Isotropic oscillator on a plane is discussed where both the coordinate and momentum space are considered to be noncommutative. We also discuss the symmetry properties of the oscillator for three separate cases when both the noncommutative parameters Θand \barΘ satisfy specific relations. We compare the Landau problem with the isotropic oscillator on noncommutative space and obtain a relation between the two noncommutative parameters with the magnetic field of the Landau problem.
In this paper we discuss a Landau levels problem within the framework of noncommutative configuration space and phase space. We show that the associated energy levels are being shifted in terms of the noncommutative parameter and can be directly obtained from its associated generalized Landau Hamiltonian. A straight forward way of constructing the shifted energy levels is just via a proper defined Bopp shift applied onto the spatial and momenta operators that are used to describe the Landau levels in symmetric gauge potential.
The Landau problem in the noncommutative plane is discussed in the context of realizations of the two-fold centrally extended planar Galilei group and the anyon theory.
In the present contribution we investigate the Landau analog energy quantization for neutral particles, that possesses a nonzero permanent magnetic and electric dipole moments, in the presence of an homogeneous electric and magnetic external fields in the context of the noncommutative quantum mechanics. Also, we analyze the Landau--Aharonov--Casher and Landau--He--McKellar--Wilkens quantization due to noncommutative quantum dynamics of magnetic and electric dipoles in the presence of an external electric and magnetic fields and the energy spectrum and the eigenfunctions are obtained. Furthermo…
The conditions under which noncommutative quantum mechanics and the Landau problem are equivalent theories is explored. If the potential in noncommutative quantum mechanics is chosen as $V= Ω\aleph$ with $\aleph$ defined in the text, then for the value ${\tilde θ} = 0.22 \times 10^{-11} cm^2$ (that measures the noncommutative effects of the space), the Landau problem and noncommutative quantum mechanics are equivalent theories in the lowest Landau level. For other systems one can find differents values for ${\tilde θ}$ and, therefore, the possible bounds for ${\tilde θ}$ should be searched in …
A generalized harmonic oscillator on noncommutative spaces is considered. Dynamical symmetries and physical equivalence of noncommutative systems with the same energy spectrum are investigated and discussed. General solutions of three-dimensional noncommutative harmonic oscillator are found and classified according to dynamical symmetries. We have found conditions under which three-dimensional noncommutative harmonic oscillator can be represented by ordinary, isotropic harmonic oscillator in effective magnetic field.
An electron moving on plane in a uniform magnetic field orthogonal to plane is known as the Landau problem. Wigner functions for the Landau problem when the plane is noncommutative are found employing solutions of the Schroedinger equation as well as solving the ordinary *-genvalue equation in terms of an effective Hamiltonian. Then, we let momenta and coordinates of the phase space be noncommutative and introduce a generalized *-genvalue equation. We solve this equation to find the related Wigner functions and show that under an appropriate choice of noncommutativity relations they are indepe…
We study the Dirac and the klein-Gordon oscillators in a noncommutative space. It is shown that the Klein-Gordon oscillator in a noncommutative space has a similar behaviour to the dynamics of a particle in a commutative space and in a constant magnetic field. The Dirac oscillator in a noncommutative space has a similar equation to the equation of motion for a relativistic fermion in a commutative space and in a magnetic field, however a new exotic term appears, which implies that a charged fermion in a noncommutative space has an electric dipole moment.
We derive the partition function of the one-body and two-body systems of classical noncommutative harmonic oscillator in two dimensions. Then, we employ the path integral approach to the quantum noncommutative harmonic oscillator and derive the partition function of the both systems at finite temperature.
We have studied a quantum dot with Rashba spin orbit interaction on a plane where the position and momentum coordinates are considered to be noncommutative. The energy spectrum of the system is found to be equivalent to that of a quantum dot with Rashba spin-orbit interaction in a magnetic field under certain conditions.
We solve explicitly the two-dimensional harmonic oscillator and the harmonic oscillator in a background magnetic field in noncommutative phase-space without making use of any type of representation. A key observation that we make is that for a specific choice of the noncommutative parameters, the time reversal symmetry of the systems get restored since the energy spectrum becomes degenerate. This is in contrast to the noncommutative configuration space where the time reversal symmetry of the harmonic oscillator is always broken.
