Main interest of the present paper is to investigate the almost α-cosymplectic manifolds for which the characteristic vector field of the almost α-cosymplectic structure satisfies a specific (κ,μ,ν)-nullity condition. This condition is invariant under D-homothetic deformation of the almost cosymplectic (κ,μ,ν)-spaces in all dimensions. Also, we prove that for dimensions greater than three, κ,μ,ν are not necessary constant smooth functions such that df^η=0. Then the existence of the three-dimensional case of almost cosymplectic (κ,μ,ν)-spaces are studied. Finally, we construct an appropriate example of such manifolds.
In this article we study an almost $f$-cosymplectic manifold admitting a Ricci soliton. We first prove that there do not exist Ricci solitons on an almost cosymplectic $(κ,μ)$-manifold. Further, we consider an almost $f$-cosymplectic manifold admitting a Ricci soliton whose potential vector field is the Reeb vector field and show that a three dimesional almost $f$-cosymplectic is a cosymplectic manifold. Finally we classify a three dimensional $η$-Einstein almost $f$-cosymplectic manifold admitting a Ricci soliton.
In this article, we study Einstein-Weyl structures on almost cosymplectic manifolds. First we prove that an almost cosymplectic $(κ,μ)$-manifold is Einstein or cosymplectic if it admits a closed Einstein-Weyl structure or two Einstein-Weyl structures. Next for a three dimensional compact almost $α$-cosymplectic manifold admitting closed Einstein-Weyl structures, we prove that it is Ricc-flat. Further, we show that an almost $α$-cosymplectic admitting two Einstein-Weyl structures is either Einstein or $α$-cosymplectic, provided that its Ricci tensor is commuting. Finally, we prove that a compac…
This paper is a study of almost contact statistical manifolds. Especially this study is focused on almost cosymplectic statistical manifolds. We obtained basic properties of such manifolds. It is proved a characterization theorem and a corollary for the almost cosymplectic statistical manifold with Kaehler leaves. We also study curvature properties of an almost cosymplectic statistical manifold. Moreover, examples are constructed.
In the paper there are described new examples of conformally flat three dimensional almost cosymplectic manifolds. All these manifolds form a class which was completely characterized.
We study Lie algebras of generators of infinitesimal symmetries of almost-cosymplectic-contact structures of odd dimensional manifolds. The almost-cosymplectic-contact structure admits on the sheaf of pairs of 1-forms and functions the structure of a Lie algebra. We describe Lie subalgebras in this Lie algebra given by pairs generating infinitesimal symmetries of basic tensor fields given by the almost-cosymplectic-contact structure.
Cosymplectic geometry can be viewed as an odd dimensional counterpart of symplectic geometry. Likely in the symplectic case, a related property which is preservation of closed forms $ω$ and $η$, refers to the theoretical possibility of further understanding a cosymplectic manifold $(M, ω, η)$ from its group of diffeomorphisms. In this paper we study the structures of the group of cosymplectic diffeomorphisms and the group of almost cosymplectic diffeomorphisms of a cosymplectic manifold $(M, ω, η)$ in threefold:first of all, we study cosymplectics counterpart of the Moser isotopy method, a pro…
In the paper we develop a framework for the alternative way of the study of a local geometry of almost cosymplectic manifolds with Kahlerian leaves. The main idea is to apply the concept of a geometry and analysis of CR manifolds. Locally the almost cosymplectic manifold is modeled on the 'mixed' space RxCn. There is given a complete local description of the underlying almost contact metric structure in the system of local, mixed - real, complex- coordinates. We also introduce a notion of a canonical Hermitian complex connection in the CR structure of a CR almost cosymplectic manifold. As an e…
In this article, we study almost cosymplectic manifolds admitting quasi-Einstein structures $(g, V, m, λ)$. First we prove that an almost cosymplectic $(κ,μ)$-manifold is locally isomorphic to a Lie group if $(g, V, m, λ)$ is closed and on a compact almost $(κ,μ)$-cosymplectic manifold there do not exist quasi-Einstein structures $(g, V, m, λ)$, in which the potential vector field $V$ is collinear with the Reeb vector filed $ξ$. Next we consider an almost $α$-cosymplectic manifold admitting a quasi-Einstein structure and obtain some results. Finally, for a $K$-cosymplectic manifold with a clos…
We study the Riemann curvature tensor of (κ,μ,ν)-spaces when they have almost cosymplectic and almost Kenmotsu structures, giving its writing explicitly. This leads to the definition and study of a natural generalisation of the contact metric (κ,μ,ν)-spaces. We present examples or obstruction results of these spaces in all possible cases.
