We obtain a generalization of the Kodaira-Morrow stability theorem for cosymplectic structures. We investigate cosymplectic geometry on Lie groups and on their compact quotients by uniform discrete subgroups. In this way we show that a compact solvmanifold admits a cosymplectic structure if and only if it is a finite quotient of a torus.
In this article, we study Einstein-Weyl structures on almost cosymplectic manifolds. First we prove that an almost cosymplectic $(κ,μ)$-manifold is Einstein or cosymplectic if it admits a closed Einstein-Weyl structure or two Einstein-Weyl structures. Next for a three dimensional compact almost $α$-cosymplectic manifold admitting closed Einstein-Weyl structures, we prove that it is Ricc-flat. Further, we show that an almost $α$-cosymplectic admitting two Einstein-Weyl structures is either Einstein or $α$-cosymplectic, provided that its Ricci tensor is commuting. Finally, we prove that a compac…
In this article we study an almost $f$-cosymplectic manifold admitting a Ricci soliton. We first prove that there do not exist Ricci solitons on an almost cosymplectic $(κ,μ)$-manifold. Further, we consider an almost $f$-cosymplectic manifold admitting a Ricci soliton whose potential vector field is the Reeb vector field and show that a three dimesional almost $f$-cosymplectic is a cosymplectic manifold. Finally we classify a three dimensional $η$-Einstein almost $f$-cosymplectic manifold admitting a Ricci soliton.
This paper is a study of almost contact statistical manifolds. Especially this study is focused on almost cosymplectic statistical manifolds. We obtained basic properties of such manifolds. It is proved a characterization theorem and a corollary for the almost cosymplectic statistical manifold with Kaehler leaves. We also study curvature properties of an almost cosymplectic statistical manifold. Moreover, examples are constructed.
In the paper there are described new examples of conformally flat three dimensional almost cosymplectic manifolds. All these manifolds form a class which was completely characterized.
In the present paper, we obtain the basic Chen inequalities for the statistical submanifolds of statistical cosymplectic manifolds. Also, we discuss the same inequalities for Legendrian submanifolds.
In this paper we study K-cosymplectic manifolds, i.e., smooth cosymplectic manifolds for which the Reeb field is Killing with respect to some Riemannian metric. These structures generalize coKähler structures, in the same way as K-contact structures generalize Sasakian structures. In analogy to the contact case, we distinguish between (quasi-)regular and irregular structures; in the regular case, the K-cosymplectic manifold turns out to be a flat circle bundle over an almost Kähler manifold. We investigate de Rham and basic cohomology of K-cosymplectic manifolds, as well as cosymplectic and Ha…
The purpose of this article is to study an $f$-cosymplectic manifold $M$ admitting Ricci solitons. Here we consider mainly two classes of Ricci solitons on $f$-cosymplectic manifolds. One is the class of contact Ricci solitons. The other is the class of gradient Ricci solitons, for which we give the local classifications of $M$. Meanwhile, we also give some properties of $f$-cosymplectic manifolds.
In this paper we study the hemi-slant submanifolds of cosymplectic manifolds. Necessary and sufficient conditions for distributions to be integrable are worked out. Some important results are obtained in this direction.
In this paper we introduce slant Riemannian submersions from cosymplectic manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We obtain some results on slant Riemannian submersions of a cosymplectic manifolds. We also give examples and inequalities between the scalar curvature and squared mean curvature of fibres of such slant submersions according to characteristic vector field is vertical or horizontal.
Recently, M. Atcken studied Contact CR-warped prod- uct submanifolds in cosymplectic space forms and established gen- eral sharp inequalities for CR-warped products in a cosymplectic manifold [1]. In the present paper, we obtain an inequality for the squared norm of the second fundamental form in terms of constant ?$ϕ$-sectional curvature for hemi-slant products in cosymplectic mani- folds. An inequality for hemi-slant warped products in a cosymplectc manifold is also given. The equality case is considered.