By using graded (super) Lie algebras, we can construct noncommutative superspace on curved homogeneous manifolds. In this paper, we take a flat limit to obtain flat noncommutative superspace. We particularly consider $d=2$ and $d=4$ superspaces based on the graded Lie algebras $osp(1|2)$, $su(2|1)$ and $psu(2|2)$. Jacobi identities of supersymmetry algebras and associativities of star products are automatically satisfied. Covariant derivatives which commute with supersymmetry generators are obtained and chiral constraints can be imposed. We also discuss that these noncommutative superspaces ca…
The noncommutative harmonic oscillator in arbitrary dimension is examined. It is shown that the $\star$-genvalue problem can be decomposed into separate harmonic oscillator equations for each dimension. The noncommutative plane is investigated in greater detail. The constraints for rotationally symmetric solutions and the corresponding two-dimensional harmonic oscillator are solved. The angular momentum operator is derived and its $\star$-genvalue problem is shown to be equivalent to the usual eigenvalue problem. The $\star$-genvalues for the angular momentum are found to depend on the energy …
Classical and quantum anharmonic noncommutative oscillators with quartic self-interacting potential are considered and the effect of self-interaction term on the free energy and partition function of both models is calculated to first order in coupling constant.
We use the path integral approach to a two-dimensional noncommutative harmonic oscillator to derive the partition function of the system at finite temperature. It is shown that the result based on the Lagrangian formulation of the problem, coincides with the Hamiltonian derivation of the partition function.
We consider, in a superspace, new operator dependent noncommutative (NC) geometries of the nonlinear quantum Hall limit related to classes of f-deformed Landau operators in the spherical harmonic well. Different NC coordinate algebras are determined using unitary representation spaces of Fock-Heisenberg tensored algebras and of the Schwinger-Fock realisation of the su(1,1) Lie algebra. A reduced model allowing an underlying N=2 superalgebra is also discussed.
The Quantum Mechanics of a point particle on a Noncommutative Plane in a magnetic field is implemented in the present work as a deformation of the algebra which defines the Landau levels. I show how to define, in this deformed Quantum Mechanics, the physical observables, like the density correlation functions and Green function, on the completely filled ground level. Also it will be shown that the deformation changes the effective magnetic field which acts on the particles at long range, leading to an incompressible fluid with fractional filling of Laughlin type.
Harmonic oscillator in noncommutative two dimensional lattice are investigated. Using the properties of non-differential calculus and its applications to quantum mechanics, we provide the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the corresponding Hamiltonian. First we consider the case of ordinary quantum mechanics, and we point out the thermodynamic properties of the model. Then we consider the same question when both coordinates and momentums are noncommutative.
These lectures fall into two distinct, although tenouously related, parts. The first part is about fuzzy and noncommutative spaces, and particle mechanics on such spaces, in other words, noncommutative mechanics. The second part is a discussion/review of twistors and how they can be used in the calculation of Yang-Mills amplitudes. The point of connection between these two topics, discussed in the last section, is in the realization of holomorphic maps as the lowest Landau level wave functions, or as wave functions of the Hilbert space used for the fuzzy version of the two-sphere. This article…
In this paper we study the (2 + 1)-dimensional Dirac oscillator in the noncommutative phase space and the energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions of the system are obtained through the sl(2) algebraization. It is shown that the results are in good agreement with those obtained previously via a different method.
In this study, we investigate the Pauli oscillator in a noncommutative space. In other words, we derive wave function and energy spectrum of a spin half non-relativistic charged particle that is moving under a constant magnetic field with an oscillator potential in noncommutative space. We obtain critical values of the deformation parameter and the magnetic field, which counteract the normal and anomalous Zeeman effects. Moreover, we find that the deformation parameter has to be smaller than $2.57\times 10^{-26}m^2$. Then, we derive the Helmholtz free energy, internal energy, specific heat, an…
We study the Wigner Function in non-commutative quantum mechanics. By solving the time independent Schrödinger equation both on a non-commutative (NC) space and a non-commutative phase space, we obtain the Wigner Function for the harmonic oscillator on NC space and NC phase space respectively.
We find transformation matrices allowing to express non-commutative three dimensional harmonic oscillator in terms of an isotropic commutative oscillator, following ``philosophy of simplicity'' approach. Non-commutative parameters have physical interpretation in terms of an external magnetic field. Furthermore, we show that for a particular choice of noncommutative parameters there is an equivalent anisotropic representation, whose transformation matrices are far more complicated. We indicate a way to obtain the more complex solutions from the simple ones.
Energy spectrum of isotropic oscillator as a function of noncommutativity parameter theta is studied. It is shown that for a dense set of values of theta the spectrum is degenerated and the algebra responsible for degeneracy can be always chosen to be sU(2). The generators of the algebra are constructed explicitely.