We study 4-dimensional Riemannian manifolds equipped with a minimal and conformal foliation $\mathcal F$ of codimension 2. We prove that the two adapted almost Hermitian structures $J_1$ and $J_2$ are both cosymplectic if and only if $\mathcal F$ is Riemannian and its horizontal distribution $\mathcal H$ is integrable.
There are studied in details 5-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian manifolds equipped with the structure analogous to the almost cosymplectic (almost coKaehler) structure. The curvature by assumption commutes with the structure affinor and all these manifolds are Walker spaces. There are obtained classifications for manifolds for contact Ricci potential, locally flat manifolds and described all connected, simply connected Lie groups admiting left-invariant structure. There are some other more general results.
It is provided an overview of existed results concerning classification of contact metric, almost cosymplectic and almost Kenmotsu $(κ,μ)$-manifolds. In the case of dimension three it is described in full details structure of contact metric or almost cosymplectic $(κ,μ)$-spaces. The second part of the paper addresses three-dimensional paracontact metric and almost paracosymplectic $(κ,μ)$-spaces. There is obtained local classification of paracontact metric $(κ,μ)$-spaces, and almost paracosymplectic $(κ,μ)$-spaces, for every possible value of $κ$.
In this paper we present not only some properties related to bi-warped product submanifolds of locally conformal almost cosymplectic manifolds, but also we show how the squared norm of the second fundamental form and the bi-warped product's warping functions are related when the bi-warped product submanifold has a proper slant submanifold as a base or fiber.
For a finite family of 3-dimensional almost contact metric manifolds with closed the structure form $η$ is described a construction of an almost contact metric manifold, where the members of the family are building blocks - cells. Obtained manifold share many properties of cells. One of the more important are nullity conditions. If cells satisfy nullity conditions - then - in the case of almost cosymplectic or almost $α$-Kenmotsu manifolds - "sewed cells" also satisfies nullity condition - but generally with different constants. It is important that even in the case of the generalized nullity …
Almost contact structures can be identified with sections of a twistor bundle and this allows to define their harmonicity, as sections or maps. We consider the class of nearly cosymplectic almost contact structures on a Riemannian manifold and prove curvature identities which imply the harmonicity of their parametrizing section, thus complementing earlier results on nearly-K{ä}hler almost complex structures.
We introduce new metric structures on a smooth manifold (called "weak" structures) that generalize the almost contact, Sasakian, cosymplectic, etc. metric structures $(φ,ξ,η,g)$ and allow us to take a fresh look at the classical theory. We demonstrate this statement by generalizing several well-known results. We prove that any Sasakian structure is rigid, i.e., our weak Sasakian structure is homothetically equivalent to a Sasakian structure. We show that a weak almost contact structure with parallel tensor $φ$ is a weak cosymplectic structure and give an example of such a structure on the prod…
The author is planning if possible classify all three-dimensional $(κ,μ)$-manifolds wether contact metric, almost cosymplectic, para-contact metric, almost para-cosymplectic. Of course classification in contact or almost cosymplectic cases already is provdied. Up to authors knowledge there is no classification for para-contact or almost para-cosymplectic $(κ,μ)$. Conjecture is described by the author in coming paper structures provide classification. The main goal however is to show that these three dimensional manifolds are essentially building blocks of higher-dimensional manifolds. The othe…
We prove that every nearly Sasakian manifold of dimension greater than five is Sasakian. This provides a new criterion for an almost contact metric manifold to be Sasakian. Moreover, we classify nearly cosymplectic manifolds of dimension greater than five.