In this article, we study almost cosymplectic manifolds admitting quasi-Einstein structures $(g, V, m, λ)$. First we prove that an almost cosymplectic $(κ,μ)$-manifold is locally isomorphic to a Lie group if $(g, V, m, λ)$ is closed and on a compact almost $(κ,μ)$-cosymplectic manifold there do not exist quasi-Einstein structures $(g, V, m, λ)$, in which the potential vector field $V$ is collinear with the Reeb vector filed $ξ$. Next we consider an almost $α$-cosymplectic manifold admitting a quasi-Einstein structure and obtain some results. Finally, for a $K$-cosymplectic manifold with a clos…
The aim of this paper is to introduce a cosymplectic analouge of conformal connection in a cosymplectic manifold and proved that if cosymplectic manifold M admits a cosymplectic conformal connection which is of zero curvature, then the Bochner curvature tensor of M vanishes.
In the paper we develop a framework for the alternative way of the study of a local geometry of almost cosymplectic manifolds with Kahlerian leaves. The main idea is to apply the concept of a geometry and analysis of CR manifolds. Locally the almost cosymplectic manifold is modeled on the 'mixed' space RxCn. There is given a complete local description of the underlying almost contact metric structure in the system of local, mixed - real, complex- coordinates. We also introduce a notion of a canonical Hermitian complex connection in the CR structure of a CR almost cosymplectic manifold. As an e…
We prove that every nearly Sasakian manifold of dimension greater than five is Sasakian. This provides a new criterion for an almost contact metric manifold to be Sasakian. Moreover, we classify nearly cosymplectic manifolds of dimension greater than five.
There are studied in details 5-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian manifolds equipped with the structure analogous to the almost cosymplectic (almost coKaehler) structure. The curvature by assumption commutes with the structure affinor and all these manifolds are Walker spaces. There are obtained classifications for manifolds for contact Ricci potential, locally flat manifolds and described all connected, simply connected Lie groups admiting left-invariant structure. There are some other more general results.
We introduce anti-invariant Riemannian submersions from cosymplectic manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We survey main results of anti-invariant Riemannian submersions defined on cosymplectic manifolds. We investigate necessary and sufficient condition for an anti-invariant Riemannian submersion to be totally geodesic and harmonic. We give examples of anti-invariant submersions such that characteristic vector field ξ is vertical or horizontal. Moreover we give decomposition theorems by using the existence of anti-invariant Riemannian submersions.
We study 4-dimensional Riemannian manifolds equipped with a minimal and conformal foliation $\mathcal F$ of codimension 2. We prove that the two adapted almost Hermitian structures $J_1$ and $J_2$ are both cosymplectic if and only if $\mathcal F$ is Riemannian and its horizontal distribution $\mathcal H$ is integrable.
Recently, we have shown that there do not exist the warped product semi-slant submanifolds of cosymplectic manifolds [10]. As nearly cosymplectic structure generalizes cosymplectic ones same as nearly Kaehler generalizes Kaehler structure in almost Hermitian setting. It is interesting that the warped product semi-slant submanifolds exist in nearly cosymplectic case while in case of cosymplectic do not exist. In the beginning, we prove some preparatory results and finally we obtain an inequality such as $\|h\|^2 \geq 4q\csc^2θ\{1+\frac{1}{9}\cos^2θ\}\|\nabla \ln f\|^2$ in terms of intrinsic and…
In this paper we present not only some properties related to bi-warped product submanifolds of locally conformal almost cosymplectic manifolds, but also we show how the squared norm of the second fundamental form and the bi-warped product's warping functions are related when the bi-warped product submanifold has a proper slant submanifold as a base or fiber.
The goal of the present paper is to deliberate certain types of metric such as $*$-$η$-Ricci-Yamabe soliton on $α$-Cosymplectic manifolds with respect to quarter-symmetric metric connection. Further, we have proved some curvature properties of $α$-Cosymplectic manifolds admitting quarter-symmetric metric connection. Here, we have shown the characteristics of the soliton when the manifold satisfies quarter-symmetric metric connection on $α$-Cosymplectic manifolds. Later, we have acquired Laplace equation from $*$-$η$-Ricci-Yamabe soliton equation when the potential vector field $ξ$ of the solit…
In [21], the authors initiated the study of quasi generalized CR (QGCR)-null submanifolds. In this paper, attention is drawn to some distributions on ascreen QGCR-null submanifolds in an indefinite nearly cosymplectic manifold. We characterize totally umbilical and irrotational ascreen QGCR-null submanifolds. We finally discuss the geometric effects of geodesity conditions on such submanifold.
