nevanlinna-Pick problem in the Euclidean ball. In particular, we determine a class of rational functions that interpolate this problem.
We study the approximation of maps into complex manifolds along with interpolation on certain compact subsets of the plane. Results are also obtained regarding approximation and interpolation of sections of holomorphic submersions.
We present a modified version of the Arakelyan's result: a relationship between holomorphic extension of a holomorphic function on the unit disc onto the domain $\mathbb C\setminus[1,\infty)$ and its Taylor coefficients' interpolation.
We give necessary and sufficient conditions for solving the spectral Nevanlinna--Pick lifting problem. This reduces the spectral Nevanlinna--Pick problem to a jet interpolation problem into the symmetrized polydisc.
In this paper we construct a properly embedded holomorphic disc in the unit ball $\mathbb{B}^2$ of $\mathbb{C}^2$ having a surprising combination of properties: on the one hand, it has finite area and hence is the zero set of a bounded holomorphic function on $\mathbb{B}^2$; on the other hand, its boundary curve is everywhere dense in the sphere $b\mathbb{B}^2$.
The Cauchy integral formula in Clifford analysis allows us to associate a holomorphic function $\tilde f:L_n\to \C$ on the Lie ball $L_n$ in $\C^n$ with its monogenic counterpart $f:B_1(0)\to \C^{n+1}$ via the formula $\tilde f(z) = \int_{S^n}G_\om(z)\bs n(\om)f(\om)\,dμ(\om)$, $z\in L_n.$ The inverse map $\tilde f\mapsto f$ is constructed here using the Cauchy-Hua formula for the Lie ball following the work of M. Morimoto \cite{Mori2}.