We determine the Hamiltonian vector field on an odd dimensional manifold endowed with almost cosymplectic structure. This is a generalization of the corresponding Hamiltonian vector field on manifolds with almost transitive contact structures, which extends the contact Hamiltonian systems. Applications are presented to the equations of motion on a particular five-dimensional manifold, the extended Siegel-Jacobi upper-half plane $\tilde{\mathcal{X}}^J_1$. The $\tilde{\mathcal{X}}^J_1$ manifold is endowed with a generalized transitive almost cosymplectic structure, an almost cosymplectic structu…
Recently, we have shown that there do not exist the warped product semi-slant submanifolds of cosymplectic manifolds [10]. As nearly cosymplectic structure generalizes cosymplectic ones same as nearly Kaehler generalizes Kaehler structure in almost Hermitian setting. It is interesting that the warped product semi-slant submanifolds exist in nearly cosymplectic case while in case of cosymplectic do not exist. In the beginning, we prove some preparatory results and finally we obtain an inequality such as $\|h\|^2 \geq 4q\csc^2θ\{1+\frac{1}{9}\cos^2θ\}\|\nabla \ln f\|^2$ in terms of intrinsic and…
In this paper we study K-cosymplectic manifolds, i.e., smooth cosymplectic manifolds for which the Reeb field is Killing with respect to some Riemannian metric. These structures generalize coKähler structures, in the same way as K-contact structures generalize Sasakian structures. In analogy to the contact case, we distinguish between (quasi-)regular and irregular structures; in the regular case, the K-cosymplectic manifold turns out to be a flat circle bundle over an almost Kähler manifold. We investigate de Rham and basic cohomology of K-cosymplectic manifolds, as well as cosymplectic and Ha…
As a generalization of slant submanifolds and semi-slant submanifolds, we introduce the notions of pointwise slant submanifolds and pointwise semi-slant sunmanifolds of an almost contact metric manifold. We obtain a characterization at each notion, investigate the topological properties of pointwise slant submanifolds, and give some examples of them. We also consider some distributions on cosymplectic, Sasakian, Kenmotsu manifolds and deal with some properties of warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds. Finally, we give some inequalities for the squared norm of the second fundamental …
We obtain conditions on the Lee form under which a holomorphic map between almost Hermitian manifolds is a harmonic map or morphism. Then we discuss under what conditions (i) the image of a holomorphic map from a cosymplectic manifold is also cosymplectic, (ii) a holomophic map with Hermitian image defines a Hermitian structure on its domain.
B.-Y. Chen initiated the study of warped product submanifolds in his fundamental seminal papers \cite{C1,C2,C2.1}. In this paper, we study contact CR-warped product submanifolds of cosymplectic space forms and prove an optimal inequality by using Gauss and Codazzi equations. In addition, we obtain two geometric inequalities for contact CR-warped product submanifolds with a compact invariant factor.
We define an almost--cosymplectic--contact structure which generalizes cosymplectic and contact structures of an odd dimensional manifold. Analogously, we define an almost--coPoisson--Jacobi structure which generalizes a Jacobi structure. Moreover, we study relations between these structures and analyse the associated algebras of functions. As examples of the above structures, we present geometrical dynamical structures of the phase space of a general relativistic particle, regarded as the 1st jet space of motions in a spacetime. We describe geometric conditions by which a metric and a connect…
We establish two main inequalities; one for the norm of the second fundamental form and the other for the matrix of the shape operator. The results obtained are for cosymplectic manifolds and, for these, we show that the contact warped product submanifolds naturally possess a geometric property; namely $\mathcal{D}_1$-minimality which, by means of the Gauss equation, allows us to obtain an optimal general inequality. For sake of generalization, we state our hypotheses for nearly cosymplectic manifolds, then we obtain them as particular cases for cosymplectic manifolds. For the other part of th…
Recently, M. Atcken studied Contact CR-warped prod- uct submanifolds in cosymplectic space forms and established gen- eral sharp inequalities for CR-warped products in a cosymplectic manifold [1]. In the present paper, we obtain an inequality for the squared norm of the second fundamental form in terms of constant ?$ϕ$-sectional curvature for hemi-slant products in cosymplectic mani- folds. An inequality for hemi-slant warped products in a cosymplectc manifold is also given. The equality case is considered.
We present a compared analysis of some properties of 3-Sasakian and 3-cosymplectic manifolds. We construct a canonical connection on an almost 3-contact metric manifold which generalises the Tanaka-Webster connection of a contact metric manifold and we use this connection to show that a 3-Sasakian manifold does not admit any Darboux-like coordinate system. Moreover, we prove that any 3-cosymplectic manifold is Ricci-flat and admits a Darboux coordinate system if and only it is flat.
In this paper we obtain the structure equation of a contact-complex Riemannian submersion and give some applications of this equation in the study of almost cosymplectic manifolds with Kaehler fibres.