We introduce new metric structures on a smooth manifold (called "weak" structures) that generalize the almost contact, Sasakian, cosymplectic, etc. metric structures $(φ,ξ,η,g)$ and allow us to take a fresh look at the classical theory. We demonstrate this statement by generalizing several well-known results. We prove that any Sasakian structure is rigid, i.e., our weak Sasakian structure is homothetically equivalent to a Sasakian structure. We show that a weak almost contact structure with parallel tensor $φ$ is a weak cosymplectic structure and give an example of such a structure on the prod…
Cosymplectic geometry has been proven to be a very useful geometric background to describe time-dependent Hamiltonian dynamics. In this work, we address the globalization problem of locally cosymplectic Hamiltonian dynamics that failed to be globally defined. We investigate both the geometry of locally conformally cosymplectic (abbreviated as LCC) manifolds and the Hamiltonian dynamics constructed on such LCC manifolds. Further, we provide a geometric Hamilton-Jacobi theory on this geometric framework.
Main interest of the present paper is to investigate the almost α-cosymplectic manifolds for which the characteristic vector field of the almost α-cosymplectic structure satisfies a specific (κ,μ,ν)-nullity condition. This condition is invariant under D-homothetic deformation of the almost cosymplectic (κ,μ,ν)-spaces in all dimensions. Also, we prove that for dimensions greater than three, κ,μ,ν are not necessary constant smooth functions such that df^η=0. Then the existence of the three-dimensional case of almost cosymplectic (κ,μ,ν)-spaces are studied. Finally, we construct an appropriate ex…
We establish two main inequalities; one for the norm of the second fundamental form and the other for the matrix of the shape operator. The results obtained are for cosymplectic manifolds and, for these, we show that the contact warped product submanifolds naturally possess a geometric property; namely $\mathcal{D}_1$-minimality which, by means of the Gauss equation, allows us to obtain an optimal general inequality. For sake of generalization, we state our hypotheses for nearly cosymplectic manifolds, then we obtain them as particular cases for cosymplectic manifolds. For the other part of th…
For a finite family of 3-dimensional almost contact metric manifolds with closed the structure form $η$ is described a construction of an almost contact metric manifold, where the members of the family are building blocks - cells. Obtained manifold share many properties of cells. One of the more important are nullity conditions. If cells satisfy nullity conditions - then - in the case of almost cosymplectic or almost $α$-Kenmotsu manifolds - "sewed cells" also satisfies nullity condition - but generally with different constants. It is important that even in the case of the generalized nullity …
We continue the program of Chinea, De Leon and Marrero who studied the topology of cosymplectic manifolds. We study 3-cosymplectic manifolds which are the closest odd-dimensional analogue of hyper-Kaehler structures. We show that there is an action of the Lie algebra so(4,1) on the basic cohomology spaces of a compact 3-cosymplectic manifold with respect to the Reeb foliation. This implies some topological obstructions to the existence of such structures which are expressed by bounds on the Betti numbers. It is known that every 3-cosymplectic manifold is a local Riemannian product of a hyper-K…
We study Lie algebras of generators of infinitesimal symmetries of almost-cosymplectic-contact structures of odd dimensional manifolds. The almost-cosymplectic-contact structure admits on the sheaf of pairs of 1-forms and functions the structure of a Lie algebra. We describe Lie subalgebras in this Lie algebra given by pairs generating infinitesimal symmetries of basic tensor fields given by the almost-cosymplectic-contact structure.