From a study of an oscillator in a $4D$ NC spacetime, we establish the Hamilton equations of motion. The formers are solved to give the oscillator position and momentum coordinates. These coordinates are used to build a metric similar to that describing a cosmic string. On this basis, Dirac and Klein-Gordon oscillators are investigated. Their spectrum and dynamics are analysed giving rise to novel interesting properties.
Using the momentum space representation, we study the (2 +1)-dimensional Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau oscillator for spin 0 particle under a magnetic field in the presence of a minimal length in the noncommutative space. The explicit form of energy eigenvalues are found, the wave functions and the corresponding probability density are reported in terms of the Jacobi polynomials. Additionally, we also discuss the special cases and depict the corresponding numerical results.
We consider the influence of a noncommutative space on the Klein-Gordon and the Dirac oscillators. The nonrelativistic limit is taken and the $θ$-modified Hamiltonians are determined. The corrections of these Hamiltonians on the energy levels are evaluated in first-order perturbation theory. It is observed a total lifting of the degeneracy to the considered levels. Such effects are similar to the Zeeman splitting in a commutative space.
A recent conjecture of Morita predicts a lower bound in temperature $T$ of a chaotic system, $T\geq (\hbar/2π)Λ$, $Λ$ being the Lyapunov exponent, which was demonstrated for a one dimensional inverse harmonic oscillator. In the present work we discuss the robustness of this demonstration in an extended version of the above model, where the inverse harmonic oscillator lives a in two dimensional noncommutative space. We show that, without noncommutativity, Morita's conjecture survives in an essentially unchanged way in two dimensions. However, if noncommutativity is switched on, the noncommutati…
Starting from the zero modes of the single and bilayer graphene Hamiltonians we develop a mechanism to construct the eigenstates and eigenenergies for Landau levels in noncommutative plane. General formulas for the spectrum of energies are deduced, for both cases, single and bilayer graphene. In both cases we find that the effect to introduce noncommutative coordinates is a shift in the energy spectrum with respect to result obtained in commutative space.
We consider the quantum mechanics of a particle on a noncommutative plane. The case of a charged particle in a magnetic field (the Landau problem) with a harmonic oscillator potential is solved. There is a critical point, where the density of states becomes infinite, for the value of the magnetic field equal to the inverse of the noncommutativity parameter. The Landau problem on the noncommutative two-sphere is also solved and compared to the plane problem.
We extend the classical topological Landau-Ginsburg model to a quaternion Landau-Ginsburg model, that satisfy the axioms of open-closed topological field theory. Later we prove, that a moduli space of quaternion Landau-Ginsburg models are non-commutative Frobenius manifold in means of [J. Geom. Phys, 51 (2003), 387-403].
The Landau problem in non-commutative quantum mechanics (NCQM) is studied. First by solving the Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger equations on noncommutative(NC) space we obtain the Landau energy levels and the energy correction that is caused by space-space noncommutativity. Then we discuss the noncommutative phase space case, namely, space-space and momentum-momentum non-commutative case, and we get the explicit expression of the Hamiltonian as well as the corresponding eigenfunctions and eigenvalues.
A (p,q)-deformation of the Landau problem in a spherically symmetric harmonic potential is considered. The quantum spectrum as well as space noncommutativity are established, whether for the full Landau problem or its quantum Hall projections. The well known noncommutative geometry in each Landau level is recovered in the appropriate limit p,q=1. However, a novel noncommutative algebra for space coordinates is obtained in the (p,q)-deformed case, which could also be of interest to collective phenomena in condensed matter systems.
We formulate the Landau problem in the context of the noncommutative analog of a surface of constant negative curvature, that is $AdS_2$ surface, and obtain the spectrum and contrast the same with the Landau levels one finds in the case of the commutative $AdS_2$ space.
We show that 2D noncommutative harmonic oscillator has an isotropic representation in terms of commutative coordinates. The noncommutativity in the new mode, induces energy level splitting, and is equivalent to an external magnetic field effect. The equivalence of the spectra of the isotropic and anisotropic representation is traced back to the existence of SU(2) invariance of the noncommutative model.
Relativistic and nonrelativistic Landau levels for the noncommutative quantum Hall effect with anomalous magnetic moment in a conical Gödel-type spacetime
We consider the behavior of electrons in an external uniform magnetic field B where the space coordinates perpendicular to B are taken as noncommuting. This results in a generalization of standard thermodynamics. Calculating the susceptibility, we find that the usual Landau diamagnetism is modified. We also compute the susceptibility according to the nonextensive statistics of Tsallis for (1-q)<<1, in terms of the factorization approach. Two methods agree under certain conditions.