In this article, we study an almost contact metric structure on a $G_2$-manifold constructed by Arikan, Cho and Salur in via the classification of almost contact metric structures given by Chinea and Gonzalez. In particular, we characterize when this almost contact metric structure is cosymplectic and narrow down the possible classes in which this almost contact metric structure could lie. Finally, we show that any closed $G_2$-manifold admits an almost contact metric $3$-structure by constructing it explicitly and characterize when this almost contact metric $3$-structure is $3$-cosymplectic.
It is introduced a differentiable manifold with almost contact 3-structure which consists of an almost contact metric structure and two almost contact B-metric structures. The product of this manifold and a real line is an almost hypercomplex manifold with Hermitian-Norden metrics. It is proven that the introduced manifold of cosymplectic type is at. Some examples of the studied manifolds are given.
We consider surfaces with parallel mean curvature vector (pmc surfaces) in $\mathbb{C}P^n\times\mathbb{R}$ and $\mathbb{C}H^n\times\mathbb{R}$, and, more generally, in cosymplectic space forms. We introduce a holomorphic quadratic differential on such surfaces. This is then used in order to show that the anti-invariant pmc $2$-spheres of a $5$-dimensional non-flat cosymplectic space form of product type are actually the embedded rotational spheres $S_H^2\subset\bar M^2\times\mathbb{R}$ of Hsiang and Pedrosa, where $\bar M^2$ is a complete simply-connected surface with constant curvature. When …
A dualistic structure on a smooth Riemaniann manifold $M$ is a triple $(M,g,\nabla)$ with $g$ a Riemaniann metric and $\nabla$ an affine connection, generally assumed to be torsionless. From $g$ and $\nabla$, the dual connection $\nabla^*$ can be defined and the triple $(M, \nabla,\nabla^*)$ is called a statistical manifold, a basic object in information geometry. In this work, we give conditions based on this notion for a manifold to admit an almost contact structure and some related structures: almost contact metric, contact, contact metric, cosymplectic, and coKähler in the three-dimensional…
For submanifolds tangent to the structure vector field in cosymplectic space forms, we establish a basic inequality between the main intrinsic invariants of the submanifold, namely its sectional curvature and scalar curvature on one side; and its main extrinsic invariant, namely squared mean curvature on the other side. Some applications including inequalities between the intrinsic invariant $δ_{M}$ and the squared mean curvature are given. The equality cases are also discussed
Recently, B.-Y. Chen and O. J. Garay studied pointwise slant submanifolds of almost Hermitian manifolds. By using the notion of pointwise slant submanifolds, we investigate the geometry of pointwise semi-slant submanifolds and their warped products in Sasakian and cosymplectic manifolds. We prove that there exist no proper pointwise semi-slant warped product submanifold other than contact CR-warped products in Sasakian manifolds. We give non-trivial examples of such submanifolds in cosypmlectic manifolds and obtain several fundamental results, including a characterization for warped product po…
We consider the problem of constructing Poisson brackets on smooth manifolds $M$ with prescribed Casimir functions. If $M$ is of even dimension, we achieve our construction by considering a suitable almost symplectic structure on $M$, while, in the case where $M$ is of odd dimension, our objective is achieved by using a convenient almost cosymplectic structure. Several examples and applications are presented.