In this paper, we prove that there are no proper $CRS$ bi-warped product submanifolds other than contact CR-biwarped products in Sasakian manifolds. On the other hand, we prove that if $M$ is a $CRS$ bi-warped product of the form $M=N_T \times_{f_1}N^{n_{1}}_\perp\times_{f_2} N^{n_{2}}_θ$ in a cosymplectic manifold $\widetilde M$, then its second fundamental form $h$ satisfies the inequality: $$\|h\|^2\geq 2n_1\|\nabla(\ln f_1)\|^2+2n_2(1+2\cot^2θ)\|\nabla(\ln f_2)\|^2,$$ where $N_T,\, N^{n_{1}}_\perp$ and $N^{n_{2}}_θ$ are invariant, anti-invariant and proper pointwise slant submanifolds of $…
The author is planning if possible classify all three-dimensional $(κ,μ)$-manifolds wether contact metric, almost cosymplectic, para-contact metric, almost para-cosymplectic. Of course classification in contact or almost cosymplectic cases already is provdied. Up to authors knowledge there is no classification for para-contact or almost para-cosymplectic $(κ,μ)$. Conjecture is described by the author in coming paper structures provide classification. The main goal however is to show that these three dimensional manifolds are essentially building blocks of higher-dimensional manifolds. The othe…
Almost contact structures can be identified with sections of a twistor bundle and this allows to define their harmonicity, as sections or maps. We consider the class of nearly cosymplectic almost contact structures on a Riemannian manifold and prove curvature identities which imply the harmonicity of their parametrizing section, thus complementing earlier results on nearly-K{ä}hler almost complex structures.
We present a compared analysis of some properties of 3-Sasakian and 3-cosymplectic manifolds. We construct a canonical connection on an almost 3-contact metric manifold which generalises the Tanaka-Webster connection of a contact metric manifold and we use this connection to show that a 3-Sasakian manifold does not admit any Darboux-like coordinate system. Moreover, we prove that any 3-cosymplectic manifold is Ricci-flat and admits a Darboux coordinate system if and only it is flat.
We determine the Hamiltonian vector field on an odd dimensional manifold endowed with almost cosymplectic structure. This is a generalization of the corresponding Hamiltonian vector field on manifolds with almost transitive contact structures, which extends the contact Hamiltonian systems. Applications are presented to the equations of motion on a particular five-dimensional manifold, the extended Siegel-Jacobi upper-half plane $\tilde{\mathcal{X}}^J_1$. The $\tilde{\mathcal{X}}^J_1$ manifold is endowed with a generalized transitive almost cosymplectic structure, an almost cosymplectic structu…
We review topological properties of Kähler and symplectic manifolds, and of their odd-dimensional counterparts, coKähler and cosymplectic manifolds. We focus on formality, Lefschetz property and parity of Betti numbers, also distinguishing the simply-connected case (in the Kähler/symplectic situation) and the $b_1=1$ case (in the coKähler/cosymplectic situation).
As a generalization of slant submanifolds and semi-slant submanifolds, we introduce the notions of pointwise slant submanifolds and pointwise semi-slant sunmanifolds of an almost contact metric manifold. We obtain a characterization at each notion, investigate the topological properties of pointwise slant submanifolds, and give some examples of them. We also consider some distributions on cosymplectic, Sasakian, Kenmotsu manifolds and deal with some properties of warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds. Finally, we give some inequalities for the squared norm of the second fundamental …
We compute the Poisson cohomology of a class of Poisson manifolds that are symplectic away from a collection $D$ of hypersurfaces. These Poisson structures induce a generalization of symplectic and cosymplectic structures, which we call a k-cosymplectic structure, on the intersection of hypersurfaces in $D$.
We obtain conditions on the Lee form under which a holomorphic map between almost Hermitian manifolds is a harmonic map or morphism. Then we discuss under what conditions (i) the image of a holomorphic map from a cosymplectic manifold is also cosymplectic, (ii) a holomophic map with Hermitian image defines a Hermitian structure on its domain.
We define an almost--cosymplectic--contact structure which generalizes cosymplectic and contact structures of an odd dimensional manifold. Analogously, we define an almost--coPoisson--Jacobi structure which generalizes a Jacobi structure. Moreover, we study relations between these structures and analyse the associated algebras of functions. As examples of the above structures, we present geometrical dynamical structures of the phase space of a general relativistic particle, regarded as the 1st jet space of motions in a spacetime. We describe geometric conditions by which a metric and a connect…
In this paper, we obtain some sufficient conditions for a 3-dimensional compact trans-Sasakian manifold of type $(α,β)$ to be homothetic to a Sasakian manifold. A characterization of a 3-dimensional cosymplectic manifold is also obtained.