We study the entanglement entropy of harmonic oscillators in noncommutative phase space. We propose a new definition of quantum Rényi entropy based on Wigner functions in noncommutative phase space. Using the Rényi entropy, we calculate the entanglement entropy of the ground state of the 2D isotropic harmonic oscillators. We find that for some values of the noncommutative parameters, the harmonic oscillators can be entangled in noncommutative phase space. This is a new entanglement-like effect caused by the noncommutativity of the phase space.
We consider a charged particle moving in a two dimensional plane in the presence of a background magnetic field perpendicular to the plane, i.e. the Landau system in a phase-space where the coordinates and momenta both follow canonical noncommutative algebra. A set of generalized transformations is derived in this paper which maps the NC problem to an equivalent commutative problem. In this set up, we study the Aharonov-Bohm effect and the Landau levels. For the Aharonov-Bohm effect, the phase-shift is found to contain corrections due to phase-space noncommutativity and also depends on the sca…
We propose a phase-space path integral formulation of noncommutative quantum mechanics, and prove its equivalence to the operatorial formulation. As an illustration, the partition function of a noncommutative two-dimensional harmonic oscillator is calculated.
In this paper, we investigate the bound-state solutions of the noncommutative Dirac oscillator with a permanent electric dipole moment in the presence of an electromagnetic field in (2+1)-dimensions. We consider a radial magnetic field generated by anti-Helmholtz coils, and the uniform electric field of the Stark effect. Next, we determine the bound-state solutions of the system, given by the two-component Dirac spinor and the relativistic energy spectrum. We note that this spinor is written in terms of the generalized Laguerre polynomials, and this spectrum is a linear function on the potenti…
A one-loop renormalization group (RG) analysis is performed for noncommutative Landau-Ginsburg theory in an arbitrary dimension. We adopt a modern version of the Wilsonian RG approach, in which a shell integration in momentum space bypasses the potential IR singularities due to UV-IR mixing. The momentum-dependent trigonometric factors in interaction vertices, characteristic of noncommutative geometry, are marginal under RG transformations, and their marginality is preserved at one loop. A negative $Θ$-dependent anomalous dimension is discovered as a novel effect of the UV-IR mixing. We also f…
In this paper, we investigate the thermodynamic properties of the noncommutative Dirac oscillator with a permanent electric dipole moment in the presence of an electromagnetic field in contact with a heat bath. Using the canonical ensemble, we determine the properties for both relativistic and nonrelativistic cases through the \textit{Euler-MacLaurin} formula in the high temperatures regime. In particular, the main properties are: the Helmholtz free energy, the entropy, the mean energy, and the heat capacity. Next, we analyze via 2D graphs the behavior of the properties as a function of temper…
We show that (2+1) dimensional noncommutative Dirac oscillator in an external magnetic field is mapped onto the same but with reduced angular frequency in absence of magnetic field. We construct the relativistic Landau levels by solving corresponding Dirac equation in (2+1) dimensional noncommutative phase space. We observe that lowest Landau levels are exactly same as in commutative space and independent of non-commutative parameter. All the Landau levels become independent of noncommutative parameter for a critical value of the magnetic field. Several other interesting features along with th…
We consider the quantum dynamics of a harmonic oscillator in noncommutative space under the influence of linearized gravitational waves (GW) in the long wave-length and low-velocity limit. Following the prescription in \cite{ncgw1} we quantize the system. The Hamiltonian of the system is solved by using standard algebraic iterative methods. The solution shows signatures of the coordinate noncommutativity via alterations in the oscillation frequency of the harmonic oscillator system from its commutative counterpart. Moreover, it is found that the response of the harmonic oscillator to periodic …
It is shown that in the noncommutative version of QED (NCQED) Gribov copies induced by the noncommutativity of space-time appear in the Landau gauge. This is a genuine effect of noncommutative geometry which disappears when the noncommutative parameter vanishes.
We relate the collective dynamic internal geometric degrees of freedom to the gauge fluctuations in $ν=1/m$(m odd) fractional quantum Hall effects. In this way, in the lowest Landau level, a highly nontrivial quantum geometry in two-dimensional guiding center space emerges from these internal geometric modes. Using the Dirac bracket method, we find that this quantum geometric field theory is a topological non-commutative Chern-Simons theory.Topological indices, such as the guiding center angular momentum (also called the shift) and the guiding center spin, which characterize the fractional qua…
We derive the energy levels for oscillator model defined on the twisted N-enlarged Newton-Hooke space-time, i.e., we find time-dependent eigenvalues and corresponding time-dependent eigenstates. We also demonstrate that for a particular choice of deformation parameters of phase space the above spectrum can be identified with the time-dependent Landau one.