We continue the program of Chinea, De Leon and Marrero who studied the topology of cosymplectic manifolds. We study 3-cosymplectic manifolds which are the closest odd-dimensional analogue of hyper-Kaehler structures. We show that there is an action of the Lie algebra so(4,1) on the basic cohomology spaces of a compact 3-cosymplectic manifold with respect to the Reeb foliation. This implies some topological obstructions to the existence of such structures which are expressed by bounds on the Betti numbers. It is known that every 3-cosymplectic manifold is a local Riemannian product of a hyper-K…
Akyol M.A. [Conformal anti-invariant submersions from cosymplectic manifolds, Hacettepe Journal of Mathematics and Statistic, 46(2), (2017), 177-192.] defined and studied conformal anti-invariant submersions from cosymplectic manifolds. The aim of the present paper is to define and study the notion of conformal slant submersions (it means the Reeb vector field $ξ$ is a vertical vector field) from almost contact metric manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds as a generalization of Riemannian submersions, horizontally conformal submersions, slant submersions and conformal anti-invariant submersions.…
The vector space of the tensors $\mathcal F$ of type (0,3) having the same symmetries as the covariant derivative of the fundamental form of an almost contact metric manifold is considered. A scheme of decomposition of $\mathcal F$ into orthogonal components which are invariant under the action of $U(n)\times 1$ is given. Using this decomposition there are found 12 natural basic classes of almost contact metric manifolds. The classes of cosymplectic, $α$-Sasakian, $α$-Kenmotsu, etc. manifolds fit nicely to these considerations. On the other hand, many new interesting classes of almost contact …
In this work, we prove that every complex contact structure gives rise to a distinguished type of almost contact metric 3-structure. As an application of our main result, we provide several new examples of manifolds which admit taut contact circles, taut and round almost cosymplectic 2-spheres, and almost hypercontact (metric) structures. These examples generalize, in a suitable sense, the well-known examples of contact circles defined by the Liouville-Cartan forms on the unit cotangent bundle of Riemann surfaces. Furthermore, we provide sufficient conditions for a compact complex contact mani…
In this paper, we study the invariant and noninvariant hypersurfaces of (1,1,1) almost contact manifolds, Lorentzian almost paracontact manifolds and Lorentzian para-Sasakian manifolds, respectively. We show that a noninvariant hypersurface of an (1,1,1) almost contact manifold admits an almost product structure. We investigate hypersurfaces of affinely cosymplectic and normal (1,1,1) almost contact manifolds. It is proved that a noninvariant hypersurface of a Lorentzian almost paracontact manifold is an almost product metric manifold. Some necessary and sufficient conditions have been given f…
In this article we study almost contact manifolds admitting weakly Einstein metrics. We first prove that if a (2n+1)-dimensional Sasakian manifold admits a weakly Einstein metric then its scalar curvature $s$ satisfies $-6\leqslant s \leqslant 6$ for $n=1$ and $-2n(2n+1)\frac{4n^2-4n+3}{4n^2-4n-1}\leqslant s \leqslant 2n(2n+1)$ for $n\geqslant2$. Secondly, for a (2n+1)-dimensional weakly Einstein contact metric $(κ,μ)$-manifold with $κ<1$, we prove that it is flat or is locally isomorphic to the Lie group $SU(2)$, $SL(2)$, or $E(1,1)$ for $n=1$ and that for $n\geqslant2$ there are no weakly Ei…
A structure on an almost contact metric manifold is defined as a generalization of well-known cases: Sasakian, quasi-Sasakian, Kenmotsu and cosymplectic. Then we consider a semi-invariant $ξ^{\bot}$-submanifold of a manifold endowed with such a structure and two topics are studied: the integrability of distributions defined by this submanifold and characterizations for the totally umbilical case. In particular we recover results of Kenmotsu, Eum and Papaghiuc.
In this work we consider a class of contact manifolds $(M,η)$ with an associated almost contact metric structure $(ϕ, ξ, η,g)$. This class contains, for example, nearly cosymplectic manifolds and the manifolds in the class $C_9\oplus C_{10}$ defined by Chinea and Gonzalez. All manifolds in the class considered turn out to have dimension $4n+1$. Under the assumption that the sectional curvature of the horizontal $2$-planes is constant at one point, we obtain that these manifolds must have dimension $5$.
We classify all seven-dimensional spaces which admit a homogeneous cosymplectic G2-structure. The motivation for this classification is that each of these spaces is a possible principal orbit of a parallel Spin(7)-manifold of cohomogeneity one.
We show that a connection with skew-symmetric torsion satisfying the Einstein metricity condition exists on an almost contact metric manifold exactly when it is D-homothetic to a cosymplectic manifold. In dimension five, we get that the existence of a connection with skew torsion satisfying the Einstein metricity condition is equivalent to the existence of a Sasaki-Einstein 5-manifold and vice versa, any Sasaki-Einstein 5-manifold generates a two parametric family of connections with skew torsion satisfying the Einstein metricity condition. Formulas for the curvature and the Ricci tensors of t…
An $f$-structure, introduced by K. Yano in 1963 and subsequently studied by a number of geometers, is a higher dimensional analog of almost complex and almost contact structures, defined by a (1,1)-tensor field $f$ on a $(2n+p)$-dimensional manifold, which satisfies $f^3 + f = 0$ and has constant rank $2n$. We recently introduced the weakened (globally framed) $f$-structure (i.e., the complex structure on $f(TM)$ is replaced by a nonsingular skew-symmetric tensor) and its subclasses of weak $K$-, ${\cal S}$-, and ${\cal C}$- structures on Riemannian manifolds with totally geodesic foliations, …