3-quasi-Sasakian manifolds were studied systematically by the authors in a recent paper as a suitable setting unifying 3-Sasakian and 3-cosymplectic geometries. This paper throws new light on their geometric structure which reveals to be generally richer compared to the 3-Sasakian subclass. In fact, it turns out that they are multiply foliated by four distinct fundamental foliations. The study of the transversal geometries with respect to these foliations allows us to link the 3-quasi-Sasakian manifolds to the more famous hyper-Kaehler and quaternionic-Kaehler geometries. Furthermore, we stron…
Akyol M.A. [Conformal anti-invariant submersions from cosymplectic manifolds, Hacettepe Journal of Mathematics and Statistic, 46(2), (2017), 177-192.] defined and studied conformal anti-invariant submersions from cosymplectic manifolds. The aim of the present paper is to define and study the notion of conformal slant submersions (it means the Reeb vector field $ξ$ is a vertical vector field) from almost contact metric manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds as a generalization of Riemannian submersions, horizontally conformal submersions, slant submersions and conformal anti-invariant submersions.…
In this paper we obtain the structure equation of a contact-complex Riemannian submersion and give some applications of this equation in the study of almost cosymplectic manifolds with Kaehler fibres.
We find some curvature properties of 3-quasi-Sasakian manifolds which are similar to some well-known identities holding in the Sasakian case. As an application, we prove that any 3-quasi-Sasakian manifold of constant horizontal sectional curvature is necessarily either 3-α-Sasakian or 3-cosymplectic.
In this article, we study an almost contact metric structure on a $G_2$-manifold constructed by Arikan, Cho and Salur in via the classification of almost contact metric structures given by Chinea and Gonzalez. In particular, we characterize when this almost contact metric structure is cosymplectic and narrow down the possible classes in which this almost contact metric structure could lie. Finally, we show that any closed $G_2$-manifold admits an almost contact metric $3$-structure by constructing it explicitly and characterize when this almost contact metric $3$-structure is $3$-cosymplectic.
Mixed 3-structures are odd-dimensional analogues of paraquaternionic structures. They appear naturally on lightlike hypersurfaces of almost paraquaternionic hermitian manifolds. We study invariant and anti-invariant submanifolds in a manifold endowed with a mixed 3-structure and a compatible (semi-Riemannian) metric. Particular attention is given to two cases of ambient space: mixed 3-Sasakian and mixed 3-cosymplectic.
It is introduced a differentiable manifold with almost contact 3-structure which consists of an almost contact metric structure and two almost contact B-metric structures. The product of this manifold and a real line is an almost hypercomplex manifold with Hermitian-Norden metrics. It is proven that the introduced manifold of cosymplectic type is at. Some examples of the studied manifolds are given.
A structure on an almost contact metric manifold is defined as a generalization of well-known cases: Sasakian, quasi-Sasakian, Kenmotsu and cosymplectic. Then we consider a semi-invariant $ξ^{\bot}$-submanifold of a manifold endowed with such a structure and two topics are studied: the integrability of distributions defined by this submanifold and characterizations for the totally umbilical case. In particular we recover results of Kenmotsu, Eum and Papaghiuc.
We carry on a systematic study of nearly Sasakian manifolds. We prove that any nearly Sasakian manifold admits two types of integrable distributions with totally geodesic leaves which are, respectively, Sasakian or $5$-dimensional nearly Sasakian manifolds. As a consequence, any nearly Sasakian manifold is a contact manifold. Focusing on the $5$-dimensional case, we prove that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between nearly Sasakian structures and a special class of nearly hypo $SU(2)$-structures. By deforming such a $SU(2)$-structure one obtains in fact a Sasaki-Einstein structure. Fu…
G2-manifolds with a cohomogeneity-one action of a compact Lie group G are studied. For G simple, all solutions with holonomy G2 and weak holonomy G2 are classified. The holonomy G2 solutions are necessarily Ricci-flat and there is a one-parameter family with SU(3)-symmetry. The weak holonomy G2 solutions are Einstein of positive scalar curvature and are uniquely determined by the simple symmetry group. During the proof the equations for G2-symplectic and G2-cosymplectic structures are studied and the topological types of the manifolds admitting such structures are determined. New examples of c…