We derive the Hu-Paz-Zhang master equation for a Brownian particle linearly coupled to a bath of harmonic oscillators on the plane with spatial noncommutativity. The results obtained are exact to all orders in the noncommutative parameter. As a by-product we derive some miscellaneous results such as the equilibrium Wigner distribution for the reservoir of noncommutative oscillators, the weak coupling limit of the master equation and a set of sufficient conditions for strict purity decrease of the Brownian particle. Finally, we consider a high-temperature Ohmic model and obtain an estimate for …
We demonstrate the existence of entanglement between the spatial degrees of freedom of a system of harmonic oscillators placed in the noncommutative Moyal plane ("exotic oscillators") by computing the entanglement entropy as measured by the von Neumann entropy of the reduced density matrix. It is explicitly verified that the entanglement arises from the noncommutativity, which controls the coupling strength between the spatial modes. This can easily be generalised to the case where the momentum components also satisfy noncommutative relations, so that the entire phase space becomes noncommutat…
The representations of the algebra of coordinates and momenta of noncommutative phase space are given. We study, as an example, the harmonic oscillator in noncommutative space of any dimension. Finally the map of Sch$\ddot{o}$dinger equation from noncommutative space to commutative space is obtained.
We find that in presence of noncommutative poisson brackets the relation between Lagrangian and Hamiltonian is modified. We discuss this property by using the path integral formalism for non-relativistic systems. We apply this procedure to the harmonic oscillator with a minimal length.
A study of a riveting connection between noncommutativity and the anomalous dilatation (scale) symmetry is presented for a generalized quantum Hall system due to time dilatation transformations. On using the "Peierls substitution" scheme, it is shown that noncommutativity between spatial coordinates emerges naturally at a large magnetic field limit. Thereafter, we derive a path-integral action for the corresponding noncommutative quantum system and discuss the equivalence between the considered noncommutative system and the generalized Landau problem thus rendering an effective commmutative de…
The N=1 supersymmetric invariant Landau problem is constructed and solved. By considering Landau level projections remaining non trivial under N=1 supersymmetry transformations, the algebraic structures of the N=1 supersymmetric covariant non(anti)commutative superplane analogue of the ordinary N=0 noncommutative Moyal-Voros plane are identified.
In this paper we have obtained the exact eigenstates of a two dimensional damped harmonic oscillator in time dependent noncommutative space. It has been observed that for some specific choices of the damping factor and the time dependent frequency of the oscillator, there exists interesting solutions of the time dependent noncommutative parameters following from the solutions of the Ermakov-Pinney equation. Further, these solutions enable us to get exact analytic forms for the phase which relates the eigenstates of the Hamiltonian with the eigenstates of the Lewis invariant. We then obtain exp…
We investigate the planar anisotropic harmonic oscillator with explicit rotational symmetry as a particle model with non-commutative coordinates. It includes the exotic Newton-Hooke particle and the non-commutative Landau problem as special, isotropic and maximally anisotropic, cases. The system is described by the same (2+1)-dimensional exotic Newton-Hooke symmetry as in the isotropic case, and develops three different phases depending on the values of the two central charges. The special cases of the exotic Newton-Hooke particle and non-commutative Landau problem are shown to be characterize…
We study the formulation of quantum statistical mechanics in noncommutative spaces. We construct microcanonical and canonical ensemble theory in noncommutative spaces. We consider for illustration some basic and important examples in the framework of noncommutative statistical mechanics : (i). An electron in a magnetic field. (ii). A free particle in a box. (iii). A linear harmonic oscillator.
When dealing with the classical limit of two quantum mechanical oscillators on a noncommutative configuration space, the limits corresponding to the removal of configuration-space noncommutativity and position-momentum noncommutativity do not commute. We address this behaviour from the point of view of the phase-space localisation properties of the Wigner functions of coherent states under the two limits.
In this paper, we analyze the modification of integrable models in the $κ$-deformed space-time. We show that two dimensional isotropic oscillator problem, Kepler problem and MICZ-Kepler problem in $κ$-deformed space-time admit integrals of motion as in the commutative space. We also show that the duality equivalence between $κ$-deformed Kepler problem and $κ$-deformed two-dimensional isotropic oscillator explicitly, by deriving Bohlin-Sundman transformation which maps these two systems. These results are valid to all orders the the deformation parameter.
